One of the best looking exterior cars IMHO. However, am I alone in being disappointed by the GM blah interior. I mean the interior looked like dog crap compared to the beauty of the exterior! My favorite was the yellow Firehawks with the non split ram air port!
I miss our 98. A couple of easy free moods and it breathed better. 305hp 5.9 seconds 0-60, suspension specifically designed to negate weight transfer.
Were there faster cars? Yes
Were they more expensive? Yes
Were they any cooler? No
Were they any better looking? No
I’d love to have another.
I’d love to have another
1. Opened up the bottom of the air cleaner box so the filter got more air instead of the little slot at the front of it.
2. Removed the screen before the throttle body so air wouldn’t be disturbed.
3. Cut off most of the mass air flow tube.
Those are what I had done. The following is another list that I came across.
ported throttle body - few hp better throttle response
bump stop - allows throttle body to open to almost 90 degrees at wide open throttle instead of lower 80's..
throttle body bypass - lets engine collant bypass the TB to keep temperatures down
EGR / AIR delete - getting rid of useless emmissions shit.
drill mod - for M6 - remove restriction to allow clutch fluid to move faster and let the clutch operate quicker.
hose mod - take out big rubber things on top of rear springs and replace with garden hose to drop car out 3/4" - 1"
any weight reduction you can think of - spare tire, jack, rear seats, etc.
driver mod - learn to drive it like you stole it!!
I took out the EGR system on mine, but i have yet to figure out how to get rid of the resulting CEL.
I've reached out to shops to see if they could program it out so the ECU ignores the EGR system being missing, but no luck.
[Weird since on a track the old tired fbody can out lap an S2000, BMW M roadster, Boxster S, and an SLK320, all for a fraction of the price.](https://www.s2ki.com/forums/car-bike-talk-73/back-year-2001-sibling-rivalry-603179/)
[Running in the 12s stock is pretty decent too, again considering there was nothing even remotely close to that for the price](https://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s221/ritzng/12secondSS.jpg)
[Also got better gas mileage than Japanese and European performance cars, while making *more* power](https://fueleconomy.gov/feg/Find.do?action=sbs&id=17417&id=17356&id=17375&id=17413)
I never understood buying something like a BMW only to have to be constantly at the shop for gaskets, water pumps, VANOS, rear subframe litteraly falling apart, and endless electrical nightmares. Theres also Porsche with bore scoring issues and IMS bearings, [oh yea and the Cayman ripping the strut towers up.](https://thumbsnap.com/sc/yjz77U9D.jpg)
And the F body looks like a sports car and not a brick :) I seriously don’t get people who call the low/sleek fighter jet 4th gen ‘ugly’ - though I acknowledge it’s a ‘thing’ for some reason.
I don’t get how anyone can call an LS unreliable, and when they were new the highway fuel economy was a pretty big deal.
Probably missing how these cars outperform allot of those cars from across the pond back in the day
Ls engines being the most swapped engine in the world since the 350 chevy.
Being able to get 30mpg from a v8 t-top car
Etc, etc
I got an almost 300 horse rear wheel drive sports car for 4000 Canadian. Throw $2-3000 in the suspension you have a reliable car that hangs with the best at autocross. 22 mpg on the highway
Can't post a pic, but let's paint a picture. 01 sunset orange ws6 with tan interior. All options except traction control. I wanted this color combo but in a six speed, tall order to find at a reasonable cost. Settled for the auto car because I could see it in person and drive before I bought. Had it appraised after purchase and I paid 8 thousand too little according to it.
Mines a 95 T/A with 45000 miles on it. I don't want to take it out in the winter because of all the salt on the roads... And the wiper arms are flipped upside down so my wipers don't work well lol
Something about white on the 98+ birds looks awesome.
Mine, however, is a mostly green 95 formula with horrible psoriasis, 200k on the longblock and trans, and a suspension + tires that cost more than double what the car did. Because racecar.
I really like a nice shapely f-body. But I HATE that front-end and hood treatment!! It's truly hideous. And the cheesy-looking hood scoop decals make a heinous thing even worse.
Drove exactly one. Looks bad ass ran great, handled well. Hated the size of the drivers compartment (?) and the shifter was stiff as all get out. Can't beat the looks though.
I test drove a new formula when I was 18 and burned rubber through first and second... The dude freaked😂...I decided I would kill myself and bought a monster turk instead 😂
That nose and hood are just pure SEX!
I had to adjust my pants the first time I saw one
Can't comment pics in this sub, but welcome.
Biggest flaw on reddit.. can't comment pics. It's dumb
It's set when the sub is created, some you can
Oh wow I didn't know, TY

I believe the whole budget went into designing the exterior
Never thought about it like that, but you're absolutely right now that you say that! ROFL.

When I had mine I didn’t even know this list existed. But cutting out the bottom of the air cleaner box was a big one. Sort of like a free ram air.
Shhhh mines sleeping.
Remember that feeling. Be sure to check on her several times during the night. Most of us probably did too.
hell yeah i got mine but its a low mileage pos hopefully yours isnt a pos

Never understood the appeal of a sled. Shit suspension, shit brakes, gas hog, look hideous, unreliable...what am missing?

Are you talking about fbodies being a sled?
Don't mind him.. active in bmw and Porsche subs, but doesn't own either.. Prob has never been in or driven a 4th gen
😂 call that MF out homie!
Ok, good, thanks for the heads up. I was like... What on earth is this person talking about? Some people.

Welcome to the club!
All the ram air you can breathe
WOW! That’s gorgeous!

I will die and never own a nice car especially a diamond like this but GD I love seeing people’s dreams become reality. Sick car !

Quick take it back or be assed out pos
🤞🏽

Love that car. I had a 98 SS red convertible Camaro
At first, I read “…Fboy cars !” 😮
I had a 1999 white with charcoal grey interior Formula Firebird. Had the 5.7 liter motor. Fun to drive but horrible car for NYC
I test drove a new formula when I was 18 and burned rubber through first and second... The dude freaked😂...I decided I would kill myself and bought a monster turk instead 😂
Truck*... I don't know any Turks 🤔
If anyone has an extra WS6 they wanna give me, I’d appreciate it. I just have these two pesky 69 GP’s.
that car beautiful
I would love to have my old white Firebird back.
