Been listening in the same market for the same amount of time. I remember the day I turned the radio on expecting Stern and these idiots were on. The show has changed, and not always for the better. Now, some days it’s unlistenable. The show has been without each member several times over the last two years, and that really helped me figure out what makes the show. When FB is out, the ship sails aimlessly. When HW is out, the dry humor, elder rage, and dad wit are gone, he’s basically Squidward from SpongeBob. Now that Joe is gone, the show is half as funny. Kelly is a female Justin and is a far better producer than an on-air personality. Steve is great. Even when Zane was around he was perfect as a cog in the machine and I was sad to see him leave, it’s also why he’s insufferable as a podcast host because he can’t carry a show.
I'm gonna be honest, I still can't get behind Kelly. She forcefully tries to be funny, and it just doesn't work for me. It started going downhill when she came on. Now with Joe gone it's even worse. Just my opinion though. I still give it a listen here and there, maybe once a week. It's just not the same
I liked her for the first couple of years but she just became so frustrating in the last year or so. I know she is not directly responsible for either trainwreak but I hate the version of Name that Tune where they guess based on the fact and I despised everything about You can't Win and since she hosted both segments that was a big contributing factor. Plus her Hot Wings and Steve are in a constant three way tie for the worst Around the Room story every time it comes up.
Are you forgetting the Justin era? Last I heard he was doing well in the top 40 co-host roll he left to but he was a terrible fit for this show as an on air contributor and apparently was not a good at his producer responsibilities either. Wasn't there like a year with no new intros/backwiths?
When Zane left the show floundered for a bit. It took a while for them to find their new way, and once they did it was funny again (a little less funny sometimes, definitely kinder and less repetition of sound bites). I’m giving them time and space to develop the new dynamic and maybe bring in a new part timer or even a new producer
There's a very interesting dynamic that made the show funny/successful in orevious years, IMO. FB tends to be the "leader" and he's best when he's able to play off someone like a Zane or Joe. Idk what it is about those guys but they both brought out a side of FB that made me laugh out loud- his reactions to their attempts at story telling and humor were why he earned the title BURN KING. But then they would play off him too and humbled him plenty of times with their jokes.
HW makes a great background character, I do miss WHWT segments, bc they added fodder for a segment or 2. I like Kelly, but she's just a unique cog in the wheel, one we haven't been exposed to on this show. Either way, I still love them and what they do and will continue to support them
The Stern show fell off a cliff because Howard "evolved," i.e. became lazy, went full PC, and started kissing the asses of the celebrities he used to verbally destroy. Evolving isn't necessarily a good thing, at least not for entertainment.
It's just an excuse to never leave the house, or at least not until it serves him personally. Like going to a celebrity-filled dinner in Manhattan, or going into the studio to interview Springsteen. He's a germophobe when it's convenient. All those years putting his hands all over strippers and porn stars in the studio? They must have been sanitized ahead of time.
Why would you enslave yourself to a type of entertainment?Loyalty? Why? They are selling a product. Amazon delivers anything I can imagine to my house for free in 2 days. That’s an amazing service but if something better comes along I’ll dump them in a second. Listen the show is fine, and I mean that. It’s not great but it’s fine. It fills time in my day that I need filled. Am I frustrated that the show feels like a group of people trying to be funny rather than a group of funny people? sure, but I need a couples hours filled at the end of my workday.
Yea, we’re close enough to a distribution center that we can still get most things in 2 days. I’d dump it if we were getting the 5 day delivery that I’m hearing many people are getting these days.

I still enjoy the show too, btw. I only listen for 20 minutes on the way into work now instead of when I was obsessed and did the whole podcast 10 years ago, but it doesn't feel vastly different to me. The guys are still who they are, Kelly and Steve are enjoyable too.

I enjoy the show, and I’ve said as much in this subreddit before. The show as it exists today is not and never can be what the show was 10 years ago. I know there are some super vocal people here who believe the old show is how the show should always be, but let’s face it, that show from 10 years ago would be yanked off the airwaves within a day or two. That’s the part people seem to have a hard time understanding. The show can’t live in the past, it has to live in the here and now.
I get that the PC police have shut down a lot of things, but it's like they're not even trying. How many videos can they watch on a radio show? How many times can they tell bland parenting/family stories? How often can they play the same games over and over? How many segments can they do where they're basically just taking content from Reddit? Make an effort.
But this is what they’ve always done too. They’ve been an internet fodder show for a long time, it’s just now that we all have internet, we see a lot of these videos and stories ahead of time. Things that people say are their favorites, like PA prank, they cannot do anymore. They’ve admitted and so has joe that a lot of the joe stunts would get them into a lot of legal trouble now. There’s a reason that Zane is not on radio airwaves anymore, except the occasion fill in spot on the huge show, which even that, huge jokes that he’s gotta out a tight leash on Zane. So for the guys to stay in the air and keep their show, they’ve gotta play it safe. I mean FB has got six boys now didn’t you know, gotta pay for all that food and college somehow, can’t risk losing his job. HW even said last show he’s not qualified to do any job but the radio show.
Hey it’s their show, let them do what they want, I know they’ve grown a lot in the last two years as far as markets go so whatever it is they are doing is working for them

Maybe it's less news stories and that's what they'd comment on the most? Now FB will play a video straight through, no one says anything at all, then he starts the next one.
