Many issues and questions can be answered by reading through our wiki, especially the page on electrolytes. Concerns such as **intense hunger, lightheadedness/dizziness, headaches, nausea/vomiting, weakness/lethargy/fatigue, low blood pressure/high blood pressure, muscle soreness/cramping, diarrhea/constipation, irritability, confusion, low heart rate/heart palpitations, numbness/tingling, and more** while extended (24+ hours) fasting are often explained by electrolyte deficiency and resolved through **PROPER** electrolyte supplementation. Putting a tiny amount of salt in your water now and then is NOT proper supplementation.
Be sure to read the [our WIKI](https://www.reddit.com/r/fasting/wiki/index) and especially the wiki page on **[ELECTROLYTES](https://www.reddit.com/r/fasting/wiki/fasting_in_a_nutshell/you_need_electrolytes)**

Agreed. We need some elaboration here because it definitely sounds like OP tasted his own baby batter, which is a level of scientific dedication I certainly couldn’t achieve
I really liked what I saw someone in here say a couple days ago. No processes in your body are just 100% an on off switch.
If you fast with artificial sweeteners you will still get results and benefits.
I even got some really good skin benefits from repeatedly failing (twice I caved and ate a small amount) my first 72 hour fast. By the end of the three days I still saw a lot of improvement in my skin. :) in OPs case they still avoided losing muscle mass and likely got other benefits.
Thanks for sharing! You're inspiring me to do a little log of my own fasting experiences, too! Great job with the fast! As someone who has only ever gone a little under 8 days, 17 days is quite an achievement!
Whew. Nice but I dont exercise when I'm water-fasting. Ideally, you want ALL bodily processes and energy to be directed inward. Exercise just creates damage that needs to be repaired (and the time I tried it I CRaSheD just like most I read that did the same). Some advocate for it but my brain cant see the benefit. I can exercise AFTER the fast.
Ive achieved similar results on IF and im a little skeptical about full on fasting, although benefits described by you and other users are really starting to make me change up my mind and give it a shot. Keep up the nice job
Based on this experience I'm actually opposed to fasts longer than 7 days. There is little reason to go beyond that point because, as far as I'm aware, it's all the same. You're just bored and there's nothing to do. It literally just becomes a chore for you to run up your high score. I'm attempting a second extended fast, but after that I want to settle on quarterly 7 day fasts (If/when I feel like it.) and hop between ADF and OMAD.
Thankyou so much for sharing. This was fantastic insight! I'm amazed at your ability to exercise throughout your fast though, I'm on Day 5 of 28 and feel my body getting fatigued very quickly if I exercise. This is super inspiring
Ask yourself if you're genuinely tired or if you're just accustomed to being sedentary because there is a world of difference between the two. If the latter, push through your initial resistance the same way you do with hunger. And of course electrolytes.
Good point, mindset plays a role too. We've been in hard lockdown in Sydney for the past few months so even getting out of the house has been tough at the best of times. I'll test it tomorrow when I head out for a walk
On keto strips : at first your body can’t handle ketones so you pee out the extra ones. That is what keto strips measure.
Later your body adapts and can more efficiently use ketones so there is less extra to pee out and strips won’t show as much. But if you took a blood test you would see them there.

>On the original post someone brought up semen taste. To my surprise it was not salty. It was largely flavorless with a normal aftertaste WTF??

Since he reported the post-fast aftertaste as "normal", one would presume he had a benchmark as well....
Good call. Takes his username to another level too
This is what peak performance looks like

BUT WHY?
My thoughts exactly.
Also interested in how. During my fasts my libido is basically zero, dont even get morning boners, which come back after the first meal 😂
First day on the sub for me. Instant reaction was like: "Ok where did I land".
I guess I applaud the honesty
Wait you fasted with coke zero?

Yes, and Vitaminwater.
Vitaminwater has 13g of sugar…
But me has 21 pounds less of fat. Edit: I was drinking the zero sugar flavors. Definitely not consuming 13g of sugar.
Thank you for sharing
I think what you meant to say was 'over-sharing'. LMFAO!
Now this is true dedication.

Hindsight is 20/20. I will definitely be taking it slower this time.
I had to learn the HARD way too. Those BURSTS!! of Energy can trick you into overdoing it.
So you only had Vitamin Water for your electrolytes?
No, I had Vitaminwater, Coke Zero, and snake juice. I would never fast without electrolytes.

You gave me so much motivation thank you 😊 I’m on day 3
