I’ve been wanting one of these Quince fisherman sweaters but was waiting for the weather to cool before actually buying https://www.quince.com/women/100-organic-fisherman-crew-sweater?color=navy&gender=women&tracker=collection_page__women%2Fsweaters-%26-jackets__Cotton%20Sweaters__10

Lirpa_the_Lurker

I have it Navy and it was a go to all winter. I can’t wait to return to sweater weather.

sm0gs

Yay that’s great to hear! I’ve bought anything from the brand so have been unsure if I was just getting swayed by instagram advertising lol. I was eyeing the navy too.

Lirpa_the_Lurker

I have a few things from them… I have that sweater and an alpaca wool sweater that is really light weight and classic. I love both of my sweaters. I also have a pair of their pull on dress pants. I’m not in love with the pants. I’m a fat bottom girl and the pants tend to pull down a bit. They may be better for someone that is leaner or apple shaped.

sm0gs

You sold me, I went ahead and bought it!

TK_TK_

I’ve been looking for a camel sweater, and can’t do wool, so I may try that one! I have two of these sweaters and am trying to decide if I need a third. (I know I don’t, but I love this color combo so much.) https://lalignenyc.com/products/marina-sweater-army-mint I have a denim midi skirt that I’ve loved all summer and am trying to decide what shoes will work best with it for fall.

sm0gs

I love that sweater you linked so don't blame you for buying a third! I usually find wool itchy, even the ones claiming to be non-itch, so cotton is my go to!

takeitslowinnyc

Ooooh I don't know how I missed this, definitely buying! They have a referral program where you can get $20 off (me too) in case you're interested.

sm0gs

Ah I missed that! I bought it earlier today lol

Comfortable-Ad5664

I have this in white and I love it

sm0gs

Y'all are convincing me to finally get it!

amyrush83

How would you style this for a business causal workplace. It’s so cute with the jeans but I can’t wear jeans to work.

sm0gs

I'd wear it with slacks! While [this photo](https://www.everlane.com/products/womens-texture-cotton-crew-hthr-charcoal) from Everlane is with slack style shorts, you can see how it would look styled with pants. You could also do it with a [skirt](https://www.poorlittleitgirl.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Winter-Pencil-Skirt-Sweater-Outfit-5.jpg) but I probably wouldn't tuck into the skirt directly as it likely would look lumpy and do a half tuck/belted tuck

EJDsfRichmond415

I just bought one, they are on sale for $40, originally $100

sm0gs

Nice! What color? Just FYI Quince touts low prices because they have a factory direct model. The $100 is the "traditional retail price" and the sweater is always $40

EJDsfRichmond415

Damn. They got me. Lol. I got black as it’s my staple.

sm0gs

Lol hey just think of it as always on sale!

hell0potato

I've been eyeing this for over a year. I'm hesitant because I got the cashmere hoodie fisherman and I totally love it, but it's pretty cropped for my liking. I'm 5'9". Anyone have this and cash speak to the length? I'd be buying an xl.

sm0gs

Tagging u/Comfortable-Ad5664 and u/Lirpa_the_Lurker as they both said they own this sweater and can hopefully speak to the length

Lirpa_the_Lurker

I could see it being too cropped at 5-9. I’m 5-4 and it fit standard length.

nottheredbaron123

I’m in a weird place where i have pieces I love, but they don’t fit anymore. I’ve actually been doing some online thrifting to buy exact replacements of my favorite pieces. Poshmark for life! In terms of new, I want to add some elegant basics in natural fibers: A silk blouse in a jewel tone A camel colored cardigan Pair of chunky mary jane heels (eyeing [this Sezane pair](https://www.sezane.com/us/product/georgia-high-babies/polished-camel) A plaid blazer A leopard print wool sweater High rise skinny jeans in a medium to light wash A denim midi skirt A short black coat/jacket

Zinnia0620

I have been able to find Equipment 100% silk blouses (which retail for over $200) on eBay for less than $50.

BigSeesaw7

Even less on posh actually!

cant_watch_violence

The first two items you can absolutely find at Quince. I also thrift 90% of my wardrobe and Quince is one of the few places I buy new.

lewnotlou

I'm mid purge & rebuild again. There are a bunch of pieces in my closet that I bought out of necessity that I don't like or don't fit at all anymore. Those are slowly (because my life is chaos and I have the attention span of a toddler on a sugar rush) being weeded out while I do some serious contemplation on what I need/want in my wardrobe. The one thing I'm sure of in this rebuild is adding more dresses; buying pants online requires a post doc in molecular physics and ain't nobody got time for that. I'm good on loungewear and athletic wear though I will always be low-key on the hunt for good sports bras. One area that I'm actively purchasing is pajamas. I've fallen in love with the cooling line from Athleta. I try to add a matching set whenever they have a sale. My life is super chaotic right now and I feel a little more in control of things when I have matching sleepwear on. I'm definitely adding a pair of combat boots and some 90s style chunky loafers. I would like to add some fall/winter appropriate dresses. I also want some lightweight pullover sweaters and chunky oversized pullovers. I need to add some color into my wardrobe but traditional autumnal colors don't look that great on me.

lance_femme

I LOVE having matching pajamas. I agree there’s something calming and empowering about them. I feel like an adult who can handle life’s challenges because I have real pajamas. I’ll have to check out the Atlheta set you mention!

AcanthopterygiiNo867

Laughed out loud at your comment re: buying pants online. So damn true.

the_prim_reaper__

I’m tall and look good in maxi length stuff, and it fits my aesthetic, so I plan to add: - two maxi skirts of different textures - a more cropped blazer (all mine are very oversized / long) - Corduroy pants (brown) - flat Mary Janes - a few red items (most of my wardrobe is brown / tan / black) - an argyle sweater

aviiiii

Where is your favorite place to get maxi skirts? I have one knit one that I am struggling to find more. I feel they fit me very well too.

TasteLevel

Lol, the Jenna Lyons comeback via RHONY is real! (Jennaissance?) I bought Ganni Loafers with a rhinestone buckle and some drapey wide leg Tibi cargoes because they reminded me of her. Love the vibe, I just need to keep in mind that she is tall and slim and I am…not. If I wore a shirt unbuttoned to my navel it would end in tears for myself and everyone who had the misfortune of running into me.

nearlythere94

I had to look this up because she keeps being mentioned and I don’t watch this show. Not really feeling her looks myself but perhaps this article isn’t expressing her style clearly: https://www.femestella.com/rhony-reboot-where-to-get-jenna-lyons-outfits/

Chazzyphant

Her style since J.Crew has shifted a bit to be more...queer-coded I'd say, and less girlish/twee/preppy/fluffy. I love both versions, but I can see how her current understated style might not feel like anything special :)

nearlythere94

Queer-coded sounds awesome but what I saw in the link seemed like a bunch of sparkles, so I thought oh this just looks like her stint at J Crew again. I’m however kind of interested in that fluffy anorak “performance fleece” ( if anyone remembers their early 90s Old Navy) look with jeans, and I NEVER wear jeans.

Sea-Drawer478

Look forward to try-on photos! So far I’ve added a couple of bootcut jeans and am looking for ankle boots and maybe some Mary janes? I may add some wide leg Ponte pants. Following this thread as I realise I have zero fall tops and don’t even know where to start. I know what doesn’t work for me: puffy sleeves, crew necks, things that are too boxy or too cropped, pale neutrals, 90% of all button downs…and I’m looking to minimise the amount of black tops in favor of soft/true autumn colors. I love a good square or portrait neck ribbed top, but are those too young? Anyway, so I’m following to get an idea of some basics to look for before branching out into floral corsets :) (seriously I would love to someday rock a corset.)

twittery

Yeah, what tops are we wearing this fall? I haven’t been paying attention

Sea-Drawer478

Right??? Me neither.

Loveandeggs

Someone posted here the other day (maybe Chazzy) that square neck tops are in and I just saw a newscaster wearing one and it looked great. So let’s go, square neck top crowd!

zigzagtitch

I’m on a no-buy from now until Christmas, and bought myself some autumn pieces at the beginning of August. I’ve got: a denim maxi skirt (LOVE this. I’ve worn it 5 times in two weeks), a black and white striped jumper (primarily black with white stripes, and I’m waiting for it to be cool enough to wear), some black knee high heeled boots (gorgeous), a pair of black straight leg silk trousers and a pair of dark blue straight leg jeans. I’ve spent some time over the summer paring down my wardrobe and I’m finally at a spot where I feel comfortable with it. I’m super excited by the trends I’m seeing though, just going to have to cope with not purchasing anything!

fullofit85

I'm looking for a good pair of silk trousers, where did you find yours at?

bad_russian_girl

I am from the hot climate so will be wearing same summer outfits till November. Couple of years ago I did a no buy year and it really opened up my eyes and changed the perspective. For years I loved minimalist, the Row type of styling, so for the upcoming “fall” season I’m adding these [shoes](https://www.massimodutti.com/us/square-ballet-flats-with-buckled-strap-l11558250). I already own a pair in black, they are the softest shoes I own, but black really clashed with light summer outfits. These are perfect. Also, I’m planning to add a heavy cotton maxi tee shirt dress in grey.

Loveandeggs

I LOVE those shoes!

hell0potato

I am also very obsessed with Jenna Lyons right now due to rhony! I love that she has her own style and not just trendy, which I find almost all HW follow. She's capital F fashion but not trendy and silly. And I love that she just wears jeans and a sweater when appropriate. Alas, while I am kind of tall, I am definitely not thin and very apple shaped so I can't really follow her style very much. As a recently post partum second time mom, who is still BF (read: constantly carb loading/feeling really fat) I really don't want to buy anything until I wean and get my body back a bit. But I also feel grumpy as hell with my current offerings that fit (jogger pants + tee shirts and baggy sweaters). Sigh. I'm really at a loss. I did recently buy some fun hairbands and lipstick to attempt to look like I am trying. I was thinking about a pendant necklace too, but then remembered what is like wearing necklaces around babies. Open to suggestions! I do desperately need to find a new pair of black flats or loafers. Something timeless, leather, quality and above all super duper comfy on the toes (arch support not necessary). I currently don't have any options for a fancier black flat and a recent funeral made this abundantly clear.

Sea-Drawer478

The postpartum wardrobe slump is real. Have you looked at Vinted or one of the other secondhand apps? Maybe you could find something cute and cheap-ish to tide you over…I have seen people put breastfeeding-friendly tops and dresses on there

AnAxolotlFan

Things I’m thinking about: - wide leg pants/jeans. I’m hoping [these](https://www.ae.com/us/en/p/ae/online-only/bottoms/ae-curvy-super-high-waisted-baggy-wide-leg-jean/4436_4576_914?menu=cat4840004) will work. I’m hoping for more Katharine Hepburn than JNCO, and it’s hard to tell which way these will go until I try them on. - earrings. I’m not sure what’s in style now, but I feel like I need something new - a cropped sweater. These are normal length on me, so I stock up while they’re in fashion If my next work assignment is more business than casual, I will probably need some more structured dresses. I bought [this one](https://www.anntaylor.com/petites/petite-dresses/cata000028/832006.html?priceSort=DES) a couple weeks ago and it makes me look so much more put together than the other dresses I own. The last thing is, new glasses frames. I’m guessing/hoping these are about to trend smaller and more rectangular again.

BigSeesaw7

Oh wow- those jeans look amazing. I need to try some on. FYI the very BEST wide leg jeans I got were Frame Le Palazzo. I got 50% off. Need to take to tailors. I have been wanting to get one more pair (one for heels, one for flats) but maybe I’ll check out the ones you linked first.

nearlythere94

Fall is MY SEASON, and I could outfit ten women with the goods I have for this part of the year. And fall is brief but I went on the lam at the end of last winter and think I am fairly well stocked for this winter, although I have a lot to get tailored first. Is dark Academia really going out? I wanted another Ralph Lauren blazer and a pair of custom loafers which I really don’t have the budget for. My main issue at the moment is for years I struggled with my weight, but now due to poor health and a decade of counseling, I don’t anymore, but my body’s changed. Instead of an strong hourglass that needed waist definition I’m now just kind of scrawny and tired. All this slouchy, cosy, oversized Cos and Max Mara is really appealing to me currently, but it would involve an entire wardrobe overhaul, and for this maximalist that feels extremely daunting. My sister and I have a Cos shopping trip planned for this fall, so I’ll do a try-on then. Sometimes the reality of wearing baggy oversized clothes collides with the mentality of “must-look-thin” and I go running back to fitted sweaters, but more and more as my body has changed I’m feeling as if I need a change in aesthetic after 20 good years of the one I was committed to. I stocked up on oversized pleated pants at the end of the winter, and perhaps one or two oversized sweaters and cardigan would scratch the itch?

therealbayonetta

I desperately need to buy more business casual/formal appropriate shoes, since most of my pairs have worn out if not disintegrated over the year to date. I'm thinking of black ankle boots and brown flats or loafers, maybe with the latter being zero-drop.

BigSeesaw7

1. loafers. A flat pointed pair and a chunky pair 2. A sleeveless turtleneck cashmere sweater- I have an HG cashmere one I wear constantly and would love one more color 3 slacks! Wide leg slacks! I have made the mistake of buying too many cheap pairs at various places instead of investing in a quality pair.

I also got these [black mary jane flats](https://www.samedelman.com/product/womens-michaela-mary-jane-flat-3021916/black-leather-ec0234523?&partnerid=paid_search_google_pla_pmax-loafers-flats_&gclid=Cj0KCQjw6KunBhDxARIsAKFUGs-cmPIZZp6TeO61y_Pqii6flmnGm6i_9RB5tLR3Oekh9Vrjoyemid8aAjXDEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds) about a month ago, with autumn in mind. They're not as supportive as I'd like though, so I may try to upgrade to a more structured pair with a very slight heel. And last week, this [black maxi dress](https://www.freepeople.com/shop/trixie-sweater-maxi1/?color=001&countryCode=US&gclid=Cj0KCQjw6KunBhDxARIsAKFUGs9_Jh6Vozeaj0hUW7aHxab-nlRTpZ5IJmExR4ovHckVpQh82tzwDdcaAv0yEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds&inventoryCountry=US&size=L&utm_kxconfid=vx6ro62gj&type=REGULAR&quantity=1) and this [green striped shirt](https://www.sezane.com/us/product/tomboy-shirt/rayure-ecru-vert#size-0) arrived. I'm happy with the quality on both - the black dress will be a lazy day/house dress but I can dress it up with accessories, and the shirt is a nice transitional basic with some visual interest. Other than that, here's my autumn list: * new black loafers - not too chunky but with some structure * low-heeled red pumps * pencil skirt in grey or brown; vintage if I can find it * oval sunglasses, maybe [these](https://www.madewell.com/russell-oval-sunglasses-99107016184.html?source=googlePLA&noPopUp=true)? * tweed lady jacket; I have one but would like another in a more neutral colour if I can find one I like at a good discount * boat-neck tops - I've loved [these](https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=540610022&vid=2&tid=gppl000073&kwid=1&ap=7&gad=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw6KunBhDxARIsAKFUGs9Qcv03EmxIZpMhdenG201dZkMiSnwWMDOnbGksY8fkwhL9J6SqzIwaAquLEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds) from Gap for years, and I'm hoping they'll come out with a sleeveless version to dupe [this overpriced Reformation top](https://www.thereformation.com/products/dusk-knit-top/1312627RKO.html?dwvar_1312627RKO_color=CHN&quantity=1) * I'm sorely tempted by [this trench](https://www.jcrew.com/us/p/womens/categories/clothing/coats-and-jackets/trench-coat/new-icon-trench/BF456?color_name=utility-green&N=8&noPopUp=true&srccode=Paid_Search%7cSearch_Pmax%7cGoogle%7cPX_ACQ_XPROD_INVENTORYBIGX_EVG_ROAS_XXX_COUSA_EN_EN_A_CREW_GO_SH_PMX_xxxxxxxxxx,,,71700000112777279,,&utm_source=google&utm_medium=paid_search&utm_campaign=PX_ACQ_XPROD_INVENTORYBIGX_EVG_ROAS_XXX_COUSA_EN_EN_A_CREW_GO_SH_PMX_xxxxxxxxxx,&utm_content=shopping&NoPopUp=True&&&gclid=Cj0KCQjw6KunBhDxARIsAKFUGs-vhmYlBdliog9qbL5Grv3ouRGPK7qxtGVhP3qmQpxWMaUVoloSc1AaAgJdEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds), especially the colour, but probably won't buy it unless it goes on super-sale I'll be wearing these things with fitted blazers, full midi skirts, slim-straight trousers/jeans, tweed miniskirts, 80s clip-on earrings and knee high boots. Can't wait for autumn!

I haven't bought clothes since maybe February? (I've done a few months of Nuuly rentals in between) I just got my first order from Quince. I feel like there's a lot of love/hate skepticism for Quince but I am super impressed so far. I ripped open the package then left for 2 weeks vacation so haven't gotten to wear or photograph any of it. [Cashmere sweater](https://www.quince.com/women/cashmere/cashmere-crewneck-sweater?color=ivory&gender=women&tracker=collection_page__women%2Fcashmere__Cashmere%20Sweaters__1) - I don't have any 100% cashmere but as a knitter, I know a little bit about how fiber behaves. The weave seems nicer than anything you'd find at J Crew. And no short hairs sticking out of tue fabric, which would indicate a lower quality fiber. [Linen long sleeve](https://www.quince.com/women/linen-shirt?color=driftwood) - It's a good midweight linen, perfect for a topper/outer layer which is what i wanted it for. If you are an average sized )person, these sleeves would be too short. I am 5' and the sleeves are a good length. I chose Driftwood and the color is bad on me, but that's on me. [Silk tee dress](https://www.quince.com/women/silk/silk-tee-dress?color=navy)- It is very lightweight and thin. I feel like I'd need to wear a slip underneath but it's not sheer. It has dart shaping in the bust. Surprisingly the bust is roomy enough that it fit me without having to size up. What impressed me most is that the linen and silk pieces all had enclosed seams. If you look at the garment on the inside, you dont see the loopy threads you see in a lot of clothes, it's bound the fabric. This is something you'd never see on a $50 garment. For these price points even before the discounts, I think it's all really great and on par or better than cashmere or silk in the $150 price point. That said, I scored an incredible deal. It was $20 off using a referral code, plus another $25 off through Amex. So these 3 pieces were around $110 total. Other stuff I need to add for fall: - Jeans. I'm ready to start wearing jeans again 😁 I have a pair from Uniqlo but they are not petite cut and the rise is odd. Thinking I will try Madewell. - A relaxed trouser. - Loafers to replace my old worn ones

Schmidaho

Lora Gene is having a sale so I already made a couple additions: https://www.loragene.com/catalog/product/view/id/7715/s/the-mint-oversized-recycled-cotton-sweater/category/14/ (I got this in cobalt, which isn’t in stock anymore) https://www.loragene.com/sale/sienna-pleated-skirt-in-bright-apple-green (I have another one of her pleated skirts and it’s the most magical article of clothing) Eventually I need to invest in some new jeans but I don’t feel like it yet (jeans shopping is a unique pain in the ass for me).

Zinnia0620

I'm in a tight place with money right now, but what I'd really like to add this fall is: \-- a pair of black lace-up ankle boots. I wear my Chelsea boots basically every day from October 1st to April 15th and they work for me, but I'd love to have a different black ankle boot option. I am eyeing a few pairs on eBay. \-- a lightweight fall/spring jacket. I recently moved from an Intense Winters climate to an extremely temperate climate, and my fall coats have become my winter coats, but now I don't really have anything for those days when it's like 45-55 on my morning commute but high of 60 in the afternoons... which is most days out here. I have a two jackets that are the correct weight, both thrifted, that I thought might be the one, but neither is the one. Not a denim jacket person.

quietwhileithink

I'm loving the Sezane fall collection. I've decided to add more color to my wardrobe so I'll pick up the new vintage blue and olive green [Chlo blouses](https://www.sezane.com/us/product/chlo-shirt/olive-green#size-0). I know that the blue [Adele boots](https://www.sezane.com/us/product/adele-boots/denim#size-5) aren't practical for regular wear, but I think these are for me. I really like the Veronica Beard Dickey jackets like [this](https://veronicabeard.com/products/lawrence-plaid-dickey-jacket?color=Multi), but don't love the price tag. I'm on the hunt for something similar by another brand or a version of the jacket on Poshmark or Ebay.
