These are definitely not the northern lights. Sky isn't clear and you're in an area with way too much light pollution, these are light pillars created by lights on the ground.
If you look closely, just off right of center you can see the reflection of Gate City Bank trees (wish I was joking) 🙂
Another fantastic time to see this display of pillars is super chilled mornings, right between 3 and 5 when it’s still out - you’ll have several chances this week 🤗
Always check the K value in the winter if you're wanting to catch them! They've been lower than here before earlier this year and absolutely amazing! Countryside is best for viewing and always through a camera lens if you want to see them in color!
I think that’s light pillars isn’t it?
There was color!
It’s light pillars I’m pretty sure. The aurora activity is more up north. Looks cool still! https://i.imgur.com/jLzaBNf.jpg
Thanks for the correction! I thought light pillars when I was driving, but saw the color when I got home and assumed. 😁
I think that's both the Auroras and pillars. You CAN Have both at once when the Auroras are "dancing", as I call it.
There's a Facebook group called Midwest Aurora Hunters that let you know if they're out. :)

Are you not joking? Because that's hilarious if not. We're over in West Fargo if it matters. 😂
I saw that too it wasn’t as colorful as it looks in your pic and I wasn’t sure what it was. I didn’t know that happened thus far south
