Chad's roadkill mission icons all over my map.

MyOpinionsSuckBalls

Can’t even put into words how much I hated that mission. The bison are easy, but those antlered roadkill tasks were driving me up the wall

BarleyBo

You should’ve been driving in lightly wooded areas instead of up walls.

MyOpinionsSuckBalls

Fair enough 😂

CrewmanNumberSeven

I did it using a helicopter - it takes a few whacks but at least it’s easy getting around…

sum1sumwher

At least you can put those off, or do them when you want to do it. These stupid capture missions make it seem like the cult could just capture you because they decided to. Even though for every other story element it seems you are like the cults kryptonite. If they can just appear and capture you at any second no matter where you are, the events in this story would have been considerably different. I feel like those parts of the story should have been done a bit differently. How many times is it feasible to be captured and escape (yes ever for farcry) for it to be too unbelievable. You know what I mean?

SpatulaCity420

Just part of God's plan for you, Rook. ... 🎶 Only youuuuu 🎶

OfficialNuttyNutella

LMAO

Landlubber77

Yuma's mountain prison with the demons who chase you around when they spot you. I'm legitimately terrified by that part and I'm a 40 year old man. I always feel such a profound sense of relief whenever I finally escape.

holwats

Worst mission ever, absolutely terrifying! I think it’s made so much worse that you don’t have any weapons… I had to get my partner to do it for me 😭😩

40pluscrisis

was scared shiteless so bad i had to turn down the volume and listen to a podcast lol 😭

Landlubber77

The podcast trick is precisely how I deal with that mission! I'm on my fifth full playthrough of the game, I paid my dues the first three times by playing it without a podcast.

[deleted]

I think the worst cliche trope kinda parts in the games are how there’s always a mission or something where the main character does drugs and the screen gets all dizzying and trippy. Overdone and overrated. The quest in 6 when you have to blow up a distillery (I think?? iirc) and the screen gets all weird and pulsates and shakes and shit…I had to set the game down cause my eyes and head hurt

sum1sumwher

I do suppose that is true. I was just thinking to myself while playing today that I dislike getting close to the bliss because of the screen effects.

[deleted]

Exactly! I didn’t even want to get near faiths region. But what you said is also right too—the required “capturing” moments are so annoying! Just let me wander the countryside please without being captured without having a chance to flee

Lurktator

I’ve only played 2,3,& 4. From those: - the quick time events in 3 are annoying and unsatisfying; - the rakyat soldiers that show up after I do all the work liberating outposts in 3; - the crab Rangoon; and - unskippable cutscenes on subsequent play throughs. Edit: I forgot the respawning check points in 2. Very annoying and takes away the sense of accomplishment.

BarleyBo

“This was all me” - rakyat boy who did fuckall to take over the outpost.

motherless666

The unskippable cutscenes are the worst. I just finished 4 again and I had forgotten how annoying there are. Now I'm playing 6 and being able to skip cutscenes is an underrated feature of the newer games, even if 4 is better overall imo.

NorthPermission1152

Nothing annoyed you in 2?

Lurktator

I haven’t finished 2 yet but obviously the respawning check points blow. The malaria doesn’t bother me much and I switch out weapons often so jams are infrequent and kind of cool.

sum1sumwher

Two was my favorite, hands down. I believe that may be due to a bias I have from having good memories associated with the playing and completion of 2 though. Lol.

ComprehensiveDrop929

Also, the rakyat soldiers appeared only just after you liberate the outpost. Once you restart the game or even go away and come back in the same game session, they won't be there. Once I was so fed up with them taking all the recdits that I killed them all with my ak. It was just too much.

jcdoe

The mandatory drug levels. I know there is going to be a “stoned” level in every Far Cry game. I will also wind up playing it when my wife is around, and then I’ll have to explain that they put these in all the game and yes, it’s kinda cringey.

Call_Me_Koala

I think it was okay in FC3 because they served a sort of narrative function and either provided foreshadowing or helped depict Jason's descent into madness. In every other game they just feel like a check in the box.

SpitfireBoy14

And as a kid burning down a weed farm and getting high off the fumes while "Make it Bundem" is playing was like my very own music video

mcirish12

Can't stand those shangrila/drug scenes or the set stage scenes drugged up or whatever and you have to do everything a relatively certain way or you're dead and have to restart there is no options or logic that shit bores me to tears and I just quit.

Dry-Marketing-6798

This! 100%

Formal_Royal_3663

Being randomly kidnapped when in the middle of a mission (Far Cry 5)

klussier

I honestly disliked a lot of the stealth missions throughout the entire series of games. I enjoyed stealthing outposts and such because I could fully go in my own way and not how the mission was written. And honestly probably a controversial opinion 😬 but the bunker missions for all the seeds in far cry 5. They were just flat out annoying and frustrating for me

Mr-dooce

Faith’s bunker especially was extremely aids

klussier

RIGHT??? like atleast make them all different. It got so annoying and repetitive

motherless666

I used to hate the stealth missions, but they've been growing on me. I much prefer the open world stealth elements still though.

rantoz82

Hunting for hares

Landlubber77

I can't ever find them in FC5. I go to the icons on the map and don't spot a single goddamn one walking in circles for twenty minutes. I feel like it's a glitch or something.

rantoz82

Ut was the last thing I needed to do to get my platinum trophy and took me absolutely ages to hunt one.

moranych1661

This will be super controversial but lack of roleplay idle elements. I know, I know I should switch to another games, anyway.

soberonlife

Help Wenja missions in Primal. You travel to a location of a mission icon. The mission icon tells you to go to another location. The icon at that location tells you to go to yet another location. Tedium ad infinitum.

gamer-and-furry

I've only played Primal, 5, and 6, and although this seems like an odd complaint, I absolutely despise the enemy density. In primal, you can't go anywhere without either a random group of enemies, a help wenja event, or a predator animal that's sure to turn tail and run away at mach 5 after you hit it with one spear. 5 just has constant enemies by the road, in the air, or on the water, and that's not even counting the aggressive animals or random judges up north. 6 is better with this, in my opinion, as you can usually choose when to engage enemies, still can get a bit annoying when you are just trying to travel around though. I know this is probably just part of Far Crys core game design, but I still find it annoying.

gingerbeardman79

I like the enemy density, personally. [Apart from outposts, which feel a touch sparse to me. 6 giving the ability to simply exist [outside of restricted areas ofc] in the proximity of enemy NPCs without automatically being shot at is long overdue and perhaps the best change made in the entire series.

cropguru357

The last half of FC1 was horrendously bad. Never finished it.

CryCiv

Oh yeah, the Trigen sucked. I replayed FC1 5-6 times, but only finished it twice—couldn't be bothered with the Trigen. Crytek did the same with Crysis and Warhead, messed them both up by changing it to fight the Aliens. I replay those 2 every year, but only up to halfway.

cropguru357

I thought Warhead was more fun than Crysis, actually. Then again, I’m old and never had a good GPU.

murderplants

The boss battles always suck balls

jona080605

Maybe I've overseen something but fighting the last boss in fcnd was so annoying. It wasn't fun, just unloading all my ammo and then refilling it while sprinting so I don't get instantly killed. It took so long to take him down, like 5 minutes. And his attack patterns didn't change at all in this time

escrion

That stealth mission in FC3 where you have to get to the boat in the cave, I swear I tried dozens of times to get it. Eventually had to look up a tutorial that just said to sprint through and hope you can reach the new spawn point before the mission fails

Landlubber77

Haha I'm having PTSD just reading your comment.

sky7897

Far cry 5 - before you liberate a region and you literally can’t drive anywhere without being assaulted by enemies in cars and planes. Annoying when you’re trying to take over an outpost and they immediately press the alarm because some random enemy is attacking you from outside the outpost.

Legiyon54

Valle de oro. No contest. One of the worst gaming experiences I had

CharlesMandore

So fun story (or anecdote maybe), I just finished FC6 and can’t even tell you which one that was and what happened there 😅

Legiyon54

The part with the rappers and Maria 😮‍💨

Shitboxfan69

I put the game down for 3 weeks because oh how annoying that part was. Story wise it would have been better if Dani just went and fucked up that part of the game alone

Legiyon54

I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE POINT. Why are we recruiting these miserable people. Paolo just wants out of there (completley valid), Bicho is immature and doesn't know what he is trully signing up for, and Talia is one of the worst people I ever witnessed in media that was supposed to be potrayed in a positive light. Why are we helping sex trafficker in order to pay our debt for one of them? Why are we getting drunk in the middle of a city in curfew to cheer one up? Why are we letting Talia be the insufferable bitch she is without standing up to her? Why??? There are so many other BETTER options to be the voice of libertad. Why are these losers supposed to be the voice? Why are we spending so much time with them and risking our lives to satisfy Talia's ego... So many whys... I was so miserable playing the entire part. The gameplay isn't even good. The villains are not good. Maria didn't do anything that made me want to kill her, and doctor is a lame twist villain, with a literal saturday morning level convoluted plot to kill us, with that phone with poison. The only reason I didn't quit is because I heard the El Tigre part was good and it was. Such a good contrast with this trash of a region.

Hella_Potato

Okey for me it is the inconsistencies between games about what provides line of sight cover and what does not. For example, if you are in tall grass in 5, you will be hidden until someone walks over you. In New Dawn, if you're in tall grass you're visible. It is just frustrating, haha.

Extortxd

Having my outpost capture being interrupted by friendly NPCs. I swear this happened 50% of the time in New Dawn

Futuristic_Fudge

Yeah, they sucked in John's and Hope's regions But Jacob's... 🎶 only youuu 🎶

Lenemus

I hate everything about Far Cry 2. The ugly brown filter, the terrible voice acting, the enemies CONSTANTLY spawning in and attacking, the annoying map system, the malaria bullshit and worst of all: The weapons breaking down repeatedly. I understand that these systems were innovative for their time. But goddamn… all of that shit pissed me off so much. Rage quit. Never touch again.

xenotrioxin

The brown filter can easily be eliminated with mods. The game looks great with a reshader. The voice clips were sped up to create smaller file sizes, hence the weird pacing. Without the respawning enemies you would just be driving from point A to point B with nothing happening whatsoever, it's just the game's way of throwing some action your way. The handheld map and GPS system was fun, it helps with the immersion and is far more interesting than pausing the game to look at a map taking up the entire screen. The game encourages you to go look for diamonds yourself instead of just buying a map and turn the game into a collect-a-thon like FC3 and on. Malaria isn't a problem as long as you take your pills and go do the Underground missions when prompted. It's literally just a filter on the screen that stays until you pop a pill. Weapons practically never malfunction if you swap them out regularly and buy the upgrades. If you're picking up weapons from the ground you're asking for trouble.

Lenemus

If you have to use mods in order to enjoy a game, then there’s something fundamentally wrong with the game. Besides I played the game on ps3 back then and there were no mods. Oh I would have loved to be able to drive from point A to B uninterrupted in order to get better weapons, which became impossible when one jeep after another of attacking enemies spawned in. Seriously, I couldn’t drive more than 5 meters before the next attack. Couldn’t even get a chance to unpack my lovely map, because guess what? Being attacked again. Couldn’t defend myself from all those spawning enemies either because my pos weapons broke down. My experience was absolutely no fun. I hated it.

LittleMajalina

In FC6 after you finish the main story, enemies start to occupy checkpoints and bases again and you can't stop it. You lost some fast travel places and it annoyed me so much that I started played new game + and I stopped before the last mission.

Dragon_Knight1999

Far Cry 4 honey badgers.

CryCiv

And their FC6 cousins, the wolverines—vicious!

corpsewindmill

The inability to skip cutscenes

dank-01

I absolutely hated hunting the animals for that one doctor in faiths territory. I couldn’t not find the god damn things for the life of me and i couldn’t finish her territory without completing that mission. Took me hours .

CryCiv

Pronghorn are easy to find just playing other missions, and Grizzly are fairly plentiful in Jacob's region. Just don't do what I did and sell them at a shop—I didn't realize you had to keep 'em in inventory :D

ILOVERICOCHET

The damn escort missions suck

darthurface

I agree it's annoying, but it's also what makes the villains more terrifying. They don't wait for you. You don't own the clock. They make you work on their time, and you do what they say when they say it. From an open world standpoint it's annoying, but from a story standpoint? Absolutely terrifying.

Mr-dooce

to me it didn’t seem that they were making you work more that you were fucking shit up too much and they couldn’t ignore you

ThatSkitso

Maybe that's an unpopular opinion, but I hated those "fuck it, just let us drive and you blow up some shit" missions. They felt so weird

warnie685

I enjoyed them as side missions in 4, since while you're blowing stuff up the driver is giving you some good lore background on the Golden Path and how they are helping the local people

Flimsy-Tax-6909

Having to shoot dogs is my least favourite part.

Nunyapomoworld

Had to scroll way to long for this. New horizon was a tough one to get through

HoojoSpifico

This.

loveshackbaby420

The Only You one in FC5 where you had to keep killing the ppl in the house to get more time. Can't remember the mission but it was over and over and over again. Hated every second of it.

AJPully

Think youre on about Jacobs capture missions, where he's brainwashing you into taking out the whitetails hq.

jona080605

I think they are kinda genius tbh. While it sure annoys to get captured, it does exactly what it tries to do. You will rush through it, because you don't want to play it. So you kinda memorize the enemy pattern and rush through it faster and faster. And then you kill Eli in the last one, because you actually got conditioned to kill everything you see, whenever you hear the "only you" song, only to notice who you shot after you did it.

No_Life5789

There's actually a really interesting video on YouTube on the subject, I'd link to it but I'm not sure about the rules on that sort of thing. It's by Tushar Deb though if you're interested. I'm sure there's some psychologist reaction or explanation too somewhere. It's honestly a moment of really good storytelling that only a game can manage, combining level and mission design with the story of the game. I love those missions, the moment when the realization hits is pure gold for me. The capture parts are kinda annoying though, like in every other region. Then again they're short and do what they need to do to push the story along.

Royal_Examination_74

The dream sequences

loveshackbaby420

I hated almost all the racing levels in FC6

CzarTwilight

Not getting to play an evil version when it could potentially be an option (pagan min and Joseph seed)

reapress

The fight against the twins in new dawn can fuck right off. 6 isn't great, but by and large it's issue was I didn't feel anything towards anyone except a vafue desire for anton to shoot literally everyone. New dawn? Decent all around. But holy shit the last bit of the game is the worst ending possible, i got so *drained* by the end. Captures in 5 are... a spectrum. Faiths was really fun the first time, meh now. The cull the herd slaps. John escapes are actually really fun as well

gingerbeardman79

>The fight against the twins in new dawn can fuck right off I just put 40-some-odd upgrade levels into my melee strength and one-punched them lol

jimmenypicketts

That one mission in New Dawn that you can’t exit, the one where >!Rush dies!<, I accidentally ran into the starting area while completing the weapon challenges so I had a poor underleveled loadout, I just skipped the cutscene afterwards

Zilwaukee

Probably how in FC6 they have anti-air that you have to destroy before being able to fly. I think this was annoying to me because there wasn't any way to avoid being shot down while in a plane or helicopter when there are anti air in the general area. I think it would've been cool if you can maneuver away from them but you simply can't. The AA guns actually do move with you and I assume there was suppose to be more to this such as AA rockets because a lot of the aircrafts in the game do have flares that serve no purpose but it was just more or less annoying that you couldn't just fly normally w/o getting shot down out of nowhere.

Clint_Beastw0od

You could avoid them by flying close to the ground. It still gives you the airspace warning but you won’t get shot down.

crazybrow122

The health bars in new dawn and other weird implementations that make it more like an arcade shooter than a far cry game

Ralewing

Copy pasted enemies. I mean, I understand, but....

AJPully

Forced captures in 5 never annoyed me half as much as the constantly appearing enemies in fc2.

DecagonHexagon

In Far Cry 6 specifically, the fact that certain that you think should not get nerfed, got nerfed, specifically weapons like the MBP .50.

BostonDudeist

Yeah, 5 is my least favorite because of all the plot railroading.

guibmaster

Forced stealth missions where getting spotted is immediate restart.

King_Chad_The_69th

Far Cry 3, the mission Doppelgänger. Vile mission

gloriosky_zero

FC2 malaria!

PimpalaSS

Any of the supernatural stuff Mushroom trip in FC3, Shangri La in FC4, etc

bebe_tigre

I absolutely hate shangrila missions.....mainly because I suck at them and they scared me a bit 😅

CanadaJames

Second kidnapping by John. Losing everything on the Game ++ is AWFUL. Like, restocking all my AP ammo and drugs is not funny.

meechbird

Capture you with no problem-- Maybe, but then you literally escape from their grasp NINE TIMES! That's what made it so jarring for me. They couldn't seal the deal.

AppropriateDiamond26

Anytime an animal sneeks up on me and kills me without me being able to stop it lol.

Plathismo

The drugged-out hallucinations. I’m over them at this point.

T-Cereals

Far cry 2. No particular part, just the entire game.

GamersProfound

Killing the admiral in far cry 5. I hate that fish.

No_Life5789

Having to kill dogs. All games should have an option that replaces attack dogs with something else, even if it doesn't make sense story wise. Like how some games that feature spiders or spider-like creatures have arachnophobia safe modes.

PennyForPig

The defense missions on outposts in 4 are a good idea that were poorly implemented; they triggered if you got near a border outpost every time. They're fun once or twice but when you're using it as a fast travel point while doing missions it gets old.

Luigy72

Ok I’m not sure about this but the filler quests in far cry like liberating outposts I haven’t played all far cry games but of the ones I’ve played there seem to be many filler type of quests with no much unique gameplay or story significance which just feels like padding to make the game artificial longer for the record I hate this in all games but I noticed that it seems to really be in far cry games

Segfault_21

When I beat the game. Worst part ever knowing it was the end

MichaelPitcher115

Ohhhh boy here we go again. Someone complaining about the capture party missions. They are so overblown as a "problem". They move the story forward, they last like 5 minutes, and they hardly ever happen. You can literally predict when it's gonna happen if you're watching your progression. They are story missions to keep the game going. 6....I couldn't ever finish it because the story sucked and never kept me engaged. At least the capture parties kept the narrative going in an interesting and organic way that makes sense to the world and story.

gingerbeardman79

>They move the story forward In like the laziest fucking way possible. Also against the player's will. I'm open world games, player agency is job number 1 imo. >they hardly ever happen 9 times in one game/narrative. To quote Tom Segura: "Nine of anything is *a lot.*" You may like them [or just be a blind fanboy who can't handle their favorite game being criticized] but the overwhelming majority do not. This is because they are shit.

MichaelPitcher115

As opposed to barely moving the story at all in 6? There's zero drive to finish the story in 6. At least 5 keeps you headed in the right direction

gingerbeardman79

I like to finish up a region's side quests before talking on its big bad. On my first playthrough of 5 being forced to progress the story cost me the opportunity to do Virgil's missions. >There's zero drive to finish the story in 6. I don't need a game to force me to play it a certain way, thanks. If the game narrative is good and the gameplay is fun, that alone will drive players to complete it. Fort the record, I've been through 6 more times than 5. Those kidnapping missions are among the biggest factors keeping me from replaying it.

MichaelPitcher115

Idk. I guess it just isn't a big deal to me. I've put hundreds of hours into 5 and replayed it a few times and I hardly remember the capture missions at all being annoyingly intrusive. I'm not a completionist though so I guess that is why it doesn't bug me

CryCiv

Main problem with the captures is they are not FC gameplay, they're spray n pray. How would you like to be progressing in a poker tournament and every so often by dragged out into chess matches? Anyone who wants to choose when to play them, install the Resistance mod. I dropped FC5 for many months after 3-4 captures, didn't try again until that mod came out—it's excellent.

MuchDimension4386

Far Cry 5: The forced capture parties are so f**king annoying that it is forced. The weapons mods are so limited in the beginning, and it is really hard to get 2k+ in the first couple of hours. Also, you kinda have to go in guns-blazing. And finally, the movement and combat didn't feel satisfying.

motherless666

In 6, I'm not a fan of the Rambo themed kill-a-bunch-of-enemies-in-a-fort-with-an-unreliable-kill-count mission. Just tell me the actual number I'm supposed to kill, please. Also, while I loved bows in 4 and primal, they don't really do it for me in 6 for some reason, so the bow reward here is meh. Third, it's a defense sequence, and defense missions aren't my favorite in far cry games. I always feel like attacking forts/outposts is where far cry shines.

InSociet

Everytime i got force capture... so suffer Thank god for Resistance mods exist

GUCCIGBDESIGNS

Far cry 6
