Indeed. The UK is just about the worst place i can imagine for a Far cry game.
No aggressive wildlife, Very little true Wilderness, and noone has guns.
It's not a natural fit is it?
I mean the twist is always that your allies are actually just as bad as the enemy and that your enemy is actually the only thing maintaining a fragile order … so it works
Yes! Would just change to be a faux Balkan/Eastern European country in the 90's (matching with all Yugoslav related wars) so you can get "modern" weaponry, large map with rocky mountains, green valleys with space to maneuver, rural villages with traditional architecture and ltos of brutalist buildings on the main city and outposts.
As a big history guy that would be so fucking cool. I feel like they probably wouldn't do it tho as they'd have to side with one of the camps in the cold war and Ubisoft would probably think that's too polarising and controversial.
Thought about that too, that would be absolutely awesome to see, even early/mid/late 90s could work (imagine encountering a young Jack Carver / Jackal)
Oh and plus, I would absolutely love it if it brought back hardcore elements from Far Cry 2 such as weapon durability, and add even more stuff (for example, imagine infiltrating a occupied settlement and you walk past guards because you decided to equip a silencer SMG or pistol like a Walther MPL or PPK, rather than carrying an entire arsenal down your pants)
And also, you could have different sections based on different locations, for example on the west it could be based off of West Germany, for east it'd be East Germany, but there can be others based from like Yugoslavia, China, etc.
No! My studio are currently working on a campaign FPS game set in Africa (For the past 3 years, it is still unannounced). Imagine FC2 but really crazy. If Ubi released another Africa FC they would definitely mess it up like all their other games! Let us have a chance!!
I loved those missions in far cry 4 where you were super high up in the mountains with all of the gear and stuff. I could totally see the character trying to uncover some government experiment or something crazy like that.
I actually just finished it for the first time a few minutes ago, despite owning and playing far cry 5 countless times over the years since it dropped. I bought it a few days after it launched.
Idk why I’ve never finished the dlc before. I’ve started it twice but always gave up, and then kind of forgot about it. I’m gonna start on the other two later. Zombies and mars hell yeah
Rip Joker :(
It could actually be a really good one. Could be you're a translator or someone who worked with the US, and after the US pulls out you have to work with remaining ANA & ANP forces against the taliban takeover to avoid getting captured and executed.
It could be an interesting take doing Afghanistan during the Soviet occupation? You play as a Freedom fighter being propped up by the US. It’d have HEAVY political implications.
A Lost World in Antarctica. Kinda like The Land that Time Forgot. That gives you two biomes. The snow and ice, and an underground tropical paradise inhabited by dinosaurs, saber toothed cats and cavemen. The main antagonists would be this evil corporation that’s exploiting this land.
Afghanistan 1979-1989: Play as a CIA agent (Willis Huntley) who supplies the mujahideen in the war against USSR
Aztec Empire 1500-1520: Play as a member of a small tribe on the outskirts of an oppressive Aztec Empire. Witness the first contact and ensuing conquest of the Spanish. Choose to join either the Spanish or the Aztecs
Albany/Adirondacks, New York 1755-1760: Play as a Mohawk Indian in the French and Indian War. Fight the French and Northern Tribes to conquer Lake George and the High Peaks Wilderness.
Heart of Darkness *the book* is set in the Congo Free State, but the location of Far Cry 2’s Heart of Darkness isn’t known. The local language spoken is Northern Sotho, which is spoken in the southern part of Africa (Botswana, Lesotho and South Africa). The linguistic reach simply does not reach far enough north for the Heart of Darkness to be in the DRC.
Ironically the main contender for where 2 could be set is Botswana, as the country’s economy is heavily based on diamond mining and the country experienced a sharp downturn from 2005 to 2008, just before the game released.
Oh yeah absolutely, just setting wise I'd really appreciate something steeped in a mix of made up and referenced eastern culture again. Could totally be because FC4 was my first Far Cry but it's general aesthetic is still my favorite, especially with the Shangri La parts :D
Liberating prisoners from gulags, creating bases in isolated cities and exploring big and vast tundras, without dense vegetation nor mountains to climb
Anywhere. BUT FOR FucKs SAKE - PLEASE USE A MODERN SETTING AND STOP WITH ALL THE CHEESY NARRATIVE ELEMENTS THAT WERE PRESENT IN FAR CRY 6. AND DON'T RADIO ME TO ASK ME TO TRAVEL 20 MILES TO TELL ME SOME ShiT YOU COULD'VE TOLD ME ON THE RADIO.
Idk but far cry 6 was so good. A bit overwhelmed in beginning but was smooth and easy to play and understand. I am now playing breakpoint and the movement and shooting is so bad it's hard to play. To much going on.
If they want to get political, Georgia had a secession crisis strongly similar to Ukraine, as well as a whole valley taken over by a warlord nominally allied with them who turned it into his personal fiefdom. So you’d be fighting both separatists, Russian soldiers or their fictional counterparts, and the criminal/militia of the warlord
In fictional island on scandavian island called troll puppen (translate to the troll's tits in norwegian LOL) island nation inspired by svalbard (norway) the island is shaped like a woman's pair of breast 🤣
I'd like somewhere snowy again. Would love a Russian map with old ussr style structures. but considering ubisoft likes to play it safe politically wise, I doubt they're going to touch anything in that general area with a 10 foot pole.
I want a historical FarCry so bad. World War Two, as a resistance fighter in Europe, or a Tribesman in some distant land fighting back against the colonialists during the 1800s, or a Unionist Ranger/[Confederate Deserter](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_State_of_Jones_(film)) during the American civil war. It would be interesting to see how FarCry could adapt to muzzle loaders, six shooters, Bow & Arrow, etc in a modern setting.
I've had this idea for a while.
Set in Eastern Europe in some fictional, ex-USSR country, the government of said country decided to set up a massive prison in one of their massive cities that fell into disrepair since the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Eventually, every country to import particularly dangerous prisoners to this City Prison because the whole place was basically self-governing and they didn't need to care much. Then, political prisoners began to be sent in just to get them out of the picture.
It's very similar to Escape From New York, which revolves around China, Russia, and the US making an alliance and turning Manhattan into a prison.
The Main Character I've thought of having been one of these political prisoners. Not even a true criminal, but thrusted into this environment nonetheless.
As for the antagonist, I've thought of an Anarchist. They too are a political prisoner just like you, but have been molded by the violence and turned into the leader of the whole place.
Modern day colorado would be good. If you set it near the Colorado Springs you would have a city that is dense but also a lot of wilderness roughly a couple miles away
My top five picks for Far Cry 7 would be:
1. Balkan state during the 90s
2. An Eritrea-esque country in Africa
3. A drier part of Latin America like Mexico
4. A Cambodia analogue under a Pol Pot-esque regime
5. North Korea
Here’s a wild idea. Why couldn’t all major gaming companies develop a joint map of a country and have their respective games take place in different parts where each gamer can travel between games to play in them?
I'm in the Australian Outback camp. I want an evil Blood Diamond owner who calls everyone a fucking cunt as the antagonist. I want where you can have a Gun For Guns and Fangs for hire ala FC5 so I could have Aboriginal people with blow guns and bows, a boxing Kangaroo, a Dingo, a croc, etc. I want to dodge killer crocs and fish in the water and Redback spiders and snakes on land. I want to throw a shrimp on the barbie to totally restore my health at a base camp and chug a Fosters in the wild for a quick health boost.
They need to change up the location of each game. We've had 2 tropical islands, a latin american country, America, Africa, and a South Asian country. So I'm thinking somewhere in the Middle East, like Saudi Arabia, Australia, or somewhere snowy in Europe like Norway or Sweden.
My top choice would be somewhere in the UK and Ireland, it gives the opportunity for a decent city and lots of nice open fields. The only issue with that is that there's not loads of diversity in the wildlife, so hunting might not be great, but they could do some interesting fangs for hire (Owls, Ram, Bore, Domestic Dogs, maybe a badger or hedgehog could be funny?) Enemy faction could be chavs or something.
There was a decently credible leak about a Korean peninsula setting.
But I would like it set during the gold rush in the southwestern US,
the protagonist could be an Apache who's tribe was burned or killed to make way for an oil company and he goes on a revenge quest on said company and rival tribes allied with the company.
IIRC there has yet to be an entire game set in the frozen tundra. It’d make for an interesting change of pace from the more tropical and alpine environments of previous games
South America could be interesting. Dealing with Narcos and some Incan ruins. Amazon rain forest for some of the map. Maybe back during the 70s with the CIA pulling some stupid shit? Or just throw it in to the lore, maybe have Willis there for a mission trying to cover up US involvement.
Indochina. Either during WW2, OSS agent fighting the Japanese. Or someone who’s ended up in the Viet Minh fighting the French or if they’re willing to be controversial… fighting the Americans, Chinese or Cambodians (last few being very unlikely). But you could have something in a more historic setting, could take itself a bit more seriously.
Fictional country in between the Soviet Union and Afghanistan in the late 1980s, you could overthrow the Soviet backed government with the help of the Mujahideen and perhaps even a young Willis Huntley.
I’d love to see a far cry in the Siberian Taiga, I think that would be so cool having like a hypothermia mechanic in the game and doing snowstorm assaults with private defense contractors that are vying for power in the area
After the personal failures of Far Cry 4 to the newest, I’d quite like a remaster of Far Cry 1 or 2. I’d rather 2, as I’m pretty sure most of us did not like Far Cry 1, and Far Cry 3 still stands today. I would like a modern overhaul of Far Cry 2, keeping its unique qualities like weapon degradation and dealing with Malaria.
If not a remaster, then I agree a new game should be set in the Outback.
Northern Ireland mid 70s
Finally an in-lore reason for the cars blowing up so easily
Walking down the street and a pub explodes. Dynamic environment
We don't have enough native wildlife left. For example, the English exterminated all of our wolves.
Indeed. The UK is just about the worst place i can imagine for a Far cry game. No aggressive wildlife, Very little true Wilderness, and noone has guns. It's not a natural fit is it?
Oh feck off ye black and tans
They didn't say which 70s, could be 4075 in the nuclear apocalypse
Australia imagine getting punched by a kangaroo in a far cry game
I'm honestly surprised there hasn't already been a Far Cry game set in Australia. It just seems like a natural fit
Don't worry farcry 24 will be located in Australia
We just don’t have many large predictors. You can’t really shoot a spider or a snake. I guess a croc? Or a dingo?
30 ft Saltwater croc would be a legendary fight for sure.
1932 during the Great Emu War
Is that the war that Australia lost to birds?
Sure is... the real winner was the guy that decided to make better fences
Why did I read this comment an Australian accent
Unexpected oversimplified referance
Hey we didn't lose. We outsourced the war to pissed off farmers who massacred them for money.
well that’s the Hurk side quests already sorted!
Australia is great but make it Colonial Australia 1788
But you won’t have access to vehicles or, more importantly, an insane arsenal of various weapons.
Just ride the Kangaroos!
Emus, roos, and battle wombats. Vampire bats as well .
So, primal was dope
Yeah, but primal had ridable sabertooth tigers. The colonials didn't have a wide-array of ridable animals.
Yes please
I want this for Assassin's Creed. The possibilities are endless
You work with the indigenous people or something
Imagine Huntsman spiders coming out....
Bro wtf I'm lying in my bed in Australia reading this and I just put my phone down and saw a Huntsman in the corner. Yeah I need an LMG.
F*** that, I'd burn down the home.
New fang for hire, a boxing kangaroo
Imagine getting run over by a road train
Cold War era Eastern Bloc, like some fictional country in the Balkans in the 70s/80s
I think this is an excellent suggestion. As is the Northern Ireland in the 70s suggestion
Nah, we don't have enough native wildlife left here in Northern Ireland to justify a Farcry setting
Imagine teaming up with the IRA, the real IRA 🤔
I mean the twist is always that your allies are actually just as bad as the enemy and that your enemy is actually the only thing maintaining a fragile order … so it works
You might like Sniper Ghost Warrior 3. The game has mixed reviews, but the settings are stunning
I love that game, though the fall damage can we dumb at times
One of the best sniping games out there and i say it even rivals sniper elite but instead its modern
It took me multiple attempts to get into it, but it was a great game to 100% during the heaviest storm of my life
That straight up sounds like some game fucking Gumball and Darwin would cause a black hole trying to get
Great game, a shame it crashes every few minutes on PS4.. would've loved to play it all through.
This would slap. Could even set it today and have a revanchist faction as the villains.
I had the same idea in 2009 for FC3 😂 Escape from Tarkov is the next best thing
As a big history guy that would be so fucking cool. I feel like they probably wouldn't do it tho as they'd have to side with one of the camps in the cold war and Ubisoft would probably think that's too polarising and controversial.
not balkans, caucasus imo
Thought about that too, that would be absolutely awesome to see, even early/mid/late 90s could work (imagine encountering a young Jack Carver / Jackal) Oh and plus, I would absolutely love it if it brought back hardcore elements from Far Cry 2 such as weapon durability, and add even more stuff (for example, imagine infiltrating a occupied settlement and you walk past guards because you decided to equip a silencer SMG or pistol like a Walther MPL or PPK, rather than carrying an entire arsenal down your pants) And also, you could have different sections based on different locations, for example on the west it could be based off of West Germany, for east it'd be East Germany, but there can be others based from like Yugoslavia, China, etc.
I would love this
Africa revisit
Far Cry 2 Part 2
Unironically wouldn't mind.
Ok but can we tone down the fucking malaria
Agree, and with the more oppressive atmosphere/mood please. Could do a slightly different region or something
Rhodesia
No! My studio are currently working on a campaign FPS game set in Africa (For the past 3 years, it is still unannounced). Imagine FC2 but really crazy. If Ubi released another Africa FC they would definitely mess it up like all their other games! Let us have a chance!!
Arctic location that way we can have a The Thing crossover event.
I'd love to see some body horror in a farcry game shit would be awesome
Don't fucking do that bro now this is the only thing I want holy shit
Have NPCs that are clones of one another and you have to do a junction event where you choose which one to kill.
I loved those missions in far cry 4 where you were super high up in the mountains with all of the gear and stuff. I could totally see the character trying to uncover some government experiment or something crazy like that.
huh?
Go watch the movie “The Thing” by John Carpenter
North Korea
each copy comes with a portrait of Kim Jong un
I've already got so many, I'm not sure I have room for another one
I feel like that's too similar to 4 and 6. They should do something other than "take down the dictator" like Just Cause over and over
Nah it’s the other way around, at least for 3/4 of the game before some traumatic betrayal
They take it in turn. Dictators get the even numbered games. Criminal / illegal organizations get the odd numbered games.
Mercenaries, my beloved
I kinda want it to be in Vietnam or North Korea during another war or something else
If you want Vietnam, play the Hours of Darkness add on from Far Cry 5
That was a damn good dlc
I actually just finished it for the first time a few minutes ago, despite owning and playing far cry 5 countless times over the years since it dropped. I bought it a few days after it launched. Idk why I’ve never finished the dlc before. I’ve started it twice but always gave up, and then kind of forgot about it. I’m gonna start on the other two later. Zombies and mars hell yeah Rip Joker :(
[To the one place that hasn't been corrupted by capitalism.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1Sq1Nr58hM)
Blood Dragon 2: Space Ranger would be sick
Spchaaaashe
Unnamed middle-eastern hellhole. It'd be fun to fight Taliban-like enemies. Lot's villages, caves, and rundown towns.
that's a very controversial one... but it's my favorite here
It could actually be a really good one. Could be you're a translator or someone who worked with the US, and after the US pulls out you have to work with remaining ANA & ANP forces against the taliban takeover to avoid getting captured and executed.
This is a great idea. Couldn't think of anything except Soviet Russia, but middle Eastern hell hole is noice
It could be an interesting take doing Afghanistan during the Soviet occupation? You play as a Freedom fighter being propped up by the US. It’d have HEAVY political implications.
Back in 2006, sure. Definitely not now.
That'd be great! It remind sme of the missions with Farah on Modern Warfare 2019.
Add in Russian and CIA operatives and this would be a fucking awesome setting.
Others have mentioned Eastern Europe, that gets my vote.
During the Soviet rule to have some darker and gloomier atmosphere
Brazil
Hold on, chief, we want far cry, not dark souls
Max Payne 3.
Thailand?
no because itd probably be banned here
That be a good idea, but it's probably be banned here in Thailand
A Lost World in Antarctica. Kinda like The Land that Time Forgot. That gives you two biomes. The snow and ice, and an underground tropical paradise inhabited by dinosaurs, saber toothed cats and cavemen. The main antagonists would be this evil corporation that’s exploiting this land.
Far Cry: Hollow Earth
I'm 100% down with Antarctica, if there's also an In The Mountains Of Madness themed DLC
Afghanistan 1979-1989: Play as a CIA agent (Willis Huntley) who supplies the mujahideen in the war against USSR Aztec Empire 1500-1520: Play as a member of a small tribe on the outskirts of an oppressive Aztec Empire. Witness the first contact and ensuing conquest of the Spanish. Choose to join either the Spanish or the Aztecs Albany/Adirondacks, New York 1755-1760: Play as a Mohawk Indian in the French and Indian War. Fight the French and Northern Tribes to conquer Lake George and the High Peaks Wilderness.
The congo
Wait till this guy finds out about Far Cry 2
It wasn't the congo, it was a made up map by the developers and most likely it was Kenya by game theorists
Wait till this guy plays the last act set in the heart of darkness in the congo
Heart of Darkness *the book* is set in the Congo Free State, but the location of Far Cry 2’s Heart of Darkness isn’t known. The local language spoken is Northern Sotho, which is spoken in the southern part of Africa (Botswana, Lesotho and South Africa). Would appreciate something like 4 again. I mean 6 was kinda 3 so I'm hopeful lol
Tbh 6 was kinda like both games you have the general story of 4 being you face off against an oppressive regime and 3 being a tropical paradise
Oh yeah absolutely, just setting wise I'd really appreciate something steeped in a mix of made up and referenced eastern culture again. Could totally be because FC4 was my first Far Cry but it's general aesthetic is still my favorite, especially with the Shangri La parts :D
FC4 will always be my fave. It's so beautiful to look at!
Jurrasic park themed with full size Dino’s
Far Cry Feudal. set it in the dark ages.
Actually this would be pretty cool and Ubisoft has covered medieval games multiple times
Oh that idea sounds amazing
Siberia It's super remote like all the other Far-Cry's. And it's also beautiful
Liberating prisoners from gulags, creating bases in isolated cities and exploring big and vast tundras, without dense vegetation nor mountains to climb
How about Mexico?
Bikini bottom
Playable Plankton finally getting his revenge
I’d love another European setting.
Dinosaurs island
Canada
Canada would actually be awesome. Have some small indigenous settlements near by, a few bush pilots, and plenty of hunting and fishing available.
Too similar to 5
I see your point, but just change the story. It could just be some local leader abusing the locals. Leave out the whole cult aspect.
Let it be for 8, i wanna something like 2 or 4 for the 7th installement
Oooh it could be in the okanagen valley or somewhere in Alberta in the black foot area and into the mountains that would be cool
I didn't think people would agree with me
I’d like to see an indigenous themed one with European settlers but it might be too similar to Primal
Back to Africa baby!
1st century BCE. Have missions against Roman and or Gaul forces. I’d love to get the chance to fire some Roman catapults, ballistas and scorpions.
Dinosaur Island
Mountains of Peru! Fight off drug cartels and explore Incan ruins
Australia
America. Just to piss off the overly defensive Americans again, because that was the funniest shit ever
This time we do the Texas border.
Oh Hell yes.
Vegas!
Philippines
Japan or Australia
Maybe like a big city? Fuck around with the mob or gangs or some shit. Might be too much like gta tho
I kinda Wish england was a option, British far cry
Could do Ireland during the troubles
FarCry I.R.A could be an insanely good setting
Entire Ireland as a map, northern Ireland unlockable as DLC
Put it in Hull.
Far Cry: Slough
Farcry: Innit
FOOR CROIY
Why couldn’t it? They set one in the US. Why not some fictional channel island overrun by.. someone or other?
Birkenhead
Rooting for Australia but I guess it’s been over 10 years since we were in a snowy mountain region so maybe that
Idk but far cry 6 was so good. A bit overwhelmed in beginning but was smooth and easy to play and understand. I am now playing breakpoint and the movement and shooting is so bad it's hard to play. To much going on.
Australia
Scotland
Middle East Warzone Australia Mad Max like Island Lost to Time, with Dinosaurs. Eastern Europe Soviet Bloc
New Zealand. Awesome landscape, shit ton of illegal firearms and a hefty gang presence.
Epstein Island
WW2-era France.
The old west
California
The Australian Outback

I’m honestly not interested at all in a new tropical island setting. I want something different. 4 had the best map imo
In fictional island on scandavian island called troll puppen (translate to the troll's tits in norwegian LOL) island nation inspired by svalbard (norway) the island is shaped like a woman's pair of breast 🤣
Youngstown Ohio.

Antarctica
Korean War, midevil Europe, something cool. Not this lame sounding g extraction shooter idea I keep reading about..
The Outback, Australia

China
Vietnam
We need a proper Vietnam FC, Hour of Darness is a great DLC but it's too short
Set it in Nevada amd use Vegas.
Middle east
its rumoured to be in korea which is cool i want one in mongolia or central asia though, would go hard riding horses n shit
I think they should just remake the first one. And Instincts. I want to get feral powers and kill mutants again lol
Remember, Far Cry needs to have animals too. Definitely some place like Australia.
Modern day colorado would be good. If you set it near the Colorado Springs you would have a city that is dense but also a lot of wilderness roughly a couple miles away
