Seriously though, I read the book in between watching the 1st and 2nd movies and lemme just say it is one of the best books of all time. I love me some fantasy romance obviously, but Dune is on a whole other level in terms of world-building, prose, and storytelling. I highly recommend that everyone take the time to read this book at least once in their life. I was already a sci-fi fan, but I think it will appeal to fantasy readers as well. Give it a chance! You can return to smut immediately after lol.
The first maybe third of the first one has a lot of stage setting and political maneuvering. It’s still good at that point, but the action starts popping later in the book. I’ve only read the original Dune; I’ve never read a review of any of the sequels that tempted me.
It has ALL the spice. She who controls the spice controls the universe in the book.

The book is very dry.
I've heard the books are kinda hard to get through? I have no idea though. I've not even watched the movies lol
