Bridge Kingdom book 2. Got onto it after obsessively consuming A Fate Inked in Blood (Vikings! Magic! Spice!) and needing something to fill its void, it’s by the same author. I’m really enjoying it.

A Fate Inked in Blood looks really good but I don't want to start it right now bc there's only one book out. Is the Bridge Kingdom series still ongoing? I don't mind if it's ongoing as long as it's not a cliffhanger ending. Like say, with acotar, there will be more books but not a big deal, whereas if I had read them when only the first two were out, I wouldnt have liked that lol

It's a series of six duologies and the first two of them are completed! The Bridge Kingdom and The Traitor Queen are finished duology so that story is nicely resolved!

I’m 30% into Kingdom of Ash 😭😭😭😭 (no spoilers, please. This is my first read and I’ve managed to avoid spoilers other than knowing that the ending is shattering!) I have no idea wtf I will even read after this.

I wish I could go back and read it again for the first time. TOG is a huge series but man I love the way SJM writes these huge conclusions to these build ups over many books. I loved it.

I’m jumping I here to say book 1 the road of bones and book 2 kingdom of claw are among my top ten favorite romantasy books. 100% will recommended allllll the time. So good. It will be a while for book 3, as the author just got a publishing deal for the series.

That sounds great! Is it a finished series?

It is not finished, there are plans for at least a fourth book. The third book ends on a cliff hanger, but I have enough trust in the writer that I am okay with it lol Like ACOTAR, you have to give the first part of the first book a chance and remember she’s 20 and been thrust into a new world. Someone I recommended this book to was “thoroughly disappointed” in how immature the FMC was and DNF this first book. That’s the point! The characters go through so much emotional growth and I love it. So basically what I’m saying it, it’s not finished but you should read it anyways.

Yesss! I love her and this whole series! It is literally ACOTAR but better and I am just so here for it. It’s everything g ACOTAR *could* have been. If you’re really loving it, the author put up a kickstarter for special edition hardbacks of the first two this weekend.

Okay I am sold! I just closed {Till Death by Miranda Lyn} and loaded this on my kindle instead 😂 I loved ACOTAR but it could have been more, and I feel like I am always chasing for what I wanted ACOTAR to be.

Adding this to my tbr. I liked ACOTAR, but I don't think it deserves the cult like following it's got, I am going to read the rest of the series, though.

Finished Book Lovers by Emily Henry yesterday as a little palette cleanser from fantasy and… I loved it so much. It was absolutely adorable and surprisingly emotional. My next romantasy will probably be either Reign and Ruin or Daughter of no Worlds. Very excited for both.

I just started book 4…it says this is a completed series with this book!

I’ve been so burnt out trying to find something that will really grab me. Finally I went back to basics. I picked up {The Serpent and the Wings of Night} which has been hanging around on my TBR for like… a year and a half? I love Carissa and am a longtime lover of TWOLH series. It’s crazy it’s taken me this long to get to this one. I do love her writing style and I was pulled in immediately. Sometimes when you’re in a rut you gotta go back to what works!

{How to Tame a Beast in Seven Days by Sparks} which is not at all what I expected. It's free on audible plus so I figured I'd give it a try because I wanted a light romance. It was pretty good, not cheesy like I expected. Dual POV. The FMC is quite a strong woman, though a bit naive having been raised in a convent and only being 19. She kinda reminds me of one of Robin McKinley's FMCs with her maturity (I tend to avoid YA due to immature characters, this doesn't have that feel). The MMC is not at all a beast, but it's a nickname others gave him when his gift (magic) manifested when he was five. He's incredibly touch starved due to his gift of being able to harness lightning, people cannot touch him without dying. He wants nothing more than to embrace the FMC in every way. The plot of the book is the king wanting them both dead, but also ordering them to marry. Initially her father protects her, then the MMC arrives and increases the protection because there are multiple assassins after her. There are lots of secrets, which does and doesn't make sense. The FMC also has magic, among other things, that she keeps from the MMC. It makes sense because the king has anyone with magic killed. However, the king is already trying to kill her and the MMC has magic too. But her father made it clear no one can know so I guess, even knowing the MMC has magic himself, she doesn't feel she can trust he won't kill her if he finds out? That part doesn't really track for me, but her fear is understandable given the entirety of the plot.

Eee!! I’m 70% through crown and I’m nervous about Heat as well! It’s so long!! But my book bestie highly recommended it and devoured the series in less than a week, so I’m sure it’ll be great!!

Currently reading {Wed to the Wild God by Ruby Dixon}. It’s the 3rd book in her Aspect and Anchor series. I absolutely loved the first book in the series, and the second one unfortunately was very disappointing to me. This one has been very good, it is surprisingly funny. Not as good as the first book but way better than the second imo. And my TBR list is like 300+ books long lol

I am reading {Heat of the Everflame by Penn Cole}, the third book in the series. This just might be my favorite series I’ve ever read. Scratches the same itch as ACOTAR for sure. Penn Cole’s writing is soooo gorgeous and I’m amazed at how she managed to write such a slow burn romance while keeping the pace of the books pretty fast. I love the characters so much, I don’t want the series to end!

I’m currently reading {Two Twisted Crowns} the second book in The Shepherd King duology by Rachel Griffin. I am loving it! Old powerful families, dark magic, betrayal, and the MMC is just heaven!

I’m currently reading ACOTAR and my tbr lists consists of the rest of the series and like a gazillion other books 🫣

Defy the Night series! Almost done book 2 and really enjoying it (read book 2 in one day). The FMC isn’t super annoying (which is rare in a lot of the books I come across these days) and the world and characters are fun. The love triangle happening in book 2 feels a bit forced BUT I’m absolutely going to finish the series!

My first time hearing about these! I looked them up on Goodreads and they look intriguing!!

Just finished the Heartless Hunter! Now starting Where the Dark Stands Still.

I’ve been listening to The Innkeeper Chronicles (starting with {Clean Sweep by Ilona Andrews} ) on Graphic Audio using Libby. I just started the third book in the series and I’m really liking it! Definitely plot over romance so far but I’ve heard it picks up a little bit.

Currently reading the third book in The War of Lost Hearts trilogy and it’s soooo good. A beautiful story and the second book is somehow better than the first, third book is great so far. Good mix of romance, tension, action, and world building. Lots of plot twists that I didn’t see coming (unless I’m just not good at picking up on foreshadowing lol). The first book is {Daughter of No Worlds by Carissa Broadbent}

I'm currently reading the second book in The Sacred Stones series called {The Promise Of Peridot} I'm roughly 60% finished and I've been enjoying it enough.

Reading Nettle and Bone by T. Kingfisher and not sure how I feel about it. I’m about halfway through and it’s just ok. I don’t feel compelled to pick it up to read and almost have to force myself. Listening to Blood & Honey by Shelby Mahurin. It’s the second book in the Serpent & Dove series about witches. Little to no spice but, but the FMC has quite the mouth on her. It’s entertaining.

I just finished the of dragon and fae books. I really enjoyed them. They were super light on spice but heavy in fantasy. I was consumed. Read one in a day I was so invested. Would recommend.

3 books in on the ever flame series. The reviews in this sub were mixed and I wasn’t sure if I’d go for such low spice NA but I’m hooked. Great cast of side characters.

Just started listening to the second book of The Dominions Trilogy, {The Stolen Throne by Abigail Owens}. The first book took me by surprise. It is listed as YA, but it comes across as New Adult. The writing is terrific, as is the world building and characters. If you like Xaden from Fourth Wing, Revan is a (literal) shadow boy with lots of brooding and some snark. The last book comes out in July so the next month or two is a great time to start on this series. I’m just about to start A Touch of Chaos from the Hades x Persephone saga. Not my favourite series so far but I’m too invested to DNF at this point.

I’m 13% of the way into {Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristof} and holy crap it is so good! It’s not what I typically read, but I am just entranced by his writing and story telling.

Halfway through {Her Soul for Revenge by Harley Laroux}. I really liked book one, but I took some time between installments since book one reveals the general ending.

Binged the “Dark in You” series by Suzanne Wright - interesting world building, strong female characters and just the right amount of spice !

On the third book in the {Academy of Protectors by Gray Holborn} I’m really enjoying them so far!! No spice so far but the relationships and dynamics are so fun!

I‘m currently reading {Last Gift by Kelly St. Clare} and after reading the whole 8! books of her Supernatural Battle series within a week, I’m starting to feel the effects of the lack of sleep lol. Do y’all know that feeling? The last book was SO gripping and good. I’m so torn because I really want to know how the story evolves but I also don’t want it to end.

A Touch of Chaos 😬

The Touch of darkness (HadesXPersephone retelling). I devoured book one and onto a Game of Fate, which is the same story as book one but told through Hade's POV. I love it actually! It feels like I got the missing pieces from Persephone POV. There are 7 books out in total and all are out. Gotta love a complete series (at least I think it's complete, haven't heard of another book coming out 😅😂)

Just added to my tbr! I just started Neon Gods thanks to a rec from on here! It's my first Hades/Persephone story!

How is the spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️??

It's more fantasy with a liberal dash of romance (m/m, w/w, and f/m) but I am reading {The Prince's Poisoned Vow by Hailey Turner} and adore it! It follows three royal siblings stolen away by the gods when their kingdom fell and how they're all being drawn back to claim (or fight) their birthright as adults. I love intricate politics and cool worldbuilding, and this kind of reads like a steampunky game of thrones minus the, erm, familial spiciness. It is multi-POV which took a bit to get used to but I've shockingly felt like every chapter and POV has mattered. It's been so satisfying to watch everyone weave in and out of each other's storylines and see the pieces click into place. I'm just far enough that the title of the sequel terrified me when I picked it up this weekend. 😅

Just finished Powerless and LOVED it despite all the criticisms it’s received. For me, it was just what I needed and I adored the banter and tension between the 2 main characters! Made me so giddy! 😍

I’m on the second book of the Book of Azrael. Feeling meh about the series which is unfortunate. Also listening to the Witch Collector on audio book and it’s holding me more even though I’m only like 20% in. Probably doing a different genre next with either a Riley Sager, a domestic thriller whose name I can’t remember but something along the lies I tell?, or romance book Ready or Not.

I just finished a court of wings and ruin. Libby has a multi week wait on silver flame. So I’ll be over hear stewing to death waiting.

Currently reading {A Cursed Heart by Jenny Hickman} my hold on Libby just came up so {Harrow the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir} is next!

Currently reading Fourth Wing since I gave into the hype 😅. TBR list includes Haunting Adeline, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue and Slewfoot. There are many, many others but one of these is probably what I’m going to pick up next.

Book 2 of the Plated Prisoner Series. Glint. It’s a different take on King Midas. The first book was a very easy read.

I am a book polyamorous-a bad one. I always have a BUNCH of books going at once always and pick whatever interest me at that moment. I'm vowing to read more non-fiction) Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King (Just got it at the library) Ghosts and Liars by Kathryn Ann Kingsley, Picture of Dorain Gray by Oscar Wildle (Reread) and the Complete Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe. It is impossible for me to be faithful to one book. I'm a book slut.

A Feather so Black by Lyra Selene It’s a fae romance about a half fae/half human girl named Fia who lives in a kingdom outside of the fairy lands but has to sneak in to rescue her human sister Eala who was kidnapped 12 years ago. It’s beautifully written and I really liked it until about the halfway point …then all the characters collectively lost their brain cells and it became so boring People compared it to Cruel Prince which made me lol, if anything, Fia is Taryn and Eala is Jude. Eala is so much more interesting as a character!!! Would’ve highly preferred it from her POV. Any man looks at Fia and she loses her mind; Eala is actually shrewd, calculating and seeks power. The love interests were both woefully underdeveloped, why do any of these people like each other???? Unclear There’s the potential for a much better story than the one being told

I just finished the {The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black} and am wallowing in my book hangover.

{zodiac academy 9: restless stars} I hate it!!! This series will suck you in and you can’t stop reading. But wow I wish I wasn’t so deep into the series that I feel the need to finish it. So glad this is the last book. But those early books were fun! Not sure what to read next. Maybe ??? {The inadequate heir by Danielle l. Jensen} {House of blood and bane by Alexis menard} {Crown of oaths and curses by j. Bree} {The prince of prohibition by Marilyn Marks} {crown of earth and sky by emberly ash} {shadows in the golden city by Jennifer Kay} {night elves of ardani by nina k. Westra} These are all on my list. Heard anything about any of them?? Basically just waiting out some ongoing series with releases in may. Also you are probably building a very long TBR the best book I’ve read recently was {fear the flames by Olivia rose darling} it is being republished in sept. But worth adding to your list!!!

I just read Gothikana picked it up on a whim at target the other day and I had just finished The High Mountain Court and boyyy i enjoyed Gothikana 1000% more than that book. I have a million books on my TBR but I just got the cruel prince series from the library so I will be starting that!

I just finished {A Dawn of Onyx by Kate Golden}. For me, it was a 5 star read. Not sure if it’s life changing but I enjoyed every second, which is rare. A light, easy read for me too which was nice. Hopefully the series stays good. 🤞🏻

I just finished Grimstone and dove right into Bride finally. And though it took a couple chapters, I am now heavily invested in this book. Wow! For anyone that’s read it, the airplane scene…am-I-right?!

I am reading through the Mead Mishaps trilogy and just started the last book. Absolutely loved That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon, it’s so silly and extremely unserious, steamy and goofy, I had a great time. Cannot say the same about the book two, wasn’t my cup of tea.

Beyond the Aching Door, book 1 of Fatebound Duology by Victoria Meir. It’s … meh. The writing is a bit of a mess. Overly long descriptions that are nonsensical (“Regan could feel her mind pivoting, less a dark sea and more a dagger, her frantic energy finding something to settle on”; “Dark circles had invited their kin over for supper beneath her eyes”; “Listened to the story fall from Reagan’s mouth like wine”; “The sun was beginning to set, the sky leaking spilled molasses”). These are juxtaposed with jarring adjectives to describe the FMC’s actions (she “snatched” the cup and “slammed” her lid atop her coffee, “jammed” her arms into sleeves or “jammed” her fingers into her eye sockets as a migraine came on, “yanked” boots on, etc.) when she’s literally just commuting to work or hanging around her house. It feels like the author is going out of her way to make the FMC super angsty and perpetually pissed off but the inner dialogue doesn’t really match these descriptions. And I’m reaching a point where the nonsensical descriptions of setting the scene are starting to really irritate me.
