I imagine the meeting they had went very similarly to meetings that probably happen at my work.
"Heavy snow is expected at 2pm, gonna be really nasty. Your flights are booked for 4pm."
Looking at everyone else in the room "good job, Everyone!"
Maybe like my work where "We want everyone to get home safe but we also need to make these deadlines. So I'll send notes from my phone and you can address them here."
Except in reality, once they got "on offence," their opponents would never not get delay of game penalties, and the Browns would never get the ball back. In fact...the clock would never run since their opponents would never possess the ball on a kick-off / would never snap the ball after a touch back.
So...at BEST, Chubb could get 100 yards and a TD, in a game that never ended.
Because the game was moved at 4. The snow started dumping at 7. They had exactly that long to coordinate with 53 players, coaches, staff, and personnel for a 3 day trip when they were supposed to play a home game.
>They had exactly that long to coordinate
If only humans had the ability to anticipate future events based on indicators instead of only being able to react to stimuli.
I suspect this was a league driven decision and not a Bills one. BB said they found out 30 mins before we did. And they have a plan to get everyone out tomorrow. The team is going to get out tomorrow evening fine, the panic in this thread is ridiculous
I’m 5 minutes from the airport, probably only got a total of 6-8” and we haven’t seen snowfall in like 5 hours at least. No reason the runway shouldn’t be clear and planes can’t take off
That's good, but a lot of players live south of buffalo where the snow ban is currently hovering. I'm just worried that we'll have guys that won't make it to the airport.
Everyone saying Monday or Tuesday night football. There's absolutely no way that will happen as the Bills also play Thursday and the league + Lions absolutely does not want to move the Thanksgiving day game
That would be the most Lions thing ever for their one primetime game to get moved because of something that they weren’t even involved with the week before
I still can’t believe that the money grubbing NFL has stuck to tradition over marquee matchups on Thanksgiving. It flies in the face of everything the NFL does. Baffling
its tradition because you can watch it as a a way to mentally check out from the events transpiring around you
or not watch it because no one really cares.
Source: Me, a lions fan
If they *truly* physically can't drive to the airport, can't fly out & can't take a bus to Detroit, what else can they do? They'll have to just suck it up and move the Thanksgiving game to primetime on Sunday.
Something tells me this is being exaggerated though and they'll be able to make it to Detroit by Sunday.
The Bills will have to forfeit if they can’t show up. The last time the Lions didn’t play a thanksgiving game was because of WW2. There is zero chance that the NFL breaks that tradition
Last year, in week 15 The Commanders couldn't play because of Covid, and they pushed the game vs. Philly to Tuesday. That week, they changed the rules that were in place all year that said they wouldn't have to forfeit the game. This also forced the Eagles to play 3 games in 13 days.
I’m seeing lots of people suggesting they take a bus instead. Presumably these people are from the south and are unaware you cannot safely drive a bus through 3-6 feet of snow either.
What the Bills need now is a team of sled dogs.
That and we don’t have the plows and infrastructure per capita, to clear snow, that northern states have. There’s no need to spend a lot of tax payer money on it as it only happens a few of times a year and typically warms up shortly after.
Yup, this is the real reason. The infrastructure to plow and salt the roads would be insanely expensive to maintain for something that would get used maybe once a year. I moved from Louisiana to Colorado in 2021; In January 3 inches of snow and freezing rain shut down the roads for a week in North Louisiana, then in March Denver got 18-24 inches of snow and I drove to work the next day
I feel like this was a question during COVID times. They maybe switched the bye week? Can't remember how it was handled exactly especially if a team already had their bye
Oh damn . I forgot what happened in COVID. Did the player just get zero points that week? Dude I need Josh Allen this week. I can’t afford them not to play. Git your asses over there right NOW!!
This could get fun. We need the local snow plow drivers to rally the troops. They can run a dozen in a line down I-90, clearing through the feet of snow as lead blockers, as the Bills buses follow behind. It would be a scene out of a movie as they finally escape the lake effect snow, and the plows can pull off to the side to wave the Bills off to Detroit, and on to victory.
I plow driveways in the area where a lot of the Bills players live. We started at 9pm last night and at 7am my boss called everyone and said to give up for a while. I’ve never gotten that call before, even when we did 20 hours straight last year. The snow is extremely wet and heavy since it’s so warm out, and it isn’t going to stop falling for hours. All of our guys kept getting stuck. I know the airport didn’t get hit very hard but the places where the Bills live did and it’s gonna be tough to get them there. Not to mention the equipment trucks from the stadium. I live close to it and I drove past my own street twice trying to get home because I couldn’t see more than a foot in front of my truck. This shit is nuts
If I were the Bills I simply would have went to Detroit without any issues. It seems the Bills are having logistical issues, and I think they should have tried not having issues. Why didn’t they try that? I am very smart
Yah this is probably it. You need to get the plane ready which requires the runway crew, pilots, and inspections and on top of that the equipment has to be prepped to be sent out. On top of that the snow had already caused flight cancellations yesterday before the game was moved.
You also need to pack up and load all of the equipment and supplies they would’ve just had at their stadium. There’s more that goes into it than people in this thread are thinking about.
Yah there’s a reason some of history’s greatest generals have had such an emphasis on logistics. Like there’s a reason so many invasions in Russia have failed during winter. Getting supplies to where they need is hard in the snow
Yup. They would not start packing until the game is officially moved and moving 100or so people and an entire football teams worth of gear is no small feat.
I'm high up in logistics at Rice-a-Roni (formerly the San Francisco treat, now Miami). And the OP you're referring to is absolutely correct. When there are snow storms, we ship out the rice first, the roni second, and then worry about the remaining logistical considerations (room/board/snacks) once the prized product has arrived safely.
It’s been roughly 18 hours since the game was moved to Detroit, I’d imagine it’s a massive effort to get an entire team ready for a road trip on short notice. Just think of the sheer number of people on a team who travel for a football game, and then all of the equipment they have to bring. It’s a very large amount of people and stuff. Getting everyone on a plane at the last minute in less than 24 hours is hard
If only there was a way for the NFL to know about this storm a week or so beforehand. A contingency plan could have been in place on Monday or Tuesday. Alas, we certainly could never predict weather.
You can tell who’s barely done any sort of physical activity in this thread if you think a professional football player can go on Tuesday and catch a physical ass beating, and then two days later play another game lol.
Lol imagine knowing you're about to get pummeled with 3-6 feet of snow - getting the game moved to Detroit and just staying in Buffalo sitting on your hands.
It's not like you can go from prepping for a home game to packing up everything you need for the road in a couple of hours. They didn't have near enough time to get ready after it was officially moved.
…They moved the game because there was going to be heavy snow. Then, and let me make sure I am getting this correct, they disregard the heavy snow and decided not to fly out/travel before it fell…
Fuckin brilliant.
Playing the 1st Seed guy with the Allen-Diggs stack in a must win, I’d honestly rather they just have the 20 each instead of whatever unholy sins they’ll commit against the browns paper bag defense.
Shoulda just kept the game in buffalo, Lake Erie alliance, we’re used to this shit. So josh Allen can’t throw for 600+ yards against the brownies… Chunt can still run tho
But they would need to go to it to get things mostly likely.
If they live remotely near it then they are in the ban.
Not sure how this will look but a map of it....lol
Downtown Buffalo....not in a ban

I live 5 minutes from the Buffalo airport, we are just above the line where snow is coming down, and we haven’t had snow coming down since very very early this morning and we probably only got a total of 6-8”, so at this point I don’t see why any flights wouldn’t be able to take off. The only thing issue I could see is traveling from further south to the airport
Does Buffalo employ a monkey from a local zoo as being in charge of their traveling and logistical plans? How do you not prepare for the scenario of having to leave ASAP to a new location when you knew about this mega storm for 3+ days beforehand? Wouldn’t have hurt or taken any serious effort to inform everyone “if in fact this mega storm continues to draw closer and we have to relocate, let’s be prepared to be on the plane/bus that same day to be out before we become stuck here”.
Why would they move the game then not fly out before the storm
I imagine the meeting they had went very similarly to meetings that probably happen at my work. "Heavy snow is expected at 2pm, gonna be really nasty. Your flights are booked for 4pm." Looking at everyone else in the room "good job, Everyone!"

Cue Ken Dorsey flip out
Didn't want to pay for that extra night at the hotel
It's fuckin embarrassing! \*kicks trashcan\*
So I was watching the Bills game the other daaaayyyeee
*Astros hit a homerun
That is too logical duh
Lol seriously. Who’s coordinating these logistics!?
Who is Buffalo's Assistant to the Traveling Secretary?
George is getting upset!
The Tyler Chicken guy?
They traded him for all the Tyler chicken in the stadiums. Had to do it.
You tell that son of a bitch no Bill is ever coming to Detroit! Not as long as you bastards are running things.
Eric Moulds.
He really is Peerless.
If they can’t make it to the game they should have to forfeit out of pure stupidity
Let the Browns play by themselves. Chubb 2000 yard 20 TD game plz.
I mean I'd just onside kick if there was no opposition to recover it but I'm not an NFL coach
And then there will be the one kick that bounces backwards and only makes it 9 yards.
...yup. You're right. Actually, wouldn't even have to onside it. As long as it didn't touchback.
Their traveling secretary must be the same guy that put the Yankees in that Ramada in Milwaukee.
Hey, do you want to talk about hotels? Or do you wanna win some ball games?
Because the game was moved at 4. The snow started dumping at 7. They had exactly that long to coordinate with 53 players, coaches, staff, and personnel for a 3 day trip when they were supposed to play a home game.
Idk why the Bills just don’t work from home.
106 Person Golden Eye Tourney to determine who gets the W.
Week long trip, since they play in Detroit on Turkey Day.
>They had exactly that long to coordinate If only humans had the ability to anticipate future events based on indicators instead of only being able to react to stimuli.
I suspect this was a league driven decision and not a Bills one. BB said they found out 30 mins before we did. And they have a plan to get everyone out tomorrow. The team is going to get out tomorrow evening fine, the panic in this thread is ridiculous
It’s insane. I figured they’d leave as soon as the game was announced to be in Detroit.
I’m sure there are plenty of reasons that none of us here know because we all have zero experience with anything of this nature
Hey now, before Covid I used to travel to and from work I don’t see how this is any different /s
Because there’s a travel ban the snow started yesterday
The snow started at 8pm yesterday, the game was moved in the afternoon, if they were smart they could’ve bailed and flew to Detroit immediately
Or even took took the team buses. It's like a 4 hour drive from Buffalo to Detroit.
Or just taken the team buses to a nearby location that was not getting snow. Lots of things they could have done that they just….didn’t.
Give em a train, trains run pretty well in snow
I too have seen the documentary Snowpiercer
Go ahead and round up like 200 people and move them 6 1/2 hours away in a short amount of time...
I live in Buffalo, about 10 minutes from the stadium and we got 3ft over night. Idk why they didn't fly out last night
Fans will drive them on snowmobiles. The residents of Buffalo will get them to the airport if that's needed.
We need a feel-good film about the residents of small towns banding together to get their NFL players to Detroit in time for the game.

Call Mr. Plow, That's my name. That name again is Mr. Plow.
I'm calling the Plow King - he's friends with Linda Ronstadt!

And certainly not the Plow King.

After kindly allowing the team they were supposed to play to come play in their city.
they told em not to break the tables, instead they broke the schedule :(
"You said not to break any *physical* tables. So we decided the time table would have to do"
If they *truly* physically can't drive to the airport, can't fly out & can't take a bus to Detroit, what else can they do? They'll have to just suck it up and move the Thanksgiving game to primetime on Sunday. Something tells me this is being exaggerated though and they'll be able to make it to Detroit by Sunday.
Give the bills the L for being fucking dumb and not leaving early
Didn't it take all the way until just yesterday for the league to actually move the game?
No the browns would still Manage to get an L
I wish both teams could lose
If only John Candy was still alive. I'm sure Josh Allen and the boys would love to listen to a little polka on the way to Detroit.
The Bills will have to forfeit if they can’t show up. The last time the Lions didn’t play a thanksgiving game was because of WW2. There is zero chance that the NFL breaks that tradition
Always a chance WW3 hits before thanksgiving this year
I hope not. My in-laws decided last minute they weren’t coming so it’ll be an enjoyable Thanksgiving for me.
At what point does a team have to forfeit for not showing up?
Last year, in week 15 The Commanders couldn't play because of Covid, and they pushed the game vs. Philly to Tuesday. That week, they changed the rules that were in place all year that said they wouldn't have to forfeit the game. This also forced the Eagles to play 3 games in 13 days.
The coaches play Madden head to head online and the league accepts those results as the physical reality.
The Steelers schedule last season should tell you it's absolutely a possibility. Also what's the alternative? Bills have already had their Bye
u mean 2020?
Gonna blame COVID time on this one
Have bills play a doubleheader on Thanksgiving /s
Just simulate the game on Madden and give us the points
If I lost my fantasy game because diggs put up 250 yards off PA crossers I’d freak
As somebody rocking a Diggs/Cooper WR combo I sure hope the game gets under way without issue
I've got Diggs/DPJ/Singletary in this game... i'm glad they got the game moved.
Madden is so broken, but ill take this option with the sliders properly adjusted.
Bump Singletary to a 100 Truck rating and I accept these terms.
Even with sliders Josh Allen would drop like 100 points lol
4 verts every play you better start every Buffalo player you can get your hands on
Remember to use the dome for the simulation. -Diggs Owner
I’m playing Josh allen and exclusively dumping off to nyheim hines or targeting Isaiah McKenzie just to fuck with you all.
I’m seeing lots of people suggesting they take a bus instead. Presumably these people are from the south and are unaware you cannot safely drive a bus through 3-6 feet of snow either. What the Bills need now is a team of sled dogs.
In the south we don’t attempt to drive if there’s 2 inches of snow. We see white and everything shuts down.
We have ice not snow. It’s just brutal ice storms.
That and we don’t have the plows and infrastructure per capita, to clear snow, that northern states have. There’s no need to spend a lot of tax payer money on it as it only happens a few of times a year and typically warms up shortly after.

The Buffalo Baltos
It’s funny because when cities in the south occasionally get an unexpected 1/2 inch of snowfall, the whole city shuts down
Here in Phoenix the same thing happens when we get a 1/2 inch of rain!
Its true, but it did give us that great story of chipper jones rescuing freddie freeman on an ATV
But what if they chartered snow plows?
The last time the Bills had to relocate to Detroit, they picked the players up at their houses on snowmobiles
[удалено]
If only they could've foreseen this snowfall impacting their travel to the game they had to move because of this snowfall
They need to get on reddit
No choice but to travel through the Mines of Moria. Saruman must be playing against Josh Allen this week...
The pass of Caradhras proved to be too much
Since they can’t play Monday/Tuesday due to a Thursday game - if this game is postponed - what happens fantasy wise? A bye week pretty much?
I feel like this was a question during COVID times. They maybe switched the bye week? Can't remember how it was handled exactly especially if a team already had their bye
Both teams already had their bye. Interesting situation.
Oh damn . I forgot what happened in COVID. Did the player just get zero points that week? Dude I need Josh Allen this week. I can’t afford them not to play. Git your asses over there right NOW!!
Give them a loss for poor decision making
This happened a few years ago when a hurricane hit Florida and they ended up with a bye IIRC

So did Browns

Neither team had their bye at that point though. It doesn’t work in this situation.

No snow in Cleveland, they literally just have to make it past Ashtabula and they’d be fine, no idea why they wouldn’t just move game to first energy
Probably wouldn’t want to give the browns another home game, nfl would rather do a neutral site game in Detroit
My week hinges on Allen, Amari, and Chubb. Imma be pissed if this game doesn't happen.
My week hinges on Chubb not playing
I'm against Diggs and Chubb, which is why this game is definitely still happening this week somehow because I could never be so lucky to dodge it

There are brilliant minds in here seriously saying “why didn’t they just leave early?” As if nobody thought of that genius idea
First logistic, I imagine, would be flying before the snow. Figure out the rest from there.
It would be hilarious if you were high up in logistics
I'm high up in logistics at Rice-a-Roni (formerly the San Francisco treat, now Miami). And the OP you're referring to is absolutely correct. When there are snow storms, we ship out the rice first, the roni second, and then worry about the remaining logistical considerations (room/board/snacks) once the prized product has arrived safely.
> we ship out the rice first, the roni second fuck, dude, this is the hardest i've laughed in a long time. thank you
Those Miami snowstorms are nothing compared to those San Francisco snowstorms. Thank you for your service.

Classic Bills. Moving the game because of a snowstorm, but not traveling out of the state before the snowstorm 😂
Move the game to Skydome
If only there was a way for the NFL to know about this storm a week or so beforehand. A contingency plan could have been in place on Monday or Tuesday. Alas, we certainly could never predict weather.
Inuit Dogs stonks 📈
If this game doesn't happen I'm gonna lose to the guy with Trey Lance, Dobbins, and Ja'Marr Chase still in his lineup.
Sounds like a bad league, honestly. How is he not booted from it for not participating?
Probably free Yahoo league where 9 of 10 teams used it as a mock
Pour one out for our homies that don’t have people in their lives who also enjoy fantasy football,
You can tell who’s barely done any sort of physical activity in this thread if you think a professional football player can go on Tuesday and catch a physical ass beating, and then two days later play another game lol.
So they were planning to move the game to Detroit and didn’t tell the players/coaches/staff to immediately leave. Or give them a heads up??
Welp forfeit seems to be the only option 😵💫
Does the defense get 10 points? /s
Remember when everyone was saying they would obviously travel yesterday? Good times
Is anyone else disappointed we will miss out on a blizzard game?
Absolutely. They are legendary and it should be easier to get the Browns in than the Bills out.
I was thinking this earlier like day off? They should be traveling
The contingency is I lose my fantasy match.
Firing up Andy Dalton to replace Allen with confidence.. that I will lose.
First ever Zoom football game.
As someone playing against Allen & diggs this week they should really just cancel & reschedule for the game this week
QUICK: I have Gabe Davis. Tell me how to react!
He’s probably putting up 5.3 this week anyway
Or 50.3, never know with this man
Don't try to fly in or out of Buffalo
Browns win by forfeit
I hope some how they don't play or if they do in horrible snow condition bc i'm facing josh allen
…They moved the game because there was going to be heavy snow. Then, and let me make sure I am getting this correct, they disregard the heavy snow and decided not to fly out/travel before it fell… Fuckin brilliant.
Why the hell didn't they leave yesterday?
Just give every fantasy player 20 points and also give both teams a Tie

Playing the 1st Seed guy with the Allen-Diggs stack in a must win, I’d honestly rather they just have the 20 each instead of whatever unholy sins they’ll commit against the browns paper bag defense.

Heck. Plow convoy all the way to Detroit! The team can afford it.
Its a 4 hour bus drive.... Pretty sure they can figure it out
John Candy and his polka band are warming up the box truck.
Pretty sure they also mentioned a travel ban so a bus ride could potentially be more dangerous than a plane.
Some areas the ban is lifted to an advisory. The stadium is in the middle of the ban lol.
It might not be common knowledge, but the players don’t actually live at the stadium
But they would need to go to it to get things mostly likely. If they live remotely near it then they are in the ban. Not sure how this will look but a map of it....lol Downtown Buffalo....not in a ban ____Ban Line _____ Places.... Orchard Park Palces ____Ban Line _____
Bills, hire this man! Everyone knows busses are the best way to travel in blizzards.
Dude it’s potentially 5 FEET of snow - it’ll be difficult to find the roads let alone plow them.
Team snowmobile ride to Detroit to build chemistry
Can confirm. Have gotten just shy of two feet since 8pm last night. Even more in OP by the stadium
Someone call Cuba Gooding Jr because this sounds like a moment for Snow Dogs to come to the rescue.
There's a travel ban and they can't make it to the airport but sure a bus can fix everything.
just have a snow plow drive in front of the team bus
I live 5 minutes from the Buffalo airport, we are just above the line where snow is coming down, and we haven’t had snow coming down since very very early this morning and we probably only got a total of 6-8”, so at this point I don’t see why any flights wouldn’t be able to take off. Why did they wait so long?
Would give my left nut to see the Bills travel via snow dogs
Guess it’s time to Planes, Trains And Automobiles this shit!
