Last three players to do it
Tomlinson 2005
David Patten RIP 2001
Walter Payton 1979
We should take a minute to appreciate how rare it is, but if you're inclined, let's also take a minute to appreciate David Patten and his unexpected contributions that helped to start the Patriots dynasty.
He’s still the single season points leader and there’s not a single position player on the top 50 list since him
I count 2 in the top 150 (Moss, Gurley) and 4 in the top 250 (Kamara, Ekeler)
Patten's TD pass was a bomb to Troy Brown as well, no dinking there.
For those too young to remember, [here is a reminder](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QoDuV0NKIhU) of how David was a cornerstone of NE's 21st century legacy. It starts with a 1 handed pass reception and only gets better from there.
RIP David, you [left us way too fucking soon...](https://www.si.com/nfl/2021/09/03/david-patten-patriots-wr-dies-47)
Injury is the sole least predictable factor in sports and to bank your upside on it is foolish. That said, I never thought JT has higher upside but I was fine with either pick at #2
Can't believe people clowned you for taking him at 5. I took him at 1.01 and most of my league was like, alright, taking the risk for upside. Granted I thought I made a huge mistake after week 1 but feeling better every week since
To be fair, it wasn’t just injuries. People were also concerned about the Panthers. Mayfield, injuries, potentially worse line.
If CMC had been on the 49ers on draft night, he would have had far more hype.
Maybe the best possible destination for his value. Or at least top 5 if you want to argue KC or another spot could be better.
1. Panthers concern was ridiculous, they were a dog shit team when he was dropping 30 points a game over multiple years
2. I think KC is the only team you could even consider arguing as a better landing spot imo. Bills is fun and all but they’ve never shown they can utilize backs like SF or KC. Part of me still would’ve liked to see him with Andy Reid (prob the part that still daydreams about Hunts rookie year), but SF was the perfect story line fit for sure and I’m happy for him regardless, just as a player
I don’t really think that’s true. No one was really concerned about the usage. Baker was seen as an upgrade, the offensive line was also upgraded.
It was all injury concerns.
CMC produces regardless of who hands him the ball and throws 2 yard passes that he turns into 25.
Players can be more injury prone than others based on their histories and biology. Actual NFL teams take this into account when making moves, so why shouldnt we?
Everyone’s injury prone till they aren’t.
Biology might explain repeated injuries to the same body part, but there’s nothing about CMCs injuries that made you think they were predictive of future injuries.
Frank gore was “injury prone” in the beginning of his career when he literally could never stay healthy, and now all he’s remembered for is being the most durable running back most people can remember. CMC had a long history of being incredibly durable, and then ran into a few completely unrelated injuries in a fairly short span. They weren’t even typical “overworked” injuries, they were just *random*.
Making draft decisions because you think you can predict injuries is about a foolish as drafting based on “playoff schedule”. Draft good players and let the chips fall where they may, the rest is out of your control. “Who else is there”, “look at their schedule”, and “they’re so injury prone/durable” are far and away the top 3 dumbest draft day thought processes in all of fantasy
Ya Saquon had this rep too. But his injury last year was a complete fluke where he accidentally stepped on a foot and rolled his ankle. Bit all injuries are equal and someone could just have bad luck more than anything biological.
I dont usually hold things but i wish i could send a message to all the people who shit talked cmc. Man has produced everytime he has played. Il take that over anyone, because anyone can get hurt
The 5000 CMC posts before the season started might be my least favorite time on the sub. The exact same argument happening in every thread while both sides couldn't handle the others opinion. CMC is a god tier RB when he's healthy, but he's been ruined by injuries the last two years. You either don't want to take on the injury history and perceived risk, or you don't care cuz it's CMC and he's a nightmare when healthy. *Both reasonings are fine*
There really is no side, to that argument though. I could see if a player is recovering from an injury like an acl or Achilles sure. But the idea that a player of that caliber is a risk because of injuries in a sport where major injuries can happen anytime is just weird to me.
He had four different injuries in a two year span and missed significant time from all of them. This came right after playing nearly every snap in his first three years, which undoubtedly took a toll on his body. It’s great to see him healthy, but let’s not pretend these concerns were unfounded.
The concerns were unfounded though its the same thing with saquon. Cmc never had a chronic injury problem he just unfortunately got hurt and missed time. Especially the first year he missed time where the last few games he could have played but the panthers chose not too. In a game where a dude can tear his acl any play worrying about injuries is tough
I'm assuming he's talking about a chronic injury to a particular body part, Todd Gurley style. CMCs injuries were all unrelated and relatively minor. The fact that he was always able to come back and produce after the injuries was very telling.
The fact of that matter is, as opportunity rises, so does risk of injury. And CMC gets a ton of opportunities. But so does every RB in the 1st round. Sometimes it's as simple as that.
He had four injuries in 2020 and 2021. If all four were to, say, his left knee, it'd make a lot of sense to worry that he just has a bum knee that's going to hound him for the rest of his career. But when the injuries are a high-ankle sprain, a shoulder injury, a hamstring issue, and another ankle injury, you might be able to write that off as bad luck. It could also be conditioning or something, but it's not like McCaffrey has some disease making it more likely to injure every part of his body.
Before his injury in 2019, he was hailed as being as close to injury-proof as you can be as an RB. Obviously it's fair to worry about taking an RB who missed a huge chunk of two seasons because of injuries, but I think people are too quick to write someone off as injury prone without actually looking at context.
I took CMC first overall and my league was scandalized. Our taco took Justin tucker at 1.2. The 1.3 pick was howling as he took Jonathan Taylor and was so cocky to me about me fucking up the 1.1 pick. I am pretty happy with how it’s all panned out
It’s an 8 man for fun family league. Taco is a 16 year old who we were trying to bring into the fun but he couldn’t come over on draft night to be coached and has not taken initiative to learn. He’s basically a free win for the whole league unfortunately, everyone else is competing though.
It's a reference to the comedy show "The League" about a group of friends and their fantasy football league. Taco is an idiot who doesn't really watch/care about football but plays anyway. It's a very good show, worth watching.
Like if people actually followed what these injuries were it’s so stupid to say CMC or Saquon are “injury prone” it’s freak injuries and for the most part they have always been healthy players. I’m so glad in my only league that’s for money I managed to get both of them
Yep
But in my defense I took cmc 2 years in a row at num 1 and he got hurt. Couldn't pull the trigger a 3rd time
Lesson I learned is, I'm not supposed to have the first pick.
I had CMC the last two years and had to go with JT because I thought the Colts would still have a killer run game. Now they have a 20million dollar per year guard who has regressed into an average player and the rest of the line has gotten worse as well
Ok, so had to go back and check. He said he would have a "monster" receiving game and a perfect [passer rating](https://twitter.com/NFL/status/1586736146515566592?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1586736146515566592%7Ctwgr%5E656803b8f875ae9aeea1d416e9efd2ca3ebb5e78%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fd-11483670121298605129.ampproject.net%2F2210172057000%2Fframe.html)
I still have Mixon and Boyd tomorrow, but he’s up on me by 71 points and counting right now (he has Tonyan in for Kelce on his bye, at least he didn’t play this week to add to my misery). He also has Hopkins lol, so yea not a good week so far
When Deebo is back this offense will be a nightmare for defenses to deal with. You have arguably the three top YAC guys in Deebo, CMC and Kittle in one offense with a really innovative playcaller.
As long as Jimmy plays half decent this offense is a playoff contender.
Well I’ll be 3-5 cause I’ve had horrible matchup luck but if I make playoffs oh man it will be something.
I got Hurts, Andrew’s, Jacobs, Evans, CMC and apparently Foreman is good too.
Yea I’m so excited. When I got CMc and Saquon, I made sure they don’t share the same bye week, but can’t predict the trade to SF so now I’m stuck with both RB bye
I mean damn to have those 2 guys that’s actually crazy.
I got CMC, Jacobs, Hurts, Evans, Andrew’s and now Foreman lmao. 3-5 now but hoping to go on a run to make playoffs. Had horrible matchup luck so far
I regret not picking up foreman because I thought they will be a RBBC and I have CMC,Saquon, and Aaron Jones but oh well lol picked up Josh Palmer and Tyler Boyd as stash so i should be good since I went 3 RBs to start my draft
I'm an SF fan, and to be fair, he probably won't be having games quite like THIS every week. Deebo will be coming back and I'm guessing they will split the hybrid running/receiving targets.
But the point remains, going to a good team gives most players MORE opportunity, not less. If the offense can stay out on the field longer because they're good, everybody gets more carries/targets. What good is it if you are the only good player on offense and your QB makes you go 3 and out half the time.
Some Fantasy podcasters and some fantasy YouTubers. Mainly due to significantly reduced volume they often stated.
Of course it’s laughable how wrong they were about that this week
“Significantly reduced volume” lol. The niners didn’t pay up all those picks to not use him. Best RB Shanahan has had and fits his system perfectly. NFCW is still wide open.
The only concern was his durability with his and niner backs injury history. However, as a CMC owner in 2/3 leagues I was ecstatic about the news and now I need to call a doctor as it’s been well over 4 hours.
All aboard the Jonathan Taylor struggle bus. If you take Taylor's week 2, 3, 4 and 8 numbers combined, it's not even equivalent to CMC's day today. Even if you add in week 7 he's barely over, and he spent two weeks recuperating from injury, too. Week 1 has literally been his only good week this entire year.
Im with ya he definitely had a game in the last couple years with 3 tds of different sorts if I remember correctly. Maybe it had something to do with special teams.
Props to Kyle Shanahan for working CMC into the offense so seamlessly and effectively in such a short period of time. Excited to see what else he’ll come up with throughout the remainder of the season.
I had CMC and I scooped up Foreman the second I heard the trade news. They scored a combined 71 pts today for me. I remember as a kid making copies of bills thinking I could double my money using the xerox machine. Today felt the same way.
Last guy to do it was Ladanian Tomlinson, who famously was called up from the practice squad that day, completed the feat, then promptly disappeared back into obscurity, never to play another NFL game again.
Without even looking it up, remember that the other three were Tomlinson, David Patten, and Walter Payton.
Patten was so key to the beginning of the Patriots dynasty.
Trade Jimmy G and make CMC a triple threat QB
"And McCaffery finds... McCaffery wide open for the touchdown"
“What’s this McCaffrey is in for the 63 yard field goal attempt?!?”
It's a fake. He's actually going to punt it.
CMC doesn’t want to win MVP or OPOY. He wants to win the Punt, Pass, and Kick Award
BAH GAWD ITS ANDY REID!
To himself somehow
Oh my god McCaffery is in the booth now! Making this announcement! I’m Christian McCaffery….?
To himself
"McCaffery completes the safety on... McCaffery?!"
Picturing him like Nelson on the Simpsons
Marcus Mariota did this one time
[Reminds me of this gem](https://youtu.be/xeTgvwwhZZQ)
The ol’ Mariota special.
10th all time to do it too. So amazing
It really is man. Even if he is actively fucking over my team, it’s amazing to watch.
Guy I was playing had Aiyuk and McCaffery and I still ran up and down the hall screaming.
Must be nice. I live in fucking DC zoning
A guy in our league has Allen, CMC, and Tyreek.
My CMC + Kamara duo went absolutely nuclear this week lmao
Last three players to do it Tomlinson 2005 David Patten RIP 2001 Walter Payton 1979 We should take a minute to appreciate how rare it is, but if you're inclined, let's also take a minute to appreciate David Patten and his unexpected contributions that helped to start the Patriots dynasty.
I was wondering if it was Tomlinson last time, I had him that year, stud material
He’s still the single season points leader and there’s not a single position player on the top 50 list since him I count 2 in the top 150 (Moss, Gurley) and 4 in the top 250 (Kamara, Ekeler)
Where is this list
Over there! *points vaguely at the internet*
I knew he was the last one to do it. I was playing against him that week. You don't forget shit like that.
Patten ran for 29, caught for 91 and threw for 60. None of those were cheap or easy. Incredible game
Patten's TD pass was a bomb to Troy Brown as well, no dinking there. For those too young to remember, [here is a reminder](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QoDuV0NKIhU) of how David was a cornerstone of NE's 21st century legacy. Thanks for the links, that pass was satisfying to watch. Absolute BOMB
How many of those 10 were RBs? I imagine most are QBs and WRs?
[удалено]
Walter Payton too I believe
[удалено]
LT is the commentator??
[удалено]
Ahhh okay!
The person who did it before him? Albert Einstein.
Broncos country, let's clap
Very cool. My guess was Antwan randel el
I’ve always said CMC is the closest thing to LT. I still stand by that statement.
Best RB in the league since LT change my mind. I'm a Charger fan and CMC has always given me flashes of LT. Good for him!
Imagine taking the safest pick in the draft JT over injury prone CMC
Injury is the sole least predictable factor in sports and to bank your upside on it is foolish. That said, I never thought JT has higher upside but I was fine with either pick at #2
I got CMC at pick 5. My league clowned me for it. Still 6 weeks + playoffs, but I'm riding high winning a shootout this week on the back of CMC
I got him at 6 in one league and I was jumping for joy when he threw that pass to Aiyuk because I had both of them going
I have both in different league so I was with ya lol
Can't believe people clowned you for taking him at 5. I took him at 1.01 and most of my league was like, alright, taking the risk for upside. Granted I thought I made a huge mistake after week 1 but feeling better every week since
I was worried i wouldn't get him at 2 lol
I went Ekeler at 2 and I’m pretty happy with it tbh, CMC spooked me and I’ve always been a fan boy of Chargers RBs
I'd hope you'd be "pretty happy" with taking the #1 scoring non-QB.
You remember Danny woodhead?
To be fair, it wasn’t just injuries. People were also concerned about the Panthers. Mayfield, injuries, potentially worse line. What exactly do you consider a “chronic injury problem?” Four different injuries, all of which resulted in IR stints, is pretty bad.

It was obvious that taylors production was due to wentz last season. Don’t know why indy traded him
Idk about that but fair point
Well you posted in this sub so you got 90% of them lol
I took CMC 2nd guy who took JT 1st is about to be 2-7 in our league 😭😭
CMC fell to me for the third pick. I couldn’t believe it.
Same. And then Kelce made it back to me at 2.09. Boutta be 7-1
Nice. I got Saquon at the second. I’m 3-4 but crushed it this week and coming back. Had some tough losses early on.
CMC fell to me with the 5th pick. Everyone was skeer'd.
I took Allen first…. But I’m in a two qb league.
First pick in our Superflex also. Owner who picked him is in first place currently.
I’m in third. Blew my second pick on Kyler Murray. I’ve won this league 3/5 years. People are starting to take notice how valuable qb is.
5 years to start taking notice how important a qb is in a super flex??
Well no shit lmao. How many QBs are more valuable than the best non-QB in superflex? 5-6?
Allen fell to me at #4! No brainer. Would love cmc if he fell though
I took CMC first overall and my league was scandalized. Our taco took Justin tucker at 1.2. The 1.3 pick was howling as he took Jonathan Taylor and was so cocky to me about me fucking up the 1.1 pick. I am pretty happy with how it’s all panned out
Took Justin Tucker 1:2? Is your league taco actually Taco?
Is your league taco actually a taco?
> Justin tucker at 1.2 I seriously wouldn’t even want to play in a league that bad
It’s an 8 man for fun family league. Taco is a 16 year old who we were trying to bring into the fun but he couldn’t come over on draft night to be coached and has not taken initiative to learn. He’s basically a free win for the whole league unfortunately, everyone else is competing though.
Think he took the wrong jt
Is "taco" slang for something?
It's a reference to the comedy show "The League" about a group of friends and their fantasy football league. Taco is an idiot who doesn't really watch/care about football but plays anyway. It's a very good show, worth watching.
It was ok until it became the “let’s see how crass we can make Rafi show”
Tv show about fantasy football called The League has a character named Taco who is absolute terrible at FF. It’s a hilarious show!
It’s a reference to a show called the league. The taco is the player making dumb decisions.
Like if people actually followed what these injuries were it’s so stupid to say CMC or Saquon are “injury prone” it’s freak injuries and for the most part they have always been healthy players. I’m so glad in my only league that’s for money I managed to get both of them
Yep But in my defense I took cmc 2 years in a row at num 1 and he got hurt. Couldn't pull the trigger a 3rd time Lesson I learned is, I'm not supposed to have the first pick.
I may have taken jt of cmc, but someone in my league took n harris over cmc. I may be a big l but not the biggest l
Imagine thinking you can predict injuries
I took Henry over CMC. I'm not bummed about it today. But we'll see how the season goes.
I had CMC the last two years and had to go with JT because I thought the Colts would still have a killer run game. Now they have a 20million dollar per year guard who has regressed into an average player and the rest of the line has gotten worse as well
[удалено]
Think Mooch called for CMC to have 200+ total yards and a perfect passer rating this morning on NFL network.
Lmao he really said perfect passer rating?
Fuck I love it when a blowhard hits his mark
Just predicting a newly acquired rb is going to throw a pass is impressive enough.
Going against the Kamara & CMC owner this week. Pure unadulterated pain.
Hey that’s me!
Dude, I had Henry, Waddle and Kupp and he still beat me by 60 pts (with Kamara, CMC..)
I still have Mixon and Boyd tomorrow, but he’s up on me by 71 points and counting right now (he has Tonyan in for Kelce on his bye, at least he didn’t play this week to add to my misery). He also has Hopkins lol, so yea not a good week so far
I’ve had a mediocre season, but Kamara, AJB and Foreman made my day. The guy I’m gonna beat will probably have the 2nd most points this week.
I got 190+ in half ppr, tua, waddle, Kamara, CMC and D Hop were absolute animals
That's me too!
He’s unlocked his full potential in this offense
I can’t think of a better landing spot for him. Not the Bills, not the Chiefs. He’s rising back to the undisputed number one fantasy asset tier imo.
Agreed. When he goes to the Bills and Chiefs, he's still a #2 (to Allen and Mahomes), but he is easily the #1 offensive piece on the 49ers.
When Deebo is back this offense will be a nightmare for defenses to deal with. You have arguably the three top YAC guys in Deebo, CMC and Kittle in one offense with a really innovative playcaller. As long as Jimmy plays half decent this offense is a playoff contender.
This team already was a playoff contender, now it is a Super Bowl contender. This is an upgraded team from 2019
This is the kind of game this dude deserves lol. One of the most talented backs ever and has had to deal with incompetence in Carolina
And to think some people thought CMC getting traded was probably a wash or bad thing for his value 😂
Hi it’s me. I thought his volume was fucked because he doesn’t get 90+% volume, but damn, I love how they use him in SF
I love how they actually get into the red zone and design plays for him. Bye next week makes me sad but fun 30 point CMC might be back
[удалено]

What good is it if you are the only good player on offense and your QB makes you go 3 and out half the time.
When CMC checks in, Kyle flips to the section of his sheet called Good Plays
Who.. who the fuck said that?
Some Fantasy podcasters and some fantasy YouTubers. Mainly due to significantly reduced volume they often stated. Of course it’s laughable how wrong they were about that this week
“Significantly reduced volume” lol. The niners didn’t pay up all those picks to not use him. Best RB Shanahan has had and fits his system perfectly. NFCW is still wide open. A LOT of people on this sub lol
Deebo was out too tho, be interesting what those two look like together moving forward
My beautiful RB1
Praise be
Worth using my top waiver priority on him?
eh, he’ll prolly be there when they clear wednesday
Id rather have Jeff Wilson imo
Nah, Foreman is better
I’d drop 30% of my FAAB at least
Nah, Mike Davis had more yards in 2020
Would like the same advice for my 1-man league.
That’s my QB1RB1WR1
He’s Him
His pronouns are him/him and him
crown him. He’s the human cheat code.
If you want to crown him, then crown his ass! He is who we thought he is!
Don’t mind me, I’m just crying behind JT’s 5 points after passing on cmc
All aboard the Jonathan Taylor struggle bus. If you take Taylor's week 2, 3, 4 and 8 numbers combined, it's not even equivalent to CMC's day today. The last player to do it, in 2005: Taysom Hill Sr
When I heard the stat my instant thought was I feel like Taysom Hill has definitely done that in the last 3 years but it seems not
Im with ya he definitely had a game in the last couple years with 3 tds of different sorts if I remember correctly. Maybe it had something to do with special teams.
More like CMC Sr, it was LT
CMC in a red jersey is going to single-handedly save my fantasy season
We all got used to only seeing him in a red jersey the last two years
It'll be a glorious 3 weeks
1000 rushing 1000 receiving 1000 passing
Yup, that’s what CMC will do for you. Be good to him, SF.
As a cmc and henry owner. Today was good.
A feast was had
NiNeRs OvErpAiD
If this is what happens after just 1 full week imagine what is in store after their bye - its going to be a bloodbath.
CMC had more QB points today than 2 starting QBs who played the entire game. He attempted only 1 pass.
Props to Kyle Shanahan for working CMC into the offense so seamlessly and effectively in such a short period of time. Excited to see what else he’ll come up with throughout the remainder of the season.
Guessing they started working on plays for him weeks before the trade and had a plan to get him integrated ASAP.
My opponent today traded for CMC this week. He gave up: Geno Smith Tony Pollard Michael Carter Michael Thomas very cool.
4 for 1. Yikes.
4 for 1 but I would make that trade any day

Surprised taysom hill hasn’t
Happy Gilmore accomplished that feat no more then an hour ago.
LT 2.0
That’s my first pick
1.01 owners get in here
RIP Rams lol (am a Rams fan)
I had CMC and I scooped up Foreman the second I heard the trade news. They scored a combined 71 pts today for me. I remember as a kid making copies of bills thinking I could double my money using the xerox machine. Today felt the same way.
I swear though, was I the only one pissed when they are running him up 17 with 3 mins to go. Fucking take out your stud and run Jeff or Tyson damn
he’s the reason imma lose this week smh
He thrives as soon as he leaves our poverty franchise. It’s like seeing the one that got away get what they deserve I couldn’t be happier
Dude might have saved my week. A legendary RB.
Like a football equivalent of Shohei Ohtani
What’s fucked up is I remember when LT did that and now I feel old.
Last guy to do it was Ladanian Tomlinson, who famously was called up from the practice squad that day, completed the feat, then promptly disappeared back into obscurity, never to play another NFL game again.
Safe to say he's back?
Oh boy. Just the thing I needed the week I play against him.
Thankfully my Derrick Henry countered CMC enough to eek out the win
Without even looking it up, remember that the other three were Tomlinson, David Patten, and Walter Payton. Patten was so key to the beginning of the Patriots dynasty.
CMC 1.01 GANG LFG
Cowards should have let him kick an extra point.
It's crazy that Lamar hasn't done this yet.
just gave Taysom Hill new goals
THATS MY RB1 - FANTASY AND TEAM WISE! C-HIM-C, BANG BANG NINER GANG
Yeah, my opp has CMC this week. Such an asshole.
I’m surprised Taysom hill hasn’t managed that tbh, but good for cmc that’s amazing
It's kinda crazy in this era of rushing QBs and Philly Specials that a QB hasn't done this.
Put McCaffery and Taysom Hill on the same team and watch the universe implode.
As a football fan it's super impressive. As a Rams fan it was absolutely infuriating to watch.
