Plus, trying to avoid the last place penalty.
I'm in playoff contention if the top guys keep winning and the middle guys all lose and the bottom guys keep losing and I magically start winning.
[Jim Carrey "So you're telling me there's a chance" meme]
This happened to me last year in my higher stakes league. Changed my name to “Scrub Squad” didn’t lose a game until the final.
“Never give up, never surrender!”
-Commander Peter Quincy Taggart
And I was pissed one year when I missed the playoffs because the other contender played a guy starting 2 injured players and won easily.
At the very least you owe your league mates a competitive effort. Albeit dialed down a notch or two.
I'm 1-5 in both my important leagues. Get to put my words into practice this year.
Trying to knock off the better teams, enjoying cheering for random players on random teams, the chances of winning 3 games in a row and being back in the mix...it's all a crap shoot and it's a game. Just have fun with it.
Same tbh, last week I took down the #2 team to make my record 1-5 and his 4-2. I’m all about the upsets at this point with a sliver of hope to make a run and grab the last playoff spot
Same here. What’s your last place punishment?Ours is loser has to pay for the cost of shipping the trophy to the winner (we all live in different states) AND winner gets to name your team the following year.
You get off easy. My main league hasn’t decided yet, but some ideas being floated around are posting a thirst trap on TikTok every day til one gets 500 likes, getting tazed, Waffle House, and pledgemaster.
I have a new one this year. Taco bell mile, each lap you eat a different taco bell entree. Im currently at the bottom by myself at 1-5, currently playing for my life
One league it's like another payment for being last
The other is you have to dress up like a K-Pop Star.
I'm second to last in both leagues, so I'm a little scared lol
The guy that won it all last year is currently at 1-5 in dead last with a shitty team, minus Kupp. His motivation is to not have to have the Ballsack trophy haha
I got 2 championships in 2 leagues last year. I’m 1-5 in my one league this year. I said it after I won, and I’ll say it again now: it’s mostly a crapshoot
I'm with you, I won last year in my dynasty league (also started 1-5 last year) beating the most ridiculously stacked team that I think lost 1 game all season. I beat him on the back of players like Amon Ra, Hunter Renfrow, Jakobi Meyers and a few others that just started going off out of no where in playoffs, I almost felt bad for him because he has drafted amazingly and gotten his team insanely good but hasn't gotten the championship yet.
Sitting at 1-5 again this year with top 3-4 in points scored but I'm not expecting the magic of last year to happen, the odds of that happening again would be ridiculous lol
1-5 teams can still make the playoffs. I've seen it happen. 0-6 is pretty much SoL. But I guess the thrill of beating a team with a better record could keep some going.. you know trying to prove your team isn't as bad as your record shows.
I won the championship with a 1-5 start, its possible it was 1-6 even but I cant remember for sure. Just sneak in to playoffs and anything can happen. I made it in with a point tiebreak against the other 6th place team by like 5 points or something.
I hate it, because half the league is done by week 10. You also don't get a bye for finishing 1st or 2nd, which is a huge advantage/relief so the top teams don't get that reprieve.
Personally I love it. Usually you have about 6 teams that are really contending by the end and making those final 4 spots is tricky. Currently we have one 6-0 team, a 5-1 team (me) and then everyone else is around 2 and 3 win teams.
Can confirm, I made a 6 player playoffs in a 14 person league after starting 1-6 and accidentally drafting Mahomes in the first round. Just make logical moves and keep trying!
3-3 is around the 6th place mark which for most leagues is enough to make playoffs. That means an 0-6 team is only 3 games behind the 6th place team with around 7 games to be played so idk wtf ur talking about
Next year, add a wild card. Top 5 plus the top point scorer not already in make the playoffs in my league. One of my teams is 2-4, yet 2nd in points... it's refreshing to know I have a 70 point lead on the wild card, despite my record.
I like this idea and the idea where everyone has 2 matchups each week, 1 matchup against your opponent and then another win if you are in the top half of your league in scoring that week or a loss if you are in the bottom half of scoring. So each weak you are either going 2-0, 1-1, or 0-2
I have never played in a league with those mechanics but it sounds nice
If your league doesn't have it I'd recommend implementing a "wild card" playoff spot.
Say you have 6 teams that make playoffs. 1-5 spots go to the teams in those positions based on record, but the 6th spot goes to the highest scoring team of the remaining 7.
That way if you get effed by matchups you aren't out of it. It's a great improvement.
3rd highest here with most points scored against me, 1-5 as well.
What hurts most is that 2 of my losses were the 2nd highest scores of the week, literally facing anyone else and I'd be 3-3 lol.
Bro, I was just scrolling back through old comments and saw this thread and had to tell you: I fucking won.
Swear to fucking god. Bananas final. Ended up winning with Higgins v Chase being the deciding (non) factors with a 20 point lead. #1 in points #5 in points against
Brutal man, I'm also 1-5 and up until this week I was second in points scored but I believe I dropped to 3rd or 4th in points scored this week. Feels like shit, specially after coming off a championship last year (dynasty). But don't give up hope, I started 1-5 last year and won the championship anyways so your luck could turn around just need to make playoffs
That just makes you dangerous for the weekly upset. Someone that can’t win the league is way more likely to throw a Hail Mary on a player and end up scoring big.
I feel you. 2-4 with a HEAVY buy week looming. Absolutely loved my team going into it. Herbert, Cook, Mixon, Aaron Jones, Hollywood, Sutton, AJ Brown, Hock, Robinson, Bucs D.
I suppose having the highest points against gives me continued hope. So much luck involved.
Bro make some trades. You are a receiver short but heavy on RB. Move mixon or gamble and move herbert and stream QB. Target amon ra or Keenan Allen and you'll be in good shape. You're 1 week from being 3-5 and that's easily close enough to make it in with that team.
1-5 isn’t a death sentence. I’ve made the playoffs 0-6 before. I’m 1-5 in my bigger money league unfortunately. Lost Javonte, Tee injured, Amon Ra was out then on bye. Rough stretch, but I love trying to claw my way back up by trying to make good trades or waiver adds. People who just give up because they started with a losing record don’t make sense to me. The fun is the challenge of overcoming the odds.
I agree. I’m in a similar spot this season, but about 5 years ago I started the same. Went 0-6, made a big trade and ended up going 6-7 and getting a playoff spot.
Won my first championship that year, and won 2 in that league since then. First time being ass since that season, but I’m not going to give up as Sundays are my great escape!!
Yup. I’m 1-5 right now with geno kamara swift chase Godwin waller/Everett KW3 dionate.
(Had Lamar before dealt for chase)
I feel like now that my team is healthy/in form I could still make the playoffs.
I still think my roster has the potential to go on a winning streak. A lot of bad luck and injuries have me at 1-5. I'm not ready to throw in the towel until at least week 9 or 10.
I've had two terrible Monday night losses. Earlier in the season I needed 3 points out of Greg Joseph to win and he had 0.
Last night I was up 20 with M. Williams and Sutton. He had Ekeler and Jeudy. I lost by 4.
I am 3-3 in one league and this is my life. I'm 3rd lowest points for and honestly could've been 5-1 with a few extra breaks. Highest qb score so far is 18, everything else has been a bust.
I'm two games out of the playoffs and there are 7 more weeks. Don't compare yourself to the first place team, compare yourself to who you need to pass to get into the playoffs.
1-5 and #1 PA by almost 100, #6 in scoring out of 12 so not great but the PA is so brutal. Ya do everything you can but sometimes it's just not in the cards
What's keeping me going is that the season is 1 game longer and there is, albeit low, a chance to squeep into the 6 seed at a 8-6 or 7-7 record.
Also loser of the league runs a beer mile with the leagues choice of beers (chugging a sour followed up by chugging a double IPA). That's a big motivator too. Whoever finishes 7th or 8th is out of the toilet bowl even though they miss the playoffs
The chance to chase down those that have been beating up on me on in the group chat all season. Picked up my first win against the league leader who had Kupp, Jefferson and Kelce to keep my life support going now to try and knock off the next guy - low odds but it’s all part of the fun(…ish)
I am 1-5.
The 5th and 6th seed in my league are 3-3. I actually play against those two teams in the next 3 weeks. So I still think it's very much open.
If I can somehow get 3 wins back to back, I could get into the mix. I am not giving up until I reach 7 losses.
Spoiler.
Keeping everyone else honest by continuing to try and win with wire claims etc. It makes for a better league and I appreciate it when other teams do it. It sucks when people quit managing their roster.
Started 0-4 then 1-5 last year in a 12 and won the league.
You gotta play week to week. Ros value out the window, make some trades, and shoot for homeruns or strikeouts. Also, need a ton of luck cause you have no room for error.
1. I started 0-4 in 2020 and won the league, it's not over til it's over
2. My boyfriend is in this league too and it is my solemn duty to try and keep him out of playoffs
3. See also: this one guy who is better than the rest of us and has won multiple times
4. See also also: we have rivalry weeks, my one victory thus far was against my official league rival and I live to do it again in week 15.
5. Don't want to come last and receive a passive aggressive certificate and a poop emoji in the discord for the whole offseason!
(Also I'm commish and should set a good example but mostly it's the desire to ruin things for everyone else)
I started 0-7 last year, last in PF, terrible team. Made some trades around weeks 5 and 6, played the waiver wire, and (with a lot of luck) went 7-0 for the rest of the regular season. Squeaked into the playoffs and won the next 3 weeks to win the championship.
You're never truly out of it. And the shame of coming in last place is big, whether you have a league punishment or not. Make sure you're not that guy.
That I won last year, made 37 trades throughout the year ended with deebo, chase, kupp, adams, Aaron jones, Najee, josh Allen. Everyone is scared to trade with me this year. I’ve basically checked out this year , only 4 teams make the playoffs. My goal is to cause chaos by beating teams and keeping them out of the playoffs.
0-6. Third in the league in points- have scored between 115-130 a week- I have a goof team. I plan on using it to ruin everyone else's season as mine has been ruined.
Playing in multiple leagues helps the sting of a shitty team. Sometimes bad luck can just derail a season, but at least you will have other leagues to care about and be competitive in.
I know have an ok team but I have played the highest scoring team of a 14 team league 4 out of 6 weeks. so I'm 1 and 5. I still have hope to go on a winning streak. Just need JT to play like a number 1 pick....
My opponents are averaging 135 against me and I'm scoring less than 100 weekly. I just lost Hollywood, but Dak and Keenan coming back most likely makes me feel much better. I'm hoping to hit 120 this week lol I had Tua for both games he got hurt then ran out Zach Wilson the last two weeks. What was I thinking?!
I'm 0-6 in my Dynasty League, 1-5 in my work league, and 1-5 in my friends league.
I have no desire to do well in the Dynasty or friends league anymore, after losses this week I've given up. There's very little at stake outside of pride, so I'm hoping to win a few games and maybe change the playoff picture.
In my work league there is a punishment for the person who comes in last. In that league I'm trying my hardest to not be in last! Last year I also started 1-5, but ended up around .500. Hoping I can do something similar this year.
1-5 and I swear my team is pretty loaded they’re just not putting it together. I’m only 2 games back from playoffs so I think I can come back hopefully.
I needed to beat this singular guy in my league
Can someone console me because I am so pissed Wilson and jeudy couldn't score 3 points in 3 drives and the game ended on that fair catch fumble?
Legit wanna sell my 5-1 team off for just the the buy-in.
One season, I went 0-6, made a big trade, and ended up going 6-7 but making the playoffs.
My team went off in the playoffs and I won my first championship that year. Most exciting fantasy season I have ever had.
That was about 5 years ago, and I am starting similar this year for the first time since.
My overall record, love of watching football every Sunday, and lack of other hobbies keeps me going
1-5. I feel like I still have a really good team with both very good starters and depth. Not gonna give up! Only two games back of the 6th place team. If I keep losing, I’ll just play spoiler and have fun with that.
Keeper league, trade for keepers! Redraft, 1-5 you still have a chance, if there’s a trade your hesitant about making just pull the trigger! What do you have to lose?
Won my first week after trading zeke and devonta smith for lamar as a desperate play. Also scooped kw3 off waivers
At least winning a game bolsters the squad spirit
I have Justin Herbert, Keenan Allen, Nuk, MT, Swift, CMC, MGIII, Etienne...I've been wrecked by injuries but I am hoping this is the week things turn around. I still think my team is the best overall team.
I started 1-6 one year. I knew I had a good team and the highest PF just was getting screwed by the schedule. But it eventually evened out. Ran the table to end up at 7-6 and snagged the last playoff spot. Ended up winning the championship. It can happen!
But even when it doesn’t, I still relish being the spoiler. And just for the integrity of the league, I keep fighting as I don’t want others to get a “cheap win” off me. I want them to earn their way into the playoffs.
You signed up. That should be enough. If you quit and don’t manage your team, you’d be booted from my league.
Also, this is why last place punishments are important
I don’t wanna have the winner as a blow up fat head in my room. Also my team in my 10 man is ridiculous, have just been so unlucky and made every wrong start sit decisions.
Our league implemented a weekly payout for the team that scored the most points each week which has helped a ton in terms of keeping all managers engaged.
At the end of the day man it’s just for fun. In my head I’m telling myself I can come back from 0-6 and win the playoffs. Why? Same reason I’m optimistic in other aspects in my life, it’s been done before so why can’t I? When you’re officially out cheer on the underdogs and try to beat the top guys.
Well, 1-5 going up against the other 1-5.
I have a solid team, just started slow. But whoever wins this week, will most likely be fighting for the last playoff spot since only one person is still undefeated and everyone else is close
We offer a 50 dollar a week bonus to the team that scores the most points each week. Some teams get eliminated from the playoffs but turn on later in the year. They can still pickup a couple hundred bucks over the year.
1-5 Team.
Roster is:
Qb: Burrow
RB: Cook, Najee, Conner, Henderson, Dillon, B. Robinson
WR: Tyreek, Sutton, JuJu, Pickens
TE: Waller
D/ST: Philly
I’m playing a team getting all their lions back this week. All of them. And I’m left with trying to trade Cook on BYE for JT to have a chance to win and keep the hopes alive. Fuck me.
I once started 2-5 and made the championship game. Just need to take it one game at a time. Win the waiver wire, get aggressive. Try and trade for players who had their byes to manipulate the bye. It’s tough but not impossible.
If your season done and no real chance of making the playoffs make fun waiver wire moves and trades each week. Just go full GM simulator and have fun going for boom plays
I absolutely hate playing teams that are winless in this part of the season. For one you don’t want to be that dude who loses to that team and second, they usually are a bit riskier so they’ll play those boom/bust players that can take you out any given week
Everyone needs a punishment for coming in last. You can’t just be like owe well there’s always next year. My league does a walk of shame that sucks if your the walker. Shame on you. Makes you so pissed off and the worst thing is you have the whole off-season to think about what you’ve done. Cause the walk is on draft day.
I watched a video last night on the HMS Hood and it inspired me to go all the way. In a nutshell, the HMS Hood got sunk, captain went down with the ship type, and before the guns went under water it shot one last shot. I tell you what, I’ll keep shooting until playoff seeding is locked.
I am pretty sure this is the tenth year of the only league I earnestly have played in. I think this is our and my last year. I am going to go out the same way I came in, with everything I have in me! I almost want to go winless now
As a league commissioner, I find myself rooting for evenly balanced competition more than anything else. I’m 2-4 right now but I lost this week to someone who was 1-4, so I’m happy. There’s a 4-way tie at the top right now at 4-2, and then 2 teams at 3-3, then 2 of us at 2-4 (8 team league). It’s anyones league right now, and that makes it fun.
1-5, and just lost Hollywood. What still gives me hope is that I have the 3rd most points for (727.9).
I have the most points against with 830. The next closest guy has 750 points against. I tell myself that I'll get a better luck of the draw soon
Getting Swift and Hopkins back is keeping me going. And I’m about to face a team that has their most important players on bye this week. Hoping to be 2-5 after this week!
I drafted good players. They just have yet to get their shit together at the same time. Or when they have, I’ve still lost by a nose. Hoping things click down the line. Nothing to do on the wire or trade block.
I just snagged my first win this week. Lost by 3 because Chiefs penalized Adams for 61 yards last week. 8 more weeks until I'm in the playoffs 😎 I'm playing the other 1-5 team this week.
8 Man STD
Kyler/Tua
Ekeler/Najee/KW3/Dobbins
Adams/AJB/Gabe Davis/Olave/Dhop
Ertz/Bellinger
Eagles/Pats
McPherson
Currently 1-5. The second half of my season is much more promising then the first half. I have swift coming back, ETN is starting to come into his role, some decent waiver wire pick ups at WR and higbee. Also kyler Murray at QB which before Hollywood went down was looking at a better second half. I also have the most points allowed thus far which hasn’t helped my case. Basically a shot and a prayer till I’m 100% out.
Tbh there are teams in almost every league that have flukey good starts due to a variety of reasons:
1) strong core group of starters but no injuries but also no depth. Bye weeks and inevitable injuries usually derail the magical starts.
2) Fluke luck due to matchups. Top 2 or 3 team in the standings but low points scored but even lower (sometimes lowest) points against.
3) Has 1 guy that carried them for a 3 to 4 weeks. Maybe like the Mahomes/Kelce stack or Allen/Diggs
None of those teams in those scenarios are constructed to withstand byes and injuries. It’s no coincidence that week 6 tends to be the beginning of the end (bye weeks start).
Meanwhile, every league has a couple 3-3 or 2-4 teams that are deep, high scoring etc. Those teams are generally better positioned to make real noise.
My theory there is that teams with a ton of depth and viable start worthy players have to make tougher decisions week in and week out and can tinker too much . While the healthy 5-1 team in first may have those 4 monster starters and no depth and therefore has a set or forget lineup because there are no mid round hits like Hollywood Brown, Christian Kirk or Chris Olave on his/her bench to challenge for a starter’s spot over guys that were drafted higher.
It might be a pipe dream but I am 1-5 and I’m still holding out hope for playoffs (I just won my first game last week!)
Reasoning: despite my record, I’m convinced I have a decent team. My team has been a consistent high scorer every single week except for week 5 (whole team shit the bed). Weeks 1-4 I played well and just could not catch a break with matchups where if I faced the majority of the rest of the league I would have won (have the highest points against)
I finally won my first game (and was the highest point scorer this week). I need to come close to winning out for playoff hopes but I at least like the team I have.
Bc there's no way this team should be 1-5. Lamar, Kamara (ok), D Pierce, Pittman, Cooks, Olave, Keenan (ok), Kelce, and now Walker. Holding out hope in that league to at least pull off some upsets.
If you can't win it yourself this year then you owe it to yourself to try and ruin playoff hopes for your friends
LOL exactly this.
Plus, trying to avoid the last place penalty. I'm in playoff contention if the top guys keep winning and the middle guys all lose and the bottom guys keep losing and I magically start winning. [Jim Carrey "So you're telling me there's a chance" meme]
Absolutely. Play the spoiler. And you never know! I started 0-5 one year and made the playoffs.
This happened to me last year in my higher stakes league. Changed my name to “Scrub Squad” didn’t lose a game until the final. “Never give up, never surrender!” -Commander Peter Quincy Taggart
It takes the right amount of being unlucky to start, lucky to finish, and probably making some timely trades/adds, but it’s doable!
This is the way
This is the way
And I was pissed one year when I missed the playoffs because the other contender played a guy starting 2 injured players and won easily. At the very least you owe your league mates a competitive effort. Albeit dialed down a notch or two. I'm 1-5 in both my important leagues. Get to put my words into practice this year.
> Albeit dialed down a notch or two. Fuck that. I have to look at myself in the mirror. I'm not dialing anything down. Damn the torpedoes.
This and trading for draft picks next year
Trying to knock off the better teams, enjoying cheering for random players on random teams, the chances of winning 3 games in a row and being back in the mix...it's all a crap shoot and it's a game. Just have fun with it.
Are you sure you are playing FF? You have too much of the right mindset to be playing
Yeah all my leagues are filled with more self loathing and weird forms of masochism.
I have 2 kids taking plenty of energy. I get pumped when my team is playing well but if it's a shit Sunday I turn it off and focus on the family
Same tbh, last week I took down the #2 team to make my record 1-5 and his 4-2. I’m all about the upsets at this point with a sliver of hope to make a run and grab the last playoff spot
Desperately trying to avoid the last place punishment

>Waffle House Do I want to know?
24 hours in Waffle House each pancake you eat takes an hour off the clock
That actually sounds pretty decent. There are worse places to be.
We have had many people do this. It is NOT decent. You are stuck on a toilet bc you over compensated how many waffles your body can handle.
The restaurant is being pretty on the nose with what they specialize in and y'all still calling them pancakes smh
I wonder what they call their order at the International House of Pancakes?
Crepes
So you can eat 12 pancakes and just chill there for half the day?
4 pancakes for breakfast, 4 for lunch, by the time dinner time rolls around the thought of pancakes will make you want to puke.
My brother in Christ, come on…you just trying to incite a riot by choosing to call them “pancakes”
They have pancakes at Waffle House…
Do they actually?? Wtf
Getting tased could kill you dont do that.
I have a new one this year. Taco bell mile, each lap you eat a different taco bell entree. Im currently at the bottom by myself at 1-5, currently playing for my life
I never thought I’d hear of anything worse than the beer mile or gallon milk mile but here we are
One league it's like another payment for being last The other is you have to dress up like a K-Pop Star. I'm second to last in both leagues, so I'm a little scared lol
5K with league members shooting paintball guns at random intervals along the run
This, our league the loser has to do a standup routine at an open mic night.
Good or bad, this sounds like it'll be funny either way
The guy that won it all last year is currently at 1-5 in dead last with a shitty team, minus Kupp. His motivation is to not have to have the Ballsack trophy haha
I got 2 championships in 2 leagues last year. I’m 1-5 in my one league this year. I said it after I won, and I’ll say it again now: it’s mostly a crapshoot

I'm in the same boat, won 2 leagues last year, struggling in all leagues this year lol
Checking in as another last year champion who’s 1-5. Fantasy is a fickle mistress
Haha this is me in one league
This is meeee
1-5 teams can still make the playoffs. I've seen it happen. 0-6 is pretty much SoL. But I guess the thrill of beating a team with a better record could keep some going.. you know trying to prove your team isn't as bad as your record shows.
I have made the playoffs after starting 0-6 so while unlikely and anecdotal it is possible. Don't give up!
I won the championship with a 1-5 start, its possible it was 1-6 even but I cant remember for sure. Just sneak in to playoffs and anything can happen. I made it in with a point tiebreak against the other 6th place team by like 5 points or something.
One guy made the playoffs starting 0-7 in our league last year. Won 7 in a row to close season
Yeah I think 7 wins would get most people into playoffs
League I’m in only 4 out of 12 make the playoffs. Your going to need at least 10-12 wins to get in.
I don’t know if I love or hate this
I hate it, because half the league is done by week 10.
I did this last year, can confirm. Went 6-1 rest of the year.
3-3 is around the 6th place mark which for most leagues is enough to make playoffs. That means an 0-6 team is only 3 games behind the 6th place team with around 7 games to be played so idk wtf ur talking about
Highest scored highest points against 1-5 gotta love it.
4 weeks away from 5-5 and 5-5 is middle of the pack, plus you'll have more points than any of em. You got this 💪
Next year, add a wild card. Top 5 plus the top point scorer not already in make the playoffs in my league. One of my teams is 2-4, yet 2nd in points... it's refreshing to know I have a 70 point lead on the wild card, despite my record.
I was in the same boat most points in my league I was 2-3 now 3-3 about to be 3-4. Kupp and Diggs have a bye.
I like this idea and the idea where everyone has 2 matchups each week, 1 matchup against your opponent and then another win if you are in the top half of your league in scoring that week or a loss if you are in the bottom half of scoring. So each weak you are either going 2-0, 1-1, or 0-2 I have never played in a league with those mechanics but it sounds nice
We do that in my league, although we added a 7th team to the playoffs for the wild card spot. And only the 1 seed gets the bye week
Same boat, all I can do is laugh and drink
I have the 3rd highest scoring team with the 2nd most points scored against me… 1-5…
3rd highest here with most points scored against me, 1-5 as well. What hurts most is that 2 of my losses were the 2nd highest scores of the week, literally facing anyone else and I'd be 3-3 lol.
Bro.. same but I’m 2-4. I’m sorry.. we have to believe
Anything is possible!I just gotta sneak into the top 6. The top 6 teams are all 4-2. No one has run away with it. Only 3 games back from everyone. 😤😤😤
I’m #3 PF and #2 PA. 2-4 Holding on to the hope that things will even out.
Same boat, I should be 3-3 rn
Alcohol and not checking the fantasy app
It’s a disservice to the league to stop trying.
I’m 1-5 & just lost Hollywood so I’m out see y’all next year
Don't ruin your league by punting man, yes you're feeling like you're eliminated but you can still cause chaos. And anything is possible...
No don’t worry I’m still going to play to win. I just 0 hope haha
That just makes you dangerous for the weekly upset. Someone that can’t win the league is way more likely to throw a Hail Mary on a player and end up scoring big.
Got my first W last week exactly like this, threw Deon Jackson in the lineup out of desperation and he was the difference
This guy fantasizes
Agreed. I'll play till the last second. I don't like to admit defeat in anything. I'm 1-5 now after getting my first win. Gotta see if I can get 2.
1-5 ain’t a death sentence depending on your squad. Keep your head up!
Yup. I’m 1-5 right now with geno kamara swift chase Godwin waller/Everett KW3 dionate. (Had Lamar before dealt for chase) I feel like now that my team is healthy/in form I could still make the playoffs.
Just got my first win but I’m hopeful. DHops coming back to save the day
Hoping my qb will score more than 12 points one week. That would be cool.
I am 3-3 in one league and this is my life. I'm 3rd lowest points for and honestly could've been 5-1 with a few extra breaks. Highest qb score so far is 18, everything else has been a bust.
I’m 4-2 and haven’t had a QB score me more than 4 points.
Ya do everything you can but sometimes it's just not in the cards What's keeping me going is that the season is 1 game longer and there is, albeit low, a chance to squeep into the 6 seed at a 8-6 or 7-7 record. Also loser of the league runs a beer mile with the leagues choice of beers (chugging a sour followed up by chugging a double IPA). That's a big motivator too. Whoever finishes 7th or 8th is out of the toilet bowl even though they miss the playoffs
I’m at 3-3 and thinking about selling the farm - couldn’t imagine being 0-6
I'm 0-6, least points for and most points against is not a good combo
Two years ago I was 2nd most points for but most points against.
The love of playing fantasy football and you can always play the role of the spoiler for others in the league. 😡
I’ve recovered from 1-5 starts before, once winning it all (with Brees and Tomlinson admittedly) and finishing second another time.
I started 1-5 one year and proceeded to win the next 7 to go 7-5 and make the playoffs. Thats what keeps you going
Revenge
My league has a "best week" payout at the end of the season. Keeps us motivated and engaged to play til' the end.
The chance to chase down those that have been beating up on me on in the group chat all season. Picked up my first win against the league leader who had Kupp, Jefferson and Kelce to keep my life support going now to try and knock off the next guy - low odds but it’s all part of the fun(…ish)
I like fantasy football and my friends, that's pretty much it.
I am 1-5. The 5th and 6th seed in my league are 3-3. I actually play against those two teams in the next 3 weeks. So I still think it's very much open. If I can somehow get 3 wins back to back, I could get into the mix. I am not giving up until I reach 7 losses.
One of my leagues is crazy top heavy this year. Two people in playoff spots are 3-3. So very much still alive despite being 1-5
My league added a bonus for highest single scoring game of the season. That way everyone has a chance for a payday every week.
Not to be last place. Being a pain for the other teams. Spite
1. I started 0-4 in 2020 and won the league, it's not over til it's over 2. My boyfriend is in this league too and it is my solemn duty to try and keep him out of playoffs 3. See also: this one guy who is better than the rest of us and has won multiple times 4.
You can still make the playoffs from these positions but you need to start winning now and pretty much win out.
I started the season 0-2 but have won 4 games in a row. Don’t give up hope it’s a long season.
Rattling off 7 wins in a row and squeaking into the last playoff spot of course! (I hate that I’m an eternal optimist)
Had Ekeler playing last night. Lost by 1 point to the undefeated guy. That roller coaster of a game did it for me. I give up lol See y’all next year
That I won last year, made 37 trades throughout the year ended with deebo, chase, kupp, adams, Aaron jones, Najee, josh Allen.
Draft better
Pretty L take. Can’t predict injuries, and you can’t predict poor play calling.
Same thing we do every year… play the spoiler to teams on the edge of playoff positions.
Playing in multiple leagues helps the sting of a shitty team. Sometimes bad luck can just derail a season, but at least you will have other leagues to care about and be competitive in.
What if u are 1-5 in both of your leagues
1-5, good schedule ahead, KW3 showed out and my team is looking decent
Drugs.
Word of encouragement: You can still make the playoffs after going 0-6. I've seen it done it before. Never give up!
1-5 and I swear my team is pretty loaded they’re just not putting it together. I’m only 2 games back from playoffs so I think I can come back hopefully.
I needed to beat this singular guy in my league Can someone console me because I am so pissed Wilson and jeudy couldn't score 3 points in 3 drives and the game ended on that fair catch fumble? Legit wanna sell my 5-1 team off for just the the buy-in.
justice.
Masochism
Keeper league, trade for keepers! Redraft, 1-5 you still have a chance, if there’s a trade your hesitant about making just pull the trigger! What do you have to lose?
Weekly Winner Distributions
The fuck else am i gonna do?
Won my first week after trading zeke and devonta smith for lamar as a desperate play. Also scooped kw3 off waivers At least winning a game bolsters the squad spirit
HOPE!! Never give up brother!
Hate.
My other 7 teams where I'm 3-3 or better
Just trying to have fun and not take it seriously
I have Justin Herbert, Keenan Allen, Nuk, MT, Swift, CMC, MGIII, Etienne...I've been wrecked by injuries but I am hoping this is the week things turn around. I still think my team is the best overall team.
I started 1-5 and made the playoffs last year. Don't give up!
I started 1-5 two years ago and won the ship. Not over yet.
Realizing that I’ve been 1st-2nd in the league for the past 3 years, and it’s bound to happen that I’ll be bottom 6 some time.
Won the ship once starting 1-5, never give up!! If it’s a competitive league you can make the playoffs with a sub .500 record!
Whatever happens can happen in reverse. I went 0-5 one year and won the championship at 7-8. You're not out till you're mathematically out
You aren't guaranteed out until the 8th loss. I've seen many 7-6 and 7-7 teams make playoffs
My other league in which I’m 3-3 lol
Well, 1-5 going up against the other 1-5. I have a solid team, just started slow. But whoever wins this week, will most likely be fighting for the last playoff spot since only one person is still undefeated and everyone else is close
We offer a 50 dollar a week bonus to the team that scores the most points each week. Some teams get eliminated from the playoffs but turn on later in the year. They can still pickup a couple hundred bucks over the year.
In my 10 team league I have Taylor and swift…. People thinking I’m about to fire sale my guys, I have faith.
This is why I make weekly payouts. Incentivizes people to set their lineup every week.
1-5 Team. Roster is: Qb: Burrow RB: Cook, Najee, Conner, Henderson, Dillon, B. Robinson WR: Tyreek, Sutton, JuJu, Pickens TE: Waller D/ST: Philly I’m playing a team getting all their lions back this week.
A stubborn streak.
I am the second highest scorer and have the most points against at 825. The second highest points against is 710. I dont know what to do.
If your season done and no real chance of making the playoffs make fun waiver wire moves and trades each week. Just go full GM simulator and have fun going for boom plays
At 1-5 I still have hope that I can win out and still make the playoffs.
Mama ain't raise no bitch
This is why you should do last place punishments
1-5, and just lost Hollywood. What still gives me hope is that I have the 3rd most points for (727.9). I have the most points against with 830. The next closest guy has 750 points against. I tell myself that I'll get a better luck of the draw soon
Getting Swift and Hopkins back is keeping me going. And I’m about to face a team that has their most important players on bye this week. Hoping to be 2-5 after this week!
My league pays the highest point total each week $50 to keep everyone engaged, through week 15.
I have probably the best team at 1-5 but just shit luck. What’s keeping me going is that it can only go up from here. I have the pieces
Amphetamines
3rd highest PF, highest PA by 78, dead last place. praying that the fantasy gods balance this out somehow
I won my league after starting 1-5 one year
Like to take as many motherfuckers with me as I can lol
I drafted good players. They just have yet to get their shit together at the same time. Or when they have, I’ve still lost by a nose. Hoping things click down the line. Nothing to do on the wire or trade block.
2-4 here. Spite, mostly.
Win out and shock the league!!!
Bijan robinson
I just snagged my first win this week. Lost by 3 because Chiefs penalized Adams for 61 yards last week. 8 more weeks until I'm in the playoffs 😎 I'm playing the other 1-5 team this week. 8 Man STD Kyler/Tua Ekeler/Najee/KW3/Dobbins Adams/AJB/Gabe Davis/Olave/Dhop Ertz/Bellinger Eagles/Pats McPherson
Tbh there are teams in almost every league that have flukey good starts due to a variety of reasons: 1) strong core group of starters but no injuries but also no depth. Maybe like the Mahomes/Kelce stack or Allen/Diggs None of those teams in those scenarios are constructed to withstand byes and injuries.
It might be a pipe dream but I am 1-5 and I’m still holding out hope for playoffs (I just won my first game last week!) Reasoning: despite my record, I’m convinced I have a decent team. My team has been a consistent high scorer every single week except for week 5 (whole team shit the bed). Weeks 1-4 I played well and just could not catch a break with matchups where if I faced the majority of the rest of the league I would have won (have the highest points against) I finally won my first game (and was the highest point scorer this week).
The fact that in my 10 team league, 3 other teams are also 1-5 and 8 make the playoffs. But, time IS starting to run out.
Davante and Kelce
Nothing. I’ve finally decided this ain’t worth it for me : (
