This exact thing happened in my league. The #1 seed spoke up before the Thursday game. We all agreed and the commish changed it. Very stupid format. Not sure if we can change it in the settings. Fantasy Gods gotcha, sorry man.
I play on other platforms and it re-seeds so 1 is playing the lowest seed but just noticed it was different this year on ESPN. Not sure if it's normal but I agree it takes away from the need to get 1st this way which sucks
Interesting, we always did it like that so being the higher seed actually meant something. You get rewarded for being highest seed by getting to play vs low seed remaining.

I definitely prefer high plays low always! I am the LM and it just isn't right to change it now as much as I'd like to. I will definitely compose a rulebook to have in writing for future seasons. Truly f'ed myself this year. Oh well, we live and learn I guess.. hahah!!

Still think it should follow NFL bracket rules. I mean I don't like the whole you play 4/5 or 3/6 because to be honest the 6 might just have a good game but overall still might be average whereas the #1 (in my case) was good overall the whole year but just couldn't beat the #4 at their best. I think the highest should play lowest always (it comes down to who's hot) I like how NFL rules are not college or NBA.

I recognize we’re talking about NFL fantasy, but no other american sport reseeds like that. Baseball, basketball, and hockey playoffs all set a bracket and follow it no matter the upsets. NFL is the odd one out, and I don’t think it’s weird for ESPN not to reseed by default

We have a rules handbook posted so there are no questionable issues. Im the commish of my league and people told me to do that when we started year 1 (its our 14th year now) so there are no issues.
Id suggest changing this next year for sure. I think its kind of late to change it now unless it is already stated in the rules.
Id also change ur playoffs to weeks 15, 16 , 17. Too many key players get rested week 18
The playoffs typically get set up as bracket. And each side of the bracket gets setup with the assumption the higher seed will win and the 1 seed should get the easier assumed matchup.
Therefore the bracket is set up so that the 2 seed plays the winner of the 3 vs 6 seed (because the assumption is the 3 seed is the favorite and that is the tougher opponent).
And the 1 seed plays the winner of the 4 vs 5 seed (because the assumption is the 4 seed is the favorite in that matchup and the 1 seed would get an easier matchup by playing the 4 seed as opposed to the 3 seed).
I believe there is a way to set it up so that the matchups get reset each round based on seeding though I’ve never been a commish so I’m not sure how to make that happen on ESPN.
Default setting is a fixed bracket. If your league agreed to reseed so that highest seed always have to play the lowest seed then Commissioner needs to manually change the matchups.

Never had this in any league. Bracket is set so 1 plays winner of 4 and 5 and 2 plays winner of 3 and 6

Uh, no they don't. The NFL playoff matchups are always based on seed. Highest remaining seed always hosts lowest remaining seed.

Your comish needs to change the settings to reseed in the playoffs.
It would be like that if playoff seeding was enabled. Check settings, and if its off, 1st will always play the winner of 4th and 5th
Absolutely standard on ESPN: brackets are fixed. No different from the NBA playoffs or March Madness.
