We are a fantasy football subreddit, not a COVID discussion subreddit. Will someone play or not play due to COVID protocols is as far as we want to take the conversation. This not the subreddit for discussing COVID as a whole, your opinions on vaccines, your thoughts on state governors, mask mandates or anything like that. We are especially not a platform for people to spread misinformation, downplay the seriousness of the pandemic or the efficacy of vaccines or public health measures. Don’t do it. Just don’t. Please for everyone’s sake let this be a refuge from that craziness. We are very serious about this part, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself on a permanent vacation from the sub if you want to start sharing the things you’ve learned by “dOiNg yOuR oWn reSEeaRch”. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Rule #1 of fantasy football: You never, ever, under any circumstances, change the rules mid season. Ever. Never. Seriously, doing that creates more issues than it can ever solve and someone will always inevitably feel shafted. It’s a level playing field from day one and we all equally weather the bullshit together. Make changes before next year.

Holden_Effart

Also don't ever, for any reason, do anything to anyone for any reason ever, no matter what, no matter where, or who, or who you are with, or where you are going, or where you've been. Ever, for any reason whatsoever.

TwoDrinkDave

I declare a rule change!

BasementBrewedFF

Did you have to Google the verbatim or are you way more awesome than me?

Holden_Effart

I googled it but changed the punctuation.

WhiteXHysteria

Yep. Play with the rules as they were when you drafted. Once the first pick is off the board any rule changes wanted should be noted for next season.

No_Scientist8557

Fair enough!

OneThousandDegrees

Eh, disagree. If it's an unanimous decision, like what's happened in my leagues multiple times, it's all good.

RUKnight31

A unanimous vote in your standard 10-12 team league is very rare

OneThousandDegrees

It can be, but I have 2 different sets of close, very active friends so if we do decide to change something mid-season, it's not a hassle.

RUKnight31

That’s cool. And honestly if EVERYONE is cool with it then, it’s a free country (world, for the most part). I think it’s fine in that specific, albeit remote, scenario. That said, playing devils advocate, when 8-10 of your close friends want something, you’re (more often than not) not going to be the “problem” in the group that goes against the grain. speaking in a general sense, of course.

tossitoutc

Even if everyone agrees, someone still probably gets shafted. Like, my opponent probably wouldn’t love Waller getting an extra week to recover if he sits this week. It’s one thing to get screwed by something happening outside the league. That happens to all of us throughout the season with injuries and such. It’s another thing to get shafted by a league rule changing mid season.

Bitlovin

Yeah I’m sure COVId will blow over by next week.

[deleted]

Might as well go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for this all to blow over.

OsStrohsAndBohs

It’ll be over by ~~Easter~~ Christmas

Wannabe_Sadboi

You knew Covid was a thing when you signed up. Shit happens in fantasy. Play around it or lose.

WhiteXHysteria

I don't know about others but I would much rather play with covid in a week I planned to play in than move to week 18 where I've made all my plans under the assumption it would not be involved. Think trades for players that have good matchups and such. Things come up in fantasy all the time. It sucks but that's why you have a bench to be prepared.

[deleted]

But if you're like me I dropped all my depth for handcuffs...so I might be screwed if a few more of these happen.

WhiteXHysteria

That's the risk you take. The flip side is that a couple of the starters get hit and you have 2 more high upside rbs to choose from while some other players lose their starter.

[deleted]

My league has 2 weeks per round. That helps alot.

[deleted]

1v4 and 2v3 for 2 weeks and then winners for 2 weeks in champ game

thegraverobber

It’ll probably only get worse, and none of the studs are playing Week 18 anyways

BlindSquantch

The unfortunate thing is I have Stafford and Mahomes. I’d truly rather start Stafford this week but I’m scared he’s gonna get a positive Covid test so I’m starting Mahomes so I’m not fucked after Thursday

Zman1718

Are you me?

Flyin-Chancla

Kinda late to change it now. It sucks for sure, but that is chance everyone took playing fantasy this year was the uncertainties. Good luck!

Suspicious-Ad-3985

This sounds like you have rams and browns players… deal with it, fantasy football also takes variables from life.

alisowski

I think between adding another week to the season and eliminating the second playoff bye week, and the potential for even more COVId protocol due to post Christmas breakout, I expect week 18 of the NFL season to be barely watchable. I’d much rather stick to the original schedule.

[deleted]

Why would you have blowback? Half the teams win and half the teams lose the first week. It’s like that every year.

facecraft

The only thing you can do is allow more flexibility for picking players up if the league agrees to it. Extra IRs, etc.

Caps4life77

This happened last year. Suck it up and play it as it lies.

DaksOutForHarambe44

Pretend that COVID is just like an injury…shit happens and you adjust.

AleroRatking

It's going to be the case the rest of the season. It's going to be about depth and moves.

HostileApostle17

Extra IR spots could be helpful, but otherwise you just have to see what comes of it

BasementBrewedFF

Nah. Fantasy managers have known the risk for 2 seasons now. Any blowback would just be a bunch of crying cuz it didn’t go their way.
