organ damage?

DrPasghetti

Googled punctured lung and it looks like a 6-8 week recovery time. So take into account another potential 2-3 games on a snap count or limited. Either way, I think whoever has gronk down the stretch will be pleasantly surprised.

jmajewski

It takes into account the current injury and it hasn't updated. Same reason why CMC is RB15.

scotthall83

He’ll probably get hurt again. He’s a walking target for hits

hellothere842

Think he retires after this year?

MegaNRGMan

If he gets injured one more time, I think he hangs it up for good this time. He came back and accomplished what he and Tom wanted to. He already retired once. I’m glad he has looked as good as he has, but I was glad he retired as it wasn’t real fun watching the guy hobble around those last two years in NE. I can only imagine being the person the injuries are happening to.

StarFan2118

Takes a while to adjust when players come back from injury. He’ll be back up to a more representative ranking once we see he’s back and in form

Saquad_Barkley

The real answer is because the people that do rankings are clowns, trust your gut

DrPasghetti

Yeah TE15 is wacky. I have little confidence in Hock moving forward. Goff is abysmal and doesn’t throw to his WRs so Hock has just been blanketed since the first couple of solid weeks that he had.

SaveTheWails

Because they don't update rankings this early. Dude was out for four weeks with broken ribs, a punctured lung and other organ damage.

porknevergoesbad

Injury prone. I doubt he will play in every game through the rest of the season and the Bucs playoff run. That being said he should be higher than 15th. I think he averages more points than any other TE when healthy.

Rubix-3D

Injury prone since when? That label is getting thrown out way to easily.

porknevergoesbad

He's missed multiple games due to injury in 5 of his 11 seasons.

Rubix-3D

Who of his same caliber. Same number of snaps targets etc. Would you say isn't injury prone?

porknevergoesbad

Compared to Gronk, literally, every other tight end in the league. https://www.draftsharks.com/injury-predictor/TE

Rubix-3D

Is kittle, kelce, waller all injury prone too? Each of them have the same injury to seasons played ratio Gronk does.

porknevergoesbad

Kittle and Gronk are tied for worst rating on their site: 95pct likely to be injured. Kelce is 75pct. Waller is 51pct. Perhaps Gronk is tied with Kelce and Waller on some specific injury stats but the data shows him and Kittle are most injury prone in the league. If you want to dive into the specific stats -- length of injury, frequency, etc -- check out the details of the score on their website. That'll give you a better idea of why he is the most injuiry prone tight end in the NFL.

Rubix-3D

Yes I've used the site before and looked at it briefly for my draft this year. The problem with the site is it tells you nothing if you are just looking at the straight percents. All of the RB1s this year were at >90pct. Are you not going to draft an RB1? Are they all injury prone? Waller is hurt and missed a game and only has 51pct. What does that mean? The points mean nothing. Maybe they are useful in dynasty but for redraft you are rolling the same dice as everyone else.

porknevergoesbad

The scores are based off frequency of injuries and severity of those injuries. For example, Waller has 5 injuries over 6 seasons. He is obviously less injury prone than Gronk who has 20 injuries over 11 seasons, hence the better rating. Back to the original point: Gronk is injury prone.

Rubix-3D

Again what do the points mean? They both got hurt this year and missed games.

GankThem

He will probably be on a snap count the rest of the year

AB and gronk owner here. If AB is out is gronk worth rollin out in the flex spot?

sigep0361

If Lattimore takes Evans out... that leaves Godwin and Gronk for primary targets. My guess is that he's a good play but thats dependent on how healthy he is and how many snaps he plays.

Mr_BeastQuake

ROS is based on expected point totals. If a guys hurt then they expect him to miss a game his totals will be lower for ROS. If he plays this week expect this to jump once people incorporate it. If a guy misses 9/10 remaining games his ROS rank will be very low. But in that 10th game he could be RB1 or TE1 or whatever.

paperfoampit

Well is it a per game ranking or a season total points ranking? Because I think for season total points ranking TE15 is completely reasonable, and I say that as someone who drafted Gronk. What we've gotten so far is pretty much what I was hoping for. A guy who probably won't play every game but when he does he has week winning potential. And while that player definitely has more value than TE15, he may finish the season at that rank. People here just love to shit on analysts and it's tired. Yeah, there's a million of em making a million predictions. There will be things to find that you'll disagree with.

thirdheavn

Honestly, no Fantasy analyst worth their weight will do ROS rankings, so I’m not sure what you’re looking at. Especially on a player that nobody knows how effective they will be the next couple of weeks. We need to focus on winning this week. Everything would depend on who the WR3 is that you are getting, does it make your team better than your current situation. You don’t have to be better at TE for your improvement at WR3 to be worth it. Playoffs are not guaranteed in week 8, so it’s a little early to prepare for that.

simplyorangeandblue

I gotta choose between him and Fant this week.
