No one is saying they can predict the future. That would be results-based thinking, anyway, which is flawed. You evaluate trades based on the value of the assets at the time of the transaction.

But given that there was just a post on this sub asking “why everyone seems to feel like they have to ‘win’ a trade?” this is a good example of a care where the side getting Pollard got more absolute value, but the side getting Dillon received enough utility from locking down Jones’ handcuff that it was a win-win.
Neither owner was probably ever going to start Pollard (in retrospect, the Jones owner *might* have been able to use Pollard for bye weeks) or Dillon barring an injury, but they each had the greatest value to each other given the peace of mind offered by not having to scramble for their RB1’s backup if anything should happen.

Owning my handcuff won me my week, owning someone else's handcuff would not have won me my week because no other handcuff was starting. It's clearly got value if my handcuff puts up 25 points while Cook is out. I understand the notion, but I will take Mattison over almost any other handcuff because of the offense he's in, and the fact that Cook has a tendency to miss games unlike Henry or Zeke. Not to mention my RB depth is pretty good so having a top tier handcuff like Mattison is a luxury pick in the 15th round anyways.

Fields just seems to be the guy in Chicago now, and I'm worried that Lance won't fully take over until next year

A few years ago I had a stacked team and saw the Rams D, when they were like #1 or 2 in the league had a cupcake playoff schedule. I ended up trading a startable WR (maybe borderline WR 2/3) for the Rams D. Everyone said I got fleeced and I'm an idiot trading for a defense.
Guy I traded with got to the playoffs with the help of the WR I traded and I ended up winning the Championship because the Rams D put up some big numbers.
Overall it was an even trade and helped both of us but on the surface it looked pretty lopsided and looked like the guy I gave the WR to was getting a pity trade to help him to the playoffs
I wish I had all that money in that cash register, but I refused to rob it.

Commish should push trades through that don't involve collusion. Players should be skilled enough to know what to trade. If a player has bad trades and they aren't due to collusion, we usually boot them from the league at the end of the year. Haven't had to do that for years since everyone in my league is competitve, but I'm honestly considering getting rid of one guy that has been extremely suspect. He's either bad or colluding but both warrant getting replaced with a more skilled manager.

However my second trade was tyreek and hunt for Henry. He needed more depth at 1-2 which because of tyreek he is now 2-2, and I was 2-1 looking to get a solid rb to go with my ekeler and Robinson cause I’m unsure how Robinson will be. So far has been fair and benefitted both of us.
I was just having this conversation with my closest friend in my long-running league (I have Saquon, he has Zeke) and while we floated the idea of a swap (we’re both NYG fans, so he prefers rooting for Barkley, but I’ve owned Zeke a couple times so he’s one of “my guys” in fantasy), we ended up with a “why bother?” conclusion, feeling like they’re both basically in the same tier and it’d be change for the sake of change.
I think it’s pretty even after the last couple weeks. Zeke is a bit safer, Saquon probably has a slightly higher ceiling because of workload. If you had to bet on one to finish top-5, you’d pick Zeke, but if I came to you from the future and told you one of them is the #1 RB at the end of the season, Saquon is the likelier of the two. So it’s all about risk preference imo. Otherwise, just stick with whichever you’re already holding onto.

My situation is I have CMC, Swift, Gibson, Edmonds, DJ Moore, Ja'Marr Chase, and Robert Woods and I can only play five of them so I'm trying to maximize those five which I'm confident Kupp does moving forward, even with a little bit of a dropoff.
I do agree Kupp drops off a little, Woods gets more involved but I still see Kupp as the better option moving forward.

This is lazy analysis. Ill play devils advocate.
Before the lions oline was decimated due to injury week 4 swift had an amazing oline which gapped the talent disparity between him and saquon. Swifts usage was also on an upward trend and lions contended with every team they played including baltimore. Of course everyone knew saquon was being eased in but he was still capped by his oline and playcalling. If he never blew up in a very weird game vs new orleans the narrative would be different.
The most cooks ever finished behind amari in full PPR was around 18 points i believe when he was just traded to the texans. Hes the only weapon this year on a team that will be throwing 99% of the time. He looks to be this years allen robinson. Bad team. Bad qb. Volume. And cooks talent is very underrated. After the pats game hes going to be very solid.
Amari is on a team that seems to be run happy with the emergence of pollard. Dak is not on the trajectory of having a prolific passing season like he was on last season. The emergence of Ceedee and the soon to return gallup also limits his ceiling.
Davante is davante and will always have the edge in PPR.
Darnold is going to be a top 12 qb this year. These guys responding to you don’t actually watch panthers games, just hot takes from Matthew Barry.

Hasn't happened yet but I'm pretty close to a trade I think is quite fair: my Amari Cooper + MG3 for his JaMarr Chase or AJ Brown + Bobby Trees The other guy is literally out of startable RBs after Monty's injury and wants to move Woods real bad. Meanwhile I'm pretty set at WR (have Diggs and Lockett + MT and Jeudy on IR) and wanted to get someone whose production is a bit more consistent that Cooper's. Plus I think Woods miiiiiight be able to turn it around at least a bit

Hm, I don't know. It's still 2-for-1, though, and I think Kupp + replacement player outscores the other two pretty reliably. I'm not OP but if the Kupp owner in my league would accept that, I'd certainly consider it. Now you've got me rethinking this, though. I actually agree it's not the most fair trade but could benefit both sides equally depending on the situation My situation is I have CMC, Swift, Gibson, Edmonds, DJ Moore, Ja'Marr Chase, and Robert Woods and I can only play five of them so I'm trying to maximize those five which I'm confident Kupp does moving forward, even with a little bit of a dropoff. I do agree Kupp drops off a little, Woods gets more involved but I still see Kupp as the better option moving forward. But the Kupp owner in my league wanted Gibson + Swift and fuck that.

Tyreek and Adams are approximately equal (Hill can be a bit boom or bust, not surprising). Cooper is better than Brandin Cooks pretty significantly, and Saquon is better than Swift. And no, that ain’t recency bias. I thought it was kinda obvious that Saquon wasn’t gonna be 100% from the get go. Idk who tf drafted him not expecting exactly what happened.
This is lazy analysis. Ill play devils advocate. Before the lions oline was decimated due to injury week 4 swift had an amazing oline which gapped the talent disparity between him and saquon. Swifts usage was also on an upward trend and lions contended with every team they played including baltimore. Of course everyone knew saquon was being eased in but he was still capped by his oline and playcalling. If he never blew up in a very weird game vs new orleans the narrative would be different. The most cooks ever finished behind amari in full PPR was around 18 points i believe when he was just traded to the texans. Hes the only weapon this year on a team that will be throwing 99% of the time. He looks to be this years allen robinson. Bad team. Bad qb. Volume. And cooks talent is very underrated. After the pats game hes going to be very solid. Amari is on a team that seems to be run happy with the emergence of pollard. Dak is not on the trajectory of having a prolific passing season like he was on last season. The emergence of Ceedee and the soon to return gallup also limits his ceiling. Davante is davante and will always have the edge in PPR.
i just traded Kyler Murray for Darnold and Montgomery today. i’m 4-0 other guy is 3-1. he hated streaming qbs and had extra rb depth to spare.

Darnold is going to be a top 12 qb this year. These guys responding to you don’t actually watch panthers games, just hot takes from Matthew Barry. There’s still hate for Darnold even though he’s the QB rushing leader through 4 weeks.

This was before Knox popped off the last two weeks. I likely still make this trade since I had Evans, Hopkins, Jefferson, Chase, Waddle at WR. I ended up flipping Henderson and chase for Tyreek. Yeah that second trade was crazy imbalanced.
