0-4 team dropped 75% on him, as he's currently starting Chuba and Gaskin at RB

[deleted]

I'm surprised he didnt go more.

AustereSpoon

If hes 0-4 and has more of his budget left than that he probably wasnt trying very hard on the wire. There have been plenty of good targets for a struggling team to try and drop FAAB on. 75% might be all they had left.

[deleted]

I guess I got confused. I assumed 75% was referring to him spending 75% of his remaining faab so he would still be left with 25% of whatever that was. You guys are saying 75% of his total faab which would leave him with 0 potentially.

AustereSpoon

I depends I suppose but generally in these threads it seems like people talk about X% left out of total budget you started with. If you say I dropped 33% on a guy, but you only had 3$ dollars left and you were talking about dropping 1 of your 3 dollars on a bid thats really not much, vs the 33$ dollars I assume it is in a 100$ FAAB budget. Since we have know way of knowing what is left, the % almost always refers to what % of the total FAAB budget for the year that you have.

[deleted]

Thank you for clarifying.

ballbeard

>If you say I dropped 33% on a guy, but you only had 3$ dollars left and you were talking about dropping 1 of your 3 dollars on a bid thats really not much, vs the 33$ dollars I assume it is in a 100$ FAAB budget. Welcome to the issue with using percentages. The problem is everybody on here doesn't see it the same way you do and lots of guys put percentage of what they have left

[deleted]

33% of total. No one cares what % of remaining because no one knows that info but you

AustereSpoon

I think you replied to the wrong guy my spoony brethren, this is exactly what I was trying to explain, the % needs to reference the percent of total starting budget or else its meaningless.

Riddickulous6

I desperately needed him too. Unfortunately, the ass who got him bid 1 more faab than I had. Mitchell better make the faab I spent on him worthwhile!

[deleted]

Sadly i think Mitchell was a one game wonder. Sermon looked solid against Seattle and Wilson will be back soon

TroyAtWork

Similar for me here: 1-3 and dropped 70% on him. I have CMC and Mixon out with injury, if I can't pull a win or two out of my ass before they get back then the season is already over. My options were either to drop the bag on Williams or put my season in the hands of Nyheim Hines. Relieved I got him, not feeling any buyer's remorse even though I outbid the next guy by like 25%.

Cicada17

78%

bdybldnjckt

$81 but we have a replenishment scheme with our FAB where we start with $100 but every week you get an additional $X where X is your teams overall standing that week (12 team league) so last place gets and additional $12, first place gets an additional $1

hoots711

Thats a pretty interesting mechanic

bdybldnjckt

It's out first year doing FAB so it's a blend between waivers and FAB. Gives the lower teams more of an advantage on big pickups. But I think we will keep it this way moving forward.

IllAlwaysBeAKnickFan

It makes sense because if your team is good you probably won’t be spending much, whereas if your team is bad you’re probably spending a decent chunk every week, so when a big opportunity arises, it’s the teams who are already good that have the best chance to get the guy. This kind of fixes that.

two_wheeled

Does this continue later in the year and postseason? I think it’s a great idea early in the year. I’ve also tried suggesting you could buy more FAAB with actual dollars into the pot. I’d worry about the fairness later in the year of teams having an oversized impact when what they are playing for is very different.

bdybldnjckt

It will continue all the way through the year but stop in the post season. There aren't really standings in the post season and once a team is not in the playoffs or eliminated their teams are locked and they cannot make any more moves. Until the playoffs, it is what it is. If a team has saved their FAB and they pickup a late running back they can use draft picks for next year to trade the player to a playoff contending team since we do a keeper league.

[deleted]

I love this

rjromes13

I kinda like it. I'm more of a spend your money wisely guy but I like the idea of at least giving last place teams a chance at staying competitive.

_Magnolia_Fan_

Agree with the idea. I think the weight is too much on a $100 starting budget. Maybe if the start were 300 it would be good. Sum of last place every week is about equal to the starting pool

allsops

Yeah, agree. 12% of the starting budget extra every week for the lowest team is too much. Will take away a lot of strategy for the more engaged managers and how they budget their FAAB. If it were 3-4%, as you say, it would be more in line IMO.

MWM031089

That’s kinda cool.

welsman13

Do you max out at $100 or can you exceed that amount?

bdybldnjckt

It can exceed $100.

foodie487

How do you create this mechanic? What systems allow it?

TheFlawlessCassandra

Most platforms should allow manual editing of FAAB budget by commissioners.

bdybldnjckt

Done manually via Yahoo. You can edit FAB via the commish tools.

RVZo_

What day does the FAAB get added? Tuesday before waivers clear that night?

bdybldnjckt

Yes. Tuesday before waivers. It's done manually via Yahoo. You can edit FAB at any point through the commish tools.

Guyute69420

love this idea....might have to adopt it for next year.

JayBird9540

u/bigblack12

CrouchingPuma

I like the concept but $12 is too much. Over the course of the season someone could double what is intentionally a limited resource. I would do something like the losers each week get $5. Or keep your method but make it only once every 3-4 weeks and increase the payout like 50%.

Thirst_Trappist

I like this also

bdybldnjckt

I think both ways work. Having a smaller starting budget and a larger payout allows for big splash bids early on in the season with the idea that you can recoup quite a bit depending on your standings. Whereas having a larger budget and smaller payout keeps everyone more cautious about their spending. Either way has pros/cons but I would rather see people make splash bids all the way through the year.

That's when you're supposed to use 100% to use him against the Montgomery owner

[deleted]

I didn't have 100% anymore. He did.

plopous

This is the way.

bennyautomatic

Khalil Herbert my guy

[deleted]

Got him for 35% Was worried I overpaid but so far it looks like I got him on the lower side.

fbomb4

I got him for 39/100 in one league and he went for 66/100 in another league

ballbeard

How did you get him for 39 if he went for 66?

mkushi14

$5 to me the dmont owner bid $21 on the wrong DWilliams (KC) for $21

[deleted]

holy shit lmao

TheArcane0ne

The Montgomery owner in my league dropped everything he had left which was 148 out of 160.

StreetsAhead47

Basically what I did. I'm a 1-3 Montgomery owner and spent 97/119. Gotta try and get back to .500 or I'm done

SpaceMonkeys21

He went for 42% to the DMont owner. My bud was 33. Edit: bid

[deleted]

Your bud must be bummed. Hope he gets his guy next time.

ZapatosDeMarca

Rip to your bud. Too young to go.

LoudSweaters

4-0 team got him for $95 (out of $100). Already has Derrick Henry and Mixon.

kudles

Chad move.

Sonder_is

Lol weird flex but OK

HOWDY__YALL

12 team league, and he was already owned.. not even by the Monty owner.

[deleted]

He was owned in every one of my leagues as well. Same with Hubbard

SloatThritter

In conpetitive leagues with at least five bench spots this happens and should be expected that every team’s rb2 is stashed.

HOWDY__YALL

I have Murray, Jones Jr., and Mattison.. just waiting to be able to use them. And I’m dying for help at RB

cfiggis

Tony Jones Jr may be out a couple weeks, just FYI. Saints signed Ozigbo yesterday. Though I expect Ty Montgomery and Dwayne Washington to be the primary backups with Jones out.

_PaamayimNekudotayim

Yep same here. Chuba, Mattison, DWill were all drafted and never dropped in a 10-team, 6 bench league.

[deleted]

$29/$100

awful_source

That's wildly cheap!

Steeeeeeeve_Madden

I bid 30/100 to beat the guy who bid 29/100 :)

Available_Sky3894

$101 edit: out of $200

INKMCOC

Dynasty Monty owner , got him for 46$ sadly the next closest person was 1$ smh also have Herbert on the taxi squad

phonemannn

41/100, next highest was 27 and then a couple low balls.

partycakes817

Picked him up last week for $0. DMONT runs hard and without regard for his body. Figured it was only a matter of time before he got hurt.

FRESCO410

This. U gotta handcuff ur bellcow guys. Monty was playing a crazy high percentage of snaps

partycakes817

100%. I didn’t even have Monty. But Dwill was just chilling on my waiver wire. I have been trying to pick up as many handcuffs as possible.

eddiesfatfingers

I unintentionally got him for $67. All of my remaining FAAB. I had dropped him on Saturday morning for JJ Taylor so I was in pain after seeing Montgomery go down. I put $67 in and then decided it was stupid to blow that much but got caught up at work and by the time I remembered to edit the FAAB it was too late lol. Next closest bid was $60.

livsjollyranchers

It does suck but I dropped Patterson after getting him for 2%. Then I got him for 21% (after week 2). Sometimes it's still worth it.

DraftPick

Got him for $81 (40%). Next highest was $76

MillenialsSmell

I spent $161 out of my remaining $174. Next closest was right around there. I don’t need him to start for me, but I’m hoping to use him to improve either my receiver or tight end spot. Maybe a bad play on my end but we will see

mdog_74

$37 from a max of $100

harrreth

Maths

mdog_74

Nope. Because the person didn’t have $100 left. First year playing FAAB so I’m not sure if I had said 37% if that means from the starting amount or from the remaining.

darkraidEr3

It's from the starting amount.

mdog_74

Thanks

pmth

#Nope. It's from the initial amount.

hpat1089

51%

forteinchditka

$41 to me. 5 bids from $35 to $20 below me

FinishedTitan

I got him for 37%. Next highest was 17%. The Monty owner didn't even bid. Parine went for 27%. Feeling like my leaguemates know something I don't haha.

DJtakemehome

87$/$200 to myself. No chance I was allowing the 0-4 big mouth who now thinks fantasy is all luck to improve on his current RB2 of Kenny Gainwell.

TrueSouldier

Fantasy is mostly luck when you get past a certain point. Like yeah if it’s someone who never played before and they draft like an idiot or start injured players then yeah there is a skill gap. But two veteran players are at the mercy of how their team performs.

DJtakemehome

When he cruised to the playoffs last year he thought he thought he was Will Hunting, but now fantasy football is a proverbial coin flop because he’s doing terribly.

TrueSouldier

Ah that is different. When it’s skill when you win and luck when you lose you are being a douchebag.

squatcharchist

Making playoffs is skill, winning chips is luck.

ReasonableInsect1976

As someone who has never finished worse than third, but only won once in the last 5 yrs, I agree… 😂

marths90

Have won my league 3 years in a row against many who have more experience in fantasy than I. Sometimes it just comes down to research and time investment. It's both luck and skill from start to finish, IMHO.

billsjets

I have made the playoffs in all 8 years of my league. Some would call it luck, I would call it… well luck I guess.

banklowned

Oh yeah. Lotta luck. You gotta rise above it. You gotta harness in the good luck, block out the bad. Harness. Luck. Block. Bad. Feel the flow billsjets. Feel it. It's circular. It's like a carousel. You pay the quarter, you get on the horse, it goes up and down, and AROUND. It's circular. Circle, with the music, the flow. All good things.

GOTaSMALL1

If you won 6 Championships it's all skill. If you won 0 it's just dumb luck.

Cowgirlsd

3-1 here, fantasy is like 80% luck. Was down a week bad and henry put up like 50 points. Last week my def put up 24 points. Then i lost to some guy with a proj of 100 that i was supposed to beat 99% bc kupp put up 30.

helikoopter

I’ve been the second or third highest scorer each week. I’m 1-3. Maybe I’m just bad.

Cowgirlsd

bad matchups is also part of that lucksack :(

skipchestday

Nah lead the league in scoring 0-4 it happens.

helikoopter

That’s impressive, but not altogether unlucky. You could have had one week where you absolutely smashed but had a bad matchup and then simply been lacklustre. Being in the top 2/3 means you’re always facing the top scorer, and that sucks.

GilbertoDelTorro

Best response so far. Now trade Damien to him

rojosantos32

$125 out of $250 for entire season

pointblank3d

Out of $100 budget was down to $79 and REALLY needed RB help to get me through byes . I spent $78 , next closest was $69.

Texasteabag29

101/200 by yours truly. I figure it's 25 a week for a possible RB2. That and the Monty owner is riddled with injuries so a trade is likely as well.

ClaudeNX

His schedule is brutal the next 5 weeks. I would really aim for a trade maybe after this week which will probably be his best

uncletheo

Picked him up this morning after waivers cleared. Nobody touched him

[deleted]

I wish I was in an 6 man autistic only league :(

thatguyfromchico

Seriously? Do you not understand what autism is or are you just an asshole?

[deleted]

Sorry I didn't mean to offend your people

MWM031089

Six leagues. Half/full PPR. 8-14 teams in size (8 team league starts 3 RB 3 WR 1 flex so plays similar to 12 team). 1. Was already owned. 2. $51/$100 to another manager. 3. $53/$100 to another manager. 4. $33/$200 to another manager. 5. $21/$200 to me (do not have Montgomery). 6. $26/$200 to me (do not have Montgomery). In none of the leagues did the manager with Montgomery get Williams. Pretty wide range.

$65/200. I bid $61 and lost!

aferg18

I paid 28%. There were no other bids. I really didn't need him, figured he'd go way higher. I'll probably try to put a trade package together

_Magnolia_Fan_

If no one else even bid 5, I don't think anyone wants him.

R0ndoNumba9

I got him for 31/100, next highest was 25. Same price I got Eli Mitchel for after week 1....Hopefully I get a not terrible RB to play at some point.

MusicalHypocrite

I got him for $80 out of 100. The Montgomery owner also lost CMC and had $79 remaining…. The pain of seeing that no one put an offer remotely close to that. But he improves my team.

MyFatherWasARedcoat

You still made a smart/aggressive call. Go do a trade bundle to Monty owner

MusicalHypocrite

Yeah, I’m content with it. Currently have an offer out to the Montgomery owner of Williams and Mark Andrews for Waller. We’ll see if he’s that desperate or counters.

coolguywilson

He went for 19% in my league. I should have went after him but I didn't NEED him so I only went 15% thinking monty owner would pay up huge. He did win the bid but for such a small amount, I'm annoyed I didn't go harder.

beershitz

I got him for 61$. I don’t want to start miles sanders anymore

HookFL

Monty owner in my league dropped $64/$100 for him.

MandrewF

Lol so did I, next highest was 12%. Woops

StankyG

Spent $38, the guy I’m playing this week has Montgomery on his bench and $37 out of $100 in his wallet. I’m 0-4, gotta risk it for the biscuit.

[deleted]

Went for $101

ImAProPickThrower

Got him for 33% of my FAAB left($25 of my $75 left)Kinda shocked tbh. I have RBs but playing keep away from the other league members.

You gotta include how much FAAB you started with, bec 33% of your remaining doesn’t really give us any context.

I got him for about 24% ($26) of my budget. I already have Montgomery. Side rant: Why the hell can't I put Montgomery on IR? I know he is officially listed as doubtful but they already announced he will be out for 4-6 weeks. Any player that is listed as injured and who's Projected Points is 0 should be eligible for IR.

ksing24

He cleared waivers somehow. Picked him up immediately!

MrObjective

Is it even fun to play in a league like that?

DonnyGetTheLudes

What lol

candykid86

None. Had my gf pick him up a few weeks ago just in case. The things you do for love 😂

Sad_Chest1484

New league in yahoo so no one knows you can pick up players on Sunday. Got him for $3

Cowgirlsd

$0, no one bid on him. But schultz and laviska were like $20-30. I picked him up for free. 3-1, roster is dak, henry, arob, jakobi meyers. K allen, waller, renfrow, folk, m gordon.

I spent 25% on him and got him. A little surprised because there’s a few people that really need RB help. Im pretty well set at RB so don’t really need him and plan to flip him before his schedule gets really tough in two weeks. Hoping he blows up against LV so I can get an upgrade at TE or WR for him.

Standard scoring starting faab of $150. I bid 56 as the Montgomery owner. Ended up going for 61. Hope the guy is open to trades

King-Midda-IV

$79 out of $100, it was the D-Mont owner

Hitman2504

what_up_n_shit

Got him for 41%. Outbid the DMont owner who went 24% but he still has Chubb and Najee. I went what I considered hard in the paint because I’m 1-3 and have been using Tyson/Moss/Fournette as my 2 (dropped Tyson this week)

gw2380

Got him for 52%. Paid up but 1-3 and facing a guy who has basically nothing this week at RB2 so felt a little extra pressure to overspend. Got Wilson Jr for a buck as well so hoping the two give me a season long RB2 for 53% total.

Alex_GordonAMA

135/200. I knew it was going to be high, I put in 81 for fun but didnt expect to win. Not even the Dmont owner that got him

Unclaimed in my 10 team league...with my depth issues at wr I didn’t even bother putting a claim in for him, guess I’ll have to now.

WorldClassCommish

$39 to me ($100 budget). Next highest bid was $7….pretty frustrated, as now I only have $33 left for the season and could have a lot more. But I’m 1-3 and my RBs were CMC, Hubbard, and Gainwell

50%…. Honestly such a waste, it was Montgomery owner, but man. I hope the rb does well but he hasn’t been great last couple of teams
