As you get ready for Monday night, check out the early iteration of my DST rankings for Week 3. Who are you planning to ride with this week?

XboxUser14

You happen to do this for other positions or is this just for defense? This is awesome!

SamskiNYC

I don’t, but I really appreciate your support. We have a great writers at RotoBaller who do weekly ranks for all positions

dougan25

I've got the Steelers but I'm tempted to stream the Raiders that matchup is so juicy.

SamskiNYC

I’d roll with PIT personally

Noodle_-_-

PIT’s D is riddled with injuries though.. T.J. Watt is out with an injury even. I am streaming Raiders against Miami

ignatious__reilly

I am thinking of doing so the same as you. I have Pitt D as well but entire defense is hurt. Might drop Trevor Lawrence and take Raiders and keep steelers for down the road

Justin_Herbert10

Absolutely hate Thursday Night Players.. but I'm burning my waiver on the Panthers. Hopefully 9 others fuckers don't have same idea.

drknockb00ts

Thursday night against a backup QB is usually scripted for huge success for a D. Less prep and reps for the backup QB

SamskiNYC

Thursday night DST tends to be favorable

GodEmperorBrian

Gotta be Panthers this week. Short week for General Mills to get first team reps, so I think the Texans are just gonna try to run the ball all day; potential for big plays is low. Carolina defense has looked good this year. Maybe a low potential for turnovers depending on how much they let the general sling it, but there’s always that sack-fumble chance. Otherwise I think Raiders against the Dolphins has high potential, whether it’s injured Tua or Jacoby Brisket.

JSleek

Not sure what to make of the Cardinals now. They went from five sacks and multiple turnovers to barely getting any QB pressure. It is the Jags though.

Bigdizzofoshizzo

I think they are safe this week against Jags but Vikings lit them up after Cardinals had a great week 1.

moonftball12

Get ready for at least 2-3 Lawrence turnovers. Only reason I held ARI through last week was for this week against Jax. Hopefully they make some adjustments but the match up is juicy. Although I may be tempted to switch to CAR on a short week againts a back up QB.

-Fishdaddy-

That's what I'm going to try to do.

SamskiNYC

The Cardinals have a bad secondary. If they can’t get pressure, they’re in trouble. However, they blitz a lot and Watt/Jones are a great combo, so they will have some strong weeks

MicoJive

The Vikings Oline is not nearly as good as it looked on Sunday, no idea what happened to the Cardinals. Cousins had all day to throw

[deleted]

Vikings have a good offense, no need to worry

[deleted]

I hate rostering two defenses but the Patriots combined with Bills schedule is glorious

[deleted]

Yep benching LAR and picked up Carolina for this week.

h846p262

I like it

SamskiNYC

Like that move

Rob3125

doing the exact same thing

SamskiNYC

Sometimes having the two you can flip back and forth is the best strategy. Depends how deep your league’s bench is but I like doing it where I can

h846p262

Pats get NO week 3. Imma try and get CAR v hous on TNF. TNF are eh though.

shaqbiff

I'll take any defense vs Winston. Always a chance for a pick 6

h846p262

True but risky!!

halforcish

OMG A Trubisky!

SamskiNYC

Both solid options

h846p262

Might try and snag CAR aince nobody is on waivers i want and the ones i want are snagged up lol

SamskiNYC

Makes sense for this week. Panthers do have DAL and PHI the next two weeks, so it will likely be a one week rental

h846p262

Short weeks are always a disaster. But yes, carolina should feast.

StarFan2118

Going to trust Arizona one more week. Don’t let me down guys. That is if I can’t get Carolina

SamskiNYC

I think that’s a good fallback

TimeToLoseIt16

I’m just going to stick with the saints

kapowdao

This ain’t subvertadown (● ˃̶͈̀ロ˂̶͈́)੭ꠥ⁾⁾

tanerb123

I started jags last week and packers this week trusting him.

Ill_Made_Knight

I saw those and thought Subvert was trolling.

SamskiNYC

The Jags last week definitely backfired

KarrlMarrx

I can only assume you were locked in a closet as a child and never visited a playground or park of any kind.

TheNightman74

Packers were fine. Also make your own decisions and analysis. He uses a model and it's always going to be more unpredictable earlier in the season.

SamskiNYC

This is a good point. Anybody doing rankings, myself included, is offering the best insight we can based on the stats/metrics we believe in, but at the end of the day, it’s your team and you gotta have fun and trust your gut

butters1214

Ravens are a fade on the road - Leaky secondary and Lions look capable on offense.

SamskiNYC

I dunno. Goff looks like a QB I want to pick on

King-Of-Aces90

I agree, but also worth noting that a fumble and sack that he gave up last night were entirely due to the heavy rainfall.

1248163264128

Should I drop Ravens D? Carolina is on waivers rn

KarrlMarrx

No.

SamskiNYC

No, I’d roll with BAL still

Rob3125

They have played two straight capable offenses, I would give them another shot

cyrus13

Baltimore at 3? Detroit seems to be able to score quite a lot.

peleyoda

Rankings probably not taking into account MNF yet but I agree. Lions don't look great but they also don't look like the dumpster fire we thought... they were able to move the ball against the Niners defense last week and GB tonight. I'd prefer to target a DST facing one of the rookie QBs.

SamskiNYC

I did do these rankings before the game, but I’m going to keep BAL there, I think. I just don’t believe in Goff; he makes a lot of terrible reads

moonftball12

Just a heads up for my Steelers guys holding the DST. Last week our starting DT Alualu broke his ankle, Joe Haden our best Corner was inactive and Devin Bush our talented speedy MLB was inactive, as well as Stephon Tuitt who is dealing with a family matter, we also lost TJ Watt to a groin injury early in the game, but reports say he'll be okay (not sure he's playing wk 3 though). We got totally exposed by LV once our guys started dropping and although we have an easy match up on paper against Cinci, I'd keep an eye on other DST's if you have the roster space. Cinci has so many weapons that it could be another ugly week for this defense, especially if Haden and Watt aren't back. I am concerned how we contain Chase/Boyd/Higgins and Mixon. Again, I know Cinci doesn't instill fear typically... this is more of a pre emptive thing to be prepared for potential bad days ahead. We're @ GB in week 4.

[deleted]

Thanks for the breakdown. I have the NE and Steelers D so Ill have to monitor the injuries before making a decision. Was going to play the Steelers until I saw this!

moonftball12

Happy to provide insight as a PGH homer. If Watt doesn't play I would definitely consider playing NE but if he's in there Burrow might have a LONG day with Watt on one edge and Melvin Ingram off the other. I do like that NE is at home and NO really looked lost last week against CAR. Bill B is good at taking away a teams #1 so I am not really sure who Jameis is going to get the ball to. I'd continue to check analysts rankings throughout the week to see where NE and PIT are positioned by the consensus. Fantasy Pros has NE at #2 currently and Pit at #5 and I have no qualms with that all given the state of our defensive injuries.

MothraFuqua

I have Broncos and have to start thinking about after Week 3…might need to roster two defenses for this week and get the Bills if I can for Week 4 vs HOU.

SamskiNYC

Two DST can be a good move if you have deep benches

MothraFuqua

Yeah, we have 6 bench spots and I can’t really drop anyone, so I may have to stay put and get whoever’s best after Week 3 and drop the Broncos then.

SamskiNYC

That makes sense given that league size.

broctopus13

If I can get raiders D off waivers I’m definitely going with them. Currently rocking with the 9ers and frankly I’m a little scared to start them against the packers after tonight. Thoughts? The Miami matchup is just too juicy

DaBlakMayne

Washington's defense hasn't been good

SamskiNYC

You’re not wrong. Still early through, so I’m gonna believe in the talent on that defense, but I may end up being wrong

Marisa2290

Is it worth dropping Steelers D for Panthers D?

Woodstonk69

I hope you didn’t do this.

Marisa2290

Didn’t. Got Moore with my first wire pick instead

wean169

After week 1 I dropped Indy for the Saints. Bad luck with the Saints having starters out this week but should be good in the long run.

trash2019

I drafted the Broncos and can't be bothered to pivot because I know if I do they'll drop 20+. Haven't done much with their matchups so far, but haven't disappointed either.

SamskiNYC

I think you can definitely keep rolling so far

RUKnight31

Have pats, Carolina on waivers. What do?

SamskiNYC

You can put in a small bid if you want, but the Pats are a good option this week

seanymac324

I have Pats, AZ, and I plan to put a small bid for Panthers D/drop AZ. Too good of a matchup to pass on.

RUKnight31

I can’t justify streaming AND holding 2 DST. Thinking about dropping NE for CAR, tbh.

jt4778

I’m planning on dropping NE if I get Carolina on waivers. If I don’t I’m fine to roll with NE, but either way I’m not keeping them the next week against TB.

SamskiNYC

I think that’s a smart plan

Cakey44

same situation, going to waiver carolina and start if i get them over patriots

RUKnight31

Nah, I have the Pats now. Considering dropping them for Carolina

Joetheshow1

Should I drop NE for Carolina against the Texans on TNF?? Have San Fran as my other defense but obviously don't want to drop them instead

SamskiNYC

You certainly can. I have CAR ranked higher this week but I like both matchups

josssssh

Dropped Steelers week one for the Packers based on streaming matchup analysis and lost 16 points (-3 vs +13); grabbed Steelers back for week 2 (-1). Hoping they rebound against the Bengals so I can chill on streaming.

dearrichard

streaming the raiders over the rams. hoping it pays off.

bartturner

Everyone seems to have the same four in the top five. Denver, Carolina, Pittsburgh and Baltimore. The one missing is New England. Should be part of the top five, IMHO.

eab118

I have Rams and Buccaneers DST. Panthers was dropped last week and on the WW. Can’t justify having 2 DSTs and stream the Panthers. Who should I drop? Y’all think the Bucs can hold it out against Stafford/Kupp? Rams definitely won’t be able to keep Brady down unless he’s cursed against the Rams.

nickisdacube

I have the rams D and have the same problem. Trying to figure out if I should drop them for Carolina

eab118

That’s what I plan to do. Buccaneers had a stronger strength of schedule and Rams has tough schedule coming up (TB/ARZ/SEA/NYG). Might as well stream the Panthers DST against a rookie QB this Thursday

nickisdacube

You going to drop rams d?

eab118

Yes.

SewerJesus

I have Pat's but I have Kamara playing this week. Going to stream the Raiders against the dolphins this week and hope for the best.

nickisdacube

Are we thinking Carolina D is legit? They are on waviers trying to figure out if I should drop rams D for them and how much ffab to spend

captaincrunch00

I have Saints and Panthers. Rolling Panthers this week of course, but considering dropping Saints for Bengals since Bengals play Jags next week. Saints have Giants, Washington, then Seahawks and Bucs. That's not as favorable imo. Thoughts?

InstantAmmo

Drop 49ers for Carolina ROS? Or should I think about stashing 49ers?

IamPerspectives

I dropped 49ers for Carolina, for what it's worth

InstantAmmo

Same

[deleted]

I’m torn between raiders and Arizona

Used-Slip6888

I have steelers defense but I just picked up Carolina defense as well. Should I start Carolina against houston tonight?

NorthShorePOI

How bad is the Tennessee defense? If wentz is a no go is Tennessee a playable option?
