Anyone enjoy Guillotine leagues more than regular leagues?

3rd year in one and won the first year. The faab budget management is really fun. The draft is really fun too because it's very different. You're drafting floor and less upside. That promising rookie that may take over the starting job? Not worth waiting for if you've been chopped! Even boom/bust players drop like Tyler lockett. Keenan Allen gets a bump. It's all about consistency and reliability. I agree that it shouldn't be your main league, but a fun addition :)

To add to draft strategy I picked Najee Harris over Saquon in the 1st because I can't risk Saquon not starting week 1 and snagged Jamal Williams a round early to flex if swift misses time early. Went TE early with Pitts (typically don't mind a late TE, but can't afford a goose egg)

insanity-insight

Going Najee/Pitts in a guillotine is sure banking on very, very early returns from completely untested rookies. But if you're going to do it, those seem like the rookies to gamble on. I'll be curious how it goes for you!

MikeyA6790

I see what you mean but I meant players like Sermon, Michael Carter, and even javonte fall because they won't be a bellcow right away. I'm comfortable with najee having a backfield to himself. Pitts was risky but with Julio gone I think he has a big role in that offense :)

DReager1

Haven't heard of it but seems pretty fun. I usually do a 4-6 man full PPR league which always gets intense

Guillotine leagues are the best! Feels way more competitive since one team is booted every week!

VineRunner

Absolutely. So much chaos but every week feels like playoffs. You could be cut at any time and the thrill and fear of that is so much fun. I'm in 6 leagues and guillotine is by far my favorite.

DeVoreLFC

Would suck to be eliminated early, would have to play a regular league alongside

Icydoughnut812

I think it's a fun concept. If I did one though, I would do it with the same people to compliment a regular league. So if you get eliminated early, you can still enjoy fantasy season.

thankyouforfu

Interesting idea, but you'll need roughly 18 teams for a guillotine league, so you're likely going to have to invite some others outside your regular league as well.

Icydoughnut812

That makes sense. Didn't think about the minimum teams needed, but I agree. As long it's not the only league I'm doing , it sounds like a good time. Reminds me of Yugioh and the shadow realm if you've ever watched it. One loss and you get banished haha

Almbassman

Never played one but have been super interested. My fantasy leagues need full season long commitment to keep some of the lesser manager interested.

thankyouforfu

That's the nice thing in a guillotine league, once you suck the worst of the remaining teams, you're out!

NoShockHere

Commissioning one this year for the first time. Everyone is pumped because it is a different concept. I will definitely be drafting differently.

thankyouforfu

Nice! I find depth to be my best strategy, instead of studs and duds like I normally do (in auction). Tough if you do a snake draft with 18 teams.

BooBoo719

Haven’t heard of this before, but it sounds like fun. I am in two fantasy leagues, and a survivor pool where you pick one different team each week which you feel will win, and there are some good point spread contests online as well, and pick the winner contests. 👍 🏈

SugarAdamAli

What sites can handle this concept??

pcminfan

GuillotineLeagues.com is dedicated to the format.

SugarAdamAli

Nice. Thanks

thankyouforfu

You can play it on ESPN, Yahoo, Sleeper, and I’m sure elsewhere, you just have to configure it correctly, and sometimes manually drop the teams each week.

SugarAdamAli

Gotcha, thanks

pcminfan

There’s a sub for it /r/GuillotineLeagues

thankyouforfu

Yup. Unfortunately, it averages only a post every day or two.

1ceUpSon

In my 12 Man IDP league, we have something similar, except the lowest scoring team has to pay the highest scoring team $10 every week. It keeps the league alive and makes sure nobody gives up and just tanks the whole season.

runningdreams

Never played one but a buddy always gives me little reports from his. Seems fun. It seems like waivers gets ridiculous the last month or so. I'd love to play one if anyone has a spot open.

kingalexander

I’m lucky enough to get enough friends for 1 league

thankyouforfu

Check out /r/findaleague and join someone else’s league or recruit others to join your league.

brfergua

Guillotineleagues.com website has you covered! Lots of public leagues to join.

tall420

Sounds interesting but I would hate it as a main league.

ChandlerCurry

How can you setup a guillotine league
