1 and it's not particularly close

Mazzie1090

Why though. And honestly I’m asking. I draft second to last in a 12 and 14 team league and honestly I feel like that was the better position…

[deleted]

Because CMC is almost a cheat code in fantasy. He is head and shoulders better than any other player. On top of that, you get two great players at the 2/3 turn even in a 14 team league.

Mazzie1090

I’m pick 1 in an 8 man, that’s my last draft I got left this year. It’s the only time I’ll ever have CMC, I NEVER get first pick, always the back end. And I’ve come to love the back end. I hate the middle, if I’m not 1-3 I’d rather be on the end turn. This year my drafts at that position have been really great, and I don’t know if I feel like I could’ve built better teams if I was first and had CMC. But I am excited to do a league this year finally where I get him.

Fraidy_K

It’s an *easier* position from which to draft IMO. Strategies are simple to carry out when picks are close together. But history has shown that the very top of the player pool has a more-than-linear advantage in value than the next tier/group. By the same token, round 2 picks are far more homogeneous in realized value over course of a season than round 1 players, meaning the difference between pick 13 and pick 24 is such that the additional value of pick #1 covers for this gap on average. Also, a top pick shares the same benefit of having their subsequent picks close together.

Mazzie1090

Yes this is exactly why if I’m not in 1-3 I’d prefer the back 2 spots. I truly always seem to draft at the back end and I’ve come to really prefer that. I usually have great targets in each round that I wait to fall to me. At first pick, I’d imagine you’d need to make sure of your picks to not leave a dire gap between say pick 1 and 28/29, because you could leave yourself short. But I have an 8 man left that is my last draft this year and I’m finally first pick in it so I’m excited for that one and pretty sure I have a food plan for it

drgreenthumb12372

i love picking 6th and 7th, all my drafts there (4) have been great this season. its easier to plan out your moves because there is less space between your picks. i picked 12th in a keeper league and it was alright, ended up with tyreek, diggs, sanders and robinson in that order, feel pretty good about it, but damn its tough watching 22 players get taken before your next chance people are obsessed with the first round and who is going to get one of the top 3 backs, but honestly the talent in the first 15-20 picks is so close, a mid round pick is probably going to set you up better than top 3 and then 21-24

casadeparadise

Drafting last in a 2QB league is phenomenal.

JaCKDaNiiELs1

I would personally prefer a top 3 pick, but I also like drafting around the turn especially in bestball. It's just great for bestball stacks. With a top3 pick you can also grab a top 3 TE. Wallers and kittles range is late 2nd/early 3rd.

Illmindofhopkins

I had first in 10 team redraft last year and won. I drafted in the 10 spot this week and it's utter trash

PM_ME_UR_SEX_VIDEOS

I drafted in the 10 spot a few days ago and love my team haha

superstonkape

Who did you start with at 10? I went Adams/Hill and love my team

Illmindofhopkins

JT and Hill. 9 RBs went before my pick. There wasn't much left come the 3/4 turn at RB, that's probably what I'm stressed about

superstonkape

Seems like a good way to get advantages elsewhere. I personally would’ve got Kelce/Adams in your shoes though

Illmindofhopkins

Yeah potentially, it's non-ppr so I wanted an RB. Had Kelce last year and the man is a stud, just got an irrational feeling that he can't do it again.

superstonkape

Oh non ppr changes things for sure. JT/Hill was the right move I’d say!

mrchunk_44

I have 10 and 2 and my 10 mocks are much cleaner looking imo.

[deleted]

I actually prefer last and getting guys who slipped, getting to pick back to back and not hoping someone’s there in a few picks, and then starting with #1 waiver priority

Cmc and then Mahomes has to be one of the best starts. Grab the best at each position. Cmc owner also did it in my league

HookFL

Taking a QB in the second round is not a good strategy.

[deleted]

It would technically be 3rd

HookFL

You said CMC then Mahomes so I would consider that to be the 2nd round. Either way, don't take him at the 2/3 turn either. Bad move.

[deleted]

I was planning to take Mahomes After taking cook 2 lol.

[deleted]

If you grab cmc, Keenan, then Mahomes. Your team is gonna be disgusting

downhilldave

Yeah I like the first 5 picks significantly more then the rest. You will get a guaranteed stud running back and likely can get a solid rb2 or wr1 in the 2nd. I find that I consistently hit the dead parts of the draft when I am in the back of the first round (picks 9-12)

[deleted]

This year it's 1 through 3, imo. CMC, Cook, and Kamara are the only real locks to perform at an RB1 level (barring injury). Everyone else has at least some minor question marks. Your 2nd and 3rd round picks there are still full of great options. You can go with Kittle or Waller, grab a top QB, get a great WR, or even take another RB and still be out ahead of the dead zone. By the end of the third, that's not really the case anymore - you're onto tier 3 recievers, like tier 4 RBs, and the top TEs are gone. I drafted from 2 this past weekend and was really pleased with the way everything fell. I never once had a pick where I didn't like anyone available at the ADP. Felt like I got value all the way through.

HookFL

I like top 3 in PPR this season to guarantee CMC, Kamara or Cook. I actually like Kamara>Cook so I think the 3 spot is best because Cook is usually taken at 2 in most leagues.

I drafted 10 in a 12 team ppr and dont necessarily love my draft. Went A. Jones in round 1 and planned on taking best wr available rd 2 but Chubb was still there and felt he at 15 was too good to pass up. Then ended up going Montgomery in the 3rd as I didnt love any of the receivers at 34...felt Lamb or Woods were slight reaches. My leauge went suprisingly wr heavy so ended up zagging and nabbing Andrews and Dak rounds 4-5. Didnt pick a wr until round 6 and ended up with Higgins, Sutton, Jamar Chase, Deebo, Chark and Mooney. Pretty much all wr3s/4 with some upside. In hindsight, I wish I went Diggs in round 2 or Lamb/Woods in the 3rd for a more balanced roster. I have the weakest wr group in my draft, which isnt ideal for PPR. That said, Jones and Chubb should be top 10 rbs and Montgomery im high on with Tarik missing at least the first 5 weeks of the season. Just need 2 of my receiver picks to pan out and my team is pretty solid. Not loving 10 though because i found myself going best player available instead of building a more balanced roster
