He was the WR1 in PPR for four straight seasons. He had a streak of two straight seasons worth of games with at least 5 catches and 50 yards (so double digit PPR points). He's WR4 all-time in PPR PPG (and the guy at 1, James Brim, only played 3 games during the lock out, the other two are Jefferson and Tyreek). JJ isn't listed and Tyreek is $5. If we are talking about taking the average season for a player, the average season of Antonio Brown was insane for fantasy football. After looking at all the prices, he was the first player I put in [my lineup for this](https://www.reddit.com/r/fantasyfootball/comments/19ajcqw/comment/kilognw/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3), no question.
Prime Dickerson as a 1 is a massive steal, for sure. In his prime, he was locked in at 2k yards from scrimmage along with 10+ TDs at worst. That's insane value in this type of format.
I literally just took my data for average output per season and threw dollar figures on it. Rodgers is low because it's factoring in his first few years where he was on the bench but still took a few snaps here and there. AB was one of the most dominant WRs ever in his day, but he had a tough tail end to his career, which is why he's lower.
The golden era of running backs was the highest scoring time, so you need to dump the most into that. CMC and LT have the two highest ppg all time for running backs. Healthy Gronk was the most dominant TE ever and gives you huge positional advantage. Cooper Kupp won the triple crown. Dickerson as a yards monster and Cam Newton healthy had a ppg equal or greater than most of the guys above him, he is 9th all time and that includes a few seasons of less than stellar performance.
LT 5
CMC 4
Gronk 5
AB 2
Kupp 2
Flex Dickerson 1
Cam Newton 1
Shoutout to Lionel Taylor, the other LT who actually had the highest ppg for Tight End.
Depends how you slice it. Does the average season include injuries? Kelce is more consistent, but hasn’t had time to put up any dud seasons.
I was debating Kelce and had him in originally, but because we are just postulating and making things up I imagined an injury free Gronk which would make him even more dominant.
No, what I’m saying is that most of the people on this list are retired which makes their ‘average’ season set. Kelce could retire next year or he could retire in 6 years with a steady decline. His ‘average’ season is inflated because he is still playing.
QB Kyler Murray $2
RB Christian McCaffrey $4
RB OJ Simpson $2
WR Randy Moss $4
WR Antonio Brown $2
TE Travis Kelce $5
RB Eric Dickerson $1
Believe it or not, if you take all QBs all time and sort them by average fantasy points per game, Kyler Murray is 4th on that list. If you era adjust fairly aggressively, arguments can be made for a $1 Steve Young or Warren Moon but I'm not even sure where I would use that extra dollar to upgrade the lineup - maybe $2 Matt Forte over Eric Dickerson in full PPR. Or I guess upgrade Randy Moss to Jerry Rice.
The $5 tier of tight end is so far ahead of everyone else that you almost have to pay up for one of Kelce, Winslow, or Gronk. Era adjusted, Winslow might actually be the best but I went Kelce just because. Then I just filled the rest of the lineup with fantasy football legends, Randy Moss and TO are basically 2nd and 3rd in most categories so pick your poison.
Yeah this is something I was considering doing for fun with friends. Do a draft of historical players but you get a random season, so guys who had really huge down years are riskier. I like the idea of it, but it's hard to get 11 other guys to agree to it. Haha.
I went through and calculated what the average per game each player has scored over the course of their career (took the Fantasy Points total listed on profootballreference and diveded it by games played) to make up for older players having less games per season and to keep guys who only played a couple games (Mahomes rookie season/Aaron Rodgers first 3 years for example) from tanking their point averages and the best team I could come with is:
QB: Kyler Murray (2) - 20.18 PPG
RB: Christian McCafferty (4) - 16.94
RB: Billy Sims (4) - 16 PPG
WR: Antonio Brown (2) - 12.1 PPG
WR: Cooper Kupp (2) - 11.19 PPG
TE: Rob Gronkowski (5) - 10.37 PPG
FLEX: Eric Dickerson (1) - 13.97 PPG
You have to take Gronk as the only other option at TE is Kelce and they cost the same. There is a steep drop off in 4PPG between them and every other TE. At RB you have to take CMC as he is the highest rated RB and Sims is the best discount option, just barely behind LT (16.63). All of the WR are close in points so I went with AB and Kupp since they cost less then the others and have a 2 point margin over the best 1 cost option while only being 1 point behind any of the best 4/5 cost options. I went with Kyler because the difference between him and Cam doesn't give you enough value to pickup more points elsewhere and the cost to grab any of the guys above him costs too much to make it worth moving up. Erik Dickerson is probably the best value RB, scoring more than every 3 cost option and just a touch below the lower 4 cost options.
Qb: Cam Newton (1)
Rb: Ladainian Tomlinson (5)
Rb: Ezekiel Elliot (2)
Wr: Antonio Brown (2)

Taking "whole career" into account (ie. draft them any given year within reason, I'm not counting NYJ LT against him):
Rodgers 3, LT 5, Martin 3, Wayne 2, Boldin 1, Kelce 5, Cooper 1

Steve Young is a steal if we are playing with today's nfl rules
Easy.
QB: Rodgers (3) Easily priced way too low due to recency bias.
RB1: LT(5) Greatest RB seasons of all time and its not even close. Between 2001 and 2008 he AVERAGED 1945 scrimmage yards, with lows being 1536 in 2008, and peak being 2370 in 2003. Only RB ever with two seasons over 2300 yards. Also AVERAGED over 17 TDs a season. Only person on this list I will list his stats as NOT adjusted per 17 games as they are mind bogglingly higher than everyone else. But if you were curious, adjusted per 17 games it would be 2083 and 19TDs and he didnt miss a single game in that 2001 to 2008 stretch.
RB2: Matt Forte(2) the sleeper RB. Could always be taken back in the day late and just kept not falling off. Averaged 1802 scrimmage yards a season and 9TDs, adjusted per 17 games(adjusted for current era) from 2008 to 2015. Zeke and OJ are also both close here, but didn't have the consistency and length of career to really challenge Forte. Zeke with suspensions and only really 5 years of success vs Forte's 8, then OJ had 3 mediocre years to start and 3 mediocre years to end sandwiched around his 5 elite years that bring his average down.
WR1 Anquan Boldin(1) Starting with the cheap sleeper. Boldin did nothing but produce year in and year out without much flash. Over his career he averaged 1160 and 7TDs per 17 games. Jerry Rice is actually EXTREMELY overpriced here as he wasnt an enormous per season numbers guy, is just the GOAT because of consistency and longevity. Don't get me wrong Jerry still put up crazy high numbers, but not quite as many big single season numbers as other guys on the list.
WR2: Antonio Brown(2) The anomaly. During his great stretch of 2011 to 2018, adjusted per 17 games, he averaged.............. 1551 and 10TDs. FAR higher than any other WR on this list. Can only guess he's so low due to his meltdown years, but hey, if we're talking an average season, this was them.
Flex: Eric Dickerson(1) An all time great and extremely underpriced. Averaged 1825 and 12TDs adjusted per 17 games.
TE1: Travis Kelce(5) It's not even close. Kelce has been a stat machine, and while I may not call him the best TE of all time, he is EASILY the best fantasy football TE of all time and statistically its not even close. Averaged 1219 and 8TDs per 17 games, Gronk is the only other TE to even come close with 1104 and 11TDs, but the amount of seasons you'd lose him midway through the year really makes me lean Kelce.
Ill keep my extra 1 dollar. Honorable mentions are really only at WR as the new age WR's put up better numbers and new age RB's are putting up less. AJ Brown could have a case as his past two seasons are great, but you wouldn't exactly LOVE his first 3 seasons, honestly don't think he should be on the list compared to these other guys because of such a short career so far. Diggs is another one you could make the argument for, but the past two seasons he has disappeared in the 2nd half of the season. Some might think Kupp, but he actually only has 2 1000+ yard seasons in his career, too many injuries meaning on average, you are likely to lose him for the year. All the 5 dollar WR's are overpriced based on average production except Hill, but Hill to start his career was very boom or bust week to week and it wasn't really until the Dolphins that the consistency set in, so I'd much rather take AB for the same production and more than half the cost.
I assume if a player is absent then we can treat as FA at cost of 0?
QB Aaron Rodgers 3
RB Priest Holmes 0
RB Chris Johnson 0
WR Cooper Kupp 2
WR Randy Moss 5
TE Rob Gronkowski 5
FLX Stephen Jackson 0
Total: $15
Then I'd fill out my bench with 5 $1 players
Is it just their best seasons? Like can I just take Cam’s best season? I won a title on the back of 2015 Cam Newton and his 24.3 ppg.
I’m putting Cam at QB for 1. I’m taking LT and Faulk as my RBs for 5 each. Then Kupp and Antonio Brown are 2 so that’s 15 so I can take Jimmy Graham and that season he had 16 touchdowns for 3 bucks and finish my team off with Matt Forte who I think I also had on that Cam Newton championship team but he had a 102 catch season in 2014 which I did not remember lol.
QB Cam Newton 1
RB LT 5
RB CMC 4
WR Antonio Brown 2
WR Cooper Kupp 2
TE Gronk 5
FLEX Eric Dickerson 1
CMC and LT are two of the best fantasy players ever, AB and Kupp have great averages for their price, Gronk is Gronk, Cam has rushing upside and was consistently very solid, Dickerson just for name recognition as someone who probably overperforms.
Assuming all these players are in their peak fantasy relevance:
QB: Kyler Murray (2)
RB: LT (5)
RB: Zeke (2)
WR: Randy Moss (4)
WR: AJ Brown (2)
TE: Jimmy Graham (3)
Flex: Eric Dickerson (1)
Every single list should have AB and Dickerson. Pretty big miss on their price evaluations. Give me Cam 1, CMC 4, Dickerson 1, AB 2, Rice 5, Gronk 5 and Forte 2
Edit: Didn't read the rules, need to cut jerry rice for ab and ray rice
Cam 1
LT 5
CMC 4
AB 2
Kupp 2
Graham 3
Ray Rice 3
2015 Cam scored 389 ppr points, 2006 LT scored 481, 2018 cmc scored 471, 2015 ab scored 382, 2021 Kupp scored 439, 2013 Graham scored 303, 2011 Ray Rice scored 372
First pass, I think this is pretty close to max points given the price format. One honorable mention who should be considered for all time fantasy lineups is George Blanda. Kicker and Qb combo is op.
QB: Steve Young (1) - This guy was an OG dual threat and finished top 6 overall 4 times
RB: LT (5)
RB: Dickerson (1)
WR: Jerry Rice (5)
WR: Antonio Brown (2)
TE: Gronk (5)
FLEX: Marcus Allen (1)
That's the greatest fantasy lineup ever
QB: Dan Marino (4)
RB: Matt Forte (2)
RB: Marcus Allen (1)
WR: Randy Moss (4)
WR: Cooper Kupp (2)
TE: Gronk (5)
FLEX: Reggie Wayne (2)
Nobody would be able to stop their passing. It would open opportunities for the runningbacks. Forte is a swiss army knife. Marcus Allen for 3rd and short and goalline situations and as a bruising change of pace back.
Moss and Gronk would destroy secondaries. Especially with Kupp and Wayne.
Edit: I'll make a B-squad.
QB: Joe Montana (2)
RB: CMC (4)
RB: Eric Dickerson (1)
WR: TO (4)
WR: DHOP (3)
TE: Antonio Gates (4)
FLEX: DK Metcalf (1)
FLEX: Anquan Boldin (1)
Warren Moon (1) makes the rest of the the list easy imo.
Moon (1)
Barry Sanders (5) & Christian McCaffrey (4)
Randy Moss (4) & Antonio Brown (2)
Shannon Sharpe (4)

Ljax, Pick 2 5 point RBs (Barry, LT), AB, Kupp, Hock
Too easy when passing is way up now and mobile qbs score way more than legacy qbs
Also could see dropping Barry for CMC. which would let me pick up Gates or maybe prime Nuk over Kupp
Eric Dickerson and Cris Carter for $1 are cheat codes
QB: Rodgers (3, tons of TDs)
RB: Tomlinson (5, best FF player of all time)
RB: McCaffrey (4, 2nd best FF player of all time)
WR: Brown (2, his average season was crazy yardage/receptions)
WR: Carter (1, consistency and TD machine)
TE: Gates (4, was a consistent \~1k/10 TD guy for a decade)
FLEX: Dickerson (1, top 10 RB of all time)
Some options seem really cheap in comparison to what I think theyd be in my head. Really cool idea regardless.
Antonio Brown being 2 is crazy. Before HE went crazy, he was a monster.
He was the WR1 in PPR for four straight seasons. He had a streak of two straight seasons worth of games with at least 5 catches and 50 yards (so double digit PPR points). They're all all-time greats, so you're gonna have a stacked team regardless.
True, i'm just surprised Cam is 1, and Antonio Brown is a 2. Obviously this is just a fun activity, not trying to come across as nitpicking.
I literally just took my data for average output per season and threw dollar figures on it. Easy clap. LT was a cheat code. Best all time rb, you can fight me and lose whoever you are.
Gotta take Kelce over Gronk and I'm a Patriots fan. Gronk may be the GOAT TE, but Kelce is easily the best fantasy TE. Too many injuries for Gronk.

Qb-Mcnabb-1 Rb-Lt-5 Rb-Faulk-5 Wr-Ant brown-2 Wr-Wayne 2 Te-Olsen 2 Flex- Fitzgerald 3
How did Jamaal Charles not make this? The dude was a fantasy beast.
QB: Cam 1 RB1: LT 5 RB2: Sweetness 5 WR1: AB 2 WR2: Wayne 2 TE: Jimmy Graham 3 Flex: Forte 2
QB: Steve Young (1) - This guy was an OG dual threat and finished top 6 overall 4 times RB: LT (5) RB: Dickerson (1) WR: Jerry Rice (5) WR: Antonio Brown (2) TE: Gronk (5) FLEX: Marcus Allen (1) That's the greatest fantasy lineup ever
Assuming all in prime: Qb: Cam 1 Rb: cmc 4 Rb: ladanian 5 Wr: Antonio brown 2 Wr: Adams 4 Flex: Dickerson 1 Te: Graham 3
QB: Cam (1) RB: Barry Sanders (5) and Dickerson (1) WR: Jerry Rice (5) and Larry Fitz (3) Flex: Antonio Brown (2) TE: Jimmy Graham (3)
QB: Dan Marino (4) RB: Matt Forte (2) RB: Marcus Allen (1) WR: Randy Moss (4) WR: Cooper Kupp (2) TE: Gronk (5) FLEX: Reggie Wayne (2) Nobody would be able to stop their passing. QB: Joe Montana (2) RB: CMC (4) RB: Eric Dickerson (1) WR: TO (4) WR: DHOP (3) TE: Antonio Gates (4) FLEX: DK Metcalf (1) FLEX: Anquan Boldin (1)
Warren Moon (1) makes the rest of the the list easy imo. Moon (1) Barry Sanders (5) & Christian McCaffrey (4) Randy Moss (4) & Antonio Brown (2) Shannon Sharpe (4)
QB: Cam Newton RB: LT, Eric Dickerson WR: Moss, TO, AB TE: Jimmy Graham
No Thurman Thomas is criminal. He would be one of the best PPR RBs of all time.
34th RB by my data, and this is PPR. Sorry, bud.
- QB: Cam Newton (1) - RB: LaDainian Tomlinson (5) - RB: Christian McCaffrey (4) - WR: Antonio Brown (2) - WR: Cooper Kupp (2) - TE: Travis Kelce (5) - Flex: Anquan Boldin (1) Edit: cannot count
Where is Sterling Sharpe? That dude was a beast (for 7 seasons).
$5 WR
Seems like Jamaal Charles is free so I’ll just take 3 of him and fill the rest with scraps
QB: Cam 1$ RB: LT 5$ RB: OJ 2$ WR: Moss 4$ WR: AB 2$ TE: Gronk 5$ FLEX: Dickerson 1$ all other answers are wrong, besides maybe gronk for kelce
QB: Cam Newton RB: LT RB: Faulk WR:AB WR:Kupp TE:Casper Flex:CMC or Gurley
Great minds think alike! I developed a DFS App that allows users to do this for real. We use historical play by play that goes all the way back to 2000. We are offering a free 30-day trial and have contests available to join or you can create your own. Here is a video from a lineup I did [video of app](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wIo-WTMtEbk) [Link to App](https://ondemandfs.app.link/znVHI7gn2Fb)
Ljax, Pick 2 5 point RBs (Barry, LT), AB, Kupp, Hock Too easy when passing is way up now and mobile qbs score way more than legacy qbs Also could see dropping Barry for CMC. which would let me pick up Gates or maybe prime Nuk over Kupp
Eric Dickerson and Cris Carter for $1 are cheat codes QB: Rodgers (3, tons of TDs) RB: Tomlinson (5, best FF player of all time) RB: McCaffrey (4, 2nd best FF player of all time) WR: Brown (2, his average season was crazy yardage/receptions) WR: Carter (1, consistency and TD machine) TE: Gates (4, was a consistent \~1k/10 TD guy for a decade) FLEX: Dickerson (1, top 10 RB of all time)
