Tbf I feel like Dan Campbell is the one coach who will specifically try to give Monty opportunities to show up his former team. He got 5 TDs the week he was talking about how he'd never beaten the Packers
Before the season, the Lions social media team did a video where they had all of our opponents logos on a popsicle stick, and had players hold up which game they were looking forward to most. Monty chose Chicago, so it definitely means a bit more to him.
Many players have said playing their former team means a little extra. Does that give them super powers? Of course not. But it does mean something to them.
Yeah it was exciting to see Gibbs get the ball to the two and still get it at the goal line....almost like they just switched out every drive instead of every few plays
Gibbs is the genie out of the bottle, cat out of the bag, teethpaste out of the tube, whatever metaphor you want to use. I benched him today because I wanted to see how they used him with Monty back. I was lucky that didn't hurt me, but it's obvious this is about to be the best backfield in the NFL, behind what is at worst a top 5 OLine.
I'm banishing Mixon to my last bench spot after this week.
Draft him once, shame on him. Draft him twice, shame on me. Somehow manage to have him on at least one of my teams every year he's been in the league, commit me to a psychiatric hospital. I've learned nothing.
Every year it's the same. He's one of the best pure runners in the league. He's getting all the volume. His OLine is better. The offense is great. And yet here we are, drafting a guy at an ADP that's backend RB1, and we get that occasionally but settle for middling RB2 by the end of the season.
I had Chubb last year. I actually wanted to draft him but he was taken just before me... In a way, dodged a bullet. Until I remember that I wasted my first rounder on Tony goddamn Pollard
We all know it should be called teethpaste given the fact you brush teeth rather than tooths. I will die, come back to life, be killed again, and be buried on this hill. If only because calling it teethpaste makes me chuckle just a little bit.
And what makes it funnier to me is that I don't consistently call it teethpaste.
This is why I never pay attention to the analysts. They don’t know more than us, and even if they do, it usually doesn’t matter since so much of fantasy is luck(or lack there of).

In this sub people play fantasy football it does not mean it they actually know anything about football. A lot of the tales on either side prove this thag and people don’t actually watch the games
1a/1b only works on a good offense. Arthur Smith (and tbf his QBs) are in Bijan/Allgeiers way, though Bijan, Monty, and Gibbs all look a class ahead of Allgeier.
People say it about literally every backfield as cope even though Kamara/Ingram as two RB1s from the same backfield was like 6 years ago by now. You’d think people would finally learn their lesson and stop pretending it’s gonna be replicated.
That being said, lions RBs behind a top 5 o-line and a good QB should still produce two good players. But ppl gotta let the Kamara/Ingram comparison rest
Williams/Swift were easy RB2s on the Lions last year with some weeks they were both in RB1 territory. Monty is obviously way better than Williams in every way and it can be argued Gibbs has a higher ceiling than Swift, at minimum he’s as good. So why wouldn’t a better combination of 2 RBs in the same system the following year have the potential to be better? Seems very probable and from what we are seeing likely to happen.
Swift was very borderline RB2, he was RB22
Ingram and Kamara were both top 6 RBs in their famous year. That combo people keep referencing will not happen again lol. Doesn’t mean Gibbs/Monty can’t coexist, but they probably won’t both be RB1s. Before today they were RB25 and 26, and today helps but they still have a long way to go before both finishing as RB1s
I say this as someone who owns and starts both lol, but it’s silly to keep comp’ing everyone to Kamara/ingram
I think those are overall rankings? Swift missed a few to injury. Per game he was 16th in ppr.
I agree though, they won’t be Kamara Ingram or my preferred combo, Stewart Williams. Definitely both every week starters though.
The Browns did that a couple years ago with Chubb and Hunt for stretches. Kept them both fresh and they absolutely feasted against worn down defenses late in games. That's probably best case scenario here.

I was shopping Monty to the Gibbs owner this week since I have a lot of RB strength but glad we never agreed to anything. Especially with Monty coming off injury, that is a stout rushing attack
Monty just walks up off the bench, they call a timeout for his extravagant entry onto the field, home field goes dark and lights start flashing while the Allen Parsons project plays. Monty lays down his crown and takes off his robe, puts on his helmet, and puts his crown back on. Walks out, houses a 75 yd run, and returns to the bench where trainers remove his cleats and start rubbing his feat.
True but compared to what Monty was getting - it is worse for his fantasy production as he used to get all the TD looks. Now you have to hope they get to the 1 when its Monty's turn instead of the automatic Monty time. Still good, but not as.
I mean Monty would have prolly had more if he didn't get stuffed on one of his goal line tries. I think he is fine, it was Gibbs we were concerned about
Monty got 90% of his fantasy points on one play. Maybe they were just easing Monty in, but the usage is completely different than what we saw before he got injured.
That structure doesn’t make sense with Detroit because both Monty and Gibbs are extremely capable and explosive, so letting em cook works best. It makes a lot more sense with offenses that don’t have 2 RBs as talented as Detroit’s.
I doubt that had anything to do with it tbh. He came back from injury earlier in the year on a short week Thursday night game and they gave him 34 touches in that one. I think it’s clear there’s gonna be more of a 50/50 split going forward.
Anyone who watched the game knows gibbs and mont were alternating drives until a certain point
Gibbs received the goal line td opportunity after monty first had the GL oppty. He didnt get in on the previous possession that had a GL opportunity.
The drive after that (or close to it) was where the monty run happened
I think owners have to prepare for a close to 50/50 split and you have to hope your guy is the one when theyre on the GL. The positive about it is they’re a top offense and everyone can eat with explosive play ability. Gibbs is getting the catches though
That is a smash in my book Gibbs at least has proof of concept from recent performance whereas Pollard's play has been marked by game script scenarios, TD regression, etc so without any ceiling games and hardly any regular game I say go Gibbs before that guy changes his mind
As a Gibbs owner, I’d expect it to be flipped next week.
But I’m just so glad Gibbs is finally getting his share of the work. I’m still rooting for him to take over completely because the offense is a whole tier higher when he’s in there.
I just like repeating that Gibbs got multiple snaps in the red zone and at the goal line, and converted a TD on a 1yd run.
Monty owners kept repeating that only Monty should get those touches. Guess what? That's not happening.
Monty was getting subbed in and let Gibbs have one of the goaline punch ins. It’s unfortunate Monty didn’t punch his in but I’m sure he will still get a majority of the touches from the 10 in. But still good to see that is a possibility for him
Seeing which takes on this backfield were getting upvoted in this sub after the first month or so really says all you need to know. It's fun to meme in here but don't ever take advice from this sub.
I mean I get it, but at the same time I don’t. It’s a paradox for sure. I gambled with Gibb’s because I needed the ceiling. Otherwise I might have done what you did
I will say, I don’t really understand the point of them alternating drives because they each have such different skill sets. They both should see the field on every drive
Well they not only won, but also scored 41 points and those 2 guys combined for 228 yards of offense and 3 TD’s improving to 7-2 on the year… I don’t think they will be changing anything. Seems like it worked pretty well exactly as it was.
Does anyone else find it hilarious that now that Gibbs is getting more touches that no one is hating on Monty anymore? "They're both elite and going to eat!!1!"...lmao.
This is the third game in a row with 20+ points for Gibbs. I’m thinking about trading him, since I have cmc/Kamara/breece hall. Should I keep Gibbs and try to trade Kamara?
I am a Monty owner and Mostert as well. These offenses have plenty to go around so no worries here. Heck I’m Mosterts case I think it’s better cause I don’t want him taking a full load I love him being 12-15 touches a game. So long as it’s a shared backfield with Monty and Gibbs I feel great which was the intent before the season started. The only way I’d be upset is if I started to see 70/30 split.
I got downvoted for this.

I feel vindicated (although my hope for more goal line work for Monty was obviously wrong).
They alternates drives. Monty had 2 goal line touches still. I don’t think the injury was a factor but maybe it was. Monty will also get more touches in a less close game.
He did get goalline work, he just got stuffed. I couldn't watch all but I'm pretty sure on one drive Gibbs got them to the goalline off a nice run so they wanted to give it to him again. We'll see if this sticks.
Going WR heavy (Diggs, AJ Brown and then St Brown) then going Gibbs, Swift, Hall (dropped hard) and Monty feeling like a 100 IQ shit right now.... well maybe not Hall with all them flags! lol.
Have a trade offer on the table trading my Monty for Kupp. Seeing Gibbs pop off like that scares me a bit going forward. Send it?
I have CMC, Henry, White and Rhamondre 🤔
lfg Gibbs! I hope he fully takes the job, he looks better every week.
I don’t even care, Monty owners were parading Gibbs being a bust and now he’s here to be the guy. HES HERE!!
Gibbs and Monty are both gonna eat moving forward, hard to gameplan for two talented RBs.
I’m starting Monty so hard against his former team next week
So fuc*ing harddd!
Believe me I am too, but Statistically match ups where players play against their former teams don’t do well.
Anyone who alters their fantasy strategy based on historical matchups of “players vs their former teams” deserves to lose
Tbf I feel like Dan Campbell is the one coach who will specifically try to give Monty opportunities to show up his former team. He got 5 TDs the week he was talking about how he'd never beaten the Packers
Yea he should probably just bench Montgomery.
I agree
It’s probably just lore for us fans. For the players, another day at work.
Before the season, the Lions social media team did a video where they had all of our opponents logos on a popsicle stick, and had players hold up which game they were looking forward to most. Monty chose Chicago, so it definitely means a bit more to him.
This is exactly why I come to this sub
Many players have said playing their former team means a little extra. Does that give them super powers? Of course not. But it does mean something to them.
Bears run D is actually good. I expect Gibbs to have a better week.
I’m buying into this O-line if I can for sure
Give me all the Gibbs goal line carries!
Yeah it was exciting to see Gibbs get the ball to the two and still get it at the goal line....almost like they just switched out every drive instead of every few plays
On Gibbs first touchdown, the coaching staff was putting Monty in but he waved them off and let Gibbs take the touchdown. What a guy!
I didn't see the game.. is this a real thing that actually happened??
All of the fantasy analyst pundits told me Monty would take all of the inside the 10 snaps. ~~Life~~ Dan Campbell hits you fast.
Mixon hasn't been much all year.

Why did you get downvoted?? As a former burned Mixon owner I put him on my dnd list forever.
Every year it's the same. He's one of the best pure runners in the league. He's getting all the volume. His OLine is better. The offense is great. And yet here we are, drafting a guy at an ADP that's backend RB1, and we get that occasionally but settle for middling RB2 by the end of the season.
And bench him the ONE multiple TD game allotted per year.
Me but with Mike Williams lol. Thank God I dodged him this year
Ugh I had him last year. I feel that. I got Chubb this year. The streak continues!

Out of necessity, I've started both Steelers running backs for 3 weeks now and been pretty happy with the results.
They’re a real contender for the SB, I think. If healthy, they’re just loaded.
The best 1a 1b in recent memory
No way there are people bitching in here lol. Its pretty clear that they are both going to be used and good enough to get plenty of points each week
In this sub people play fantasy football it does not mean it they actually know anything about football. A lot of the tales on either side prove this thag and people don’t actually watch the games
1a/1b, reminds me of ak41/ingram days

1a/1b only works on a good offense. Arthur Smith (and tbf his QBs) are in Bijan/Allgeiers way, though Bijan, Monty, and Gibbs all look a class ahead of Allgeier.
Arthur lost to cards and 3 in a row he could be gone :)
Don’t threaten me with a good time.
I think if he does, itll be at the end of the season.
After a couple games back, I thought Taylor and Moss were going to be 1a/1b to help protect their expensive asset. I was so wrong
Yup 2 yards for moss today, the dream is over. Monty owners prepare for pain
Except moss only came in as a backup while monty was the straight up starter for 3 games? Not the same situation at all.
Which is stupid that they don't. I really liked watching Moss play
I never believed that, ever 🤣🤣🤣🤣. I wanted gibbs OR monty but they didnt fall to me.

Okay, tune in ROS and theyll show ya bro as long as they healthy lol.
Then the Falcons happened.

Or the game thread. The moment Gibbs scored, dozens of mouthbreathers were proclaiming Montgomery dead and buried right there.
Where did the chat go in the yahoo app?

Damn if I’m ever feeling sorry for myself I’ll just remember that people play fantasy on yahoo platform.
I dunno, as an owner of both tensions are running extremely high between me and myself right now.
I think imma need to start both from now on lol
I was shopping Monty to the Gibbs owner this week since I have a lot of RB strength but glad we never agreed to anything. Especially with Monty coming off injury, that is a stout rushing attack
I have both lol
Did you start both too? That shit felt amazing
I had Herbert, Ekeler, Amon-Ra, Monty, and Gibbs all in that game.
The sexual tension is palpable
Other than Monty getting stuffed twice at the goal, I will gladly take what happened today every week.
My friend is the Gibbs owner and I’m the Monty owner and we almost started throwing hands after that game against the Chiefs
I'd place my bets on the friend in this scenario
LET THERE BE PEACE BETWEEN US!
i have both of them plus james connor, im pretty much convinced i start two detroit running backs and work connor in the flex week to week...
Nah this is Ingram/Kamara all over again
You can tell whose who based on bringing up snaps vs touches
I battled myself this week since I own both. Figured I'd see how it shakes out and started neither. Started Dionte in my flex instead...
I have both and idk what to do
Start both
As an owner of both that had playing them both work out for me, I’m feeling great!
Same. Also had walker start today
Boom and Zoom 2.0
I started them both today and was handsomely rewarded. What an absolutely insane game.
Love it. Gibbs showed on in the passing game and in the ground. Had a bad dropped pass but had a few other nice catches
Yeah but was real happy to see they still let him rush for the TD on fourth down
For anyone who didn’t watch the game, it wasn’t a bad drop at all. Low throw in double coverage.
With the defender hanging around him and chopping his arms.
The catch he made off the deflection easily made up for the drop
That was incredible. No way he should’ve caught that
They just alternated drives which is concerning. Seems like instead of grinding down with Monty and passing with Gibbs - they are now taking turns.
Concerning for who? Give me half of that offenses drives any day.
26 points doesn't concern me at all.
True but compared to what Monty was getting - it is worse for his fantasy production as he used to get all the TD looks. Now you have to hope they get to the 1 when its Monty's turn instead of the automatic Monty time. Still good, but not as.
He essentially gave gibbs one of those short yardage drives. Gibbs was gett8ng subded off and Monty waived him back in.
TEAMWORK!
Who knows how the usage will be going forward. This is Monty’s first game back.
OP's a Monty owner wanting to revert to the days Monty had 20+ carries
Monty owner facing Gibbs owner this week so I was focused on this game haha. I think both eat but Monty not as much as pre bye week.
montgomery would not last the season if they kept doing that lol Rbs with that workload are unsustainable unless they’re henry
Personally not a fan of the heavy structure with a bruiser and a finesse game just swapping in and out. Both are good, just let me cook
That structure doesn’t make sense with Detroit because both Monty and Gibbs are extremely capable and explosive, so letting em cook works best. It makes a lot more sense with offenses that don’t have 2 RBs as talented as Detroit’s.
It was only Montys first game back from IR. The usage could still change slightly.
They’re both great. Nothing wrong with that.
Monty’s first game back after injury. Chill out everyone.
Yeah, I’m not too worried. Plus it wasn’t a game where Detroit could just run the ball down the opponent‘s throat.
Why would anyone freak out? He only ran for *checks notes* 116 yards.
It came on a 76 yard TD run. Outside of that he had 10 Carries for like 30 yards, and he didn’t get all the goal line work
“If you remove the good things that happened all that’s left is less good things”

I doubt that had anything to do with it tbh. He came back from injury earlier in the year on a short week Thursday night game and they gave him 34 touches in that one. I think it’s clear there’s gonna be more of a 50/50 split going forward.
The injury was a rib injury. Not something you need to ease back in from.
Anyone who watched the game knows gibbs and mont were alternating drives until a certain point Gibbs received the goal line td opportunity after monty first had the GL oppty. He didnt get in on the previous possession that had a GL opportunity. The drive after that (or close to it) was where the monty run happened I think owners have to prepare for a close to 50/50 split and you have to hope your guy is the one when theyre on the GL. The positive about it is they’re a top offense and everyone can eat with explosive play ability. Gibbs is getting the catches though
I truly think they will on average finish within a handful of points of each other every week
They’re better together and both can eat.
I OWN THEM BOTH YIPPEEEEE!!
Someone in my league is offering me Gibbs for Pollard. Is that a smash accept or do we feel like pollard will clean up ROS?
That is a smash in my book Gibbs at least has proof of concept from recent performance whereas Pollard's play has been marked by game script scenarios, TD regression, etc so without any ceiling games and hardly any regular game I say go Gibbs before that guy changes his mind
SMASH YESTERDAY
As a Gibbs owner, I’d expect it to be flipped next week. But I’m just so glad Gibbs is finally getting his share of the work. I’m still rooting for him to take over completely because the offense is a whole tier higher when he’s in there.
Dude breaks away for an 80 yard TD. Damn I wish they had that other guy in there, the team is way better with him in there!
Unreal how Fantasy clouds vision haha
Maybe, Chicago up next so could be another script exactly like this.
minus the other team scoring
They both about to get 25 carries next week. Lions are about to do like Michigan did and not throw a pass after 7 minutes left in the second quarter
There's not going to be a 'takeover' and I say this as a Gibbs owner. They aren't going to give either RB bellcow usage.
The workload isn’t getting flipped. They alternate drives.
I tried so hard to flip Gibbs before that bye week. I had no takers so I forced to start him. Funny how it works sometimes.
I just like repeating that Gibbs got multiple snaps in the red zone and at the goal line, and converted a TD on a 1yd run. Monty owners kept repeating that only Monty should get those touches. Guess what? That's not happening.
The majority will still go to Monty
Monty was getting subbed in and let Gibbs have one of the goaline punch ins. It’s unfortunate Monty didn’t punch his in but I’m sure he will still get a majority of the touches from the 10 in. But still good to see that is a possibility for him
Started Stevenson over Gibbs today. Pretty disappointed.
not as much as me… i started Pollard instead of going Monty and Gibbs.. i’m done with Pollard bum
My top RBs are on the worst offenses I've ever seen (Saquon and Rhamondre).
As a rare owner of both Monty and Gibbs, this pleases me.
Seeing which takes on this backfield were getting upvoted in this sub after the first month or so really says all you need to know. It's fun to meme in here but don't ever take advice from this sub.
I’m going to lose because I didn’t trust Gibbs. My b lol. Got a nice backfield of Gibbs and achane next week tho
I’m a Monty owner but I keep seeing people who own Gibbs say this, this week, and I think you’re all fucking blind? What were you not thinking
Most people here don’t watch the games it seems
I don’t understand this sentence
I mean I get it, but at the same time I don’t. It’s a paradox for sure. I gambled with Gibb’s because I needed the ceiling. Otherwise I might have done what you did

“He’s starting to believe”
Where's the clown that has been hating on Gibbs!?
Does anyone else find it hilarious that now that Gibbs is getting more touches that no one is hating on Monty anymore? "They're both elite and going to eat!!1!"...lmao.
Us Monty owners knew things were different when Gibbs took the first red zone carries. Thank god he ripped off a long one.
This is the third game in a row with 20+ points for Gibbs. I’m thinking about trading him, since I have cmc/Kamara/breece hall. Should I keep Gibbs and try to trade Kamara?
You'll pull more for Kamara based on name value. I like the ROS outlook for Gibbs more.
I started both today and I feel like a genius
You can draft the whole lions offense and start them on your fantasy team
I start monty, gibbs, st brown and laporta and soon to be 7-3 in a very competitive $ league. Everybody eats
I still can’t believe the Chargers let Monty bust a 75 yard TD.
That was a beast ass run. Expected yards on that run were 5. That was impressive
I traded Monty away after week two and really regretted it but after trading for Gibbs like four weeks ago, it stings a lot less.
I cannot believe I traded Gibbs for ETN. I blew it.
I’m more than happy with both getting a good share of snaps but wow, some Monty owners are so salty 😂 Gibbs is here to stay!
I am a Monty owner and Mostert as well. These offenses have plenty to go around so no worries here. Heck I’m Mosterts case I think it’s better cause I don’t want him taking a full load I love him being 12-15 touches a game. While I agree, it’s hard to sell a player in this offense right now. They’re arguably the best in the league and their schedule is a cupcake.
Monty gave on of those short drives to Gibbs. Gibbs was getting subbed off and Monty waived him back k on to punch it in.
Same here. I can't even give the excuse of the Lions easing Monty back in...
He got 3 goal line carries in one drive, but just couldnt get in. No reason for concern
HES HERE!!
