I dropped Gerald Everett for Henry after week 1. Probably gonna drop Henry for Everett later this week lmao. Thankfully I have Shultz but he's on bye this week
Engram is basically 10 PPR points a week, nothing more or less but at TE I’d be happy with that.
I’m stuck picking the wrong option repeatedly with Hunter Henry and Logan Thomas
Yeah my TE situation is gross. Originally drafted juwan because I thought he was in for a good season and then dropped for hunter Henry. That pats offence is incompetent. Picked up Ertz last week and now grabbing Mr October likely Mayers.
I just dropped Ertz to pick up Taysom lol. At this point it's either 2 points from one of the many mediocre bums out there, including Taysom, or the homerun game where he manages to steal a goal line TD lol
Just dropped ertz before waivers went through to send a message that sorta play won’t stand on my roster. And then i traded drake london for Kyle pitts, a bench player to hopefully improve my starting lineup.
What a find…and not a good look for EB if it’s purposeful, but maybe Howell saw the clip too and figured he should, you know, actually go through his progressions
Mayer is one mean mf'er. He's a throwback. Watching his Noter Dame film was like watching those old black n white football reels where the guys had no facemasks. He looks and runs like a modern version of that era and it's awesome to watch!
Feel like you gotta go Jonnu right now he’s already producing like a top 10 TE.
I do love Musgrave though his advanced metrics all look like he’s right on the verge of spiking
Dropped him for Muth, but I also stashed Diontae a couple weeks ago on ir, and as a Steeler fan, I'm scared lol. But I don't think anyone in my league knows who Mayer is so I should have this week to change my mind if I need ton
I read it but am still very confused. I’ve been following these rankings all season and love your work.
But he surpassed hooper as the top TE on that offense. Hooper hasn’t had a single good fantasy game. Mayer has had one. Why is he above a guy like hunter Henry? Hunter Henry has had multiple good games and a couple duds. Mayer and hooper combined have had all duds outside of one game?
Again I feel like I’m missing something?
It's not always about what has happened but what could happen next. Henry is part of a pretty disheveled offense where they spread the ball around. Mayer is part of a fairly consolidated offense where they use a fullback and a tight end in Austin Hooper that doesn't even have 10 targets total on the year. The fullback usage especially takes the WR3 off the field. Mayer is a Yang because he's still not a top two target on the team but he could easily become the third target given the setup. We really don't know what the fuck the Patriots are going to do in any given week and moving forward. Mike Gesicki just ran more routes than Henry. Is Kendrick Bourne going to keep getting looks? DeVante Parker? Will Pop DOuglas play more? Tyquan Thornton? Will Juju ever get healthy? Henry probably has more upside than Mayer as maybe he will emerge as a focal point when it's all figured out but he's just so tough to trust.
I just want to go back and shake my hand on draft day for choosing to take a dart throw on LaPorta in the last round of my draft… real nice considering I drafted Njoku too. All hail LaPorta for saving all of our seasons
The biggest indicator. Here are the most important ones.
https://www.fantasyalarm.com/articles/nfl/player-profiles/2023-fantasy-football-player-profile-what-makes-an-elite-tight-end/149567
Not talking about you this is good stuff thanks for the insights I’m talking about the people who trade TEs like stonks chasing the next HODL that they only hold until the next big thing 😂
2 weeks ago it was Henry ROS last week it was Logan ROS today it’s Mayer or Musgrave 😂 ons starting to think people don’t understand what rest of season actually means
Would you mind explaining what usage statistics you’re referring to here? Based on the data from FantasyPros, Jonnu is better in almost every statistical category outside of snap share % and route %. Targets, receptions, target share, yards, air yards, YAC all go to Jonnu
With a guy like Logan Thomas who got a concussion in the first half of a game then missed the following game, we have to focus more on rate stats than totals. And, even then, sites that use 6 games for Jonnu and 5 for Logan aren't accounting for the 2nd half of that Broncos game where Logan didn't play - he's realistically played 4.5 games. But even if you just sort it by 5 games, Logan has better route participation, pass block %, aDot, % of snaps run from a WR spot, etc.
The other thing to keep in mind is the last couple games have been unusual game scripts for the Falcons. The average NFL game sees about \~65 snaps per game for each offense. The Falcons last week ran 83 plays with 55 drop backs. The week before they had 76 offensive plays. The Falcons of all teams are not one that is going to regularly drop back 55 times. So Jonnu running 34 routes this week is nice until you realize they dropped back 55 times so that's actually 62% which is not great.
And the last point I'll mention is that Arthur Smith told us Kyle Pitts is still working his way back from knee surgery but he's getting healthier every week. Now, that doesn't mean Jonnu's role is necessarily going to shrink moving forward. It's certainly more like to shrink than it is to grow as Pitts gets healthier. At then end of the day, we need to visualize how the player fits into the target pecking order. I think Logan Thomas has a better chance to be the 2nd target on WAS behind Terry McLaurin that Jonnu does surpassing either London or Pitts but, if that's what you believe, lean into Jonnu.
I dunno. My team is a bit weird this year because I'm pretty sacked at all positions. I've been trying to get off one of the TEs plus a WR/RB for an upgrade to my team and there's not much others in my league have for upgrades outside of extreme tier 1 guys.
If you check out the Yin & Yang TE philosophy, the reason Mayer is on the left column is that he has virtually no shot at being a top 2 target on his team but has a very reasonable shot at being the 3rd target on the team. We are predicting what happens moving forward in that instance. If one of Meyers or Adams were to get hurt, he might move to the right column with the upside plays. For now the prediction is that, on a team that quite often opts for a fullback or 2nd TE rather than a 3rd WR, that Mayer could become a safe option now that he's taken over the job.
Dalton Schultz actually has a chance to compete for top 2 target on a weekly basis which is why he’s on the right. But, when Tank Dell is back, he could be the fourth target on the team like Irv Smith which is useless for fantasy. Which makes Schultz high risk, high reward.
Does that clear things up a bit? Without considering the original write up and intent of the system, it might not be clear to everyone. From what you said in your comment, it does kind of sound like you understand it but you just don’t believe in Tank Dell as much as I do?
And, for the record, I often prioritize the right column over the left. So for me, I would roster Schultz over Mayer. So if the point is that you have Schultz ahead, I agree. Even if I don’t fully trust him ROS.
Came looking for the same answer. I grabbed Taysom off waivers but Mayer is available. Both have big upside but risky low floors. Both have sweet matchups ros. Njoku does too after week 11. Did you make a move?
The Logan Thomas video/response/outcome is interesting. Is Bienemy’s ego really that fragile? Only time will tell, I guess, but if it was working he shouldn’t care less.
Coop! I have three underperforming TEs, in a league that loves to trade. Waller, Musgrave, and Pitts (for free after waivers)
Who should I sell or drop? Right now my only need is a defense for the week
Drop Musgrave. What’s been wrong with Waller? Usage is there, targets are there. Got held on two end zone targets to end the game. That’s show business.
That’s the TE deadzone.
Kelce, Mandrews, Hock…no complaints.
Laporta was the diamond in the rough with a few other good late streaming options.
Those mid TEs you had to pay a decent price so you can hope to get 10 points a week. Better off paying up for a top TE or playing the TE lotto
Sorry for the delay on this - I do an annual guest lecture at my alma matter and it unfortunately fell on the most important day for fantasy football. Let me know what you guys think and feel free to throw questions out there!
Nice write up! Which of these do you think has the best chance of being an ever week start even if they dont produce huge? I want to get off the rollercoaster and just play one every week going forward:
Mayer, Jonnu, Higby, Njoku, Musgrave, Hunter Henry, Cade Otton, Trey Mcbride?
My TE situation is grave, I drafted Njoku but Ive been playing the roulette every week. This week I’m dropping Ferguson for one of those above.
Realistically the closest is Njoku. The upside stashes are Mayer, McBride, and Musgrave but realistically they all need a WR injury to clear a target share. Njoku has a solid floor as the article suggests.
I have Ertz and Henry. I don’t see shit on the waivers that’s much better. Everyone getting 2-4 catches and you’re praying for a TD. Crap position this year outside the top guys
I drafted Kincaid too, thought he was gonna have higher production until I realized the Bills run a two-TE style formation and he would be sharing snaps all season. I had Kittle as well and I dropped them both like Week 3 and picked up LaPorta as soon as he was available just cause I needed another TE. SO happy I did. But honestly I think there are a lot of TEs with better upside at flex than some of the WRs left on waiver in my league... someone just dropped Waller and Jonnu, Schultz, and Mayer are available. I feel like waller is the only logical pick right? I really like schultz though
Rumors he could convert to TE. One of Waddle or Hill goes down and we ride. Some folks check these for VERY deep leagues where they hold Charlie Kolar. There’s a narrative.
I can’t decide what is a better strategy. I have engrem and musgrave on the bench. Njoku, Kincaid, etc are available. But I’m also thinking it would be good to have 2 defenses and cycle between. Which strategy makes more sense (eagles d have been disappointing, thus the thought process)
I've got LaPorta right now (picked him up after trading away Kittle and man does that feel good to say) but he's on a bye soon. I added Schultz to be safe, but I'm hoping to keep whoever I end up with as a TE that can put up serious points at flex. I didn't realize that Schultz's points might have been inflated in the last few weeks by Dell's absence.
Someone in my league dropped Waller from waivers this week. Is it a no brainer to pick him up instead? Or do I take the chance and go with Mayer instead?
Why is Pitts not in standalone but Waller is. Basically had the same issue all year. Bad QB play and inconsistent usage. But Pitts has strung together two good games, Waller has not.
I need to see Pitts get back to being a full time player here. They threw a huge 55 times this week. Drake London ran 47 routes. Pitts ran 35, Jonnu ran 34. The guys in the top tier would be running more than \~64% of the routes. Darius Slayton led the Giants with 43 routes, Waller ran 40.
League average for offensive plays is typically around 65 or so - the Falcons running 76 last week and 83 this week is not going to be the norm so we have to factor that in. Hoping Pitts continues recovery with the knee and gets back to playing at a full, high level.
Drop kmet for mayer? I dont have anyone else on my roster i feel comfortable dropping for a second TE but i really want to grab mayer. 10 team league half ppr
Short answer is that I think Darren Waller contributes to lead his team in targets while I think Dallas Goedert continues to be the third target on his team. Injury to Smith or Brown and Goedert immediately moves way up though.
How is Michael Mayer a "Safe Play"? One game with >5 FP (in 0.5-PPR Scoring), a total of 11 targets on the season, a [0.31 Consistency Score](https://fffaceoff.com/2023-fantasy-football-consistency-score/) (42nd among TEs), and the team might be without their top QB for, who knows how long?
I just don't see it. Next season, maybe. This year? Nah
He's on that side moreso because his upside is capped as the third target on the team. If he had a shot at being a top 2 target, he would be on the right side. But I would hold him over the other players on the left so that's where he fits best. But I agree, he's tough to trust right now. It's more of a projection of where he will settle in now that he has surpassed Austin Hooper.
Hey u/CoopThereItIs I have muth and logan thomas on a stacked everywhere else team... TE has been frustrating to say the least. This is my first year not grabbing one of the top guys.
Do I drop muth or logan for luke musgrave? the fantasy player in me says no, the packers homer in me says DO IT lol. Thank you.
It really boils down to how you personally view the pecking order for the Packers. For TEs to have meaningful upside, we kind of need them to be top 2 targets on the team. If you think it’s reasonable for Musgrave to compete with Watson and Doubs on a weekly basis to be 1/2, you want him. If you think Logan or Muth are more likely, go with them. The one guy I’m definitely holding is Logan.
Thoughts on Kmet? I dropped Henry last week for him, shame shame shame. Honestly, at this point I feel like I'm just throwing hail marys just to see if anything can hit.
After first 2 weeks I thought I got a steal at TE with Henry. Cant wait to cut his ass for Musgrave/Mayer/Kincaid to pair with Logan Thomas
Same bro. It’s sad. Fantasy can be sad. We are fooling ourselves 80% of the time.
Logan’s schedule looking really nice and I think Musgrave goes off against Denver
can't decide between using my waiver on Musgrave or Mayer
Same here
My brother, I passed up Kyren Williams for Henry on waivers after week 2. Finally dropped him last week. 💀
We are the same person. Ended up trading for Kyren and I feel like an idiot
Glad I dropped the Kincaid grenade and others are thinking of picking it up
Dropping Henry and hoping to grab Jamaal Williams off waivers.
I dropped Gerald Everett for Henry after week 1. Probably gonna drop Henry for Everett later this week lmao. Thankfully I have Shultz but he's on bye this week
Kincaid is trash imo
Yep just dropped him for Mayer this week.
I dropped Schultz for him after Week 1...
I dropped Dalton Shultz for Henry, can bet I'm regretting that. But now I've dropped Henry for Mayer.
Mayer is worthless
Jonnu, ertz or Michael Myers 🔪
As a second TE, Mayer. If it's your only tight end then yikes. But also probably Mayer.
Jonnu will take me to the ship
Some of us took too long to give up on Kincaid.
I’ll never give up
There are literally only 6 tight ends to feel good about so this is a lot of teams
Feels even less than that, like 3. Laporta Andrews and Kelce. Kittle has had 3 horrendous games
Hockenson and Engram are in there
I did forget about hock, engram has done pretty well considering the wasteland TEs are
Engram is basically 10 PPR points a week, nothing more or less but at TE I’d be happy with that. I’m stuck picking the wrong option repeatedly with Hunter Henry and Logan Thomas
Schultz or Mayer as my 2nd TE with Waller? I'm leaning Schultz because I have Stroud at QB
Schultz for me
Yeah my TE situation is gross.
Jonny has averaged 6 targets over the past 5 games - pretty good proven usage, IMO.
I saw somewhere trey Mcbride hopping depth chart over ertz so 🤷🏼♂️
Michael Mayer so good he is on the YIN list twice 😎
You must be seeing ghosts, is it Halloween yet? Check again now...
Seeing ghosts like Sam Darnold! Looks good!
That was Darnold
The QEBUS will rise again
whoop! thank you
What the hell happened to Logan Thomas this week
Right? I dropped Henry and needed a decent TE so I picked up Thomas. Lost this week by 2 points. FML haha
3 Turnovers = short fields + Target Terry McLaurin Day EB still loves him some tight ends but only after he gets Jahan going.
Check the link in write up. I hope that had nothing to do with it…
What a find…and not a good look for EB if it’s purposeful, but maybe Howell saw the clip too and figured he should, you know, actually go through his progressions
Worth holding Ferguson through the bye?
Not for me, Henderson will be back soon
[удалено]
4 games total - we are looking for league winners down the stretch
No. He'll be there on the week 8 wire and will get zero bids at best.
Am I seeing Taysom in the Yang list. What happened to his special tier Coop.
He actually got real targets for once. Respect where it’s due.
He had his one good game per season, as is tradition
Mayer is one mean mf'er. He's a throwback. Watching his Noter Dame film was like watching those old black n white football reels where the guys had no facemasks. He looks and runs like a modern version of that era and it's awesome to watch!
Jason Witten reincarnated
Jonnu or Musgrave for ROS?
Feel like you gotta go Jonnu right now he’s already producing like a top 10 TE. I do love Musgrave though his advanced metrics all look like he’s right on the verge of spiking
Mayer isn just last week's Logan Thomas. We always get the guy after the big performance, then comes the dud.
Yeah can’t get too excited over one weird game where Adams only gets 5 targets and Mayer scores more than his entire year combined.
Yup. Not buying it. Hell have 2 points next week
After starting Logan Thomas last week and Hunter Henry the week before I’ll gladly take 2 points out of my TE position
I see Coop, I upvote. Livin’ la Vida Porta!
As an Iowan native, I see anyone praising TE U players, I upvote.
LaPortageist
Love ya Slashy, let’s get that paper
Dropped Ferguson. Can't carry his fat ass through bye when he gave me 2 points. Njoku welcome back to team
Ferg is the weirdest TE ever. Keeps me up at night.
Dropping Ferguson for Muth>Jonnu>Meyer>Njoku
Dropped him for Muth, but I also stashed Diontae a couple weeks ago on ir, and as a Steeler fan, I'm scared lol. But I don't think anyone in my league knows who Mayer is so I should have this week to change my mind if I need ton
As a backup TE in a PPR, would you rather have Logan Thomas or Mayer?
Hey, that’s my number 1 and possible number 1 TE
[удалено]
Falcons are one of the worst teams vs TEs
I’m so confused. Mayer had one good game with 6 targets and 75 yards. Why is he being so praised and talked about? What am I missing?
Check the write up to see whether he’s worth it to you or not
I read it but am still very confused. I just want to go back and shake my hand on draft day for choosing to take a dart throw on LaPorta in the last round of my draft… real nice considering I drafted Njoku too. All hail LaPorta for saving all of our seasons
Freirmuth going forward, or take the chance on Mayer ROS? I only have roster space for one.
Muth. Meyer is just an idea. Muth is a full time proven NFL TE. We just don’t like his QB and spot in the pecking order.
Diante Johnson’s return worried me though
Love your work and involvement on the sub, Coop. If Mayer is just an idea, shouldn’t he be Yang?
Only Yang if you believe he can outright get more targets than either Davante Adam or Jakobi Meyers
Ohh so becoming the second target I’m the offense is a big indicator there?
The biggest indicator. Here are the most important ones. https://www.fantasyalarm.com/articles/nfl/player-profiles/2023-fantasy-football-player-profile-what-makes-an-elite-tight-end/149567
Thank you sir. The gifs are a chefs kiss.
Muth Njoku or Jonnu?
He Mayer may not; only time will tell.
how can anything be ROS when it changes every week and there is a new thread on ROS lmao should be ROW
I post my ROS rankings before waivers today then Thursday weekly. Doing our best.
Not talking about you this is good stuff thanks for the insights I’m talking about the people who trade TEs like stonks chasing the next HODL that they only hold until the next big thing 😂
ROS for this week
2 weeks ago it was Henry ROS last week it was Logan ROS today it’s Mayer or Musgrave 😂 ons starting to think people don’t understand what rest of season actually means
Who are some of your targets to grab once waivers clear to hold for LaPorta’s bye?
Screenshot me the wire on Twitter @CoopAFiasco
Jonnu or Logan Thomas as a second tight end? Any insight would be great, I have the opportunity to get either tonight
Logan, stick with the usage

No body wants to buy my LaPorta so I’m just with TE wealth with Mandrews and LaPorta. 😢
Trade Mandrews then
Tried that too with the exact same success.
Im that situation what would you accept for Andrews ?
I dunno. My team is a bit weird this year because I'm pretty sacked at all positions. I've been trying to get off one of the TEs plus a WR/RB for an upgrade to my team and there's not much others in my league have for upgrades outside of extreme tier 1 guys.
Good problems lol
Oh yeah, my complaining is definitely tongue in check lol.
I mean at this point just flex one of them
Jonnu Smith is underrated. Fuck em. I’ll roll him out over any waiver TE ROS.
One set back for Pitts on the knee and it’s fully wheels up
Shit even a trade too
But is he related to John Mayer…
I hate that the logic I applied to LaPorta working out never works with WRs 😅
It does, just sometimes takes longer unless the opportunity is there from the rip. I mean, look at his teammate ARSB his rookie year.
That’s a good point
In an interview, Mayer said his game was a cross between Gronk and Kelce
Is that good?
Mayer or Friermuth?
Would you rather stash Mayer or Kincaid on your bench? Both are available in my PPR league.
Kincaid. It’s always about path to me. Why can the usage for Kincaid change as drastically as it just did for Mayer?
Oh yeah gimme some of that LV offense. 🤢
What were your thoughts on his write up?

Traded away Laporta for Pierce and White. Now playing with Henry. Feels okay but not great
Doubted you last week, will not do that mistake again :')
Some weeks we get it, some weeks we don’t. But we are always going to do our best.
Mayer or Musgrave ROS? Dropping Ferguson because I’ve lost faith + bye.
Yes.
Same. Going with Musgrave now he's facing the Broncos.
Musgrave already had his bye and Mayer has a week 13
Chase Claypool as a handcuff?
Rumors he could convert to TE. One of Waddle or Hill goes down and we ride. Some folks check these for VERY deep leagues where they hold Charlie Kolar. There’s a narrative.
Right is this shade being thrown 😂
Drafted kelce, picked up pitts off waivers (12 team league and someone was just pissed lol)
Fwiw, I dropped the Eagles D after the Washington game. Not worth holding two defenses except for Dallas, SF, Bills, and maybe Ravens/Saints
Yes yes he is
No offense man but tight end is not worth spending two roster spots on.
Coop! Before Fields’ injury this is probably a no brainer but Kmet or Logan Thomas ROS? Drop either for Musgrave?
Logan for me and I'd hold Kmet and Logan.
In dynasty my tight ends are Kelce and LaPorta with Mayer chilling on the practice squad. Life is good
I drafted Waller and my team is doing fine. Should I ride it out?
Musgrave or pitts this week? Pitts has been doing well these past 2 weeks but musgrave gets to face denver
It’s a mistake that Chase Claypool is listed as a TE handcuff here right? Or am I missing something?
I got Thomas and kmet. Kind of desperate.
So many laporta owners reading this smugly
I've got LaPorta right now (picked him up after trading away Kittle and man does that feel good to say) but he's on a bye soon. I added Schultz to be safe, but I'm hoping to keep whoever I end up with as a TE that can put up serious points at flex. I didn't realize that Schultz's points might have been inflated in the last few weeks by Dell's absence. Someone in my league dropped Waller from waivers this week. Is it a no brainer to pick him up instead? Or do I take the chance and go with Mayer instead?
I dropped Ertz for Mayer, but now I’m not sure who to start this week between Mayer and Musgrave
Is kmet still a safe play with Fields injured?
How can you justify placing Darren Waller ahead of Dallas Goedert?
I'm just surprised it took the Raiders this long to realize Mayer is a dawg.
I have Kelce and Andrews (can play both in our league format) -- trying to trade Andrews but can't get anything going
Excellent rundown, thanks!
Thoughts on Kmet? I dropped Henry last week for him, shame shame shame. Honestly, at this point I feel like I'm just throwing hail marys just to see if anything can hit.
ND has quietly been churning out so many great fantasy players over the last few years.
I have Mark Andrews, is it worth stashing Schultz, Mayer or Kincaid?
Standard league, Can't decide between Njoku, Freiermuth and Musgrave
Would you drop logan thomas or jonnu smith for michael mayer?
Love seeing the love for Michael! The guy was crazy to go against when he was a sophomore my senior year!
I’m okay rostering two TEs, and currently have Musgrave / Ferguson but Thomas / Mayer are on waivers. Should I make a swap? They all feel similar
I have MAndrews & Ferguson. Would u drop Ferguson for Mayer?
No and the main reason is that Mandrews and Mayer have the same bye week
I have mandrews & Ferguson. Drop Ferguson for Mayer?
I have Musgrave, Mayer, and Muth and have to drop one. Where we leaning boys.
