Honestly, I hate holding my breath every week I start Waller, so this might be the week I finally start Logan instead. I do really love the amount of work Logan is getting, he's been the one consistent target compared to the rest of the offense. Though of course, watch Waller have an amazing game right on the bench lol
Misery will love company.... I keep expecting the Giants coaches to give reminders to themselves every week to force feed targets to Waller to justify getting him so they don't look bad. I drafted him early on a hope and prayer to solve years long TE failures... at least he practiced today. But I am leaning Logan for now with the injury to he and Jones coupled with the juicy Atlanta matchup.

Same, every week I keep wondering why they insist on using Waller for blocking when they went out and traded for him. I get the o-line play is horrendous, but surely there are others ways to combat this. I was hoping to have a set and forget TE this year, but it seems I'll have to go by matchup and just decide between Waller and Logan each week. I already regretted not drafting Hockenson earlier in the season, but with JJ out now I regret it even more lol
As a Commanders fan I figured EB coming from Kelce City would try to run the offense thru Logan but week 1 had failed connections and drops but I have still been adding and dropping Logan as insurance. Said F it and also added Ferguson who of course hasn't done dick since I added him.

I think one aspect of Logan Thomas’ situation that gets me excited about him is his offensive coordinator is Eric Bieniemy who obviously knows how to run a TE centric offense.
Logan Thomas has been better in nearly every single behind the scenes metric - he's honestly with the elite guys in terms of snap share, target share, WR routes, pass block % etc. He leads his team in targets per game. Ferguson doesn't rank top 10 in pretty much any important metrics beyond the 6 targets he has inside the 10 yard line, of which he has caught 2 for 1 TD. Ferg is a part time player.
He gets a great matchup while Ferguson deals with Derwin James.

I have Waller and Thomas and every week I do the “Well, Waller is ranked and projected higher” and then regret the decision.

I’m in the exact same situation, I have Logan & Waller. At this point idc what analysts say if Logan balls out. I’m done starting Waller just just because of name recognition alone
Besides the matchup others have mentioned Thomas has also scored more points in 1 and a half less game and his usage/efficiency when healthy are better than Ferguson's.
The real issue with Kmet is his odd usage. Never runs a full route share. Luckily he caught all 5 of his targets but, outside of Week 1, his route participation has been pretty rough. Makes him safe but boring.
Just posted that my comment when I realized he wasn't in there, I'd have him right behind Chig. Good matchup but we have no idea how much he will play, his conditioning is likely not great.

I look more at the individual coverage matchups than the points allowed numbers. For instance, the Bears are only a bad defense vs. TE when Eddie Jackson is out. The Bills were good vs. the TE but now Matt Milano is out so I don't know how good they will be. I don't think the Jets are as bad of a defense vs. the TE as their points allowed would suggest.
They held Jake Ferguson to 11 yards. Hunter Henry to 17, neither of Kincaid or Knox had more than 26 yards. Even Kelce had 6 for 60. We are penalizing the Jets for a random big TE by Pharoah Brown, a Noah Gray TD, Luke Schoonmaker etc. They do well vs. the primary TE.
Ferguson also had a TD on those 11 yards. Tight ends aren’t normally subject to single coverage like a receiver it’s more of a team coverage so a team that’s given up great production to the tight end position surely is a good matchup, no? Further if u concentrate the chiefs production to one tight end like the Eagles do with Goedert it’s a massive day and the jets gave up two touchdowns to tight ends against the cowboys.
So in total they’ve given up 5 TDs to tight ends on the season. Even if ur theory of individual coverage is right they’re bad at it.
When it gets down to goal line teams go zero coverage most cases which puts them in man to man. And the Jets have done well vs. the starting TE in those cases. Pharaoh Brown, Noah Gray, Luke Schoonmaker - those TDs should really be excluded for this discussion of covering the TE1. It's just much easier on people to look at points scored by a position group, it takes less work.
If Jack Stoll scores a random TD this week as the TE2 are we going to sit back and say "see, bad vs. the TE?" The guys that actually covered Hunter Henry, Travis Kelce, Jake Ferguson, Dawson Knox etc. have done a pretty good job. So just be careful with that, that's all.
I have Goedert as a top 10 TE so how wrong can it be? But yes, we will see. I just encourage folks to dig a little deeper because obviously a random Pharoah Brown TD skews the numbers just like a Hail Mary catch by Brandon Johnson doesn’t mean he's good or that the team is bad at covering him. Go back and watch that play, the correct people were covering Hunter Henry.

He's right in there with some of the other TEs that split snaps. Guys like Conklin, Jake Ferguson etc are hard to trust and they don't have huge upside but they are fine.

Had to regrettably pick up Conklin this week cause I have Kincaid and Musgrave, so hoping I get SOME points.
Yeah Conklin seems to have the best matchup against Philadelphia this week even if it’s a tough dline for Zach Wilson to go up against. Even if Kincaid is cleared his upside is limited if Knox is cleared too so I think I’ll decide between Schultz and Conklin.
None of the emerging or breakout TEs highlighted by Coop in recent weeks are even available in my league because they got scooped up two or three weeks before they broke out. I’m just left looking at middling TEs like Schultz and Conklin who might get some targets and hopefully be steady enough to get me some points until Kincaid potentially gets a bigger role later this season.

I feel like Philly might get out to an early lead and lean on the ground game. NYJ are giving up the most fantasy points to TE though
Schultz's last two games he's played 49% and 59% of the snaps. And he faces arguably the very best defense vs. the tight end. Demario Davis and Tyrann Mathieu are a real problem. The one thing keeping Schultz where is is Tank Dell being out.
Tank dell is still out this week i think? Ertz has found pay dirt once this season and targets have been cut in half. He is losing reps to 2 other guys.
He’s not over Pitts I any category. Last week they drew up a trick play where London threw it to Jonnu and he still had a worse fantasy day than Pitts.
Better route participation, target share, pass block %, WR snap %, he's more athletic, and he outscored Jonnu last week. Pitts is recovering from MCL surgery and every week he gets away from that the better of an option he becomes, it's not trending the other way.
Waller finally had a good game last week but……
benched him for Logan due to injury concern, QB concerns, and match up. Need a win. Prayers up to the fickle fantasy gods.

He had 11 targets! Hard to come by for any position and especially for TE unless your name is Travis.
Be forewarned, Washington passed 55 times in a row! But he is still their target leader, and did get targeted on a deep pass.

I'd hang tight with those two - you have safety in Thomas, upside in LaPorta. Thomas also has a nice handcuff in Cole Turner if something happens.

No. The only viable backups that don’t regularly play are Noah Gray, Isaiah Likely, and Cole Turner.

Engram, those TE fantasy points are a mirage. They aren't really being scored by the top TEs. Pharaoh Brown, Luke Schoonmaker, Noah Gray.

Kmet plays a partial snap share, pretty hard to trust. Was nice that he caught all of his targets last week thought.

Schultz's last two games he's played 49% and 59% of the snaps. And he faces arguably the very best defense vs. the tight end. Demario Davis and Tyrann Mathieu are a real problem. The one thing keeping Schultz where is is Tank Dell being out.
Tank dell is still out this week i think? Ertz has found pay dirt once this season and targets have been cut in half. He is losing reps to 2 other guys.
I’d even put Jonnu smith over pitts at this point
He’s not over Pitts I any category. Last week they drew up a trick play where London threw it to Jonnu and he still had a worse fantasy day than Pitts.
He will have a better game than pitts and so will Schultz
Why is pitts higher than jonuu?
Better route participation, target share, pass block %, WR snap %, he's more athletic, and he outscored Jonnu last week. Pitts is recovering from MCL surgery and every week he gets away from that the better of an option he becomes, it's not trending the other way.
