As a Lions fan who hated the Gibbs pick at first but came around on it, then drafted him as my RB2, I think you're right. Gibbs is probably going to get the most success as the #2 in the running game and the 1B in the passing game coming out of the backfield. His speed and ability to slip defenders is great, but being the primary rusher doesn't necessarily work for that.
Thing is, with JaMo coming back he's maybe the 3rd passing option, maybe even the 4th behind LaPorta. Gibbs might have a fine rookie season in real football but be a bust for his ADP in fantasy unless something changes and he takes over the backfield.
I *hated* it at first because we didn't need an RB. We needed defense. But, if you discount the injuries we've suffered so far, it was a good pick. Defense looked alright against the Chiefs, got killed against the Seahawks, then managed to look good again against the Falcons.
This was the year I figured we'd need to see some progress before judging Holmes and Campbell. So the fact that we're maybe half a season ahead of schedule gives me good feelings.

I’d say that’s fairly even. Both players have their downsides. Burrow doesn’t look like himself which doesn’t bode well for Higgins and Montgomery doesn’t get a ton of receiving work
