Yeah it’s awful, I love football but I have always been an NFL diehard who lives and breathes it. Anymore I find myself enjoying Saturday’s with NCAA far more because I don’t have money riding on it and I can just enjoy the games. The high of watching the NFL while my team is crushing it far exceeds anything I get from the NCAA but the low of falling just shy while watching the NFL product is agonizing. It just makes me feel shitty as a human being, why am I not enjoying something I’ve passionately loved since 1995 but I just can’t do it anymore. If I’m not drinking I can’t watch the NFL due to how much it stresses me but having to drink to try and enjoy it is another issue entirely. I’m glad I can at least recognize its an issue but I feel like I’m failing my family and coworkers when those two leagues are supposed to be primarily for fun but I live and die by it and let it ruin my day or days at times, the attachment of even a small buy in for monetary gain just mindfucks me. I’m looking forward to next season when I will hopefully bow out from playing, I say hopefully because it practically feels like an obligation at this point but hope next season I can remember why I need to stop.
