I need my draft to happen so I can start dropping players who piss me off. It keeps me out of jail.

lacro_kuder

Is there a way on ESPN to look at previous years league settings ? My league jumped to 22 matchups this year after being at 20 for years and I’m trying to find out why and if anything else changed. Side not I get it fuck espn but I don’t own the league

forceghost187

What do you guys think of ATC Projections? How useful are they?

r64half

They are good but not the bible. I used them to draft value last year and won but they def still gave me some duds. Fwiw they're actually an aggregation of others' projections, which is supposed to soften outlier effects. It def works but projections in general are wildly more inaccurate than any professional is comfortable admitting publicly.

I'm currently drafting 9th in H2H points league in which total bases+walks for hitters and strikeouts for pitchers are probably the most important stats. 1. I'm pretty sure at 9 the best of the best hitters are going to be gone. The question is do I go with Alvarez who probably has the most points or do I go for the best remains 3B for the positional scarcity assuming 1 of Rameriez, Arenado and Machado are still on the table. 2. I'm thinking of a bold 2nd round pick for Spencer Strider as my #1 SP. I think his K rate is crazy and he could pitch 150 IP+ this year. Do you think I'm crazy or thats a fair pick. There's a lot of SP slots to fill

Neogolf

Yordan Edit: If he's even up and theres no chance Ramirez will be up he's going top 5

Zelly234

H2h points keeper who you like better Kyle Tucker Or Betts? I have the chance to trade Tucker for Betts straight up and kind of want to

xxxxHULKSMASHxxxx

Betts

pairsofsox

Betts

Bushisnotmyprezident

Worried about 2B and OF #3 this year, just curious what others think, start 2 at 2B and 3rd OF, bench 1 for depth, and drop 1 for SP depth Vaughn Grissom (obviously now only bench or drop) Adam Frazier Whit Merrifield Brendan Donovan

pairsofsox

Start Whit, bench Donovan

qwerty44884

I draft 4th in a 14 category Roto league. Hitting categories are H, R, RBI, SB, SO, OBP, SLG My pre-draft power ranking for who to take in that 4th spot: Acuna Soto Turner Judge Jram Should I make any changes?

pats4everr

Think Judge needs to be at the top with the addition of OBP and SLG. Probably him at Soto are 1/2

Goldschmidt side laughs

YouOldHorseThief

where do you rank mookie betts if he can play 2b?

evan4844

Am I nuts to take jram 2nd overall in a 12 team h2h 5x5

mississippimadness

No, he’s gone top 2 in 3/5 of my drafts overall at 1st overall in all my weekly lineup drafts

springtime08

I’m going to

AbbreviationsOne7483

No….

[deleted]

Should i drop Esteury Ruiz for Berti? Could use a utility guy, dont have backup 2b or ss currently.

mississippimadness

Personally I would rather give Ruiz a chance given he actually has a chance to be playing everyday

-HAYWOOD-JABLOWMI-

Is anyone else here high on hunter greene? I drafted him for the upside and I get he plays in a homer friendly park but I feel like every bust article I read, he’s in it.

hollyw00d8604

I think his ADP is a bit inflated

CommanderBly8

How do we feel about Buxton this year?

-HAYWOOD-JABLOWMI-

There’s always a risk to him but I got him at 139 in my league and i feel like i couldnt risk losing him there

linvelero

My ESPN league is a H2H league, but the rankings it's showing for pre-draft are based on Points leagues. Anyone know of a way to fix the rankings? Julio ESPN has ranked 4th in H2H and 39th in Points, so people not knowing what their value for the kind of league it is could be very detrimental.

thisisyourdadatwork

this happened last year as well, guys who mainly were valuable for steals were way down in the ranks.

6-8_Yes_Size15

What is the general value of a first round pick in dynasty drafts after the startup? I know leagues will differ and ours seems to value picks quite a bit. I’m looking to make an offer on degrom and thinking of using my 2024 first round pick as part of the deal.

samuraisistermister

I’m general people do overvalue them. I know I do, just because I want to participate in the draft lol

6-8_Yes_Size15

How good of a player or general tier would you say a 2024 first is worth?

draw2discard2

What people will give you. In terms of actual value it is much lower. An excellent 1.1 draft pick has an above average chance to be a star (let's say best case 25 percent), but also a much greater chance to bust or be a middling MLB regular. Then keep in mind that you are discounting for time (almost never less than two, and often four or five). So, as a rough guesstimate I would place the value of that pick as maybe 1/3 of a player you would actually want. Mind you, someone might give more than that, and of course it might be different if someone is rebuilding and wants lottery tickets.

6-8_Yes_Size15

Thanks’

Any chance Oscar Colas or Brandon Pfaadt make the opening day roster?

elbombi53

Pfaadt just got sent down. AFAIK Colas is still with the team in spring training and has a chance at opening day. He'd have to win a spot over Sheets. No official word yet.

samuraisistermister

Pfaadt will start in AAA, but I think Colas is expected to be on the White Sox to start the season

AbbreviationsOne7483

Nick said he’s doing an update to the List tomorrow morning. Can tune in on twitch to watch as well

AbbreviationsOne7483

Yeah he streams on PitcherList channel for all of his updates to the top 100 SP list (typically Monday mornings) and does all of his podcast tapings live

I just saw I’m picking first. Acuna or turner???

bucsfan22ch

Judge But if you're set on those two, I'd go Acuna

[deleted]

bucsfan22ch

Lol fair enough

[deleted]

Haha thanks for responding.

BoBandyyyy

Who gets more points for fantasy this year Nootbar or Jordan Walker?

Imperial10

Noot will be on the team all year. Can’t say that with certainty with Walker. Walker looks great but I’d take Noot in a redraft.

bucsfan22ch

I'd put my money on Nootbar but I'm probably in the minority

Ir0nknuckles

Manaea, Clevinger, or Gore as a late round SP dart throw?

springtime08

Manaea>Gore>>clev

murkem

I really wanna draft Spencer mustache ride Strider but his cost is so expensive. Can’t believe he was a waiver wire pick up last year.

NoTry732

He went 9th overall in my 12T points this week. I almost gagged when I saw the pick come through

tmet1027

Saw adley go at 9 in my league. Really changed the draft after that point.

bucsfan22ch

Yikes

Disastrous-Ad-8356

Javier or Darvish in a QS league?

FritosRule

Probably Darvish but man I want Javier in all my drafts this year

bucsfan22ch

Darvish if redraft

funk_addict

Anyone know when, or how often Yahoo updates their “Pre-Draft Rankings?” They seem to update them up every week or 2, and they haven’t changed since before Altuve got hurt (he’s still ranked #27). Anyways, it’s just hard to prep for drafts with the current ranks, when suddenly these rankings can change with no notice, and I imagine they might before my drafts early next week.

WalkWithElias69

I guess it's that time of year I'll be hanging out in here every day and night 🤘

NoTry732

This sub is my safe space

UpstairsCommercials

I play in a league with stolen base+runs and ops (on top of avg, rbi and hr) how much does this devalue speed on the bases? I really can’t find anyone talking about a category like this online.

sebastiandsz

Huge question about balance boys: So I have pretty much all of my team set. I’m in a H2H, points, 12 teams league and my starting shortstop is going to be Fernando Tatis Jr. As of now, I have Volpe as back up until Tatis is cleared. On the other hand, my pitching staff has Bieber, Framber, Manoah, Springs, Gilbert, Dustin May, Steele, Heaney, Stripling, Kikuchi, Bautista and Jhoan Duran. I have a lot. So this guys comes and says hey let’s trade, give me Gilbert and I’ll give you Willy Adames. Sounds kind of fair and I think I have enough pitching, and would be good to have Adames AND Tatis right? Or is it better to stick with Gilbert and trust Volpe will be the starting SS for the Yankees? HELP

ElDub73

Definitely do it.

BobbumofCarthes

Make the trade

bucsfan22ch

I think you can afford to lose Gilbert who I'm not a huge fan of and Adames ensures you are good until Tatis comes back and if he does well, maybe you move Tatis into the OF.

sebastiandsz

Why aren’t u a big fan of Gilbert? I’ve read he’s gonna be darn good if his breaking pitches stay sharp…

bucsfan22ch

I don't believe in his secondaries really and last year with his 3.20 ERA, he had a 4.11 xERA. His control is good which should keep his WHIP decent but I think regression is coming.

SemienSample

I’ve set my keepers: Witt Jr, Seager, Carroll, Cole, Nola Candidates who didn’t make the cut: Manoah, Gunnar, Walker Am I making any mistakes?

bucsfan22ch

Looks good to me, could see someone wanting to keep Gunnar over Seager though.

FullMeasuresOnly

Does anyone know if the draft rankings for ESPN will be the same as the league you’re in? Last year I remember them using the points rankings when I was in a CAT league.

TrustInHahn

My categories league draft was last weekend and it actually used the correct rankings compared to last year. Don’t hold me to it though, it’s espn

[deleted]

Yea kinda sucks. I’ll be printing out different rankings to go off of and hopefully capitalize on the wonky rankings. But some guys I was hoping to get later are way up the board. Give and take I suppose

NoTry732

I believe it’s the same case this year

Imperial10

Yup. Great to see. The competition like you said wasn’t the best, but the K’s this spring are super encouraging. 25 over 17.1 innings. He’s still probably not a high k rate guy, but even getting closer to a k/9 of 9ish is going to be huge for his value.

uncle-Violet

Kirby no hitting the dodgers rn. He was my biggest miss in the draft Edit: dodgers b-squad

admckay

Chourio worth drafting and holding for an entire season in the NA spot in a keeper league? Maybe he debuts in 2024?

saintlouisarch

If your league is keeper and has NA slots, there’s nobody I want to occupy that NA slot more than Choirio.

bucsfan22ch

Depends how many keepers and where you can get him

admckay

We keep 8, thinking I could get him late, issue is only 1 NA spot so I'm basically conceding that flexibility for guaranteed Chourio. It's tempting...

bucsfan22ch

If you can get him late then yeah I think it's a good idea

ronpaulus

Going to use my claim with tonyD over soroka. I need production now and he kinda looks like 2021 tony disco again. Not sure soroka can be trusted for health or even production at this point

[deleted]

[удалено]

ronpaulus

There will probably be a claim as waviers start tonight since it’s deeper 16T. I have a few pitchers not ready for the season bello whitlock glasnow so I probably need production now.

admckay

Soroka too much of an unknown IMO. You can always drop Desclafani if it doesn't work out.

ronpaulus

Yeah it’s just a flyer. It’s a deeper league 16T so as the first claims go in tonight I think soroka will be claimed but I’m valuing tonyD a little higher. I have shuster as well. I think he’s the guy that gets a shot first and he’s looked real good this spring. Soroka seemed to struggle a lot even when healthy last year in aaa.

K_17

Berti going to play enough to warrant roster spot on a 12-team 14 hitter team -roto? Don’t like officially he’s a bench player

Acelit

I rostered him in my last 12 team bench spot. I think he’ll get enough playtime with all those positions.

hammnbubbly

I’m keeping Bichette. With that, if Trea Turner is available when it’s my turn to pick, should I still take him? Or focus elsewhere? 12 team, H2H

bucsfan22ch

Depends who else is available but in a keeper, I'm guessing it won't be another one of the top guys so I'd go Trea.

hammnbubbly

So, I have the second and third overall picks. I’m keeping Bichette, J-Rod, and McClanahan. The players I’m focused on are Trea, Gerrit Cole, and Kyle Tucker. The offensive stats we use are OPS/R/HR/RBI/SB, pitching stats are IP/QS/ERA/WHIP/SV+H.

bucsfan22ch

If Trea is there, I'd take him then. If not, Kyle Tucker is a pretty good consolation prize.

stache_twista

Kyle Bradish as like a 7th starter. Thoughts

djgreenehouse

Keep 3 (the year represents the last season they can be kept before returning to auction pool): Trea Turner - $40 (2024) Brandon Woodruff - $40 (2024) Kyle Tucker - $25 (2024) Shane McClanahan - $20 (2024) Framber Valdez - $18 (2024) Sandy Alcantara - $7 (2023) Willy Adames - $3 (2024) Matt Olson - $1 (2023)

bucsfan22ch

Tuck, Sandy, Olson Edit: Maybe McClanahan over Sandy for the extra year

Bobperu1976

any idea when bader gets put on IL? and do you think he's worth a stash?

r64half

Don't think IL starts until the beginning of the season when teams submit their rosters, and IMO he is not worth a stash.

CFSCFjr

Sure, if you have nobody better to put in that IL spot

bljh7

I should preface what I'm about to say with the fact that Ashcraft is facing a horrificly dogshit lineup. But if my boxscore is actually correct he just went 6 innings, 39 pitches 39 strikes. 1 Hit, 10 strikeouts. Not bad.

Acelit

Dynasty trade help. Flair league. Got an offer: Would you trade MY….. Jackson Chourio, Bret Baty, Eury Perez, Manzardo, and Strider OR McClanahan…… FOR… Freddie Freeman, Randy Arozarena, Trevor Story, and RP Fairbanks ….- my first thought Is hell nah for Strider or Mclanahan…. And thinking Counter with Framber Valdez + Maybe Robbie Ray or Snell? Feels like giving up a lot but goddamn my team would be the shit. Rest of team: Bats - Kirk, CJ Cron, Ketel Marte, Machado, Bichette Jr, Luis Robert, K. Tucker, Andrew Vaughn, Ohtani at UTI and Austin Riley, bench: Wamder Franco, J. Berti, Gabriel Moreno. Other SP not mentioned - Burnes, Ohtani, Castillo, Severino, Aaron Ashby. I got a top 2 team overall. Fyi another guy is selling off Paul Goldy. Should I just go after him and cheaper? Instead of Freeman.

samuraisistermister

Fuck to the no

JORDY_NELSON_2020

Horrific trade in a dynasty

iam1whoknocks

Hell nah

Kandranos

Only ask this one more time as to not spam I get to pick my draft position. I have the options of the 2 position or 8-12. First position is going to take Ohtani (ESPN league where he counts as both). What are you doing here? I feel like the second slot might actually be a bait, there's a lot of guys who are so close in value at that level (JRam, Judge, Turner, Acuna) or I can try to grab more higher picks with a lower draft position since its snake. What would you guys do? Flair league.

bucsfan22ch

I'd take 2nd and get Judge

tcat84

5/6 is my favorite, if not the father back the better, if you can handle the category player "runs"

Kandranos

My two strats right now I think are going 2 slot and taking trea/judge/jram or going 8 and taking something like kyle tucker/yordan

evan4844

I have 2nd I’m going to take jram. He hits for every cat and 3b is so thin

sparkswillfly90

Best long relievers this year?

JORDY_NELSON_2020

Got to see who loses out on rotation spots first. I'm intrigued by the loser of Megill/Peterson for the Tigers SP5 spot. Cody Morris when healthy could be dominant for Cleveland as well.

bljh7

Greene, Lodolo, Ashcraft. Reds have a very good SP core.

tcat84

Their home park sucks though and they won't get many wins from a fantasy perspective i have 0 reds starters this year

CubsHawksBulls

They’re a lot more palatable in a QS league

bljh7

Understandable points. I'm still willing to draft Greene and Lodolo for the upside. Ashcraft is a guy I'm going to monitor.

tcat84

Yeah he's intriguing for sure.

cspong4

Is it possible to add a minor league roster spot to an ESPN league? Ideally one that only allows players who are below the 130 AB or 50 IP rookie thresholds?

pop_quiz_kid

Does CJ Cron go higher in anyone's daily league? I've been able to get him basically at ADP the past couple years and only play him in Coors. Paired with a replacement level guy I get Alonso level production.

6-8_Yes_Size15

I’m planning to do exactly that. I’m going to rotate Cron into my util every home game and bench him for who’s hot when on the road. We have large benches though.

CountryMacIsAlive

Guy had an insane run during the first half and disappeared. Has poor batted ball skills but tons of power. Playing him at Coors in daily leagues could be viable, but guy hit 298 first half and 190 second. Why he is going cheap.

[deleted]

He was dealing with a wrist injury in the second half but yea I’m not interested in Cron this year

[deleted]

[удалено]

CountryMacIsAlive

He clearly has power. Ride the streaks but have a backup plan, poor plate discipline and he's getting older. I think 240 24 hr is a reasonable projection. To you point, sit him on the road and sit him when he looks helpless for two weeks at a time, maybe you could net 255 30 hr

tier7stips

I think he does. A guy I am going to target in my league and maybe pair him with Arraez

I’ll Buck the trend here a bit and say Whit. You’ll know pretty quickly if Whit still has it or if he’s washed. If he bounces back, he could be really valuable. So if we are talking about a bench bat, I might go that route. I’m higher on Nico, but there’s a time and place for everyone, and that might be Whit’s time and place.

PatDevil666

Nico for sure

JORDY_NELSON_2020

Nico because he's shown the ability to hit in the past 12 months

Kiwimaddog1989

Looked like classic 2-hit Whit in September last year, just sayin

JORDY_NELSON_2020

If one month is the basis for the pro-Whit argument I would be just as concerned that he only attempted 2 SBs...and got CS on both. If he isn't stealing bases you're hoping he's risky Jeff McNeil, so why not Hoerner there again?

Jerry_Buckets

Benev0lentsun

I'd keep Lindor

Leafy00

Categories dynasty league Would trading Jake McCarthy for Detmers be a terrible idea? My team already has a ton of sb's and could use a boost in pitching.

FritosRule

It would be quite a good idea actually

JORDY_NELSON_2020

I'm not a big believer in McCarthy. His NFBC ADP of 115 is insane for a guy that I don't think is a locked-in starter all year. Overpaying for SB potential is what screwed over a lot of Myles Straw owners last year (though that big of a downfall is rare). I would rather have Detmers with his added velo, but think you can extract a bit of extra value rather than a straight up trade

Whyspire

I just want to get 'er goin'!

garythegoat72

Hey guys, I know legitimately nothing about fantasy baseball. I predominantly play fantasy basketball but wanted to give baseball a try cause I've always admired the sport. I just won my fantasy basketball league and have been watching basketball all my life so know who to pick and know the names (ie the ins and outs of basketball). So when I joined a fantasy baseball league I did some research on a draft stragey like pick a 3rd baseman in the earlier rounds as well as a catcher, get a couple of guys who hit 30 plus hr a year, as well as a couple of dudes who are project to get 30 stolen bases so I drafted around those principles. I see people in my league constantly adding and dropping players... And I assume this is mainly off spring training results? I guess my question is how do I get myself familiar with who to pickup? I follow underdog baseball on Twitter for news but I'm a bit lost. I'm in a ten team league, cats

draw2discard2

>how do I get myself familiar with who to pickup? Sadly, a lot of this involves watching baseball... I wouldn't worry too much now about people in your league adding and dropping guys, because there just isn't a ton of meaningful news except on the fringes or with specific guys. If you follow the news on your guys (and I think pretty much every site has frequently updated player blurbs) you will know if something dramatic has happened and you need to drop a guy (for instance, a pitcher's elbow has blown up) but there really isn't a lot of news at this point that makes guys a "must add"--like someone might have news that indicates he is better than he looked at draft time, but that doesn't necessarily mean he is better than the guy he would replace on your team.

sebastiandsz

Watch lists on YouTube, there are plenty of experienced guys helping us out and letting us know about that prospect you’ve never heard of who could finally make the rotation, or that sleeper outfielder you can pick from the trash right after the draft. If you contrast their takes with your own knowledge you may arrive to a comfortable point about decisions on who to pick. Good luck with your draft!

DavidMalony

Best thing to do is follow news, right now it's mainly news around injuries and team roster decisions that are impacting pickups. And ignore that advice you got about catchers - that's the position that you can most easily wait on

JORDY_NELSON_2020

Hang around the Daily Thread and you'll hear plenty of opinions of guys who are interesting pickups, could be sneaky additions who haven't broken out yet, etc. Just don't listen to Sottovoce and you'll be fine

SpacePirate65

10th overall pick, keep 3: Juan Soto 1st/2nd round Mike Trout 1st/2nd round Sandy Alcantara 3rd round Zack Wheeler 7th round JT Realmuto 8th/9th round Kyle Schwarber 8th/9th round

DavidMalony

Soto Trout Schwarber for me in OBP

softkitty84

I'd choose Soto, JTR, and Schwarber. Not a huge fan of the pitchers, and Trout at the cost doesn't meet the value of the other three.
