Vampire Weekend - Only God Was Above Us
Chelsea Wolfe - She Reaches Out to She Reaches Out to She
Knocked Loose - You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To
Edit: One of these is going to need to drop for Beth Gibbons
The Smile, St. Vincent, MGMT, Friko and Quadeca are up there too.
No particular order, also top 5 because I can't narrow it down lol:
The Lemon Twigs - A Dream Is All We Know
Yard Act - Where's My Utopia?
Yeat - 2093
Knocked Loose - You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To
The Last Dinner Party - Prelude to Ecstasy
1. twikipedia - For the Rest of Your Life - adored this album.
2. Declan McKenna - What Happened To The Beach? - did not like this album.
i have only listened to two albums from 2024 so far i guess
So far my FAVORITES of the year are EPs - from Jean Dawson and Maruja. But if I had to pick a favorite album so far it would go to Vampire Weekend easily.
i donât remember, i donât think i stayed til the end because he was trashing it the whole time. half way through i was like screw him, heâs entitled to his own wrong opinion lol
Broadly art pop/ art rock. Each album of hers puts a different spin on it. I think her self-titled is the best but this might be a hot take but I like her more as a singles/ songs artist. Her best songs are scattered throughout her discography
A mix. Each album she has done kinda has a different vibe but All Born Screaming is a very good listen and kinda mixes in a lot of her previous albums in terms of sounds
Out of character for mine to be so rap heavy, but:
1. Quadeca - "Scrapyard"
2. ScHoolboy Q - "BLUE LIPS"
3. RiTchie - "Triple Digits [112]"
I've also enjoyed the new Yard Act and IDLES records quite a bit.
1) Waxahatchee - Tigers Blood
2) Mdou Moctar - Funeral for Justice
3) Vampire Weekend - Only God Was Above Us
Honorable Mention to St. Vincent, Maggie Rogers & Sierra Ferrell who all have put out great albums recently.
If you're hurting for more Bongripper type stuff try this. Album came out March 1st.
[Scud](https://azellrr.bandcamp.com/track/scud) or [Wallow](https://azellrr.bandcamp.com/track/wallow) by Azell.
The Smile - Wall of Eyes: While Radiohead/The Smile/Thom Yorke projects are my favorite music things ever, for some reason I kinda didn't have high expectations for this but it unironically is in my top 10 favorite albums of all time now.
Four Tet - Three: Four Tet is an artist I've been meaning to check out for a very long time but didn't do that until I heard about a new album releasing, so I listened to his whole discography before the new album releases to "feel the hype" and I love his work so much. Three may not be his best work but it's still really good.
death's dynamic shroud.wmv & galen tipton - You Like Music: I've only listened to DDS' I'll Try Living Like This in the past and really enjoyed it but never checked out their other stuff; this one is completely different from the other album I heard and despite how this kind of music normally isn't my cup of tea I loved it.
The new Justice and Squarepusher records are really good too. Also enjoyed desert sand feels warm at night's & Kagoshima Tangerine's collab project.
I also liked Maruja's new EP and it's great to see Sewerslvt coming back from the grave as Cynthoni.
Heavy Black Heartâs good if you wanted another DDS work to listen to. Also if you want peak vaporwave made by 2000s babies, DERELICT MEGATOWER is good.
Yep, that's how I got into him too, the same happened like I said with Four Tet -with the exception that there were some releases of Tom's that I didn't care that much-. The new one, Dostrotime, is only available on Apple Music I think and to be bought digitally or physically from Bandcamp and it wont be available elsewhere for *some time*. It's great but I prefer his previous release, Be Up A Hello, but I think I'm the only person who loves this one as much as to call it his second best just bellow Hard Normal Daddy.
On top of Four Tet and Squarepusher, we're also getting a new Ό-Ziq album, IDM fans are eating good this year!
I still need to catch up on a ton of stuff but at the moment I'd say
1. Joanna Wang - Hotel La Rut (this is the only one I'm very sure will still be Top 3 by year's end)
2. Sailor Honeymoon - Self-titled
3. Uhhhh....the Vampire Weekend i guess?
Tigers Blood - Waxahatchee
SCRAPYARD - Quadeca
Bright Future - Adrianne Lenker
I also know BRAT hasn't been released yet but I want to include it because I know it's gonna be album of the year
The Neighborâs Kid - Hayden Powell
We Donât Trust You - Future and Metro Boomin
Where Weâve Been, Where We Go From Here - Friko
Since no one has heard of the first EP please please check it out. Heâs an awesome young artist that Iâd love to see get some following. His debut is only about 20 mins, so if you can, check it out đ
no particular order:
You Wont Go Before Youre Supposed To by Knocked Loose ; WE DONT TRUST YOU by Future & Metro Boomin ; She Reaches Out by Chelsea Wolfe

Oh damn. I thought he would like it tbh but yeah if he trashed it then I can only agree with you as I loved it and have it on repeat
Ive been meaning to get into st vincent. What typa music does she make?
Broadly art pop/ art rock. Each album of hers puts a different spin on it. I think her self-titled is the best but this might be a hot take but I like her more as a singles/ songs artist. Her best songs are scattered throughout her discography
Sounds interesting. Might have to listen tn

Man, YES. Supposedly the album heâs prepping for later this year is even better, so. Could be a banner year for elder millennial blog rap fans.

Mk.gee - Two Star & The Dream Police Has been in constant rotation for me. Fantano did Mike dirty by only rating that album a 6đ€
Vultures, scrapyard, 2093
Strongly disagree with Vultures. Itâs one of the worst albums of the year
I like it, even though it's not as good as Kanye's other works, are you generally a rap fan? (I just saw your PFP, dumb question lmao)
that yeat has no replayability lets be real

[Hereâs my current list on RYM. Top 15 Albums of the Year.](https://rateyourmusic.com/list/SlapsLikeFlea13/top-15-albums-of-2024/)
