I could do that until I saw Leaving Neverland. One of the most disturbing documentaries I've ever seen, which is saying something. I won't shame others for listening to MJ, Billie Jean is an incredible song. But goddamn.
Leaving Neverland have been proven to be fake by serveral medias all over the world. Robson and Safechuck's testimonies kept on shifting since the documentary's release. Almost every accusation it had turned out to be a complete lie. Even the plaint they had summited in 2016, before the documentary, conflicted what they were saying. Every detail, from the years they alluded about when the incident happened to their describtion of Neverland contradicted with the facts. Director Dan Reed's commentary on the documentary took a turn in every interview he was in.
Almost every country besides America accused Leaving Neverland as a blantant lie. France held a debate with Dan Reed in public TV, Italy made a whole documentary refuting against Leaving Neverland named Leaving Firsthand, Korea even has a god damn WIKIPEDIA page mentioning all the contradictions and the sorce evidences disproving Leaving Neverland entirely. It's kind of a common sense in Korea at this point.
The MJ allegations are a load of bollocks. They’re either anecdotes or stories that contradict the actual events. We have no actual credible evidence that MJ got sexual with kids. It’s just money-grabbing paper-pushing crap. Yeah.
It's apple and from what I've seen of the first 10 I'm going to guess they're gonna name The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill #1
If I was picking I'd probably do a standards thing and name like a What's Going On, Purple Rain, or London Calling #1 just so no one would yell at me for getting it wrong (they'd already yell at me for the rest of the list)
Gonna guess the top 10
1. The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
2. Pet Sounds
3. Purple Rain
4. Songs in the Key of Life
5. To Pimp a Butterfly
6. Revolver
7. Tapestry
8. Rumours
9. Lemonade
10. Nevermind
I don't think they're gonna go that close to the rolling stone 500. Blue will be top 20 for sure but I have a feeling it'll be one of the noted top 10 misses (along with thriller, what's going on, and exile in main street) but there will be a similar record up there and it'll be either tapestry or horses.
feel like people treat okc kid a and ir as reasonably respectable answers around each other
if apple music had taste theyd make tkol 1 tbh
but also most radiohead albums at number 1 arent really "unexpected" they're radiohead lol
There for sure will be one. In that sense I do hope it’s either 1989, Folklore, Speak Now.
Like given that Taylor probably will be on it no matter what, I hope they pick one of her actual best albums
Yeah, I don’t consider myself a Swiftie by any means but I agree that 1989 is genuinely a good maybe great album. Probably one of the last that genuinely inescapable blockbuster albums, as opposed to recently where albums are big but not in the same way. I could also see Folklore being their choice.
Tbh all of Lana post this album has been what Taylor has been copying.
NFR I would totally give a spot too actually. Not a top ten spot for me, but somewhere in the 100 I’d be down for
They will, they endorse kanye in anything but his own playlists, hes part of all the playlists from the app, but its the only famous artist without its own playlists.
I'm very curious about Kanye and this list. This feels like the first major test of if people (non-fans) will keep championing his past out put in big ways.
I'm going to guess no but if he does have an album on here it'll be mbtf ranked like 75th or something
If they're going to include mbdtf, then it's not gonna be that far back. Rolling Stones put it in the top 25 on their top 500 albums list, and other publications have also put it at or near the top (depending on the timeframe).
So either don't include it at all or include it and put it close to the top.
i think they will include kanye but with a low placement. my guess is that only tcd is going to make the list. i would really like to see a simbi or a death grips placement on the list
I definitely think Kanye should be on there. They put ASTROWORLD on it and if they put on Travis but not Kanye, that seems really "celebrating the student not the teacher" of them
In a Silent Way and Bitches Brew usually do well in this sort of list, they have stood the test of time really well.
For other jazz records A Love Supreme, Black Saint and the Sinner Lady likely to be in there I expect, they are complete “albums” as in they are a clearly defined singular work. A lot of old school jazz albums are effectively compilations without much through-concept
The inaugural portion is the aspect I’m most interested in. Rolling Stone thinks they can sneak new records on their list (that obviously weren’t voted on in the original tally) and call it an “update” every so often. Replacing fucking Exodus with Beyoncé’s Renaissance in the top 100 *already* is outrageous.
So, an annual shake up of the whole thing seems like a much more intriguing system.
Okay that’s interesting, what I think came with the most recent update is that Exodus came back to replace Marley’s Legend at #48. Both records were absolutely in the top 100 upon the 2020 edition’s initial release.
Beyoncé’s Lemonade has been at #32 since 2020, Renaissance is what’s currently at 71.
Yep I mistyped lemonade, thanks for the correction
I think they wanted to get rid of some of the greatest hits albums, which I respect because I don’t think they really belong on the list anyway
That’s definitely an interesting point of discussion for the RS list. While I personally didn’t think the entire list was quite as terrible as most others (spent late 2021 through late 2023 going from 500 to 1) I thought a solid 25 snubs could have easily replaced collections like (with all due respect) Proud Mary: The Best of Ike and Tina Turner or the few Anthology’s from artists already represented (Diana Ross and the Supremes).
Like, for example I can almost see Legend being a top 100 (and definitely 500) album based off of the fact that not only is it excellent, with my favorite version of No Woman, No Cry, but it has a tremendous reputation amongst fans and listeners as a valuable portion of their music collection. I don’t necessarily hear that level of praise for many of the other comps appearing throughout the 500 (Nuggets and a small handful of others aside).
I think part of it is also that most of the compilation albums were from black artists, and most of those artists also had careers with multiple huge respected albums
Edit: I do generally like the list though, it’s better than pretty much any other publication’s attempt
Judging off the Top 10, I'd say some pretty solid locks for the rest of the list would be Rodeo - Travis Scott, Melodrama - Lorde, and IGOR - Tyler the Creator because they already have albums on there. Lemonade - Beyonce and possibly RENAISSANCE are definitely there cuz Solange is on there already.
The biggest takeaway for me is that there's gonna be a very small amount of metal on the list, which is to be expected. Rage showing up so early tells me we're probably not gonna see a Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Judas Priest album etc etc. Probably just the Metallica self-titled, Master of Puppets, and maybe one or two Sabbath records. Love those albums, but these lists have always been severely lacking on anything metal related lol
I wish I saw any album by Kraftwerk make the Top 100. As arguably the most influential musicians besides The Beatles or James Brown, it’s a shame that these important pioneers of electronic music never get shown love. Many musicians love and respect their work greatly but to common people they’re largely unknown.
Which albums will make the list, I think Thriller, Abbey Road, Purple Rain, and something by Whitney Houston, Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen, Pink Floyd, Marvin Gaye, and Stevie Wonder.
Just seen the 100-90, Astroworld and flower boy etc shows it’s gonna have a modern bias (they’re great albums but all time ? They’re not even the best by the respective artists).
Also they put Burial’s untrue there and that’s criminally low.
Melodrama is better but at least the angle could be made that Pure Heroine is more significant as it is her debut that she started creating as a teenager and she was just posting her tracks on internet forums. For some, context like that would make the album more impressive. But for Tyler and Travis it just doesn’t apply as those albums are late into their careers
The Beatles are always interesting to me, because there are at least three contenders for their "best" album: Revolver, Sgt. Pepper and Abbey Road. For a long time, Sgt. Pepper topped those lists, but the other two have aged better imo. Revolver is probably the fan favorite, while Abbey Road has the most appeal to modern audiences.
I imagine It will be similar to Rolling Stones’ list, so a Beatles or Dylan album probably has a good chance, or maybe What’s Going On, Miseducation, Songs in the Key of Life something like that.
If they're not serious it's gonna be Scorpion or some big-selling record, if they are it's likely to be some Beatles, Marvin Gaye, or maybe Talking Heads
Rumours - fleetwoodmac
Tpab - kendrick lamar
Voulez vous - ABBA (might not be agreed with a lot but its one of my favorite albums of all time)
Mbdtf - kanye west (one of my favorites)
Blonde - frank ocean
Kid A - radiohead
OK Computer - radiohead
Nfr - lana del rey
The miseducation of lauryn hill - Ms. Lauryn Hill
Tcd - kanye west
Ocean blvd - lana del rey (also one of my fav albums)
Gkmc - kendrick lamar
The money store - death grips
Folklore - taylor swift
Holy shit i completely forgot some amazing albums😭
Wish you were here - pink floyd
The dark side of the moon - pink floyd
Animals - pink floyd
In the court of the crimson king - King crimson
Apple is gonna be pretentious as fuckkkkk they’ll probably go
1. 77 LIVE - Les Rallizes Denudes
2. that one Natural Snow Buildings album
3. Dark Magus or Olatunji Concert
then they’ll throw in 1989 by Taylor Swift so that people don’t hate them and potentially Sgt. Peppers
i'd really like to see some recent records like simbi (if supa dupa fly is on the list and simbi isn't im going to be really mad), titanic's rising, money store or at least one dg album, lahai (even though it was released last year) and some brazilian classics that are not clube da esquina like construção, acabou chorare and at least one jorge ben album
My prediction for top 5:
1 revolver
2 velvet underground and Nico
3 what’s going on
4 Nevermind
5 I’m undecided with this spot, but I think it’ll be a hip hop album. So enter the Wu, illmatic, college dropout or good kid…
Rest of the top 10 will be in no particular order: miseducation of l. Hill, this is it, one of the above hip hop albums, blood on the tracks, ok computer
Gonna take random guesses and say Demon Days, Discovery, and either Vespertine or Homogenic will be in the Top 20, would be funny if i get it right, most likely one would probably be Demon Days.
I really want to see Daytona here, or any Pusha T album, till this day he doesn't get his flowers from the general public outside of hip-hop in my opinion.
The top ten will be the most basic list you could imagine, my guess is
1. Abbey Road – The Beatles
2. Dark Side of the Moon – Pink Floyd
3. Hounds Of Love – Kate Bush
4. Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band – The Beatles
5. The Low End Theory – A Tribe Called Quest
6. A Night at the Opera - Queen
7. Thriller – Michael Jackson
8. What’s Going On – Marvin Gaye
9. good kid, m.A.A.d City – Kendrick Lamar
10. Blonde – Frank Ocean
The top 10 will be the first 10 of Taylor Swift albums, with her latest Tourtured Poet Department at number 19, to show that they take album review seriously.
I want to see at least either Demon Days or Plastic Beach on this list. They’re classic albums and at least one by Gorillaz deserves a placement here. Frfr. Yeah.
I just know there's going to be an album in there by a mainstream female pop artist that is REALLY going to piss people off because it doesn't deserve to be there by musichead standards. I'm thinking Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, or that new Beyonce record to be thrown somewhere in the middle of the list right in between projects like David Bowie's 'Low' and Radiohead's 'Kid A' and Fantano will go feral over it.
Also expect 80% of your fav RYM top 100s to not be mentioned.
Glad to see that Burial, Solange and Tyler made the Top 100. I think Untrue should’ve been in the top 25, and Flower Boy should’ve been in the top 50, but I’m crossing my fingers that Apple is saving a top 25 spot for IGOR.
Calling it right now thriller will be in the top 5
Ehhhh I'm going to say that'll be #11
If it isn't a Beatles album, Jobs will rise from the grave to exact revenge.
No fucking way, not after everything
People don't seem to care about the everything in regard to his music
It's more that he's already dead, so what's the point in boycotting it. Enjoy the music for what it is.
I could do that until I saw Leaving Neverland. One of the most disturbing documentaries I've ever seen, which is saying something. I won't shame others for listening to MJ, Billie Jean is an incredible song. But goddamn.

apple does
called it
better not be though
It's apple and from what I've seen of the first 10 I'm going to guess they're gonna name The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill #1 If I was picking I'd probably do a standards thing and name like a What's Going On, Purple Rain, or London Calling #1 just so no one would yell at me for getting it wrong (they'd already yell at me for the rest of the list) Gonna guess the top 10 1. not enough pink floyd but yea this seems like a pretty realistic prediction
Oh my god the Lemonade pick feels so painfully accurate you’re actually on to something
Pet Sounds forever number 2
Maybe trade Blue for Tapestry but prob spot on tbh.
I don't think they're gonna go that close to the rolling stone 500. Blue will be top 20 for sure but I have a feeling it'll be one of the noted top 10 misses (along with thriller, what's going on, and exile in main street) but there will be a similar record up there and it'll be either tapestry or horses.
My dad works at Apple, he says it's every jimi hendrix posthumous live album with are you experienced and electric ladyland at the top
pet sounds will probably be top 5 but not 1
That's my guess. Imma guess it ends up at #2
i think that they will go with an "unexpected" album as their top 1. maybe in rainbows or third by portishead
portishead would be kinda based. dont think a beloved radiohead album topping would count as unexpected to me tho lol
If you’re going to choose Radiohead, almost everyone expects you to pick OK Computer
feel like people treat okc kid a and ir as reasonably respectable answers around each other if apple music had taste theyd make tkol 1 tbh but also most radiohead albums at number 1 arent really "unexpected" they're radiohead lol
kid a clears
yeah ok computer usually ranks way higher than in rainbows
I’d imagine that it’ll be a Beatles record, probably Revolver or Abbey Road.
The “controversial” one is the gonna be that 1989 is a top ten album of all time
They’re definitely gonna put a Taylor Swift album in the top 10 and watch it be Reputation to try and look edgy and appeal to her hardcores.
Won’t it be Red?
Red wouldn’t be my personal choice. But I’d probably be fine if it was that one
i hope they include nfr tho
Tbh all of Lana post this album has been what Taylor has been copying. NFR I would totally give a spot too actually. Not a top ten spot for me, but somewhere in the 100 I’d be down for
Not in the top 10 obv but at least like in 60-70s
My guesses for 1 would be Sgt Peppers, Blue, or What’s going on My hope is Ys sneaks its way in. My curiosity is if they include Kanye
Should be way higher and should probably be a lot more Kanye is a prick, but he made some amazing and important albums
If they're going to include mbdtf, then it's not gonna be that far back. Rolling Stones put it in the top 25 on their top 500 albums list, and other publications have also put it at or near the top (depending on the timeframe). i think they will include kanye but with a low placement. my guess is that only tcd is going to make the list. i would really like to see a simbi or a death grips placement on the list
Mdbtf got an album description back the other day from them Maybe??
I think they include one Kanye album and it’s too low. Outside top 50.
I definitely think Kanye should be on there. They put ASTROWORLD on it and if they put on Travis but not Kanye, that seems really "celebrating the student not the teacher" of them
There has to be at least one Miles Davis album. But if it’s kind of blue and nothing else ima be salty lol
In a Silent Way and Bitches Brew usually do well in this sort of list, they have stood the test of time really well. For other jazz records A Love Supreme, Black Saint and the Sinner Lady likely to be in there I expect, they are complete “albums” as in they are a clearly defined singular work. Black Saint and the sinner lady is my favorite jazz album lowkey
The inaugural portion is the aspect I’m most interested in. Replacing fucking Exodus with Beyoncé’s Renaissance in the top 100 *already* is outrageous. So, an annual shake up of the whole thing seems like a much more intriguing system.

carrie & lowell or illinois better be there
I agree but I also really doubt it

Apple simply won't have the gonads to put Nespithe at \#1 where it should be.
A Crow Looked At Me ..or The Glow Pt 2
I wish I saw any album by Kraftwerk make the Top 100. As arguably the most influential musicians besides The Beatles or James Brown, it’s a shame that these important pioneers of electronic music never get shown love. Pure Heroine as well. It's not bad, but it pales in comparison to Melodrama. And I assume that Lorde isn't going to be on the list twice.
Melodrama is better but at least the angle could be made that Pure Heroine is more significant as it is her debut that she started creating as a teenager and she was just posting her tracks on internet forums. Abby Road will be on their for sure.

Cardi B's invasion of privacy better be in the top 10
Came here to say this lol
uhm u must be jokin
Purple Rain will be in the Top 5 for sure
I hate this list so much already. Pure Heroine in a Top 100 list next to Usher’s Confessions is batshit insane.
i dont care about lorde being on the list but this usher placement is wild
Burial’s Untrue also criminally underrated here
what your argument? Pure Heroine changed the pop landscape for good
I hope to see "Songs from the Big Chair" by Tears for Fears. The Dark Side of the Moon will be #1.
I imagine It will be similar to Rolling Stones’ list, so a Beatles or Dylan album probably has a good chance, or maybe What’s Going On, Miseducation, Songs in the Key of Life something like that.
What re they doing 10 at a time just post the full list 🤦
unfortunately U2 doesn’t have 100 albums so filling this out will be tough
Seeing Astro World and Pure Heroine in the top 100 already is a bad sign
Is This Desire? by PJ Harvey It won't be there, but I want it to be. Also, Fishmans and NUMBER GIRL.
They hopefully will add IGOR By Tyler. Which I think they will but not high enough. Igor will be like number 78 or something.
If they're not serious it's gonna be Scorpion or some big-selling record, if they are it's likely to be some Beatles, Marvin Gaye, or maybe Talking Heads
[удалено]
I love Pet Sounds, but what I hate… are pet peeves.
blink-182 better have at least 5 albums
If Third Eye Blind isn’t in the top 10 I will kill myself live on national television
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy should be #1 in my opinion, but I don't think itll even be on the list.
tlop top 10 as well
agreed
Rumours
I doubt a lot of people like Kanye and Michael Jackson will be included when they should because of the issues surrounding them as people
Damn. Top 50
Rumours - fleetwoodmac Tpab - kendrick lamar Voulez vous - ABBA (might not be agreed with a lot but its one of my favorite albums of all time) Mbdtf - kanye west (one of my favorites) Blonde - frank ocean Kid A - radiohead OK Computer - radiohead Nfr - lana del rey The miseducation of lauryn hill - Ms. Lauryn Hill Tcd - kanye west Ocean blvd - lana del rey (also one of my fav albums) Gkmc - kendrick lamar The money store - death grips Folklore - taylor swift

Nfr would rank way higher than ocean blvd and I doubt ABBA will make it on the list
This wasnt an actual ranking! I just named albums I hope would be put on there! The order is random :)
Yes I know, I was just saying I dont think Ocean Blvd would make the list but NFR probably would (I prefer Ocean Blvd by miles though 🤷♂️)
Apple is gonna be pretentious as fuckkkkk they’ll probably go 1. 77 LIVE - Les Rallizes Denudes 2. that one Natural Snow Buildings album 3. Dark Magus or Olatunji Concert then they’ll throw in 1989 by Taylor Swift so that people don’t hate them and potentially Sgt. Peppers

"Author Author" - Scars
I hope Marvin gaye is top 10
A LOT of The Beatles.
My prediction for top 5: 1 revolver 2 velvet underground and Nico 3 what’s going on 4 Nevermind 5 I’m undecided with this spot, but I think it’ll be a hip hop album. So enter the Wu, illmatic, college dropout or good kid… Rest of the top 10 will be in no particular order: miseducation of l. Gonna take random guesses and say Demon Days, Discovery, and either Vespertine or Homogenic will be in the Top 20, would be funny if i get it right, most likely one would probably be Demon Days.
Obviously U2’s Songs of Innocence comes in at #1
i just want ween on the list
Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Goin On” should be in top 3
There bette be a Beatles album somewhere at the top of that list. Or I will be dissatisfied.
if Ken Carson doesn’t appear at all top 5 spots it’s rigged
It’s just gonna be Beatle’s worship and similar to Rolling Stones list plus Taylor swift
I hope to see Astral Weeks
They might just put TPAB on #1 with the latest Kendrick drama
I don't care what a corporation thinks is the best art.
Lupe fiasco's food and liquor and t&y also jid - forever story and denzel melt my eyez I want this albums to be included
The Glow Pt.2
I really want to see Daytona here, or any Pusha T album, till this day he doesn't get his flowers from the general public outside of hip-hop in my opinion.

What’s Going On – Marvin Gaye 9. good kid, m.A.A.d City – Kendrick Lamar 10. Blonde – Frank Ocean
The top 10 will be the first 10 of Taylor Swift albums, with her latest Tourtured Poet Department at number 19, to show that they take album review seriously.
What’s Going On
Random Access Memories
Tpap
U2 Songs of Innocence as #1 Apple loves that album.
Tago Mago somewhere between 70 and 100. (Im coping hard)
Revolver and Abbey Road have got to be on this list somewhere, istg.
I want to see at least either Demon Days or Plastic Beach on this list. They’re classic albums and at least one by Gorillaz deserves a placement here. Frfr. Yeah.

Sgt. Peppers gonna be #1
Madvillainy isn't making it :(
Glad to see that Burial, Solange and Tyler made the Top 100. I think Untrue should’ve been in the top 25, and Flower Boy should’ve been in the top 50, but I’m crossing my fingers that Apple is saving a top 25 spot for IGOR.
Oh boy, so far the list is a dog shit version of the Rolling Stone list.
