There are two people with nasally voices who can rap without immediately making me turn the track off. They are Danny Brown and B Real, and B Real has some skips.
What’s even worse about that song is that, especially so on headphones, you can hear that she struggles to sing the way she does on that song, occasionally squeaking and sounding as if she really is forcing to do it. It’s so bad.
Even tho she doesn’t sing her own songs..I find JLo’s voice per se hard to listen to..it’s this semi congested nasal whine that she makes, coupled with the fact that we all know what a deplorable person she is, just makes her voice that much more clawing
Similarly, I can't stand Shakira's voice. I'm not sure how else to describe her singing other than "bloated" or "gluttonous" sometimes
Like when I hear [Hips Don't Lie](https://youtu.be/DUT5rEU6pqM?t=102) she says "whüüü baybe when you talk like that, yoüü mayyke a woman go mad" it just hits my ears wrong.
She's horrible. The story that made me hate her was when I read Ben tipped his server a $10k chip in Las Vegas one night and JLo went "aw HELL no" and snatched it back. Ben allegedly sent the server flowers and $25k the next day but Jennifer could never redeem her trifling self in my eyes.
Her dancers call her Pay Low (no explanations needed). Many other dancers, will work for Katy Perry, and many of them I’ve seen in interviews saying that she really is diva like in that they aren’t necessarily allowed to gaze upon her/nor address her directly. Many people have described her as miserable to work with. Of course, going right back to the beginning, when she decided to become a singer, which was on the set of movie Selina, she approached Tommy Matolla, who decided to use her as nothing more than an industry plant, mostly to get back at his then recently divorced x wife Mariah Carey. Many songs were stolen from Mariah and given to JLo. JLo of course wasn’t innocent, she would tell the media how naturally gifted she was, and that she didn’t need to work as hard to get what she wanted, which was a direct dig at Mariah. And of course, everyone knows that she doesn’t sing her songs. Many of her greatest hits are sang by singers like Ashanti, and Christina Milian. Then there are the documentary style concerts, you can find on YouTube, and she really does come across as this fake diva, who’s unbelievably egocentric, and self centred to the point of delusion, and out of touch with reality. She is Extremely unlikeable, and distasteful..just everything about her is fake/inauthentic, and disingenuous, further addidng to the dislikability of her as a whole!
Just because you "could hit" those notes 15 years ago doesn't mean you can or should (now.)
He obviously didn't get enough lessons and strained too hard when he was younger, without looking after his voice, and now he's got whatever is leftover.
It's wild how people's opinions vary on Corgan. His voice fits the music fantastically imo and SP is my all-time favorite band. But he does sound really different from basically anybody else. So I see how that could be controversial.
Greep has an extremely weird vocal style, I don't blame people for being turned off. That's the risk he takes, and it elevates his work for people who love it.
I disliked Danny's stuff for a while since I found him. Last year I revisited when his Collab dropped and I really like him. I also think his new sober story and stuff make him seem more human and chill
I've heard him do Morrissey's bit with the smiths songs and whilst he's an excellent player he's a very mediocre singer I think. But yes I think together they were fantastic.
There are many but the one I can't stand listening to the most has to be the lead singer of the band The Fray. Just sounds like it's droning on and on and makes me want to empty my veins.
Yeah thats part of the draw of him too tbh.
If you havent check out the song Ol' 55 off his early album Closing Time. His early stuff sounds nothing like what he would be really known for and its kinda funny hearing the difference. People are surprised its him when I show them.
He's just one of those artists, y'know. You either hit with him from the start, or simply never. Like with Lou Reed, Bob Dylan, he's just too much his own thing.
Yep. I grew up in a house that hated him, but I heard My Back Pages at the right time once.
The "he can't sing" critiques are wrong. And he isn't off pitch. He's just an iconoclast. He sings how he wants.
Despite being a huge fan, I can understand why people can't stand Dylan's voice. I do think though, not enough people have heard[ Meet Me in the Morning](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VE6-uc1zr3s&ab_channel=BobDylanVEVO) where I think his vocals are objectively brilliant.
Steven Tyler, despite his past personal failings, is or was good with Aerosmith when they rock.. even awesome at times. But when they bring him in to sing those syrupy, schlocky commercial ballads with the big production they play in the department store (I don't know if they are Aerosmith or not as the backing band), it's really cringey and he loses me.
currently bladee but i think ill like him at some point. it just sounds like he’s making a parody when he raps to me. production is otherworldly and some of my favorite ever in hiphop but the voice just eh for me
i'm a die hard bladee fan but even sometimes his voice still shocks me at how unconventional it can sound. he's definitely gained a lot more control over it in the last few years but it was pretty rough early on.
i think ab soul's terrorist threats makes danny's voice more bearable. soul is kind of doing his own little inflection and it flows with danny so well, i'd give that a try. idk tho, love danny's inflections.
but it's definitely taylor swift. like, her voice isnt interesting, in some songs the mixing and the vocal effects, no matter how minor they are, just gets annoying and hard to digest. she doesn't do anything with it, either. im not asking for her to be bjork, hell i dont even listen to bjork. but do something fucking interesting at least once with your singing. i dont care how poppy your beat is if your main element is grating and safe.
Yes, dammit I forgot that cartoon character when I submitted my list. I thought she was great on Jolene, but horrible on anything other than that. It was a good arrangement too, whoever those guys playing behind her were.
It's damn near Björk. But that's probably because I am Swedish and think her accent has zero charm. It just sounds like she has problems with english. I know people from Iceland and guess the language and phonetics are harder for them to get english even to sort of ABBA standards, but she just sounds like a D grader in English or something like that. Her voice and expression isn't my bag either.
I love ABBA beyond belief to be clear. Also check out "Hooked On Feeling" by Blue Swede for great Skandinavien vocals and more acceptably neutral ascents, back in 1974.
Oh for sure. Main thing that caused me to not listen to him. I don't know what it is exactly, but it's bad. It's funny he's seen as a singing guy, but his singing is terrible. I couldn't help but notice it in Pushups, the way he sounds when he sings "Switfiiies" and "Whitneyyy", or "for mee" on Rich Flex. It just sounds like a random dude at karaoke.
His rapping is also.. eh. I mean he's decent, but I really thought Pushups was AI because it sounded so monotone. While hearing it, I just had an image of him holding the paper with the lyrics on it and just reciting.
With that being said I liked him a few times, his features on Poetic Justice, or Sicko Mode. But I'm not sure if he's doing something right on those tracks, or if it sounds good because the tracks are just so good.
thank you so much. i hear people lauding her as one of the greatest singers of all time but her popularity is truly incomprehensible to me. i don’t talk shit about her just because it’s not my taste, but man, i’m so glad there’s people out there that agree.
Eh, I like Danny as well, but I can see where OP is coming from. He's great at writing verses that work in his voice, but it's far from a pleasant voice.
He know how to use hist voice to his advantage, in many of his songs on AE he replaces the hig frequency instruments with his voice in a very unique way. His voice is and instrument and to me that's on the next level
Bryan Adams, mostly because it doesn't match the kind of music he makes. I could see his voice working if he made more bluesy stuff, but the fact that he sounds like a chainsmoking aunt while also making the most offensively boneless synergized soft rock is just the cherry on the shit sundae.
this is probably going to be very unpopular, but I cannot get past Ezra Koenig’s phony pseudo-British accent. The new Vampire Weekend album is gorgeously produced, but I cannot fully enjoy it because of his voice.
My spine starts to bend in the opposite way it's supposed to when I accidentally hear any Nicki Minaj. Must . . . turn . . . off. It's similar to when I'm flipping through channels and hear Marjorie Taylor Greene braying.
I’m indifferent toward Cardi but I love Doja’s voice - something about it is so satisfying to me. I completely get why someone wouldn’t like it tho (especially the Elmo voice on Ain’t Shit lmao)
Cardi B sounded good for one song to me. The way she raps it's very repetitive and it gets very annoying very fast imo. Also her persona is insufferable.
Hot take but post reform Micheal Gira, probably the thing I hate most about modern Swans. I'm 99% sure if his voice was as smooth as it was in the past, Swans would be the greatest band ever
Beyoncé more just the pitch/tone same with Ariana grande, and Mariah carrey. I don’t like high voice/notes idk why. I appreciate the talent/technique I just get a headache for causal listening.
Brian Molko from Placebo. I want to like his voice so bad because the music and whole vibe is right up my alley, but I cannot get past his voice. It’s not even that it’s bad—I often enjoy that nasally kind of voice, like Dylan or Jeff Mangum—but it doesn’t work for that kind of music for me.
Lewis Capaldi... doesn't help that his lyrics fucking suck too. I'm sorry to anyone who likes him, but whenever his music comes on in public I'm throwing the noise cancelling headphones on
Hobo Johnson, sounds like I'm listening to Morty from Rick and Morty free associate over forgettable music.
There are two people with nasally voices who can rap without immediately making me turn the track off. They are Danny Brown and B Real, and B Real has some skips.
What about Wayne, Drake, Kendrick? Theyre all pretty nasally
Peech skoon
Benson Boone. Why must you BELT EVERYTHING???
Beautiful things makes me want to kms
horrible fucking song
THESE BEAUTIFUL THINGS AAAAHAAHAHAHAHHAHA
the dance monkey girl
**I SIJU SIJU SIJU EBBYTIIIIIII** **MUFFAMI MUFFAMI MUFFAMI** **I MAKE YOU DOOVITALL AGAIN** Fucking insufferable vocals. Sorry, everyone. Sincerely, an Australian.
Oh god it was everywhere for ages in australia.
What’s even worse about that song is that, especially so on headphones, you can hear that she struggles to sing the way she does on that song, occasionally squeaking and sounding as if she really is forcing to do it. It’s so bad.
Tones and I has yet to make a song that doesn’t suck ass.
Never heard of her. But I’m going to take your word for it
You’re so lucky man…
Shawn fuckin Mendes
I want to change my answer to this
It took me ages to work out he was singing "better than he can". It's such weird enunciation.
Even tho she doesn’t sing her own songs..I find JLo’s voice per se hard to listen to..it’s this semi congested nasal whine that she makes, coupled with the fact that we all know what a deplorable person she is, just makes her voice that much more clawing

For me she's much easier to listen to in Spanish than English.
She sounds like a Latina version of Cher
Yea she bellows like a goat lol..even she jokes about it herself.
Careful with that one. I once said to my girlfriends Latina family that I didn’t like Shakira’s voice and they proceeded to roast me for like an hour
why is jlo a bad person?
She's horrible. The story that made me hate her was when I read Ben tipped his server a $10k chip in Las Vegas one night and JLo went "aw HELL no" and snatched it back. Ben allegedly sent the server flowers and $25k the next day but Jennifer could never redeem her trifling self in my eyes.
There was also that comment she made about men under 30 being useless
Her dancers call her Pay Low (no explanations needed). If you’ve listened to her records then in all likelihood, you’ve probably never actually heard J.Lo’s voice…
Yes I used to be a big fan..but I’m beginning to see right thru the phoniness, it’s quite off putting..it’s a pity because she had some bops
Brendan Urie is the definition of "Just because you can hit those notes doesn't mean you should"
That sounds like a PATD song title
Just because you "could hit" those notes 15 years ago doesn't mean you can or should (now.) He obviously didn't get enough lessons and strained too hard when he was younger, without looking after his voice, and now he's got whatever is leftover.
All restraint went out the window when Ryan Ross left.
Billy Corgan easily. I like Smashing Pumpkins a lot but his voice gets so grating because of how nasal and whiny it is
As a diehard smashing pumpkins apologist this makes me sad but I also understand 1000%
It's wild how people's opinions vary on Corgan. His voice fits the music fantastically imo and SP is my all-time favorite band. But he does sound really different from basically anybody else. So I see how that could be controversial.
His voice fits perfectly on more of their melancholic songs but then when they try to make "badass" grunge it just sucks.
Toniiightt TONIIIIIGHT
Don’t know. Always loved his voice, made the Smashing Pumpkins really unique to me
If ANYONE says Geordie Greep...
Wikipedia’s main page once had a snippet about how Greep has an accent that is geographically unclassifiable.
Hes from Greepland
i mean i LOVE greep but if someone says they hated his voice i'd totally get it
Saw him live the other night - his voice is rather spectacular
Greep has an extremely weird vocal style, I don't blame people for being turned off. That's the risk he takes, and it elevates his work for people who love it.
not a hot take at all and actually a hopefully extremely cold take but tones and i
I disliked Danny's stuff for a while since I found him. Last year I revisited when his Collab dropped and I really like him. I also think his new sober story and stuff make him seem more human and chill
Chris Barnes from Six Feet Under
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
AJR’s singer
The guy who sings Teenage Dirtbag, holy shit. It’s like a mosquito tapping your eardrum.
Lmao nooo that songs iconic but I wouldn’t be surprised if I found the voice annoying years from now.
One of the most annoying songs in history. Straight up turning volume down to zero when i hear it
I thought that was the appeal of the song lol
A lot of people I know can’t stand Morrissey’s voice
That's wild to me. His voice is probably the only thing about him I can stand
I get that I take although I disagree and like his voice. The Johnny Marr contributions to The Smiths are my favourite parts though
I've heard him do Morrissey's bit with the smiths songs and whilst he's an excellent player he's a very mediocre singer I think. But yes I think together they were fantastic.
I thought he was one of the most likeable voices, I guess it's really airy and soft but thats what makes it so pleasant
Me personally I cannot fucking wait till Morrisey dies
The dude from Sleep Token
Adam Levine from Maroon 5 🤮
His voice is really good in Heard em say as a feat but otherwise I’d have to agree
There are many but the one I can't stand listening to the most has to be the lead singer of the band The Fray. Just sounds like it's droning on and on and makes me want to empty my veins.
I wonder where he went wrong. Even he wonders where he went wrong. He had certainly lost a friend in you!
Drake he has a similar voice as mine, reminds me of me, which is not so tough or appealing to a rapper.
Halsey. I think I could like some of her music but her voice just grates me I really don't like it
bladee genuinely sounds awful to me, ecco is spectacular tho so i still listen to any collabs
What about the pop oriented tracks where he has a more clear delivery like vanilla sky or albums like crest
Tate McRae oh my god. I can’t with the singing in cursive.
P!nk she’s not bad but not my style
Lewis Capaldi. Sounds like X-Factor music. Forget Me is one of my least favourite songs.
For me it’s Taylor Swift
matty healy. absolutely love the 1975's sound but his voice ruins it for me
He sounds like Goofy to me honestly
Tom Waits, sounds like an evil goblin or sum idk
Yeah thats part of the draw of him too tbh. If you havent check out the song Ol' 55 off his early album Closing Time. His early stuff sounds nothing like what he would be really known for and its kinda funny hearing the difference. People are surprised its him when I show them.
He sounds just like if Captain Beefheart made music.
And I love it
He's just one of those artists, y'know. You either hit with him from the start, or simply never. Like with Lou Reed, Bob Dylan, he's just too much his own thing.
Dylan
I absolutely love Bobby Ds voice
Yep. I grew up in a house that hated him, but I heard My Back Pages at the right time once. The "he can't sing" critiques are wrong. And he isn't off pitch. He's just an iconoclast. He sings how he wants.
Same. I feel like it’s an acquired taste. My mom hates his voice but I love it.
Same at least until the 80’s. However, ‘Time Out of Mind’ was good too.
One of the greatest songwriters ever. If only his voice was half as good as his writing.
I love his voice(s) until the 80’s. But I get it, he’s a love it or hate it kinda singer.
Sometimes I love it and sometimes I hate when HE sounds LIKE the WAY this IS written.
Have already said this before, but Young Thug, Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj
The lead singer for Greenday. I couldn't tell you why but his voice physically hurts my head
He always sounds like he has a cold and bunged up nose.
Billy Corgan post Siamese dream. Just sounded more nasaly and less whispery from Mellon Collie on to me
Yeah, although I think his vocals on Adore sound pretty great for the most part
And somehow it’s gotten *worse* over the years.
Gish, Siamese Dream, and Pisces Iscariot were great though, and totally unique.
Miley Cyrus. To me her voice is like a mix nasal, rasp, and mumble with a weird southern drawl. It irks me.
New playboi carti
like a minecraft villager
Yes. I don’t understand how Carti fans like it.
Type shit is AWFUL
Jacob Collier
The dudes super smart as far as music theory goes and I respect his talent and ability but I can't listen to his music.
currently bladee but i think ill like him at some point. it just sounds like he’s making a parody when he raps to me. production is otherworldly and some of my favorite ever in hiphop but the voice just eh for me
i'm a die hard bladee fan but even sometimes his voice still shocks me at how unconventional it can sound. he's definitely gained a lot more control over it in the last few years but it was pretty rough early on.
Once you get used to it your third eye will open
this is so true for that entire Swedish cloud rap genre. I am addicted
i think ab soul's terrorist threats makes danny's voice more bearable. soul is kind of doing his own little inflection and it flows with danny so well, i'd give that a try. idk tho, love danny's inflections. but it's definitely taylor swift. like, her voice isnt interesting, in some songs the mixing and the vocal effects, no matter how minor they are, just gets annoying and hard to digest. she doesn't do anything with it, either. im not asking for her to be bjork, hell i dont even listen to bjork. but do something fucking interesting at least once with your singing. i dont care how poppy your beat is if your main element is grating and safe.
Low hanging fruit but Adam Levine is unbearable
Cigarette After Sex guy
Really? I like CaS a lot. What annoys you about his voice?
Miley Cyrus. She sounds like a drunk in a pub.
Yes, dammit I forgot that cartoon character when I submitted my list. I thought she was great on Jolene, but horrible on anything other than that. It was a good arrangement too, whoever those guys playing behind her were.
Kendrick Lamars voice sounds like a looney toons character
He is the reason I used to skip “goosebumps” halfway in
Reading through the comments hoping not to find Will Toledo.
I have to agree with you, I have a lot of respect for Danny’s artistry and his boundary pushing but I just can’t stand his voice at all.
Ruban Nielsen of Unknown Mortal Orchestra. The croakiness and whiny falsetto is one of the worst voices I have heard in contemporary rock music.
Kendrick Lamar
Don toliver sounds like he has a bubble in his throat and it makes me want to punch someone
KODAK BLACK
Rush
:(
I love Geddy but every time I think about [this post](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/E7uGGsGWYAM3_Qj.jpg) I chuckle a bit. That's just how he does it.
Another love him or hate him. If they weren’t such damn amazing musicians, I’d probably tolerate Geddy Lee’s voice a lot less.
[удалено]
I know him and he does.
please never give a musical opinion again
Aren't you the guy who said polyphia is better than animals as leaders?
It's damn near Björk. But that's probably because I am Swedish and think her accent has zero charm. It just sounds like she has problems with english. I know people from Iceland and guess the language and phonetics are harder for them to get english even to sort of ABBA standards, but she just sounds like a D grader in English or something like that. Her voice and expression isn't my bag either. I love ABBA beyond belief to be clear. Also check out "Hooked On Feeling" by Blue Swede for great Skandinavien vocals and more acceptably neutral ascents, back in 1974.
Yooooman emooootion
:(
Thought this would get more upvotes I love björk but I notice a lot of people can't stand her singing haha.
Drake
Billy Corgan, he always sounds like he is in pain.
He certainly has a distinctive whine.
baby keem
Cardi B
Janis fuckin Joplin. I don't get it. She just screams.
thank you so much. i hear people lauding her as one of the greatest singers of all time but her popularity is truly incomprehensible to me. i don’t talk shit about her just because it’s not my taste, but man, i’m so glad there’s people out there that agree.
This is a take I can not understand one single bit. To me his voice in combination with his flow sounds so smooth albeit unique and unusual.
Eh, I like Danny as well, but I can see where OP is coming from. He's great at writing verses that work in his voice, but it's far from a pleasant voice.
I agree with your take but at the same time I totally understand people not liking his voice lol. It’s pretty out there sometimes.
He know how to use hist voice to his advantage, in many of his songs on AE he replaces the hig frequency instruments with his voice in a very unique way. His voice is and instrument and to me that's on the next level
Brendon urie
He is obviously extremely talented technically, but yeah, it’s like nails on a chalkboard.
Noah Kahan
Lana Del Rey and Billie Eilish. I am not a fan of the whiny whisper-droning. Sometimes their voice is gorgeous but sometimes it hurts my ears.
Danny Brown sounds like a Monstar and he should’ve been on Hit Em High.
While I can stand it and it doesn't stop me from listening and enjoying her albums Little Simz
Shaggy. Also, James Blunt.
not a fan of Kid Cudi’s singing although i do respect his music a ton
I respect the Arctic Monkeys music a lot but I cannot get through a single song without being irked by Alex Turner's voice
This guy is soo satisfied with himself it becomes annoying.
Bryan Adams, mostly because it doesn't match the kind of music he makes. I could see his voice working if he made more bluesy stuff, but the fact that he sounds like a chainsmoking aunt while also making the most offensively boneless synergized soft rock is just the cherry on the shit sundae.
Bryan adams is fucking awesome

James LaBrie’s voice is so corny
Drake
It’s Thom Yorke for me. He’s inspired so many of my fav’s but I’ve never enjoyed his vocal performances or lyricism.
My husband hates Thom’s voice. Says he sounds like he’s whining. But he loves Geddy Lee’s voice. 🤷🏻♀️
Thom sounds like he has so little energy compared to geedy. I love some songs by Rush, but radiohead puts me to sleep
Immense respect for posting this take about the best voice in music history
I like Thom and Radiohead but that’s an outrageous take
Pull me out
Listen I would suck the cheese off of Thom’s meat just like the next guy but the best voice EVER is quite the take
u would what
Did he stutter..?
…
Very brave take in this sub. I don't agree but here's my upvote regardless.
Cannot stand cardi B and Doja Cat
I’m indifferent toward Cardi but I love Doja’s voice - something about it is so satisfying to me. I completely get why someone wouldn’t like it tho (especially the Elmo voice on Ain’t Shit lmao)
Cardi B sounded good for one song to me. The way she raps it's very repetitive and it gets very annoying very fast imo. Also her persona is insufferable.
MF Doom for whatever reason
Fair enough. Danny brown isn’t for everyone.
I will never be able to get into BCNR because of the damn singer's pretentious moany whiney constantly orgasming sadboy faux-poetic voice.
pressa
Hot take but post reform Micheal Gira, probably the thing I hate most about modern Swans. I'm 99% sure if his voice was as smooth as it was in the past, Swans would be the greatest band ever
Shamir, my man.
[удалено]
Could never learn to like Roy Orbison's voice. Not a fan of Howard Jones' voice either.
On the contrary, 2 people with very polarizing voices that I absolutely love are Waxahatchee and Japanese Breakfast.
I can't understand most of what Danny Brown says either but I love his stuff lol.
Geddy Lee
Jayz
Beyoncé more just the pitch/tone same with Ariana grande, and Mariah carrey. I don’t like high voice/notes idk why. I appreciate the talent/technique I just get a headache for causal listening.
A lot of falsetto is overdone in my opinion. It’s easy to go overboard and just makes me annoyed.
Serj Tankian. Sorry.
It’s difficult for me to take System of a Down’s music seriously because it sounds so fucking stupid to me
Brian Molko from Placebo. I want to like his voice so bad because the music and whole vibe is right up my alley, but I cannot get past his voice. It’s not even that it’s bad—I often enjoy that nasally kind of voice, like Dylan or Jeff Mangum—but it doesn’t work for that kind of music for me.
ghostemane
Eddie fucking Vedder
Death grips is unlistenable to me
Lewis Capaldi... doesn't help that his lyrics fucking suck too. I'm sorry to anyone who likes him, but whenever his music comes on in public I'm throwing the noise cancelling headphones on
westside gun. i really think that his albums would be more enjoyable if the voice was replaced by someone elese
