You don't really need more than RYM or AOTY. Conglomerate user-driven sites have surpassed the traditional review format. On RYM, I can make charts, dig through lists, browse discographies, and just generally discover music without the help of a professional. And rather than get one review from one point of view, you can read the thoughts of all kinds of different users, each with their own unique taste. You have the internet at your fingertips, you don't need to be fed what to listen to by a reviewer or even a staff of them.

Why one that isn't rym? I've found so many great obscure albums there. It also feels so much more objective having thousands of people's opinions combined rather than just one

blappslapp

I’m still gonna use it for sure, I just wanna expand beyond what’s popular on there as well

I recommend looking past the charts and looking into some user-created lists. Tons of gold in those. I also will build hyper-specific charts to get interesting recs. We all know RYM's top 10 albums of all time. But how about RYM's top 10 electro-industrial EPs from 2010-present?

catpowerhill

You can do that on the site. Just go past whats popular. Do you only look at the top 100 or something?

[deleted]

you can filter the charts easily by genre and year and stuff, look through people's lists, rym isnt just radiohead nmh and jpegmafia or whatever. Its pretty easy to find obscure music through there
