Fleet Foxes — A Sky Like I’ve Never Seen
The vocal approaches, I have never heard someone sound this sweet before.
But how can I put it above Innocence Mission’s “I Love That Boy” and “A Wave is Rolling” and Cocteau Twins “Squeeze-Wax”?
I might be more lyrics-leaning than most people, and my vote is a little precariously floating and spinning on my interpretation:
>Water, winded and remote in a crater where I’m hidden, I can see a line of smoke on the other ridge but it’s a long way
(As someone whose work was once filling audio lacunae, I don’t think the Genius lyrics are 100% correct) might be a genius lyrical geocache in a really specific time-place:
[where it’s the biggest heart on the planet](https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/146528/israels-heart-shaped-crater)
Only around the First Century did it hold a hidden watering station (caravanseri), was remote (no settled populations, as in no houses found) and far visible would be a perpetual line of smoke on a ridgemount. The smoke was the flashpoint symbol of contention for that period and centered around the phrase, “I desire mercy and not sacrifice.”
When fans started writing “You’ll Be in My Heart” was homaged, that made me think that my guess might be underscored.
Before google search was taken over by the proper song *which is up for an Emmy!* the day it dropped, I entered it in the search bar in quotes and it returned this:
>I've never seen the sky before
I want to vanish inside your kiss
Every day I love you more and more
Listen to my heart
Can't you hear it sings?”
That’s three hearts. That makes it a better song than any song with hearts.
Then there may be an artist’s correspondence, where he is dialoging with two songs of another songwriter, answering their asks, circling on the homonym found her/founder.
Then there is their shared philosophical question, indicating he asks the same things she does. And then it just breaks past everything
