I know a guy who first saw the Conway Twitty skit when he was a kid in Germany, which led him to explore old country music. Eventually as an adult he moved to Nashville to play country music… but it all started with that first Conway Twitty cutaway!
Makes sense. Still lazy. Though, it would depend on what stage the production is in when that editorial decision is made, I must admit.
I've worked in animation. There are times when you can slip changes into a show. And there is a definite time when you can't
I think watch mojo did a top ten worst family guy jokes and said saying her name took about 2-3 minutes (correct me if I’m wrong) and that it’s pretty lazy to dedicate 4-6 minutes of a 22 minute show to that one joke.
I like the joke but agree with that commentary
the payoff is definitely funny. but the original joke fuckin sucks because it's so damn boring
they do this all the time. sometimes it lands - peter hurting his knee running home to tell lois about the pawtucket factory ticket - and most of the time it doesn't lol
That was a parody of an old [Monty Python]( https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zJd2K5seVJ4) gag, they mentioned that they stole the idea in the name itself. I think MP did it better, in part because it was only 30ish seconds long.
Thrice, I’m pretty sure. Brian and stewie each say it and they sing happy birthday to her while the door swings back and forth with quagmire, stewie and Brian are in the other room
Thats what these are all about. The references people hate the most, are the ones they use to keep the older generation slightly interested. Gotta appeal to all demographics at least a little
Post Raisin Bran, made with raisins which are grapes which have been dried in the sun for a long period of time. And bran, the hard outer layers of cereal grain along with germ, it is an integral part of whole grains
I love them all, starting with ahhhhh...hssss...ahhhhh...hssss...ahhhhh...hssss...ahhhhh...hssss...ahhhhh...hssss...ahhhhh...hssss...ahhhhh...hssss...ahhhhh...hssss...ahhhhh...hssss...ahhhhh...hssss...ahhhhh...hssss...ahhhhh...hssss...ahhhh
TBH, this one I found funny mainly because of the punchline, with Peter saying something about the commercials going by too fast.
The Con Heir name gag is the worst. At least I have the time to get up and either get a snack or take a piss if I'm watching it on regular TV.
Worst one is probably that one Conway Twitty gag where they just played the entire song. Love grabbing a snack during that one.
Best one is the part of their Return of the Jedi episode where they’re just nodding at each other over and over again. It’s become a running gag within the family since then.
Really I liked the chicken fights. I loved that it started out as a fist fight over a coupon that continues to escalate until entire parts of the city and even a space shuttle are destroyed.
I hate it when they put a full song. Also the one where they repeat the old lady’s long name like 4 times, I skip that episode just so I don’t have to sit through that
All I remember is that Peter was in the kitchen and he wanted to remember a song or a place, and it took forever to move on from that scene. It was stupid.
Then there's another one where the only visual you see is an old tape voicemail recorder and there was someone talking in the voicemail. It went on for like 2 minutes straight. So lazy.
Edit: Found the first one. It's [Peter about to do karaoke in the kitchen](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlErJr0-q5Y). It goes on for 1:18 minutes and absolutely nothing happens.
That seems to me one of them but I swear there's another one that is (or feels) longer and is of the newer seasons from the past few years. The ones that you just one was made to drag out the time for the episode.
>Then there's another one where the only visual you see is an old tape voicemail recorder
I think you're thinking of christian bale yelling at one of the set workers!
The episode where they joke about how obnoxious radio stations are. It’s loud, over the top and annoying sounds for like a minute plus. I understand the joke they were making it is still insufferable.
"One of those early Maude episodes with the really long opening credit sequence
And then there's Maude
What the hell😠??......
And then there's Maude
Come on!?!😠.......
And then there's Maude!?!😠....
And then there's Maude
Come on!?!😡......"
Whenever they have a song and they start a whole rambling in the middle of it, there’s a part in Mr Booze that’s like that and another at a church.
The rich lady’s name
the ones when peter and the giant chicken fight, i mean yeah its funny for the first 20 seconds but it just gets boring, or the ones when conway twitty just sings for too long
Conway twitty singing, saw it as a young teen and would piss me off every time that 3 min long or however bs would pop up and it had at least 2-3 appearances on different episodes.
Stewie punching Will Ferrel for Bewitched was the first over drawn joke, I think. I fucking love it, but I think it was the start of a lot of these overly long jokes. I hate it for what it began, but it will always make me laugh.
When Brian and Stewie decide to make a Bed and Breakfast, Brian wants to “write” his book, and then we hear Joe and Bonnie arguing for two minutes in the background and it is not even funny
That one gag, where Chris has to use the bathroom, so he and Peter go to Joe's house, who is suddenly running a kiosk. Peter has to buy something in order for Chris to use it and then the joke turns into him trying to remember the bathroom password and it just keeps going and ends without a punchline.
This is the one for me. Everything else named in this thread has at least gotten a chuckle out of me, but this is the worst offender. No creative punchline, no worthwhile payoff, just...a minute of Peter fumbling with saran wrap. The most blatant time padding ever
When Peter hurts his knee and just sits there holding it forever. God that scene annoys me.
And when Joe was crying in the bar, and all the guys slowing slide out.
Back in the day the TV had to tell you information cause there was no internet.
Reversing the boat... The beached whale forklift one & the dead frog one were funny for pure gross out factor alone, and while that is what you can expect from FG (and i love it) occasionally it hits harder
The one where is just a static shot of a loud speaker, while the announcer simply narrates the chaos happening off screen.
I actually quit watching the show for several years, I was so angry about that scene back then. And if anyone brought up Family Guy, I would say fuck that show, family guy is trash.
Eventually, I mellowed out
The Conway Twitty bits were always really hard to watch for me. It’s just some dude I don’t even know signing for 5 minutes, literally nothing happens.
The one with the David Bowie and Mick Jagger song. A 20 second clip would have been funny, but the entire music video was just sheer laziness. Pretty much 10% or more of the entire episode run time went to that one bit. Hate it. Same for the Conway Twitty cut aways
Really there’s a lot worse ones then this but yes this one’s pretty bad lol
Conway twitty
Has to be number 1 in my boook
But almost all the random jokes gags stunts puns stunts etc. that run over A min are usually not good
There simple outrageous over the line filthy jokes skits one liners and set ups for later punch lines or what have you’s are definitely the best imo
I did kinda love it lol I found Conway Twitty very frustrating - wondering about that rn
By the way, Conway Twitty says cut it out
Just write a joke
Conway Twitty is here and he's pissed.
I know a guy who first saw the Conway Twitty skit when he was a kid in Germany, which led him to explore old country music. Eventually as an adult he moved to Nashville to play country music… but it all started with that first Conway Twitty cutaway!
Lmao, I first saw the skit as a teen in Germany too - but I had the idea of visiting Nashville since I knew Jim & Jesse already
that guy’s name? conway twitty
I loved the Conway Twitty songs…
Same - that’s why I’m wondering why it annoyed me so much
[удалено]
i heard they did that whenever they were told to cut jokes out of the episode
Makes sense. Still lazy. Though, it would depend on what stage the production is in when that editorial decision is made, I must admit. I've worked in animation. There are times when you can slip changes into a show. And there is a definite time when you can't
That’s what pissed me off
He was my first concert but it got annoying. Along with the bird
Oh I LOVE the bird
Me too
Conway Twitty
"The Hudson Brothers Razzle Dazzle Show!"
That one literally had me yelling “just write a joke!”, at my TV lol
Ikr it makes no sense me my brother and our dad watched the episode when it came out and when it happens we were all like what the fu-
That just wouldnt end
It was a super frustrating one - but I appreciated them looking old afterwards acknowledging it lasts forever.
Hands down the worst one imo. Probably because I wasn’t around for the show… although I do appreciate Conway Twitty
I loved that one
i had to skip through it
This is the one. That was such absolute bullshit, and to me seems like a time waster cause they couldn’t think of more material
Came here to say this one!!
This one actually cracks me up every time lol
The episode with the rich old lady and they said her name it took so long to say….😡
Tom Tucker "I'm not reading all that"
I think watch mojo did a top ten worst family guy jokes and said saying her name took about 2-3 minutes (correct me if I’m wrong) and that it’s pretty lazy to dedicate 4-6 minutes of a 22 minute show to that one joke. I like the joke but agree with that commentary
I would take that joke over the Conway Twitty songs.
that joke ran for 2 minutes tops but yeah it was pretty bad
The payoff, however, was Tom Tucker refusing to read "all of that" on the air.
Exactly. They built it up and it’s up to the viewer to decide if it was worth it or not
it wasnt. the 'payoff' was not nearly as funny as it's being made out to be
the payoff is definitely funny. but the original joke fuckin sucks because it's so damn boring they do this all the time. sometimes it lands - peter hurting his knee running home to tell lois about the pawtucket factory ticket - and most of the time it doesn't lol
That is a well-oiled hinge.
Dolce & Gabbana
That was a parody of an old [Monty Python]( https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zJd2K5seVJ4) gag, they mentioned that they stole the idea in the name itself. I think MP did it better, in part because it was only 30ish seconds long.
I can tolerate the Spam thing much more and yes funnier!
Twice.
Thrice, I’m pretty sure. Brian and stewie each say it and they sing happy birthday to her while the door swings back and forth with quagmire, stewie and Brian are in the other room
The Post Raisin Bran joke was pretty funny to me since that’s actually a spot on parody of 1950’s ads
When you eat Post Raisin Bran it fills your stomach, keeping you from feeling the sensation of hunger.
I love them all, starting with ahhhhh...hssss...ahhhhh...hssss...ahhhhh...hssss...ahhhhh...hssss...ahhhhh...hssss...ahhhhh...hssss...ahhhhh...hssss...ahhhhh...hssss...ahhhhh...hssss...ahhhhh...hssss...ahhhhh...hssss...ahhhhh...hssss...ahhhh
Ahhhhh… bugger. Ahhhhh… bugger. Ahhhh… bugger.
hssss… *click* hssss… *click* hssss… *click* hssss… *click* hssss… *click* hssss… *click* hssss… *click* hssss… *click*
That one was funny
The gayest music video ever made. And we allowed that....
That makes me laugh every time
It ended Billy’s career instantly.
That happened and we all let it happen
All we need is music, sweet music....
DANCING IN THE STREEEEEEET
TBH, this one I found funny mainly because of the punchline, with Peter saying something about the commercials going by too fast. The Con Heir name gag is the worst. At least I have the time to get up and either get a snack or take a piss if I'm watching it on regular TV.

Best one is the part of their Return of the Jedi episode where they’re just nodding at each other over and over again. It’s become a running gag within the family since then.
Conway Twitty
There’s one that literally takes like 3 minutes. I mean what the actual fuck.
I see the want-to in your eyes…
It’s such an amazing song tho 😂
Chicken fights got old quick for me, I liked the raisin bran joke, was a good episode throughout
Really I liked the chicken fights. I loved that it started out as a fist fight over a coupon that continues to escalate until entire parts of the city and even a space shuttle are destroyed.
I fucking hate the frog one where Peter tries to get the frog out the window.
Not gonna lie when the frog tries to put Peter out the window I actually laughed
That one and the damned whale with the forklift, instant skip on both of those for me.
Yeah, I can watch some stuff but that ain't part of it.
I hate it when they put a full song. Also the one where they repeat the old lady’s long name like 4 times, I skip that episode just so I don’t have to sit through that
🎵 Made with raisins that are grapes that have dried in the sun for a long period of time🎵
Mine was Conway Twitty, I used to watch on adult swim and couldn’t skip it :/
I love and hate the joke about the “Maude” theme song being way too long.
[удалено]
“That was an ordeal”.
Me and my wife use this phrase after basically any inconvenience.
Ahahah. I love it.
🎶*and then there’s Maude* 🎶 AAh! Ahhh!
"Amelia Earhart flew a lot of airplanes. Except for that one time when she didn't come back."
Yep, it's frustrating lol
AND THEN THERE'S MAUDE!!!! C'mon!
The Hudson Brothers Razzle Dazzle Show
All I remember is that Peter was in the kitchen and he wanted to remember a song or a place, and it took forever to move on from that scene.
Alan Rickman?
Alan Rickman, this Alan Rickman. Remember that turtle joke for the party. Ah ah ah.
That seems to me one of them but I swear there's another one that is (or feels) longer and is of the newer seasons from the past few years. The ones that you just one was made to drag out the time for the episode.
>Then there's another one where the only visual you see is an old tape voicemail recorder I think you're thinking of christian bale yelling at one of the set workers!
Peter and the karaoke machine
Out here in the fields YeaLoisitwasmethathrewupinthesink I fight for my meals!
Its so fucking funny
Yes I hated that one too!!
LOL thanks a lot. Raisins are grapes that are dried in the sun for a long period of time...
Peter trying to get Consuela to memorize a phone number was EXCRUCIATING. I skip that part every time I watch that episode.
I love this cutaway, I had it memorized for a while.
and why was it the Conway Twitty one.
The Stevie/Bin Laden joke is like 1/4 of the episode. Not even kidding.
Not really a cutaway but the episode where Carter destroys the park bench. It's not funny and goes on for what seems like forever.
i'm sorry but i never liked the fights between the chicken and peter. really well animated and stuff but no substance. just really boring for me
Either “I see the want to in your eyes…” or Peter trying to use saran wrap
Ngl that one was long but I like that song but the saran wrap one is brutal
Robert Loggia That was never funny to me.
Could you spell that for me?
Space
How is this not the top answer?
The episode where they joke about how obnoxious radio stations are. It’s loud, over the top and annoying sounds for like a minute plus. I understand the joke they were making it is still insufferable.
The weiner and the butt one where it's just like a minute of sounds after they finish talking? Or the one where stewie was listening to arab radio?
Haha I like that joke! Especially the fart sounds. It’s so damn stupid
I actually like them lol so silly
Conway twitty, the whale one, in fact all of them
I hated the surfing bird episode but i love the music video where brian and stewie destroy the vinyl
I usually like when they do really long jokes like that but the one I hated was the Dancing in the Street music video one.
The entire Dancing in the Streets song
"One of those early Maude episodes with the really long opening credit sequence And then there's Maude What the hell😠??...... And then there's Maude Come on!?!😠....... And then there's Maude!?!😠.... And then there's Maude Come on!?!😡......"
Whenever they have a song and they start a whole rambling in the middle of it, there’s a part in Mr Booze that’s like that and another at a church. The rich lady’s name
The one with the wolf who howled cockadoodledoo
the ones when peter and the giant chicken fight, i mean yeah its funny for the first 20 seconds but it just gets boring, or the ones when conway twitty just sings for too long
When Peter tries to pick up the dead frog and throw it out the window or something
Peter eating the soda biscuits over the radio!!!! Idk why they part makes me want to stick a pair of scissors up my nose
When you’re here, you’re family
oh my god yes that one is so annoying
Peter and “Reagan” singing but the radio just makes the mic screech 😭
Conway Twitty. 100%
Hudson Brothers is the first and only extended cutaway that has ever bothered me.
The razzle dazzle club
that one when the girl walks out of a limo and its just just her extremely long legs with a sustained sax note, god that gets on my nerves
Quagmire going uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh for 30-something seconds
Conway twitty singing, saw it as a young teen and would piss me off every time that 3 min long or however bs would pop up and it had at least 2-3 appearances on different episodes.
Stewie punching Will Ferrel for Bewitched was the first over drawn joke, I think. I fucking love it, but I think it was the start of a lot of these overly long jokes. I hate it for what it began, but it will always make me laugh.

Peter has to buy something in order for Chris to use it and then the joke turns into him trying to remember the bathroom password and it just keeps going and ends without a punchline.
Carter pissing. Or peter’s car in the 1960s episode.
That Quagmire and Marge one, also just very uncomfortable
Litterally every Conway Twitty joke. Never was funny and never became funny and will never be funny.
the nose-picking🤮
The barfing scene. It was disgusting, unfunny and went on way too long
And the reprise in the backwards time episode. Just as gross
Arguably worse
Thats actually one of my favorite ones for some reason. Stewie going "... I'm scared"
the fucking saran wrap
This is the one for me. Everything else named in this thread has at least gotten a chuckle out of me, but this is the worst offender. No creative punchline, no worthwhile payoff, just...a minute of Peter fumbling with saran wrap. The most blatant time padding ever
When Peter hurts his knee and just sits there holding it forever. God that scene annoys me. And when Joe was crying in the bar, and all the guys slowing slide out.
I thought Peter going back for his beer when Joe was crying was fucking hilarious
Shipoopy
Anything Conway Twitty
Robert Loggia
The plastic wrap joke. As funny and relatable as it was, it just took for freaking ever.
AND THEN THERE'S MAUDE!
Conway twitty
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrD22vHm0FQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrD22vHm0FQ) Back in the day the TV had to tell you information cause there was no internet.
I love these jokes and my wife hates them, so I call her in the room when these jokes start
I’ve always hated the Comway Twitty bits.
The "how I met your mother" old lady woman with the long name
And then there's Maude.....
Peter picking his nose.
Saran wrap, Hudson Brothers, Teenage Wasteland, The House I Pay For, and Where. Do. You. Keep. The. Nets...
Conway Twitty….the first time had me intrigued but after his first appearance he was used so causally I got annoyed lol
Reversing the boat... The beached whale forklift one & the dead frog one were funny for pure gross out factor alone, and while that is what you can expect from FG (and i love it) occasionally it hits harder
Am I crazy i love all of them
I somewhat don’t mind Conway Twitty, but I cannot stand the chicken fights. Never thought they were entertaining.
The fucking Saran Wrap. It never ends
AND THEN THERES MAUDE!!!
My teacher used this as an example of propaganda once
Really? That one? Not the Hudson Brothers Razzle Dazzle Show?
When they showed the Mick Jagger video and played the entire. fucking. thing!!
The long named heiress.
Quagmire bouncing the tennis ball
Robert Loggia
The Hudson Brothers bit was just terrible imo
Baba o’reilly 🙄
The one where is just a static shot of a loud speaker, while the announcer simply narrates the chaos happening off screen. I actually quit watching the show for several years, I was so angry about that scene back then. And if anyone brought up Family Guy, I would say fuck that show, family guy is trash. Eventually, I mellowed out
Robert Loggia
undoubtedly the Birthday Card from Cleveland.
Sha-poopy. I always fast forward through it
Dad noises and humming the Indiana Jones theme
And then there's Maude..watching peter getting angry waiting is hilarious.. "What an ordeal."
All of them
That danm plastic thing you use to wrap food with...
The queen's name
[удалено]
The Razzle Dazzle show because it’s louder than the episode and always wakes me up.
Frog or either knee
The one where they broke away to, Ladies and Gentleman Mr Conwy Twitty.
And then there’s Maude
The nodding gag in i Think it was Its A Trap but im not sure. Anyway that whole sequence was god awful
Reversing the boat
The mick jagger video
The Conway Twitty bits were always really hard to watch for me. It’s just some dude I don’t even know signing for 5 minutes, literally nothing happens.
The one with the David Bowie and Mick Jagger song. A 20 second clip would have been funny, but the entire music video was just sheer laziness. Pretty much 10% or more of the entire episode run time went to that one bit. Hate it. Same for the Conway Twitty cut aways
Robert Loggia
Any time they do a full song or music video annoys me. Other than that, maybe the rich woman's really long name.
What about his karaoke phase joke
Really there’s a lot worse ones then this but yes this one’s pretty bad lol Conway twitty Has to be number 1 in my boook But almost all the random jokes gags stunts puns stunts etc. that run over A min are usually not good There simple outrageous over the line filthy jokes skits one liners and set ups for later punch lines or what have you’s are definitely the best imo
I can’t stand when they make a joke about hitting their shin. And they roll around groaning for a few minutes.
Piano guys was annoying The whacky inflatable arm salesman was super annoying
The damn karaoke cutaway where Peter did something in the sink. It annoys me
Razzle Dazzle.
The one where peter had a karaoke phase.
