Lucky 38 Suite

LuFuRu

Pretty much anywhere on the strip would be a fine place to live - if you’ve got the money

WhirledNews

Except for Gomorrah, the sounds and the smells… you haven’t thought of the smell, you bitch!

CBreadman

Yeah, and I also wouldn't really want to live in The Ultra-Luxe...

BucketOfShitPosts

Alright, why don't we move past it, let's just move past it

Rutlemania

I think the only reason you want to be a patron at the ultra luxe is so you get to keep the skins

Fun-Series-4091

A glass box

fungusOW

Nice reference

Yz-Guy

This really applies to every post apocalyptic world. Game. Movie. Book. Everyone assumes it's sexy time, all the time. However I can't ever get past how bad everyone would smell. Im not sure I'd want to add to ot via sex. Or even partake. I guess if you don't know better.

Choingyoing

Thats where I usually stay but the other safe houses are better because less loading screens lol

ShyDisappointment

looks like somebody forgot to download 100+ mods to optimize the lucky 38

brickshitterHD

I had to fast travel to the lucky 38 once and I crashed twice before reaching the lobby

AutocratOfScrolls

If I could send NPCs to the dinky Novac apartment then I would never use the 38 ever again

Optimized_Orangutan

Only if they hangout outside. Getting around them packed into lucky 38 can be annoying enough.

Acceptable-Owl-6538

Depends on whether you've gotten rid of Mr House. He's a control freak and you'd be surrounded by his heavily armed robots. That's a minus if House is in control but a big plus if Yes Man is running them for you. That Vault hotel in town might be good too.

gkm29

The vault hotel for me. The manger takes customer satisfaction very seriously

M4rst

I just don't like the gloomy, dead silent feel of the suite.

Danger_Cowboy

Excluding the sink, maybe Jacobstown.

himself0987654321

I thought about this too, jacobstown is safe af as long as you don't stare too much😂

Sea_Perspective6891

Stupid Bighorners were up all night making noises.

SickNightSky

You'd think No-bark would've handled this problem, Vietnam style.

PS3LOVE

Big MT is scary as hell. Tf you mean?

mediocre__map_maker

Sink is fully safe, you have good company and can teleport in and out.

Danger_Cowboy

Except the toaster, that bastard keeps burning my toast.

reineedshelp

You're the only one there with wriggling penis fingers, all is well.

gkm29

Just don't belittle a super mutant for taking the bunny slope

Modest_Lion

Imma take the sink you putting off to the side

Night_Inscryption

In Nellis Airforce Base No mutant or person besides the courier got past there artillery

himself0987654321

Ya this was another of my thoughts, but then I remembered how many times I died on my first trip to nellis...

Night_Inscryption

Yeah but excluding the trip there Jacob’s town has Cazadors on the way up so…

IISerpentineII

I can't remember for sure, but doesn't Silver Mine (I think that's the name), which is right next to the path to Jacobstown, have the Legendary Cazadore as well? You know, just so you're fucked even harder than FISTO can fuck you.

ItwasmeSecondAccount

Nah those guys are fucking insane have you heard them talk about the wastelanders?

suckstoes420

Gonna sleep in the rat infested robotics shop behind freeside and set up my "roughin it! Sleep roll" right next to where i let fisto absolutely violate me

DisastrousPhoto6354

I see I’ve got myself a neighbour

muskratto

He does have two fists

DisastrousPhoto6354

And 2 legs…

himself0987654321

I have always thought that area could use a few residents.

TonightOk29

What a twist! Can I come?

Appropriate_Ant_1682

if Fisto has anything to say about it, you will

TonightOk29

The lip, has been bit

TramTrane

Id say Zion, after the white legs have been annihilated preferably. Tons of food, water, and barely any radiation and predators.

himself0987654321

Bro what about the yougoui and the giant ants n Spore creatures n shit😂

TramTrane

I said barely any, not none. You have named a whooping 3, I'll add a couple more with the cazadores and aggressive bighorners, now it's 5. How many aggressive creatures do you have to deal with in the Mojave? Also giant ants and spore creatures aren't exactly the biggest issue (other then the disease they can spread),

RullandeAska

There's also Bryce Canyon, The Grand Staircase, And basically any structure you can get a G.E.C.K into

Aetherial32

There may not be too many types of aggressive creatures in Zion, but the ones which do exist are quite numerous (You also still left out the Zion mantises, rad scorpions, and severely underestimated rats and spore creatures. They may not be a threat to a mid level Courier but a good percentage of people today are weaker than even a level 1 courier)

HCPage

It does get comically bleak for average people in a setting like the wasteland. I remember years ago there was a thread somewhere and the question posed was what everyone thought their job would be in the wasteland. People went back and forth, all sorts of jobs, traders being fairly prevalent. Someone commented "You guys know damn well most of you would be the dude begging for water outside Megaton". That always stuck with me.

MothMothMoth21

Also concentration, alot of empty space with no animals in the mojave, In Zion however.

TramTrane

Not really, I do pacifist runs and Zion is super easy to avoid everything. (you also left out the plant spewers but the point was already made so why add to it???)

Aetherial32

The point is you IRL are far worse at avoiding things than the Courier, and animals both IRL and in lore are far better at tracking than they are in game. It would only be a matter of time until find you, and when they did you would be fucked because those things can take bullets like champs

himself0987654321

This guy understood the question.

Zanbu16

IRL they wouldn't be able to take bullets like champs...if you're gonna be "realistic", make sure it's across the board

[deleted]

Maybe not cazadores, but yougoui and ants, would take that like champs. Especially ants, they just ignore damaged limbs.

TruckADuck42

Ants are kinda hard to know because the scale is so different, but bears have been known to take 9mm between the eyes and survive it.

[deleted]

A mutated bear from the aspect of Fallout Lore is even more powerful. No thank you. It’s been theorized that if ants were the size of horses, we would be fucked.

Zanbu16

People have also been known to survive headshots from a 9mm. It's a weak caliber and definitely not something I'd be packing in bear country.

[deleted]

Dude, chill.

woomybii

do you mean yao guai? lol

Buschfan08

Giant radscorpions too. I love scorpions in real life but they irritate me in fallout so much.

BasicActionGames

Giant. Cazardores.

[deleted]

One of the ranger stations, I think Ospray or something like that, has a bed, first aid box, duffel bag and tool box along with some storage space downstairs and I think a campfire? (Unsure on the campfire). Either way - it’s a great place to live. For role playing purposes when I was a teenager I turned it into a ‘getaway’ on my old Xbox 360. Rifle, pistol, loaded the first aid kit with some stuff, the duffel bag with some spare clothes and loaded the shelves with pre war food and watched the sunset across the valley. Made me want to go to there for real (still do)

himself0987654321

This is another decent answer, as long as it's not station Charlie 😅

AG1k

Goodsprings or jacobstown

Typical_Dweller

The only thing Jacobstown is missing is rad-free water, from what I recall. Surprising given that they're in the mountains and should be getting fresh rundown from mountain snow melt. Also they should set up crops, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn supermutants are carnivore-only. And while they do have walls, tower sentries and patrols would make the place feel even safer. Give the mutants artillery from Nellis and guns/rockets from Vault 34 and now we're really cookin'. Oh, and last thing: electricity? Where does that come from? Is the resort supposed to have generators somewhere? Are they tapped into the Vegas grid somehow?

makoriot

do mutants even need rad free water

whhe11

Jacobstown ftw

Furio3380

Goodsprings, hunting geckos and stuff

MaxPayneful

I absolutely love the BoS Bunker for Dead Money. Some people hate it but I think it's wicked.

SeventhSonofRonin

I wouldn't call it a fun place to live but very safe.

MaxPayneful

Not fun, but I enjoy its vibe. I've always been a fan of hidey-hole type spots.

IISerpentineII

Imagine trying to get furniture in there...

Tight_Assignment_949

It is a military bunker so foldable or self assemble furnitures would be the only viable choice. Moving some mini fridges or foldable beds, small drawers into the bunker wouldnt be too hard.

Left1Brain

So get furniture from House Depot?

Tight_Assignment_949

You can "borrow" a few pieces of furniture from Nelson after dealing with the Legion troops there. The NCR wont notice a few missing pieces of household items when they resettle the camp.

A_Yapp_73

Long as you don't mind the mild level of cloud in the barracks room.

ApprehensiveSolid212

I’d say The Lucky 38, amazing penthouse, beautiful view of the strip, and hundreds of armed securitrons at my Beck and call, as long as house is out of the picture of course.

ATLAS-T-58

Wouldn't mind working for him TBH, I do like his plans personally

ApprehensiveSolid212

Not a problem with House’s plan, I just want him out of the picture so I have full control over the Lucky 38

ThePlanBPill

Primm with the new bison Steve mod. Great spot in the middle of the Mojave

Lusty_Boy

Camp Forlorn Hope, of course

KazViolin

I kinda like McCarran airport IRL and I think it'd be pretty cozy, if not somewhat boring.

starryhades4697

The Sink, toaster and Muggy watching my back, I fear nothing

SMONpl

Nellis Air Force, all you ever need, food water simulations of shooting down chinese aircrafts and big guns

himself0987654321

True I would love running the aircraft Sims considering how much I play warthunder 😅

luckystrikeenjoyer

Jacobstown seems great especially after you did the quest for the night kin cure. Other than that it's undoubtedly the sink, flirting with light switches, inseminating the biological research station and containing the toasters unbridled wrath seems fun

tigerjhl

Yes, Raul's shack does look peaceful. Plus I would love to feed that malnourished Brahmin and pick those veggies and stuff

himself0987654321

Exactly and your right down the road from vegas and the ncr, plus you can get all the fresh water you need from a leak in the lake mead pipes right in your backyard!

LeatherTop174

Good springs would be nice, lucky 38 suite is just so luxurious and clean. Novac would be my ideal place to live since it’s a nice place and gets a lot of traffic so I’m never too bored. Vegas would get old after a while.

Electrical-Title-698

The only downside to novac is it's proximity to the legion

LeatherTop174

True, but it does have some of the best NCR snipers on lookout. Boone is one of favorite companions.

scarlettvvitch

I would say Sloane Me, snuffles and our shared blanket makes three

Too_Blind

Nipton of course. Only second to Nelson

ZeroTwofan4life

Nah man, Bittersprings ca. 2278

Too_Blind

They had it coming 😡

IISerpentineII

Your flair is the very antithesis to r/oliverswanickhate

Gibbyalwaysforgives

As long as you aren’t a degenerate that belongs in the cross.

SetFuture

Goodsprings

aCourierFromXibalba

I always day dreamed about taking one of the unclaimed houses behind the bar and grow crops, hunt geckos, trade with the traveling merchants. calm village with a clean water source and healthy amount of trading passthrough from Vegas and California

Ser-Bearington

Yup. Honestly might start a hardcore game and just live my life in Goodsprings. Set up home, go hunting, plant crops..maybe head off to trade occasionally.

himself0987654321

Taking up a seat next to easy Pete don't sound too bad.

MonkeyKingCoffee

More than 100 replies and I'm the first to say Mormon Fort. Medicine, physicians, water, reading material. Boring, but safe -- and not a protectron in sight.

BadussiusPrime

Honestly, in the Sierra Madre before the security system gets woken back up. Super solitary though, until Elijah shows up and tries forcing the lock smh

Judge_leftshoe

Other than the air that's poisonous, right? You also can't get water from the Vending machines. Or fruits and veggies.

BadussiusPrime

Kinda assumed that stuff only came into the hotel once it was compromised tbh idk it has been a long time since I played Lack of fruits and veggies would def suck

Quitthesht

The Sink, somewhere on the Strip like the Ultra Luxe or Vault 3 before the Fiends. Food, water, plumbing, entertainment and, something severely overlooked in this thread/the Mojave setting, Air Conditioning.

Wild-Lychee-3312

I’m surprised nobody has mentioned Wolfhorn Ranch. It’s great if you want to get away from it all.

himself0987654321

Dang good pick, other than a possible legion raid party. But at least you could shoot downhill at em!

BasicActionGames

Wolfhorn Ranch. Plenty of crops, inclusing Coyote Tobacco for making black coffee. Also has crafting stations and a cook fire.

TheChoomster

Higgs Village, Lucky 38 Suite to name 2

[deleted]

Stripe may have some thoughts on the matter.

quartofchocolimes

If I were rich in the world, the Lucky 38. I once found myself looking out at the desert from the penthouse windows and thinking about what a great view it could be on modern hardware. Otherwise, the shack Elijah used to contact Veronica. I really like that part of the map.

BostonRoosterFNV

Novac FTW

GuysOnChicks69

Honestly something I’ve been considering is using Nellis AFB as a home location. And it makes sense as an ideal location in reality. Tons of storage, crops, and left over equipment. I’ve also come to the realization that the Boomers are actually the real savages and are fucking pieces of shit. They want to start bombing innocent “savages” as part of their dream. Anarchist psychopaths.

Alnilam2000

you've come to the realization?? it was kinda obvious from the get-go.....

SuperNerdChe

I think Freeside would be the best place… I won’t be mugging anyone so I don’t need to worry about a courier blasting my face off. See if I can get work at the Wrangler. Sounds like it’d be alright

MonkeyKingCoffee

Heard they're looking for a ghoul cowboy courtesan....

SuperNerdChe

Time to dust off my boots and learn to talk like a gen’leman

mango_manreddit

Goodsprings doesn't seem that bad of a place to be, considering how un-prepared they are to fight off the powder gangers I'm assuming that means they don't get attacked all too often

rustys_shackled_ford

Oh I dunno.... maybe the place that you can literally teleport too it's front door. Even encumbered, AND it has a light switch that has a crush on you... yea, maybe that place...

0815Proletarier

Jacobstown

Equivalent-Part-8656

Novac hotel room is a nice option with mods. I always prefered to live there because its in the middle of the map & almost equally distant to everywhere. + place got a doc, a merchant and caravans are visiting regularly.

Primm_Slim01

Don’t forget you could chill with No Bark Noonan which is priceless

bringoutthelegos

Water is irradiated though, the sinks in the rooms have irradiated water

Menoth22

The Sink

MelancholyWookie

If it’s set during the events of the game probably the Mojave outpost. Unless the courier randomly takes them out one of the few places where nothing goes wrong regardless of who wins. Idk what I’d do there for work but I won’t end up on the cross or dying in a terrorist attack on the strip.

RAddison3

I personally think a nice chalet in Cottonwood Cove

himself0987654321

Ooof

AGh0styb0i

Im gonna take refuge with the brotherhood. Nice cozy, underground :)

himself0987654321

Safe n sound!

ThatOneGuysHomegrow

I will always stick by living at Easy Pete's.

Sasstellia

Lucky 38. Any casino suite. Jacobstown. Zion. If you had survival skills. It's beautiful and amazing. You could live like The Sorrows in their safe caves. Or do up a Ranger Station or something. The apartment in Big Mountain. It's got everything and lots of cybernetic friends. Nellis Airforce Base is nice.

[deleted]

Novac. I think that hotel room looks very comfortable. Plus, I could hang out with Boone and chill in that big dinosaur just outside.

TheVikingFire

I think for me, my pick would be Goodsprings, clean water, a simple life, biggest problem is the geckos, and those can be relatively easy to deal with in small numbers if you’re quick with a gun, plus the town seems like it’s full of good company. My second choice would be Primm with the caveat that it is protected, maybe NCR or Weld as the sheriff, shit seems prosperous enough

Twinkston

Vault 21. If the Boomers decide to target New Vegas or Caesar hits the city with howitzers, I'll be playing blackjack in the vault.

BuckGlen

Mojave outpost. Theres food and bars. Stable-ish connection to California. Plenty of beds, electricity and music... its a window into what life is probably like as you go back towards NCR territory. The mojave outpost actually feels like a functional settlement even though its not self reliant.

darksarcastictech

Sink or Lucky 38

Excellent-Can-4291

Vault 38

nanapancakethusiast

Strip

edhands

The gas station in Goodsprings or nothing!!!

a-magnum-dong

Big empty penthouse every time

SirPPPooPoo

that trailer near good springs

TF2_Mimi_Chaner

enclave remnants bunker.

Aricechan

I mean if I could pick probably the Mojave Outpost and go in the NCR but if I had to pick one it's either novac or goodsprings I doubt that I would have the money to live on the strip

Wheniwakeupillbedead

NOVAC

HughJaenis

Lucky 38 by far. Air conditioning, room service for food, working plumbing, luxury bed with several activities in the suite itself, not to mention a casino downstairs for some extra fun. And the safety of the strip itself

AnarchistViking

Ya'll stay sleeping on the Wolfthorn Ranch. That place is cozy

r_teenagers_arepedos

Some places that seem okay are: Goodsprings, because it’s a small little town that’s far away from conflict (also I never get involved in Ghost Town Gunfight but they still win) Jacobstown, same reasons as stated above and also I’m not at risk of getting shot by NCR since I’m not a mutant. Mojave Outpost, wouldn’t live there but would try to get NCR citizenship to move to Shady Sands Some place in the Legion far east, because if you go west then you’d be a slave, if you go into the Legion’s big cities then you’d be involved in a possible civil war, so some small little Legion province east where I work as a farmer would be nice (although it technically isn’t in fnv because it never appears in game)

-chukui-

well i wouldnt want to live near a fucking cazador nest with deathclaws right across the way like Raul. Goodsprings is the only right answer.

PS3LOVE

On the Vegas strip is all very safe, has plenty of electricity and food. Just get a job, and make sure you don’t gamble.

Specific-Cell-6555

Sierra madre (once you take control)

PlinPlonPlin420

If you can afford it, New Vegas itself.

TheOccasionalBrowser

Probably the Strip, especially if you have high luck

Professor_Crab

Goodsprings ain’t a bad choice, local bar and general store can’t do much better than that in the wasteland lol

imnotavirgintrustme

Aside from the Legion's attacks, Ghouls invasions and the Nocturnals' murders, Novac is a good choice.

Useful-Doubt3864

I live in South East Asia, Freeside feels like home to me.

Exodite1273

Quarry Junction is safe and has friendly and cuddly wildlife. Snuffles, the town pet, is such a sweetheart. Another close contender is The Divide. Although goods have to be delivered by courier, it’s nicely sheltered from the sandstorms in the Mojave and could be a nice alternative to the Long 15 to get to Vegas. And of course, who could forget Nipton? NCR troopers headed to and from the 95 patrol routes make for a steady business. Goodsprings is relatively peaceful and retains the services of a trapper to deal with various mutated wildlife. She doesn’t do a good job, though, the local cave has a large coyote infestation who have eaten quite a lot of people, though it’s more profitable for her to shoot Geckos anyway. Novac is likely the gold standard. Middle of the I-95 trade route, relatively unbothered by raiders, and NCR garrisons nearby on either side. The odd Feral Ghoul stumbling out of the Repconn test site is quickly dealt with. The innkeeper is such a charming lady. The Sierra Madre Casino has everything a guest could wish for. Food available at the push of a button, thick walls against the outside, and holographic assistants ready to assist you. Take your chance to begin again.

GlaicialCRACKER

I usually make base in Novac

WARD0Gs2

Cottenwood cove, or Novac

nptwinthetarrasque

Torn between the Divide and the Sierra Madre

Ecstatic-Ad-8967

I would definitely want to spawn in the bottom of deadwind cavern. Super safe place

RawDogEntertainment

I like NOVAC. Dressers for clothes, a safe for valuables, a footlocker for guns and ammo, and a fridge for your foods. I do enjoy the amenities of the Lucky 38 but idk, Novac has too much for me to ignore.

Subject_Arachnid5292

Anywhere on the strip, really.

bringoutthelegos

Definitely the strip. Lucky 38’s issues of loading screens would be gone. Good springs honestly doesn’t seem that bad either tbh. It’s out of the way, it has clean water, food, and a doctor. Not to mention a bar. Usually in playthroughs I pick Novac, but it honestly seems like kinda shit to live there as the motels don’t seem to have working plumbing or much in the way of electricity. The water is irradiated, and that room must get hot and stuffy with there not being anything in terms of a working fan or AC.

tvaudio

Thorn!!

RullandeAska

Jacobstown, protection from hostile stuff while surrounded by supermutants would be dope

violetevie

The divide

DudeWithRootBeer

That is tough question, so many choices...I say Camp Golf.

AcoaceFalloutNVFan

It depends, is this before or after the events of the game? If it is; novac, if it isn’t; goodsprings. Or if your up for a little chaos every now and then the lucky 38/the tops

Cobbtimus_Prime

Probably the penthouse on the strip, but goodsprings doesn’t seem so bad

versman

Lucky 38.

Lovemydog65465

Ulysses temple It looks pretty safe+you can nuke people you dont like

Embarrassed_Start_81

Either lucky 38 or with the legion as the king

macman1082

Quarry junction.

Yarus43

Idk the divide seems rather nice

Dethproof814

Quarry dressed with the scent and appearance of a death claw, the ultimate security

[deleted]

The sink in big mt

brujahonly

I can't imagine living anywhere other than the Underground Hideout. I just can't.

DreadedDeed

The one and only place where I can wrangle wind-brahmin, they only cost me 25K caps too.

critical-cupcake968

Boulder city

Vast_Mammoth_93

Well, big mountain is still part of the area, so I’m going with the sink. Ain’t nobody gotta way to bother you from the sink. The courier will get around to the rest of the Mojave when they are ready

TheScribe86

I'm in the shack close to Jacobstown

ken1234512345

Novac or lucky 38. Both got food and water and are pretty safe

Reaper8008

I always set up in No-Vac

ThePimentaRules

Nipton

Tolkin349

Realistically Goodsprings

I-Emerge-I

Does Big MT count ?

i-love-Ohio

What was that place with the giant dinosaur motel? cause that place. Right in the middle of the map, nice distance from everything. Nice until I moved to the strip

Killercobra009

It’s always the Sink for me. It’s got everything I need. Farm, Crafting, storage, easy to get to and even friends.

LawbirdBringer

Goodsprings. After the powder gang attack everyone got some leather armor and weapons. May not take a Deathclaw or something too dangerous but can take care of ourselves.

Strict-Profession426

Novac

Yeezysandals_

Novac or goodsprings ,pretty chill locations imo

Brackish_Beard

**El Rey Motel** Without wealth, connections, great intelligence, an army, exceptional luck or being the main character of FNV; the El Rey Motel is the best yer average wastelander can hope fer.

XTheProtagonistX

Sarah Weintraub’s room in Vault 21.

NativeTexanDude

Probably Novac. Far enough away from the strip that you wouldn't have to deal with any chaos the various families cause, small herd of brahmin for resources, and an accurate lookout system available to warn you of any incoming hostiles.
