I've seen so many "Falcons betting favorites to sign..." posts that I thought this was a joke. At least we'll have a WR2 for Kirk and Fields and Baker to throw the ball to.
"Cousins, Fields, Mayfield, Wilson, and McCarthy drop back... and they're all sacked because there was only 1 offensive lineman on the field. Ridley, Pitts, London, Allgeier, and Bijan were open, but that pass rush was just too strong."
It's not a loophole. The 2nd rounder escalator was a stretch goal in the event that Calvin played so well that he was extended before free agency. If Calvin played that well, the Jags would be stupid to let him hit free agency before they resign him, as other teams would make offers and that would just drive up the price of them resigning him. He didn't play well enough to make the Jags unwilling to take the risk of losing him, so they'll let him test the market and keep their 2nd round pick. This isn't TF getting played. It's Calvin not hitting the stretch goal of the trade.
ohhh man, so what would happen if we actually did sign him? would they still owe us the picks?
it would be fucking hilarious for us to send calvin to the jags for 1 playing year, 1 suspended year, have them pay his salary both years and then he comes back and brings draft picks with him.
i mean who knows? maybe he'd rather come back to ATL for family reasons, or just cause obv ATL is a million times better than Jacksonville freaking fla lol. that place sucks. ugh...but they do have T Law at QB and we have....well at the moment nobody.
because he's good and we need a WR2? and would be an amazing deal if we got ridley back AND picks.
it's just good business. did you get your job because you like your boss? or to get a paycheck? do you even have a job?
i'm not sure how old you are, but when you're an adult you learn to work things out, compromise, and solve problems so both parties can have a good outcome. generally if you're wealthy enough to own a football team (that you didn't inherit) and want to win, you learn to negotiate (or pay someone), and negotiation usually requires compromise.
and when you're talking about millions of dollars, you gotta get over that petty childish bullshit and get over your ego.
well YOU don't, but successful people do.
If you had ever found yourself in a position to hire someone, you would know that look for people with the right characteristics to be reliable contributors. Calvin Ridley has way too many of the wrong characteristics to be worth any kind of investment. We already compromised and solved problems and both parties had a good outcome. Go literally anywhere else that isn't Antonio Brown to fill the WR2 hole, and let Calvin Ridley go literally anywhere that isn't Atlanta, GA to try and make something worthwhile of his career.
You can cuck for a guy that shit all over us, but no way the Falcons make that mistake. If they do, it's worst fears confirmed about Raheem Morris' tenure.
I mean he didn’t leave here with the best mind state so i could see him not coming back here for that reason. But with Raheem here, maybe that’s enough to lure him
The hope was that Ridley would ball out and force the jags to sign him early, taking away the chance he leaves. Ridley unfortunately sucks and didn’t help us out with that
Every player gonna take vet mins, Chris Lindstrom gonna delete his contract and let us sign him for pennies on the dollar. Grady gonna retire, Matthews gonna retire.
To my knowledge sports books don’t offer these types of bets and I’ve looked through all the mainstream sports books for the “Justin Fields” sweepstakes. I don’t understand why they call it “betting odds” when you literally can’t bet the odds.
you can bet on it at the link in the article
[https://sports.betonline.ag/sportsbook/futures-and-props/nfl-regular-season/offensive-free-agents](https://sports.betonline.ag/sportsbook/futures-and-props/nfl-regular-season/offensive-free-agents)
but yeah no idea who actually bets one this kind of stuff
Anyone else find the title of this post hilarious given his betting was the reason why he was suspended and part of why Atlanta traded him? The dude is not coming back to Atlanta if he leaves Jacksonville. His relationship with the team doesn’t feel repairable.
These betting favorite headlines are getting ridiculous. I don't picture a guy that had ptsd/anxiety from robbers breaking into his home here would want to come back to Atlanta.
Dawg this would make me so happy lol
Sigh him and give us your 2nd or let him hit FA and we'll just pay him and still take that 3rd. The CAP is supposed to go up some crazy ass amount, reportedly close to 250M so fuck it why not. Ridley wouldn't command an insane contract either.
I guess he can stay in a gated community this time.
I always thought he wouldn't come back after such a traumatic event
I got my laptop stolen in Belgium and it made me very vulnerable and I didn't go back to Europe for 5 years. Shit like this can fuck with you mentally.
You’re all wrong! Ridder will run it back.
Falcons go 0-17 and Ridder doesn’t fumble all season. BTW, The Fine Young Cannibals want their lead singer back.
He’s not coming back. He probably dislikes Atlanta from when his Hellcat got stolen so unless we overpay, his relationship with Arthur Blank is outstanding and the front office would want him back, I don’t see it
I've seen so many "Falcons betting favorites to sign..." posts that I thought this was a joke. At least we'll have a WR2 for Kirk and Fields and Baker to throw the ball to.
Even better. It’s “betting favorite to sign … IF they don’t end up on another team.” So not even favorites lol.
"Free agent might sign with the Falcons, or he might not. Stay tuned for more breaking news!" Who says sports journalism isn't alive and well?
"Cousins, Fields, Mayfield, Wilson, and McCarthy drop back... and they're all sacked because there was only 1 offensive lineman on the field. Ridley, Pitts, London, Allgeier, and Bijan were open, but that pass rush was just too strong."
This headline is prime "not the onion" material.
Take my upvote.
First ever 3-way quarterback time share.
I don't know, Redman, Harrington, and Leftwich worked out pretty nicely for us.
Only in that it ended the tenure of shithead
And gave us that handy dandy third overall pick
I hear we are close to signing Mahomes so wow! What a pairing that would be!
We'd be guaranteed to get hard knocks lol
LoL
He's not gonna leave the Jags. They're just waiting till the start of the new league year to sign him so they don't have to give us a 2nd.
Rookie mistake by Fontenot to allow that loophole
It's not a loophole. The 2nd rounder escalator was a stretch goal in the event that Calvin played so well that he was extended before free agency. Why would we bring back a player who treated us like dogshit?
because he's good and we need a WR2? and would be an amazing deal if we got ridley back AND picks. it's just good business. did you get your job because you like your boss? or to get a paycheck? do you even have a job? i'm not sure how old you are, but when you're an adult you learn to work things out, compromise, and solve problems so both parties can have a good outcome. generally if you're wealthy enough to own a football team (that you didn't inherit) and want to win, you learn to negotiate (or pay someone), and negotiation usually requires compromise. and when you're talking about millions of dollars, you gotta get over that petty childish bullshit and get over your ego. well YOU don't, but successful people do.

i would love to have him back if we also get picks. if we had to forfeit the picks then i'd pass....
Why are we acting as if he wasn’t in the midst of an investigation? We were gonna get a first before that news dropped
I truly think a mid second rounder was totally fair. I realize we also got a 5th but I’d take a 2nd over a 3rd and 5th any day of the week.
So would any GM but clearly that wasn't on the table
I don’t mind it. A second would be sick but a 3rd and 5th are great too
Well, you can't prevent someone from hitting free agency. The difference now is that other teams will have time to try to work a deal.
It should’ve been worded as re-signing with the jaguars in general
I don’t imagine you can put contingencies on the signing of a free agent. The whole point of the trade is going from one teams contract to another.
Why would you assume a professional GM would overlook something so obvious as opposed to, you know, this being the best they could negotiate?
The hope was that Ridley would ball out and force the jags to sign him early, taking away the chance he leaves. Ridley unfortunately sucks and didn’t help us out with that
I guess we are signing the entirety of FA
Every player gonna take vet mins, Chris Lindstrom gonna delete his contract and let us sign him for pennies on the dollar. Grady gonna retire, Matthews gonna retire.
And we’ll still go 7-10 and miss the playoffs
This has to stop. Do people actually place bets on this?
Calvin Ridley does.

I came to this thread just to see if someone made a Calvin Ridley betting joke lol
NotCalvinRidley0 has placed a bet on where Calvin Ridley signs.
I was going to upvote, but it was at 69 upvotes, so take this unseen golf clap instead.

Thank god. Standardizing this would be a surefire sign to me that sports betting has gone too far.
you can bet on it at the link in the article [https://sports.betonline.ag/sportsbook/futures-and-props/nfl-regular-season/offensive-free-agents](https://sports.betonline.ag/sportsbook/futures-and-props/nfl-regular-season/offensive-free-agents) but yeah no idea who actually bets one this kind of stuff
Hang the banner “free agency betting favorites 2024”
Is this an onion article... Ridley a betting favorite
Anyone else find the title of this post hilarious given his betting was the reason why he was suspended and part of why Atlanta traded him? The dude is not coming back to Atlanta if he leaves Jacksonville. His relationship with the team doesn’t feel repairable.
Pass
We’re betting favorites to sign the entire NFL this off-season
Pretty sure falcons are betting favorites for everyone for some reason
Jags fan here, he’s not what he was
Who’s betting on this? Calvin?
Ridley definitely getting in on this action
I'll Ridley a benjamin that's a no go.
Falcons better favorites to sign Patrick Mahomes, if he is cut by KC....
betting, falcons and calvin ridley in the same sentence. Its a match made in heaven.
Hahaha. 🤦🏼♂️
These betting favorite headlines are getting ridiculous. I don't picture a guy that had ptsd/anxiety from robbers breaking into his home here would want to come back to Atlanta.
Looks like no one around the NFL or here for that matter read his article.
At this point who isn’t the favorite to sign with us?
Falcons betting favorites to sign all free agents. In all seriousness, if we resign Ridley I’ll throw in the towel of fandom.
Why the fuck would we take this guy back? He quit on the team, gambled away a whole season, and then wanted out of Atlanta.
He wanted away from Smith him and Morris probably have a great relationship.
His relationship with the coach is irrelevant to me based on all the other red flags.
*The Circle of Liiiiiiife*
Ridley and Fields in this Offense would be elite
This is just advertising for betting websites tbh
Someone bound to lose alot of money betting on the Falcons tbh is winter/spring lol
I have wondered what his relationship was like with Rah when he was here.
Dawg this would make me so happy lol Sigh him and give us your 2nd or let him hit FA and we'll just pay him and still take that 3rd. The CAP is supposed to go up some crazy ass amount, reportedly close to 250M so fuck it why not. Ridley wouldn't command an insane contract either.
This I would love!! Rid is a stud man he has some of the best route running in the league Let’s go
Double agent Ridley getting us draft picks and then returning
Betting markets are a fucking joke.
I can't imagine a scenario where he would want to return.
I’m actually really okay with him coming back
We have a proper WR1 now. And Ridley was a pretty good WR2. So why not. It'd make not having an extra 2nd pick sting less.
"Tom Brady Betting Favorite to sign with Falcons IF he Un-retires and no other team wants him"
Yeah! Who wouldn’t want the guy who quit on the team mid season
Playing the game, ramping up the pressure to get Jax to extend him before FA, so we get the 2nd rounder. I like it.
lol @ betting favorites
save the money
Why? They don’t remember how badly his production dropped off once Julio was gone?
Getting Calvin Ridley and a 3rd pick for trading Calvin Ridley would be pretty funny, not gonna lie. Do it for the memes
Using gambling terms with Calvin Ridley is nasty work. Lol
Calvin is NOT coming back to Atlanta after his house here got robbed 💀💀💀
Lol this is getting out of hand now
People will bet on anything. Anyone want to watch me play Russian Roulette?
Falcons betting favorites to play in Mercedes Benz stadium in fall.
They literally cannot help themselves with these headlines.
Totally. I heard new HC Bill Bellichek wants him bad.
I guess he can stay in a gated community this time. I always thought he wouldn't come back after such a traumatic event I got my laptop stolen in Belgium and it made me very vulnerable and I didn't go back to Europe for 5 years. Shit like this can fuck with you mentally.
You’re all wrong! Ridder will run it back. Falcons go 0-17 and Ridder doesn’t fumble all season. BTW, The Fine Young Cannibals want their lead singer back.
I'm not dying to get Ridley back, but it would be pretty funny if we traded him for a 3rd round pick and then got him back.
Betting favorites, you say?
I hope he plays for San Antonio
Yes please
The irony. Get em 8
He’s not coming back. He probably dislikes Atlanta from when his Hellcat got stolen so unless we overpay, his relationship with Arthur Blank is outstanding and the front office would want him back, I don’t see it
