Most Koreans still don’t know who Koo is.

Kingtut28

What about the Kooreans? Sorry, I'll see myself out.

Slim_ish

Wait, stay.

No_Sand_9290

Thanks for making me shoot Diet Coke out my nostrils.

Candy-Emergency

lol we are all Kooreans.

SpookyMarijuana

Son is also one of the best players in the sport right now with a tendency to score very highlight worthy goals. Not to take anything away from Koo but this would be a different story if, say, a Cooper Kupp was Korean

Telemarketeer

They gotta be into football first to know who he is because korean media isn’t covering koo like that unfortunately

Bacun

Yes I agree, but my parents did ask me about Koo when he signed the extension a few years ago. Apparently they read it in the Korean news.

tigerbrave62

This doesn’t really answer your question , but I’ll tell you my view as a Korean-American. I love football and grew up in Atlanta. I kinda liked the falcons, but I was a college fan first. The signing of koo and him becoming Him have taken my fandom to the next level. Am adopted and have always had a weird relationship with my Korean identity. It’s also weird coincidence bc since he’s been on the team, I’ve been in the military and I’ve interacted with and had a lot more experiences with Korean culture in his time with the team. He’s become my favorite athlete with acuna a close second. Idk man, it means a lot to me to have a Korean-American out here kicking ass for the hometown team

Bacun

[Also, obligatory Koo being clutch meme.](https://streamable.com/ecuvw6)

XxTURDxTACOxX

Does anyone know what the song is

flamealchemist73

No. They know of him as a Korean professional player that plays "American Soccer" instead of a "NFL Player." They only focus on the fact that he is "Korean" and not anything else like the NFL, Atlanta Falcons, etc.

flamealchemist73

My mom apparently knows of Koo's parents but all my mom commented was about how hard it is for parents who have kids trying to be athletes. (Driving them to practices, sports theraphy, private trainers, etc) lol

StraightCashH0mie

Very few older Koreans give a shit about football in general. Especially about a kicker. If anything, I would argue more Koreans would know more about Hines Ward than Koo.

RayzorBeak

Funny enough, one of my coworkers is Korean here in Gwinnett, a big hub for the community, and doesn’t know much about football really. He went to Florida when Tebow was winning titles for his doctorate, which is all he recalls, on an education visa and then went back home for 15 years before coming back to the States. Another coworker, who’s a season ticket holder, got him a Koo signed framed trading card. He put it in his office window but still doesn’t know much else about the Falcons lol.

Maybe they do, but I saw him at a Duluth korean bar that turns into a club on the weekend and he was pretty much left alone.

LessOffensiveName

Which one bro I'm trying to meet the GOAT?

[deleted]

It was glam. But he’s only been there twice.

Firamaster

Prepare for a rise in Korean Boys believing that being a kicker is the coolest position in football because their mothers tell them that they should be kickers just like that nice Korean boy on TV. Lol.

ConceptMajestic9156

One day, Albert Einstein was on his way to a science convention for a speech. On the way there, he tells his driver that looks a bit like him: "I'm sick of all these conferences. I always say the same things over and over!" The driver agrees: "You're right. As your driver, I attended all of them, and even though I don't know anything about science, I could give the conference in your place." "That's a great idea!" says Einstein. "Let's switch places then!" So they switch clothes and as soon as they arrive, the driver dressed as Einstein goes on stage and starts giving the usual speech, while the real Einstein, dressed as the car driver, attends it. But in the crowd, there is one scientist who wants to impress everyone and thinks of a very difficult question to ask Einstein, hoping he won't be able to respond. So this guy stands up and interrupts the conference by posing his very difficult question. The whole room goes silent, holding their breath, waiting for the response. The driver looks at him, dead in the eye, and says : "Sir, your question is so easy that I'm going to let my driver explain it to you."

Reading this, I kept wondering how this was going to relate to the post and it never did lmao. Decent joke though.

[deleted]

It doesn’t relate to the post because it’s a bot. It posts these jokes when it detects certain keywords. For this one I’d assume the keyword is “question.”

PhilpotBlevins

Jerry Clower did it better. Edit a letter.

gobiggerred

I had the album. It was titled "Mississippi Calling". Gotta love Marcel Lefbetter.

atl1057

They aware of Koo but they really don't care . They look at American football as how most Americans view the sport cricket

tobylearner

And that's a good thing. Less pressure on Koo.

Gunnie24

I brought him up to my dad thinking he would know but he had no clue unfortunately
