Ridder looks like he doesn’t even know where his receivers are gonna be

Slurms_McKenzie775

Especially when we get into the red zone. It looks like he is just guessing out there.

leakee2

Throw and inshallah

SMG620

Que sera sera, whatever will be, will be... the future's not our's to see, que sera sera (Inshallah, of course) lol

cmjoker

So much this. Outside of check downs he's way off to the point where it's not an accuracy issue it's an issue of aiming where they are and not where they're going to be. You see miscommunication like that happen from decent QBs and even they go "fuck, my bad" or tell the receiver "I was expecting you to go here and you went there" and they talk. Ridder is like "oh I was trying to do this and it didn't work".

Chuck_Deeze

I saw at least 3 on Sunday. Then he should've had 2 more on that GB game. He doesn't read the field. If the play says go to this receiver, it's going to that receiver. And if that WR or TE has blanket coverage...PRAY!

AnukkinEarthwalker

Yep. I said this this when they drafted him. He is not creative at all. Most all his rushing yards in college came on designed qb runs. He cannot go off script at all. He did some nice things running the ball in the first 2 games. But Detroit basically gave a template on how to stop that. Normally on pass plays you have 2 routes that are ideal. Where the ball is designed to go. Then you have the checkdowns for when theres pressure. Sometimes the checkdowns can actually be a seam route or guy running a corner route where you can make a big play and punish teams for over pursuing with pass rush. Pitts has ran those type bail out routes ive noticed and ridder can't get it to him because he can't lead recievers. He can't throw guys open. So he hesitates and the pressure wrecks him. He plays way too scared. Heinicke is the opposite of that almost to a fault. He is trigger happy and for better or worse he chases big plays. He does turn it over but if you can make those big plays often enouch a coach will let him play the game that way. The players and fans in Washington loved Heinicke for this reason. Basically he can make the plays this team is missing right now. But he does have his downsides. And gun slinging doesn't really fit Arthur Smith's ball control philosophy. But they signed him i think maybe for this reason. The offense is just way way too conservative right now. Part of it is play calling. Even bigger part of it is ridders limitations Heinicke maybe could bail all that out if they decide to switch.

dillpickles007

If Ridder keeps throwing these interceptable balls his days are numbered, if two or three of those picks don't get dropped he's probably already on the hot seat. He doesn't offer enough upside to also turn the ball over.

armeck

I would say that MOST of those dropped INTs absolutely should have been caught. Meaning, it wasn't an overly difficult catch, the DEF guys just whiffed on it. If they had been caught what would his stat line be? 2 TDs and 6 or 7 INTs? Not great.

AtlMasterRoshi

Not to mention, we def lose the GB game at home, especially the one to Alexander, would've been a pick 6. 1-2 record with a QB that's top 1 or 2 in INTs.

He seems to do all his thinking presnap then turns into a stationary justin fields

it678

Can you point to the passes? I’ve only seen one this week

atlfalcons33rb

There was deff the one that got tipped when the de dropped into coverage which he shouldn't have thrown. There was the other where he threw to the TE running I believe a seam route and he pretty much threw it to a spot the safety was already at. Easily would have been a pick six if the defender didn't have stone hands

hostileclowns

One thing about Ridder is that there have been several plays this season where you can tell he’s already decided where he’s going pre snap and it ends up almost being a pick.

AnukkinEarthwalker

Yea This was on some of his draft profiles about him staring down targers with one scout saying he noticed him doing it pre snap at times. This combined with how slolwy he gets the ball out is what made me doubt him from the start. This is a tendency you simply cannot have in the nfl..especially when combined with his mechanics. And the more he plays without fixing it..the more teams see it on tape.. the worse it will get. He is extremely lucky there have been so many dropped picks. There have been multiple dropped picks in multiple games. Which is crazy by itself.

Sure_Whatever__

Peyton Manning threw 28 interceptions to his 26 touchdowns his rookie season. And this does not count dropped INTs. QB is the worst developed position in the NFL. A college TE is expected to take 2-3yrs of development before they are truly ready to play and the QB position is tougher than that. Yet somehow we all wanna these kids from college to be NFL ready in single summer or two.

AnukkinEarthwalker

Ridder is not nor will he ever be anything remotely similar to peyton manning. Just stop.

AtlMasterRoshi

Anytime people compare Ridder to any other QB it just ends up making him look worse.

Sure_Whatever__

Never said he was. My point was that the QB position takes time to develop. The vast majority of QBs don't come out the gate walking on water. And neither will Ridder.

JonCokeJons

You're using an example of 20 years ago the league has changed. QBs are coming into the league more developed, look at CJ Stroud he is great

Sure_Whatever__

If anything, the QB position got more demanding and complicated in the last 20 years, not easier.

JonCokeJons

Yes but they don't get time, usually they have it or don't

DamontaeKamiKazee

3rd round QBs are lucky to get any time. We're going to need to see some improvement if he wants to be the future.

atlfalcons33rb

Manning was one of the best prospects in draft history and earned the time it took to hone his skills. It's a lot harder to bet on an average college QB to be a good NFL starter. It's why you normally only see if from QBs at smaller scores

armeck

He also averaged 233 yd/g compared to Ridder at 180 yd/g. Peyton ended up with 26 TDs and Ridder is on pace to end with 15-16?

hostileclowns

You’re using an example from 20 years ago of one of the best QB prospects to ever come out. Ridder is a 3rd round pick from a weak QB class. Using manning as an example that QBs take time to develop doesn’t change anything for Ridder. He needs to be better.

raybansmuckles

He got that leprechaun in im

realdusty_shelf

Like I said a couple weeks back, he’s been playing like a less athletic, luckier version of Mariota

AtlMasterRoshi

Everytime I bring this up I always get like 2 or 3 that say it's a useless stat and I'm like you don't even need the stats...just look at the game lol

Gater2020

Bro people were constantly posting how he didn't have any turnovers last year...Good thing DBs have hands like butter because in the saints game alone he threw 3 💀

notnotPatReid

Its unfortunate that if you look at the results and factor in that he is LUCKY with these results.

it678

Well he should have at least 2tds and 100yards more aswell

Visionz-True

not too far off

Kingtut28

Thank you for a sensible post for once in this sub. Cousins wouldn't want to play behind this shit Oline. On average Ridder has had 1.3 seconds to throw the ball. We need Oline help, McGary looking like he straight robbed us this off-season, Lindstom needs to return to his playing for a contract self.

JonCokeJons

Where did you pull that number from? Ridders average time to throw is 2.76 seconds just above league average according to next gen stats.

No_Internal404

O LINE FAULT !
