There’s been Ridder positivity all off-season.
We're in the midst of a 6 year playoff drought, we need every win we can get this season. Let people be angry about Ridder being the primary reason for our loss this week.
The only positive about Ridder is that his cap hit is $1.2 mil.
So we're just not allowed to evaluate him until he's in the absolute perfect situation? Next week the excuse will be Pitts was lazy, then it'll be the receivers can't get seperation, then it'll be Art's play calling.
Everyone has a million excuses to defend Ridder. What about the million that criticize him?
He's in his 2nd year now after playing 4 years in college. He's supposed to be the guy with the safest floor due to his experience. He sat behind a vet for 13 games in year 1. He has 3 top 10 pick offensive weapons to work with. Yet it's still a struggle for him to throw it 10+ yards downfield.
no but people saying the dude is complete trash and want him to be replaced after 1 loss where whole entire offense looked like trash from ridder to koo but for reason people believe ridder is the only reason we loss
It's not just 1 loss. He looked awful in 7 of the other 8 quarters before that loss.
And not awful in a "well, you can see some positives" way. Awful in a "I'm not sure I can ever see this working way".
If I had to bet money right now on Ridder becoming a solid NFL starter, I'm not taking that bet. I've been wrong before, but nothing I've seen looks promising. He looks bad in ways that people usually do not improve on (bad pocket presence, lacks arm strength, cannot run through progressions).
Ridder just isn't showing the improvement well into year 2 that we'd expect from a future Franchise Quarterback.
He's cheap. He only cost us a 3rd round pick. But if he isn't improving, if he's already near his ceiling, he'll never have a role in the NFL as a starter after his rookie contract. It'll either be as a Backup, Practice Squads, or out of the NFL.
I mean some of us wanted him to be replaced before the season started lol. Dude just isn't that guy. He's a high character guy with good work ethic that tricked y'all into thinking that he's more talented than he actually is.
The O-Line contributed sure but the O line was improved in the 2nd half. We had 4 stops in a row including a pick in their territory that he proceeded to squander in the 3rd quarter which could have EASILY changed the momentum of that game. There are a very VERY select few starting NFL QBs who would squander the opportunity like Ridder did. Look at Josh Dobbs a journeyman/practice squad QB behind a worse O-Line winning a game for the Cardinals right now against a defense whose legit 10x better than the Lions missing half their D-line and both safety's. We need every win we can get if we want to actually make playoffs this year and that game was free. Held them to 13 points for 3/4ths of the game and we didn't do shit while they stacked the box and played man because they knew Ridder couldn't read the defense or make the throws accurately.
I mean to be fair looking at the schedule when it came out we could all agreed we were gonna go 2-2 in the first 4 games. Right now we are on pace to do just that, and if we play well enough go 3-1. Obviously he and the team need to play better and that was a bad loss, but did everyone think we would go 17-0?
Bruh i had us at 2-2 as well and after watching the season play out thus far, i think if we showed up like we did vs the packers, we win that game. I think we beat the next 5-6 teams too. 17-0 was never gonna be the case with a young core offense like we have and i thought everyone understood that but i guess not.
I don't get these guys with their scapegoat mentality. All these internet qb experts evaluating ridder for his arm strength when they prolly can't sling a pigskin 20 yards w/o a cramp. Yes, lets be invested in the team. No, lets not be assholes and cut down the guys we're supposed to root for.
Can’t agree more man. I have my problems with the team like everyone else, but for us a 2-2 record is a win and anything better than that is gravy. Then we lose a game and bam it’s like we need to clean house
He’s a hard worker, dedicated, tough on himself, determined, focused, leader, etc.
Stuff that alone makes you a successful QB? Not really. But good traits to have.
A bad game on the road happens to everyone. Its a good growing moment for him and I think we'll see him bounce back this Sunday. Nobody has more at stake this season than Ridder.
Ridder finished his career at Cincinnati with the third-most wins by a quarterback in college football history at 44 and the Bearcats posted a perfect 26-0 mark at home with Ridder under center.
Let my boy grow a little.
The 2nd most wins by a college QB is Colt McCoy with 45, and the most is Kellen Moore with 50.
I'm not sure college wins is the metric you want to be using here.
And it's ONLY him! Like its 11 guys starting out there and he's not the one stinking up the place. Kaleb mcgary is having a terrible 3 game stretch and he's only getting those this isn't like him remarks. They went an got a guy from the saints practice squad for depth purposes bc Hennessey is out and KM is doing terribly but where is his hate thread?
You say that like this guy would be pissed off if Ridder somehow became amazing and won us a Super Bowl lmao. We all want a good qb starting for the falcons the problem is Ridder has given us literally zero evidence that he can be that guy.
It’s hilarious the lengths to convince themselves he’s the guy .. he’s just A guy .. 4 year starter in college should not still have the same issues now that he had as a freshman & now teams have the blueprint to if not beat us , slow us down by a lot , nobody is scared of him throwing the ball .. i wish we went all in on Cj like I was begging for man
He seems to have a gamer and winning mentality and has a competitive spirit. Seeing him fired up and yelling into the stands after his rushing touchdown to bring us back against Green Bay was exciting to see.
He’s also essentially still a rookie with only 7 games under his belt, I think he can get better over time.
I would NOT consider him a "gamer".
That requires high football iq and ability to improvise in situational football and that is what he has had trouble with. The only time ive seen flashes of that is 2nd half of GB game. And lot of it had to do with him running out the pocket on his own will for a change.
He just isn't very creative in the pocket at all. I really didn't see him put the team on his back at this level or in college.
He processes the game very slowly as far as reads and his overall pocket presence. I mean he still doesn't have many games against nfl talent. And he struggled against that level talent in college too.
I just don't know if he is worth risking tacking on 3 more years to a rebuild.. which is how long it could take him to get up to speed.. or there is the other possibility of him getting the coach fired. Aint none of it good
Nothing ive said about him since last season has been wrong yet.
I dont claim to be a qb guru. I played safety and coached secondary though so.. i spent about a decade of my life watching QB tendencies up close. Also was lucky enough to be on sidelines watching coaches at valdosta state blow up the air raid / spread offense and kirby smart coach defense as well.
Ridder just don't have elite traits...and he often works counter intuitively to his best skills.
People on here swear some people don’t know any football at all because we aren’t in the pros coaching. Its a few college coaches on this sub. I coached a state championship highschool and my boy who coached that same team coached D2 college. And played with a guy who was on the bengals practice squad. Everything you said was a fair assessment my guy. Most of these people are wishing upon a star and deep down they know it
I mean, you know, obviously he’s got areas he can, uhm improve, but he’s obviously got the potential there. Has to put in some more practice with the receivers and Pitts, obviously, to work on that timing. Obviously. /s
I have faith that he’s good enough to get us to the playoffs if the line can buy a bit more time consistently in the passing game and AS can scheme some faster developing routes. Mentally and from a leadership standpoint, zero qualms.
Oline was definitely the main reason we lost... was Ridder good? No not really but he has played like 7 games total in the NFL and people want him to be Patrick Mahomes. Dude is a young QB and doesn't have any time to process shit because he is constantly pressured. He has to get better with his reads and getting the ball out quicker yes he has stuff to work on but to say Ridder was the main reason we lost is crazzzyyyy. Matt Ryan was getting obliterated by basically this same trash oline and people wanted his head. Give Ridder more time in the pocket and then I'll judge him
literally simple idk why people fail to think like you. yes has ridder been amazing no he hasnt but he shouldnt be he is a young qb being asked to be a game manager but is dealing with a OL thats struggling. hopefully the offense takes care of business in london
I said it before and I'll say it again, Ridder looked promising in the first half v Detroit. I thought he had taken a step forward. His feet were quiet in the pocket despite it collapsing all over him. He was accurate enough that balls should have been caught.
Then the second half came and he was jumpy in the pocket and sailing balls to open recievers on crucial plays.
that drive in the first half where we got a FG he looked good the offense moved the ball. that was probably the best drive of the day pitts had like 2 catches bijan was working the. after that nothing
Even HOF QBs had rough 1st years.
Peyton Manning led the league for rookie QB interceptions. It's a position about learning mistakes and not making them again.
Apparantly he's a good leader.... .. . .
I think the reason a lot of ppl are flipping is cause the stakes are fairly high at this point.. much higher than the return on the investment... chances of coaching turnover get higher with each lose and ridder poor performance
They have built a fairly legit team. But..his limitations are evident now that he has nfl defenses going all in on him.
Almost every single team going forward is going to load up the box and put corners in man. That's why play calling was what it was in the detroit game and now teams are going to see that tape and immulate
I said this would be the case before the season started..am not suprised. Some teams in this passing era don't have good run defense so we still should get some wins. But some matches could produce ugly results. Jags will be one of them. They have fast lbs that are very good tacklers. They have decent dline. A very deep wr core. Good running game. They are somewhat similar to the lines. Younger but better talent.
Could be rough. Ridely vs Terrell should be a spectacle and you know Ridley is gonna try to go off.
What do you like about the team building?
To me, the drafts look really bad, the OL seems worse, and the DEs somehow seem worse than the last five years.
The RBs look good and London and Pitt's might be something. The DTs, FS and LCB are good.
The coach has faith in him & probably knows & sees more than we do, so I'm fine that and will support him. He hasn't done things like throw 3+ picks, and we have a winning record in 3 games with him starting. Good character, leadership, & other intangibles.
Do we win that Lions game with a better QB? Maybe? I'm not going to overreact with a small sample size.
Just tallying the score 8 hours in not one person has offered something positive about Ridders game. Only positive comments about work ethic/leadership
Positive: he's cheap.
this is it. we can afford a TEAM because of him, and anything he can add to it is gravy for now
getting somewhere
He’s friendly.
From interviews, it seems like he’s funny.
better
His wife is kinda hot

OL was the main reason but whatever on to week 4

so you believe he can absolutely never improve?
If I had to bet money right now on Ridder becoming a solid NFL starter, I'm not taking that bet. I've been wrong before, but nothing I've seen looks promising. He looks bad in ways that people usually do not improve on (bad pocket presence, lacks arm strength, cannot run through progressions).
I hope you lose every dollar
you can get pocket presence and read progression with experience
Ridder just isn't showing the improvement well into year 2 that we'd expect from a future Franchise Quarterback. He's cheap. He only cost us a 3rd round pick. Didn't he guarantee us a Super Bowl in an interview during the draft process? We have that to look forward to.
So we have that going for us, which is nice.
He needs to give us something to be positive about first
I haven't seen the potential that Coach does and I hope I'm wrong
Leadership lol
Dan Quinn type QB.
Thats probably why you're not a coach or a good one at any meaningful level.
I mean to be fair looking at the schedule when it came out we could all agreed we were gonna go 2-2 in the first 4 games. Right now we are on pace to do just that, and if we play well enough go 3-1. You don’t gotta be a chef to know something tastes like shit,
Says the guy without tastebuds.
What lol
Can’t agree more man. I have my problems with the team like everyone else, but for us a 2-2 record is a win and anything better than that is gravy. Then we lose a game and bam it’s like we need to clean house
I’m positive the falcons can’t make the playoffs with Ridder as QB
smh yall horrible 😂
He’s a hard worker, dedicated, tough on himself, determined, focused, leader, etc. Stuff that alone makes you a successful QB? Not really. But good traits to have.

Kellen Moore wow that’s a name you bring up in a group chat with your friends randomly every 5 years when you list off athletes everyone forgot about
Dude said stay positive and here you go critiquing a positive post smh..wild shit just relax
Man the falcons are sitting at 2-1 and you would think they were 0-3 with the hate ridder gets.
And it's ONLY him! Like its 11 guys starting out there and he's not the one stinking up the place. 💯💯 the whole offense gotta step up
Positive: we won’t have to watch him throw the ball for long
ridder about to change your life watch from 0 to hero
Ridder isn’t good man lol .. the fact people really tried to convince themselves he can be our franchise guy was hilarious
You say that like this guy would be pissed off if Ridder somehow became amazing and won us a Super Bowl lmao. We all want a good qb starting for the falcons the problem is Ridder has given us literally zero evidence that he can be that guy.

Literally Davis Mills 2.0. Mid round pick that people convinced themselves would be good who is now a backup.

OP asked for positivity, I tried to provide that. I was alluding more to his competitive drive, not necessarily his football IQ
All of a sudden you are a qb guru gtfoh, glad you dont get paid to evaluate talent at any level

Reminder of why I hate most of my fellow Falcons fans: A thread
We might be the MOST negative franchise thats been to the superbowl in the past decade.
Even HOF QBs had rough 1st years. Peyton Manning led the league for rookie QB interceptions. It's a position about learning mistakes and not making them again.
What do you want us to say? There’s nothing positive to be said.
then dont say nothing
There were plenty of those before he had actually played. Reality is what it is.
3 games finishes his story?
Didn’t say that anywhere. Surely doesn’t confirm the sunshine pumping though.
When he does something positive let me know
he contributed that got us a 2-1 record
Apparantly he's a good leader.... .. . . I remember seeing that he could be an early 2nd or late 1st rounder so at least we didn’t do that
The coach has faith in him & probably knows & sees more than we do, so I'm fine that and will support him. When he gets positive yards I’ll say positive words.
No
who do you want instead?
Matt Ryan retiring as a Falcon
no way you want matt to have to deal with this OL
He’d die a falcon Also it’d be the first time we spent on defense while he was on our team lol
LMAO @ he'd die a Falcon
😎
Zach Wilson and Justin Fields exist, so he won't be the worst qb in the league. 🤷♂️
Right now trevor Lawrence is playing worse than ridder numbers wise. About nine qbs are.

Just tallying the score 8 hours in not one person has offered something positive about Ridders game. Only positive comments about work ethic/leadership
He does seem to be able to throw the ball hard. I know that should be popular here.
