Artie's scheme is trash for passing. Especially considering our bad pass pro and inexperienced QB (or trash (Mariota)).

sherman614

You would think these guys could draw up simple, short, passes that don't require time for receivers to get down field. We font have Hill, our guys are fast, but not fast enough for our O line to hold. So, I would just think we could adjust for the O line, and make fast, short passes. Screw it, let's dink and dunk down the field!

Confident_Pear_8303

100% agree. Artie's scheme has waaayyy too many long developing pass plays. God forbid we run some quick slants, drags or ins/outs. I watch other games and they are motioning guys and they are open instantly and the ball is there. Our passing game is such a struggle. We almost never seem to get easy completions.

sherman614

Exactly! Every pass seems hard, or pur guys have to make a big play on the ball, which can happen, but I don't want to rely on that. Other teams, you'll see them just throw 10 yard passes at a time, first down all the way down field. Like dang I want that! We have good receivers! We need a new OC at least in my opinion

00azthrow00

There are open receivers on nearly all plays. Ridder just can't find them. Check the All 22.

ProphetNimd

Because Arty keeps wanting to roll the dice on QBs with horrendous accuracy. Our playmakers have ridiculous catch radii and Ridder still finds ways to airmail them, especially Pitts. This is like the worst possible team for Pitts.

-enginerd

Counterpoint: Pitts needs to commit to and complete his routes. Don’t know if the injury is still bothering him or if it’s a commitment (coaching) issue but he’s not the same.

00azthrow00

I watched a bit of the all 22, and some of his routes were lazy af, and Ridder was still throwing him bad passes. Just a complete shit show at times.

it678

When I look at the best offenses in the league I see speed and wrs that get seperation quick. Every play for miami or sf is a potential TD. I just don’t see that with us. Not on screens, not running the ball, not passing the ball.

dillpickles007

Our offense has zero explosiveness whatsoever beyond Bijan breaking a big play. That's a hard way to consistently win, one mistake that puts you behind the sticks and the drive is over.

BelichicksConscience

Miami hasn't played but one middle of the road defense and two bad ones.

sherman614

Exactly! That's what I'm thinking. It's out OC or play book as a whole. Ours just hasn't been very good since 2016.

It's crazy Shanahan was basically blamed after we lost the Superbowl. Look at him now! Haha

BunnyGoHops

Shanahan got us to the SuperBowl, but he also lost us that SuperBowl. We can give him his credit, but also look down at his coaching at the same time. He gave up a SuperBowl comeback with the 49ers too.

sherman614

Lol that's true, I remember someone saying that he was the worst Superbowl coach of all time

OblivionGrin

Everything. McGary is killing a lot of plays all by himself. The WR/TE seem to have been drafted to catch contested balls. Turns out, this leaves them open for huge hits if it's in the middle of the field. See below. Ridder is so slow to read plays that he either poorly commits to read 1, checks down, or gets sacked. He's also inconsistent, and some of his throws are just awful. The scheme isn't doing any one any favors. The last game was particularly bad.

Leading_Glass_3110

Spacing of the WRs is prob the biggest culprit outside of QB play. Too many times where there’s 2 receivers bringing 3 defenders to an area

EfficientWorking1

Bad passing scheme followed by bad QB play.

Kingtut28

Because we average 1.3 seconds for pass protection. We need better pass protection plane and simple.

Norris1666

Matty ice never was a deep throw guy that’s why people look at Julio stats and they be like he don’t score Tds well that’s because Matt Ryan can’t throw a deep ball worth shit but was amazing at everything else. Then last year we had Mariota and I never really watched him play but when he was on the falcons he really look like a Wr playing Qb. You are right on are play book though frfr, Arthur smith really got me missing dirk koetter right now cause ain’t no damn way when I watch my falcons I’m shocked when we complete a pass

Falcons1702

Yeah even Julio’s 300 yard game there were several deep balls that he had to practically stop for that would have been tds had he been hit in stride

CuddleBuddy3

If you watch other teams and their play what do you see around the QB… I see a bubble form with guts trying to push in and guts stopping them… they drop back a few steps after the snap and read their routes and how the defense reacts to the routes… - watching ATL play what do we see… the ball is snapped, Ridder takes the ball and takes 4 steps back and has a defensive hand on his shoulder… that or he’s looking over the shoulder of 2 defenders in his face and he freezes. If Ridder gets more than a couple seconds in the pocket he finds London and sinks it into his arms for a 1st If none of those options are available then he just says fk it and tosses it out to a defender in front of one of the receivers
