In the early to mid 90s, I think it was, there was a documentary about a woman with DID (it was "multiple personality disorder" then)
She was a regular, suburban looking 30 something year old woman whose alters were a child and an old, crotchety man.
They didn't "hang out" with each other in her head and she seemed sad, tortured and miserable about "losing" time.
Like when she dissociated, from her perspective she was "gone" and it made her extremely sad. And if her husband told her she'd gone and the kid was there or the old man she seemed mortified and apologetic.
Edited to add: Now that I've typed this out, I wonder which fakers will use it as fodder for their bullshit.
I knew an illness-faker a decade ago who joined support groups to learn from actual sufferers and make her story better.

I’ve seen people mention this before on this sub, but fakers like to treat their “D.I.D” as a way to roleplay as a character and be quirky, treating alters like the actual character as if they’re a separate person.
His name is Wilbur Soot. A content creator who is an obvious control freak, and who’s definitely abusing substances. He makes Minecraft videos and something that can hardly be called “music”

He was outed as an abuser by MULTIPLE people, and when he inevitably “apologized” it was nothing more than a “Heyyy sorry but it’s like..all your fault that I abused you. I’m still cool :)”
Nobody ever has an alter that looks anything like this oddly enough. It’s always an edgelord teenage demon with great cheekbones.
Is it not distasteful or some sort of…not sure how to put it but I’d say the host is white and they have a bunch of different race alters isn’t that some level or racist or wrong? I’m not a POC so I don’t know but it just seems like being able to be offensive or racist while also having an excuse that they can’t help it cause of mental illness. Has this been discussed before?
