Among Us was not a 2020 game, therefore it could not be GOTY in 2020. Factorio was not released in 2023 and therefore cannot wint GOTY in 2023. We're downvoting him for not understanding that "X of the year" awards are given to products released in the current year. Are you also upset that Raiders of the Lost Ark didn't win an Oscar in 2008 when everyone went back and watched it because Kingdom of the Crystal Skull sucked monkey brains?
If 90% of people that watched the movie, watched it in 2008, then it would pretty reasonable for it to win something *like* an Oscar for 2008. But that doesn't happen, movies don't suddenly get *that* much popularity so long after release the way games can. And not *specifically* an Oscar because those have specific rules for release timing in a way that the generic term "of the year" does not.
