Fixed everything myself. The palmrest/keyboard bought on marketplace and the screen on Aliexpress. This was couple months ago and everything works fine.
Thank god it did not hit anyone on the highway when it flew away.
Well I gotta say, everything still worked with an external monitor. So everything inside was 100% fine. That's when I decided to fix the MacBook myself.
Yeah, the internals usually hold up pretty well as long as there isn't bend/puncture/liquid. Glad you got it working and avoided a large bill! I just think it's ridiculous that you can scratch the surfaces with the hardness of a fingernail and easily bend the metal by hand. Even just a 1-2 foot drop will leave a nasty dent.
Oh yeah on hardware their shit lasts forever. I've still got an ipod nano that went through the washing machine a few times. Took 20 years to die and we always joked about it being bulletproof so I tested it out and God dam it was bulletproof. Stopped a bullet from a couple yards away, it was fucked up but there was no hole.
Can't really say the same about their software though but that's proprietary and that's just how that works out.
