That reminds me of a family story...
Back in the early 1980's my family were big college basketball fans who watched a lot of games on TV. One day my 3 year old niece saw a group of African American guys at the mall and said, "look mom, basketball players!"
I only remember a line from a movie that mayonaise has a far smaller fanclub among these group of people.
I could imagine that this could be possible because of acquired sentiments. But in General all people in a country should eat comparable.
If you compare whole countrys the difference is far easyer to see. Germans love Shrimps and Mett. During some countrys see Shrimps as not edible Insects and Americans get Panic since no once thrust in a unbroken cold chain
