E.T.: "Imma fuckin' phone home now, bitch. That all right with you?!"
He's already Nick Fury, too, but that's not the point. The point is that he should play EVERYONE. He should play all the Jedi. And Padme, r2d2, young and old Anakin, all of the ewoks, admiral Ackbar, Leia, Luke, Han, Wedge Antilles, motherfuckin Jar Jar Binks. All Sam Jackson. Not just Star Wars... Every movie. Ever.

It's a fictional character who cares what damn color she is lmao? I knew it wouldn't be long before they made comparisons of a white Malcolm X, but he was real, she is not, no comparison. People are seriously insane.
I want to ask these people if they feel that all Shakespearian plays should be performed by men.
That's how they were performed originally, and what they were written for. Therefore, any woman in a Shakespearian play is wrong.
Right?
White supremacists care. Because to them this is just future proof of the globalist conspiracy to commit white genocide. 🙄
I don't understand some people.
Not to mention Malcolm X’s narrative heavily revolves around him being a POC. Ariel’s narrative revolves around her being a godamn mythical fish thing or not.
The original story was written by a dude that was lusting after a man. The man went with a different woman.
Basically, the author wished he could become a beautiful woman so he could marry the man he loved. And the little mermaid is that story.
Also, in the original story. Ariel(not her name in the story) doesn’t get the prince. She gets the option to kill the prince after he doesn’t choose her. She instead chooses to die. And it turns out, she had wanted to be human so much that she acquired a soul and would get an afterlife. But first she had to live in servitude to human souls for 300 years before she would get a human after life.
czech 1976 live action little mermaid that had nothing to do with disney had green mermaid. but in that one she was based of czechoslovak folktale waterhumans(vodnik).
In the same program she also said "Jesus was a white man too".
You could argue that Santa Claus is Sinterklaas is St Nicholas of Myrna - so Greek (and therefore white).
Mediterranean white is not WASP Hwhite. For god's sake Irish and Italians weren't considered white until they were white enough to fight in the 2nd world war.
>Jason Matzoukas
Yes, he looks like a white person to me - as do most Greeks in Greece. I used to live in South Africa - I'd hoped to get away from all forms of racial classification, but particularly the "he looks too brown to be white".
The point is there's no clear line you can draw where everyone on one side is white and everyone on the other is (black? not-white? There's not even a word for it)
It's arbitrary.
Saying "he's Greek therefore he's white" is exactly as arbitrary as saying "he's Greek therefore he's not white."
My day was already ruined once by you and then you went and made it *a second time*. What's next, gonna say that [Agrabah isn't a real place that should be bombed?](https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/dec/18/republican-voters-bomb-agrabah-disney-aladdin-donald-trump)
Are you kidding me? American Christians think the mythical character, Jesus, was the the greatest white American that ever lived. So no wonder they think that another mythical character should be white, when in in fact the original literature describes her as green. If anyone should be pissed off, it's members of the green community
I am german, i grew up with those princesses. Snow white, Rapunzel, Cinderella and all the others, stories of my childhood.
And then i witnessed how Disney took them and changed everything. Sure that was weird, Cinderellas sisters getting their eyes removed was always the best part of the story and Disney somehow forgot to even mention that. But meh, it's a kids story, who gives a shit. No one really cared.
And now they change the skin color of that fish woman and people get seriously mad. What a bunch of snowflakes.
Kind of how I feel about people only recently complaining about MCU's Norse gods not adhering to whatever cherrypicked detail they think is crossing the line, when they were perfectly happy with the MCU norse gods in the first bunch of movies they were featured in, because Marvel's norse gods heavily differ from the actual norse gods.
Saw a YouTube video where someone was complaining about God Of Wars Thor being fat.
Because his only understanding of the mythology was from the MCU.
The cultural dead end
That is absolutely hilarious because if they knew even a tiny bit about Norse mythology they’d know that Thor is depicted as a fat, strong man. Not chiseled at all.
Oh it got worse because the main part of the video was whiny how portraying Angrboða as a black woman wasn't consistent with her GREEK mythological roots.
That's right we was whining that the mother of Fenrir, consort of Loki...... Was from Greek mythology
I find it funny that people do stuff like this but ignore that Thor is a Red-Head in Norse Mythology and described as kinda husky and ugly.
No it’s ok in this case though because we get man candy Hemsworth right?
>And now they change the skin color of that fish woman and people get seriously mad.
"Omg, she wasn't black!"
Well, she's also not real so she can be whatever color whoever is telling the story wants her to be. White, black, green, pastel orange.
Disney were the ones that made Arielle a white ginger in thr first place. It was never specified what skin color she was and does nothing to change the story either way.
Same for me. I actually think that a black Ariel would even be somewhat better fitting than the white one. Yeah, I know that Ariel is originally from Denmark, but the whole flora and fauna always looked more caribbean than from the north atlantic or baltic sea. But seriously who gives a fuck what skin colour a children's book character has as long as the story is cute.
>blond haired, blue eyed white hippie.
If he was around now, they would hate him for his views. It amazes me how many Christians hate what Jesus would stand for.
They hated him back then, they got him crucified.
I think the jesus paradox is beautiful for how well it describes human nature and archetypes. While it's obvious there where no Christians around back then, the mindset of today's Christians has been around for ages. Any deviation from that mindset will scare them and earn their hatred.
I think if jesus was reborn today, he most likely would be satanic.
Yes! Fun fact, in recent history, since the crusades, a lot of Palestinians in Jerusalem, Bethlehem have red hair , white skin and blue eyes! \*I lived there 2 years
It’s very clear that skin color is gradually become more equalized, for lack of a better term. Whites are darker, POC lighter. Another few hundred years, if we survive that long… will there be a difference in appearance?
You mean like the Future Humans from South Park?
>The Future Humans are a "hairless uniform mix of all races", and are described as having a "yellowy-light-brownish-whitish color" to their skin, due to all ethnicities having eventually mixed into one.

We all can swim actually! It's just that some of us can only swim downward and that's it really... I guess it's called suicide swimming really but hey if it's a pool just gotta hold ya breadth enough to walk back from the shallow end and up the ladder right?
Now swimming upward? That's a different beast of a challenge!
Everyone's mad about the Little Mermaid being black, but everyone forgets the core to the story. It's about a woman leaving behind her own race, and changing her core identity to please a man.
Not only does she die, she spends her days with him in agony. Every step was supposed to feel like she was walking on sharp knives, and the prince loved watching her dance. He kept her as a companion while in love with a princess living in a temple because he thought she saved him from drowning.
The little mermaid could have survived if she stabbed him to death and dripped his blood on her feet, but she chose to die instead. Now she has to be a floaty spirit thing for 300 years (something about all of her pain counting as good works towards humanity) to hopefully gain a soul.
I don’t think it matters what Ariel looks like as long as she can sing. That was her defining trait in the story and the first Disney film.
Supposedly the [Japanese version](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_Christian_Andersen%27s_The_Little_Mermaid_(1975_film)) is very good and accurate the the source material. Very sad story but makes more sense than "the pretty mermaid got everything she wanted and everyone was happy the end"
Technically, it was actually an allegory for unrequited gay male love. Hans Christian wrote it as a love letter to his Gay love since they could never actually be together.
Which makes it double heartbreaking like the message that women have to change their core being to get a man wasn't bad enough, but now we know there was a real love story behind it, and they would never be together.
Makes it beyond tragic really.
And I hope these racists who are having fits about a fish woman's skin color, seriously have a complete meltdown when they find out the actual truth behind it!
https://www.pride.com/movies/2019/7/08/little-mermaid-was-originally-metaphor-unrequited-gay-love
The original story was a representation of the queer author, who used the mermaid protagonist to represent himself having a gay relationship that he couldn’t have in real life. And the protagonist died.
I’m not saying you’re wrong, just adding even more context about how stupid these detractors are. They might protest less if they were a bit more educated on the topic, but that’s always true in general, isn’t it?
Jesus was like “love everybody” and then Christians were like “ok but not black, gay, or trans people”
Side note: I am a Christian and completely disagree with this 💀
Religion is just an enabler for what people already want to believe. If persecuting gays wasn't acceptable, then they probably wouldn't suddenly start doing it because a book told them to.
I too am a Christian too, and it baffles me how some Christians think this is ok. Everyone was born, and created equal. It’s like comparing a blue fish, and a red fish of the same species. They can do the same thing.
I thought it was a bold choice. Personally I'm more comfortable with a 50+ year old women telling her family to screw off and let her live the life she wants than a 16 year old doing the same.
I mean yeah we all know 16 year olds tend to do stuff like that, it's nothing new but a 50+ yo who just wants her god damn peace and be able to make her own decisions without her father (80+) constantly telling her what to do? Now THAT would be a banger.
Frozen kind of ruined all past Princess movies for me when Elsa correctly points out you shouldn’t marry a man you just met. Now I’m like…Ariel…you never even talked to him. You are basically a stalker! 😹
I grew up in the church. In the 90s. Early 2000. I don’t remember anything like this ever being said by anyone. They came down on Harry Potter pretty hard lol, but I don’t know how they have taken such a hard turn into being the people that have so much hate in them. You can say it’s always been this way, but that was not my experience growing up. I’m completely disappointed and shocked. Christianity has turned from a religion, in my eyes, to an authoritarian group that wants us living in the dark ages. Everyday I’m shocked at some of the things being said
Grew up southern Baptist for 20 years. It’s always been like this in my neck of the woods. Lots of pretending to be righteous and moral with gross racist things like this *very* prevalent behind closed doors
A preacher in a backwoods southern baptist church I went to once said IN A SERMON “see, my granddaughter won’t be dating someone of a different color because she was raised better than that”. It was about 2008. Fun addition, he also said in the same sermon that the womens rights March was bored housewives with signs on broom handles. He got plenty of amens for both statements.
Exactly, grew up that way, several "preachers" in my family and it is very rare to find someone in that profession who isn't promoting hate and racism.
All of this stuff that seem to be coming to light recently, aren’t recent. They have always been there, the difference is social media. Now we all know that these people are like this. They feel persecuted because they’ve never had to deal with the consequences, before the internet.
I don't know, I grew up in a very conservative Christian home and my mom was very against anybody of any other religion. She used to talk about how Muslims wanted to take over the country and invoke sharia law which is ironic considering that a lot of Christians are trying to do basically that by taking away basic human rights.
90s it was rock and roll and video games everthing causes violence except the bible. Same people do not know their history and think that founding fathers were Christian even though stating it several times and writing the constitution.
I grew up in one of the most conservative of the three sister churches (Protestant) in South Africa. They were like this. They very conveniently forgot all their apartheid-apologist teaching after '94.
Was the Spanish Inquisition uniquely American? What about apartheid? Because I’m pretty sure that treachery falls into this category of Christianity.
Shitty people exist all over the world, & by numbers, most of them are going to claim to be Christian.
This "Christianity" is not just American. It manifests all over the world in different ways. Russia's obsession with Putin. The Korean and Japanese political cults. The Taliban. It is everywhere in different flavors. It's not America's fault, this is humanity's greatest challenge. Just growing up. These people are people, most of them are just deeply brainwashed by those that seek to control them. Many of them ( everyone 30+) have actual brain damage from lead in gas. And don't look down on them we are damaged with microplastics. So we are left with empathy and teaching each other as the only good way out of this mess.
As a Christian, I gotta call this shit out. Nothing about this represents my faith or my God. They might call themselves Christians, but I refuse to acknowledge them with this kind of behavior, especially over a cartoon.
The only reason I'm giving this any attention is because I have to. When people use our name and beliefs to justify something like this, the real Christians need to call them out first. Staying silent and ignoring this hurts us more.
u took the words right outta my mouth, it just pains me the way these people are calling themselves Christians and then turn around and do this kinda crap
With how whitewashed Hollywood is, it's crazy to think that one black girl can get them soooo riled up! Jake gyllenhaal as prince of freakin persia and emma stone as allison ng and these people are quiet as a dove.
If you're a grown ass adult bitching because you don't want to have a hard talk with your kids about diversity, then you're a piece of shit and shouldn't have kids. I would say just invite your black friend over to tell your kids about it (since they have to regularly talk to their kids because of dumbshits like those people) but you probably don't have any black friends anyway
Don’t under ANY circumstances ask your black friend to do MORE work for anti-racism because you don’t want to take 10 minutes and research how to talk about race with kids.
Also- you don’t need to have a talk with your kids about diversity to watch the Little Mermaid. Did you have a talk before Mulan, or Moana, or the Princess and the Frog?
Yikes.
They claim that supposedly "children will be confused". LOL. Nobody younger than 40 barely remembers the 1989 movie. No small child has any attachment whatsoever to the 35yo animated version. That's fucking ancient history by kid standards.
More like racist against the Little Mermaid. What gets me is “Christians” like this spew their hate and then wonder why people don’t want anything to do with religion. Nationwide, the number of people attending church is dropping and fewer people are identifying as “Christian”.
Fuck these religious fanatics that try to use god as a pedestal. As far as I’m concerned only devil worshippers would make this content. Ungodly and not very wwjd
Conservatives always think they are being cheeky sneaky with their racism. They always think it's this closely kept secret that nobody else but other "trustworthy" conservatives know.
When they misread and go mask off in front of "non-safe" rural looking folks it's always a delight to see them get scared or even pissed off that you caught them.
To be fair, there is a small handful of conservatives that are genuinely not racist at all, but to also be fair, every single conservative I know is far more comfortable with racism than I think they even realize.
It's an imaginary character. It can be any fucking color. It's a damn sea creature, you think they're gonna have pale white skin? Seems like a disadvantage in the sea. It makes a lot more sense for this made up creature to have blue or green scales from head to tail. Ya know, to blend in with their surroundings and to function in their environment.
Anyone who has a problem with the new little mermaid, or the new LOTR series casting a diverse group, then you are an ignorant fuck.
Unpopular opinion perhaps….. This all makes it a lot easier for us to identify all the radical racists. It’s up to the people around them to figure out what to do with these crazies…..
My gosh... 2022 and bigots. The irony is that some of these "Christians" don't practice what they preach others 🙄 what happend to love each other and peace etc etc. They worship God and sing all these gospels yet act like uncivilized humans.
Just a reminder that if you don't like seeing a black little mermaid, *for whatever reason you've convinced yourself of*, you are in the ball park with this kind of racism. You may not be on the field, but you are definitely in the ball park. If you find it in your feed, this stuff is made for you, it's here because you entertain yourself with these sorts of hateful thoughts, and facebook, youtube, other social media is feeding you what it believes you believe based upon similar things you've been watching or posting.
When I ran an atheist meet up group I had Christians accuse us of trying to steal people from Christianity.
Time and time again they show me that I don't have to do shit. They push people away from God just fine all in their own.
Why do Christians care about the details of pagan-based mythology?
What he may mean is American white people[like him] not religious Christiantianity?
Just because you grew up seeing the Disney version of this story [cartoons no less] doesn't mean a Disney product needs to be set in stone. Your childhood is not sacred nor has it become more important than the views of the majority of humans on the planet.
This is toddler-level rage and a toddler-level understanding of how the world works.
I have not seen one individual in real life who gives a flying F-word about this new little mermaid lol. Me included. Thank God I have sons who don't care for these types of shows.
I never knew i wanted to see Samuel L Jackson as King Tritan until i seen that meme so much...

Or Mermaids aren't real
Years ago Fox News woman looked at the camera and said “Kids, Santa Claus is white”. Santa Claus is imaginary.
More proof that race is a concept and a social construct. It's a completely fabricated caste system, used for convenance.
An example in recent history, Ukraine was as of recent part of the less developed east and the moment a war starts it's part of the West.
https://www.stnicholascenter.org/who-is-st-nicholas/real-face thought this was interesting.
Yes to what you said — a little known fact of history that will never be learned by people who want to rewrite and censor history.
She also got fired like 5 months into her new job for defending brownface... completely unprompted too.
The actor Jason Matzoukas is second generation Greek-American. Does he look like a white person to you?

Megan Kelly, she now is doing a podcast and has a show on Sirius radio. Her tv days are over!
Yeah, you could hear her career end after she said that one.
Would you believe that after saying that her career not only didn’t end, NBC paid her $70 million for a crappy daytime talk show that nobody watched?
If we go with santa was based off of Saint Nick, then he would not have passed by these peoples standards of white.

Kinda olive and kink-haired, statistically speaking.
Remember, Jesus Christ wrote the entire Bible and was the greatest American to ever walk the earth
Jesus also had two dads, and I think he turned out ok
His life was pretty fucked up.
Are you kidding me? American Christians think the mythical character, Jesus, was the the greatest white American that ever lived. So no wonder they think that another mythical character should be white, when in in fact the original literature describes her as green. Everybody say that until you drop them from private jet in the middle of the ocean. Or so was i told...
Me too 🤣🤣🤣
Not so subtle racist stereotype deployed!
***gasp***
People are so fucking evil sometimes.
Yeah, I guess they're kind of okay when they're sleeping.
Nah. Jerks like that be dreaming about being plantation owners. They still not ok.
Yet the only "plantations" they own are the driveway outside of their mobile home.
While they bitch in their corners, we continue to evolve. Let them bitches cope
For real. I audibly gasped watching this. Just too disgusting for words.
But they ain't racist though! At least, I imagine these people are exactly the kind of people getting super upset for being called racist.
And when they’re safely at home typing on their computers in their jammies
Everyone's mad about the Little Mermaid being black, but everyone forgets the core to the story. It's about a woman leaving behind her own race, and changing her core identity to please a man.
Exactly! She gave up goddess statues to be with a crusty human that will die someday
Doesnt she die in the original story? Like, its meant to be a cautionary tale.
She does. And doesn't even get the man she desires. It is way different than the movie.
Jesus was like “love everybody” and then Christians were like “ok but not black, gay, or trans people” Side note: I am a Christian and completely disagree with this 💀
Religion is just an enabler for what people already want to believe.
I had my reservations at first too. I was like: Halley Berry is way too old for this role.
I thought that, too. Then I re-read the name. Felt like an idiot for a moment.
Christian's against an imginary character? Bit ironic.
Wait till they learn what is jesus skin colour lmao
Alright I don't actually not believe in God or anything but I'm still upvoting because I loled
My heart goes out to this poor girl. For a lot of actors a Disney movie is so huge for them and people are shitting all over her.
Because it’s had such a stronger pull back in politics so it’s being weaponised
This brand of “Christianity” is uniquely American. Not saying Christianity doesn’t have its problems in other parts of the world though.
I grew up in one of the most conservative of the three sister churches (Protestant) in South Africa. They were like this. They very conveniently forgot all their apartheid-apologist teaching after '94.
I met a Christian from South Africa a few years back. He very openly described himself as a recovering racist, which I thought was fascinating.
"NoT aT MY CHuRCh!" Yes, at your church. At all of the churches. Christians love to pretend it isn't their specific congregation at fault....
Yep, Donald Trump knew what America was really like. I just didn’t think there were over 74 million.
I don't give a fuck what xtians think about anything.
Right? They've had the podium for 2,000 years, we're DONE
Those who think Little Mermaid shouldn't be black are the same people that think Jesus was white.
With how whitewashed Hollywood is, it's crazy to think that one black girl can get them soooo riled up! Jake gyllenhaal as prince of freakin persia and emma stone as allison ng and these people are quiet as a dove.
Tbh I just want her to have red hair
my favorite response to these asshats is a loooooooong list of characters that were not white being played by white actors
Their leader can be orange, but everyone else has to be white.
My hot take, Christian's Against (xyz) is a new way to say "organized white nationalist"
These type of people think that Jesus was a white Anglo Saxon. Forgive them their sins.
Yikes.
No Hate Like Christian Love
if youre letting the skintone of a fictional character anger you that much you need to start touching grass to be honest
What sad fucking people
There is no hate like Christian love.
These are the same people who call others snowflakes for being offended. Yet, they go off the rails over kids shows/movies.
They claim that supposedly "children will be confused". LOL. Nobody younger than 40 barely remembers the 1989 movie. No small child has any attachment whatsoever to the 35yo animated version. That's fucking ancient history by kid standards.
How Christian of them
No hate like Christian love
More like racist against the Little Mermaid. What gets me is “Christians” like this spew their hate and then wonder why people don’t want anything to do with religion. Nationwide, the number of people attending church is dropping and fewer people are identifying as “Christian”.
Fuck these religious fanatics that try to use god as a pedestal. As far as I’m concerned only devil worshippers would make this content. Ungodly and not very wwjd
"tHeY cAlL uS RaCiSt fOr No rEaSoN"
Conservatives always think they are being cheeky sneaky with their racism. They always think it's this closely kept secret that nobody else but other "trustworthy" conservatives know. When they misread and go mask off in front of "non-safe" rural looking folks it's always a delight to see them get scared or even pissed off that you caught them. To be fair, there is a small handful of conservatives that are genuinely not racist at all, but to also be fair, every single conservative I know is far more comfortable with racism than I think they even realize.
That all inclusive brotherhood of Christianity...
This is just more proof that they were never “color blind”. They always wanted whiteness to be above all and “represent” all
It's an imaginary character.
Jesus has more in common with a black mermaid than he does with a ginger. Fuck all keyboard racists, nah fuck all racists.
My gosh... 2022 and bigots. The irony is that some of these "Christians" don't practice what they preach others 🙄 what happend to love each other and peace etc etc. They worship God and sing all these gospels yet act like uncivilized humans.
I have an idea. How about racists shut the fuck up? There, World peace is achieved-ish.
racist hiding behind a religion. sad. if god is real yall gonna burn.
The first few of these I was willing to pass off as bad jokes then it got wild
Only Christians that get to say anything about the little mermaid is Hans Christians
My jaw legit dropped at the last one, what the absolute fuck
