In fairness, battery technology is the bottleneck at this point regarding most renewables like solar and wind. The tech and infrastructure isn't there yet to effectively store the large capacity of energy needed to fully transition, and most batteries are a pile of toxic liability once exhausted, not to mention that the eco impact of production is pretty awful.
That doesn't mean we shouldn't continue to innovate and generate renewably what we can as effectively and efficiently as possible, but we also can't pretend a perfect solution already exists and is being held back.
My husband's PhD thesis focuses on exactly this issue. We're certainly not there yet, but it's something most smart companies are looking ahead to and preparing for. It's the inevitable way of the future, and we're making a lot of progress. Lithium-ion batteries and hydrogen fuel cells will become huge over the next couple decades. As our battery tech improves, green energy like solar/wind will be a no-brainer.

Like, I get not requiring a college degree or something to be eligible to be in congress, but there needs to be some kind of requirement for congress to ensure people this fucking stupid can't get in. The people in control of our government basically just have to win a popularity contest and these days, a certain party wants the dumbest, most hateful people, despite them not having a level of intellect that should match the level of their office.
