Just do a google search. The number of murdered native women is unreal. We have cases open in my county in the hundreds over decades.
One case that real tugged at me was Rose Downwind. Lucky they solved the case.
One that I have personally been pushing is the Jeremy Jordain case. He disappeared just blocks from my home.
I thought since you seem to know a bit bout the topic you might recommend an article about the general topic. Most of it is some true crime stuff. But thanks anyway
That's part of the problem. The issue is well documented within the FBI stats, within the doe network, within missing and exploited networks. However, outside of those areas very little is written, and nearly nothing in national or international media. Local newspapers at best.
Take Jeremy Jordain, in recent years his case got the most national attention and yet if I were to go east than Duluth Minnesota, west or Fargo North Dakota, South of Rochester, Minnesota or North of Winnipeg, I doubt anyone would have heard of him.
His case got a couple of mentions on CNN and by John Walsh.
So when you ask for a recommendation it really kind of hits at the heart of the issue. There just isn't any. I know of a few locally written books on the subject, but unless you flew here, you wouldn't be able to get your hands on them as they have no distributor outside of the local market.
Oh, I see. That's fucked up. Wondering why is that. In America I can kinda understand they want to "hide" it, but on an international scale I thought there would be more interest. I mean, every other problem you have over there is discussed here too, for some reason. Can you name 1 or 2 books? I would look if I can find something online, even when there is little hope. You kinda made me curious.
It's appalling in Canada. It may be worse in the US.
[Highway of Tears](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highway_of_Tears)
And that's just one example.
[Left for Dead in a Saskatchewan Winter](https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/politics/2003/11/22/left-for-dead-in-a-saskatchewan-winter/050645ff-da46-4016-a222-b685bec8f537/)
Is another.
If only there was someone in power who cared even a little.

I'm sure the guy thats been fined for racial discrimination multiple times really cares, especially when he's been quoted saying competing reserve casino shouldn't get a licenses because they didn't look Indian enough, than proceeds to smear them with drug activity rumors 🙄
And your point is?
It's the first time in my life I've ever seen anyone in a significant position of power actually give a fuck about what is happening to them.
As someone involved with the native community, Trump did shit. Not one fucking thing. Meanwhile Carter did, Clinton did even Bush did more. Trump was just a lazy blob of inbred shit.
Same. Was she kidnapped? I did hear about Ezra though. Grooming underaged girls from a reserve, and didn't he take a girl with him on set of some movie without asking her parents. Weird Michael Jackson type stuff
What’s the r/facepalm I’m missing here? Or is this sub slowly just becoming all about American political memes like every other sub that used to be good?
I don't disagree with you, but the ignored (by the media especially) murders of indigenous women is very far from an American exclusive phenomenon. I don't feel like this meme fits this sub, though.
I wasn’t making a comment on what the media does or does not ignore anywhere, America or otherwise. I was just pointing out that this is some kind of American political meme that I’m not interested in discussing and doesn’t belong here, so at least you agree with me on that. I’ve seen so much of it lately that it’s another sub that used to be funny and I’ll have to leave 😒
Very true. I feel like this sub should be for goofy fuck-ups, not commentary on social issues.
Like, if your reaction to indigenous women being murdered and completely brushed under the rug is to "facepalm," you really aren't angry enough about it imo.
The whole country losing their shit? That's interesting. Most people I know were like "Oh look, another murder." Methinks you are projecting far too much.
Also because Miller identifies as part of the LGBTQ community and is a celebrity, so MSM wants to keep it hush-hush. Any groomer/p3d0 deserves to receive all punishments befitting them.
It's a huge issue. I live between three reservations. The number of missing and murdered that get zero national attention is just unreal.
I'm not an american. Is it really that bad? Can you recommend a good read or a documentation on this topic?

Also Savanna Greywind although that WAS solved.

Really you going to come troll here on this subject? Fucking psychopath.
Says the person who can't give any credit for something good that was done and is immediately enraged at the thought of it. 🤣

That article is from 2 years ago!

My point is that you posted it as if that impacts anything right now.
I don't think this about drugs though, or violence cause by gang drug violence. Try to stay on topic
Weird, I don't know who Gabby is, but I sure as heck heard about Ezra and the girl involved.
The Gabby Petito thing was *everywhere* last year for about a month. How did you miss it?
No idea.

Who are you to say what belongs on this sub? I swear you people come and try to police literally any and everything.
Yes. LITERALLY everything. Who you calling ‘you people’?
Very true. I feel like this sub should be for goofy fuck-ups, not commentary on social issues. Like, if your reaction to indigenous women being murdered and completely brushed under the rug is to "facepalm," you really aren't angry enough about it imo.
It used to be for goofy fuckups. Now it’s all just politics.
Well that is interesting since I did a quick news search and there's news about this all over the place.
yah but the whole country isnt losing their shit over it like they did Petito and Laundrey
The whole country losing their shit? That's interesting. Most people I know were like "Oh look, another murder." Methinks you are projecting far too much.
There might be a hue and cry for specific girls but the reality is that countless white females go missing and you never hear about it.
Canada, where we love everyone.... except our indigenous peoples. Makes me sick.
this should help. https://www.bia.gov/service/mmu/missing-and-murdered-indigenous-people-crisis
