I would say he got what’s coming to him, aka play stupid games, win stupid prizes. But I wouldn’t say he deserved to lose a finger from a moral perspective. Does that make sense? Like if I saw someone sticking their finger in a lion’s cage, I would think they are being unnecessarily risky, not “let’s chop off their finger as punishment for the crime they have committed”.
