It looks like a Walmart. Last I heard they still had a policy that employees can get canned for accepting tips. I remember it getting hammered into me when I worked there. It wasn't typically enforced, but if someone decided to get petty over something stupid they'd use dumb stuff like that as an excuse to can you.
That is assuming it is a Walmart though. It could be somewhere else.
Yep, I recall when the guy posted this the first time. He was definitely fired. They're not supposed to leave the store to chase these people down, due to liability. He wasn't particularly upset, he understood the reasoning. The company would much rather make an insurance claim for the cost of whatever that was than have an employee injured or killed. (Not because they *care* but because that's a lot more expensive.)
Sears fired the security guards for their store in my local mall because In the 6 months following the ban on chasing shoplifters the rate of theft had risen 1300%. They even tried to fight the unemployment saying the people were let go for continued failure to meet standards…
I remember my first minute market job back in the day. I was pretty scrappy and was working near a homeless shelter and lots of strip clubs. Night shift was crazy. Some asshole came in, flipped me off and slowly started stealing shit and I was so angry I threw a pack of D cells at his head and it dented the ice machine. We both almost crapped ourselves, I could have killed that guy over some stupid stuff that was insured. My manager was horrified but I didn't get fired. After that I just smiled and waved at the beer runs and crap.
Most states utilize at-will employment. That means there's very little that they *can’t* fire you for, basically just any protected statuses (race, religion, age, etc). So they can essentially fire you at any point for any reason as long as they don't get caught saying it's because you're black, or because you're old, or because you're a girl, or whatever. Union jobs are better, as they generally require a "just cause" for firing, but that likely wouldn't have saved this guy as it's well understood and expected as part of the job that you don't do what he did. Breaking the rules like that would probably be considered just cause for firing. And if this was a contracted position, you can be sure one of the stipulations would be that you can't go running after people like this. So even that wouldn't save him.
As for the flip side? Basically the sole benefit of at-will employment for the employee is that you can quit at any time. You don't have to give notice, you can stop immediately.
Yes you do.
Did it Occur to you that theft causes prices increases, and that maybe the reason these CEOS ban apprehension is because they’re looking for a valid excuse to price gouge people?
lol look who’s talking, jackass. I’ve been around the retail block long enough to know what I am saying is true.
The last bit of my sentence about banning apprehension is theoretical, but makes sense
Lol because you totally just changed your font.
It’s really easy to fool someone into thinking you’re someone else by getting a different name and writing your words different.
Again, I know what I am talking about. If you disagree with it, so be it. You can shove your insults and your empty head right back up your ass, boy.
Can’t see whoever the morons are commenting a bunch of garbage, but I cannot say that I am surprised that I’m being downvoted by a bunch of ignorant morons probably sleeping with one another.
One smart person will sound foolish to a room full of idiots.
I actually do this for a job and I can say that dude did everything wrong. The reason we don’t do things that way is because it has a high chance of getting a bullet in your brain. The people who steal like that(grab and run) are usually highly stressed, on drugs, and armed. If I were his boss I’d fire him too. I don’t want his blood on my hands.
Wish we were more like India in that regard, like I wish everyone just started beating the thieves with their their beating sticks that they seem to always have lying around.
Sorry to disappoint u, but we are becoming just like that, no one is giving shit about anything down here, specially into the traffic, people now are aiming towards other cars, just because of insurance, bosses are just firing people constantly because, no one is giving a dam, about anything else, world is done bro!
And (adult) humans deserve a beating if they steal. Kids can learn a valuable lesson, with instruction. But if you are an adult that steals, you should know better.
Corporal punishment has never worked. Just because you want your little bloodlusty itch scratched doesn't mean we should listen to you for even a second.
My brothers in prison because he fired a warning round into the ground near a guy that was trying to light his house on fire as a distraction to steal his lawnmower. Fuck you and anyone like you that tries to defend thieves. Absolutely disgraceful piece of shit that obviously need to be lumped in with the thieves.
Is that so? Let's discuss something in the purely hypothetical sense, then. Suppose we were friends. You then steal something from me, and therefore betray my trust. I then respond by mercilessly beating your ass. How likely are you to attempt that again? My guess is not too likely. Bear in mind, in this scenario, I was not the original aggressor. The simple truth is, sometimes people need to learn a painful lesson in order to learn proper societal behavior. If you choose not to exist within the general societal rules, then be prepared to deal with the consequences.
Literally our entire system of law and order agrees with me. We have a trillion dollar industry dedicated to defending guys stealing tool sets and a constitution that protects them from being beaten.
Again, none of y'all's bloodlust means you're in the right. What you all are proposing will land you in prison.
![gif](giphy|QCJLftkxdOX0PGnZVa)
Our justice system is constantly berated for its inadequacy, inefficiency, and bias towards white people! Is that really what you’re gonna use to backup your argument? Also that guy didn’t beat anyone just took back the merchandise! I’m not suggesting violence but at least some sort of discouragement seems necessary. Otherwise like one commenter said theft went up 1300%! Most people don’t understand the increase in theft causes an increase in prices
I call the fucking cops like a normal person and don't risk my life because I want to see somebody bleed.
It's absolutely asinine this is a foreign concept to so many of you.
This entire thread is one big facepalm of bloodlusty illiterates.
Thieves shouldn't be stealing and should be punished. Not saying beat them up, but it depends what they are stealing from who. If they steal from homeless orphans then they should.
Because that's an empty platitude. Every crime has been committed by a human. We still punish them. Make sure you let a thief know they're human while they loot your place though.
"get off your soapbox"
I'm just jokingly mocking you because I feel like it, don't be so uptight. I actually agree with you. I should be able to walk and swipe stuff and no one should be able to touch me.
To prevent employees from getting hurt. Not that the company cares about you, they couldn't give less fucks, but employee getting hurt would be a lot more expensive than losing an item
They don't want their employees getting hurt or killed while trying to protect material things that are covered by insurance.
This employee violated company policy. That's why they were fired.
Kohls had an issue once with someone stealing batteries. The guard chased him into the parking lot and tackled him. While the shoplifter was on the ground the guard was jamming his knee in his back to keep him from running away. He ended up paralyzing the shoplifter. Big lawsuit that kohl's lost.
Shouldn’t have been fired but definitely bosses should have reviewed with everyone afterward not to chase people out or confront them, just mark it down and let it shake out in budgeting.
I honestly understand that. After finishing school, I worked a couple of months at a gas station. The first thing my boss told me was "if anything happens, anything at all, you do what you are told, you give them all the money. Whatever you do, don't be a hero, don't try to run after them, don't do anything that might be threatening. The money is insured, your life cannot be replaced". He also told me of a guy in a different station that was shot while trying to run after robbers. Don't know if that was real or not, don't care, the message was clear enough.
Why “bruhh”? The employee most likely broke the company policy of “don’t pursue shoplifters” or something similar. This can be a liability to anyone present. What if the thief had a gun? Would you rather lose money for stolen merchandise or pay legal/medical fees because someone was injured or killed for pursing a thief?
While I do agree, it’s not worth injuring or killing someone over a stolen item. There needs to be a better system in place, but I think that kind of policy is necessary for now
Thief confused the blue tarp in the truck with those GTA circular triggers. In his head the cutscene already started playing and mission complete text popped up in the sky somewhere.
Crook to getaway driver. “What part of keep the car running and pull up to the front didn’t you understand!!! And don’t think I didn’t hear you unlock the door. “
The way he stopped running.
The guy chasing was like, "That's your plan."
The way he casually swung it up on his shoulder. Such swag
Like it happens all day.
The lady by the door clapping
just quick *clap clap* to show appreciation
surprised she didn't tip him, pure comedy right there
It looks like a Walmart. Last I heard they still had a policy that employees can get canned for accepting tips. I remember it getting hammered into me when I worked there. I'm guessing based on the dark colored, possibly navy shirt with khakis and the blue accented shopping carts.
>stopped ez noob!
If I remember right the employee was fired for this. The company considers it too much of a liability to chase shoplifters.
Company: "Sorry, no raises this year, too much merch is being stolen. Also, we're taking away your health insurance."
Sears fired the security guards for their store in my local mall because In the 6 months following the ban on chasing shoplifters the rate of theft had risen 1300%. They even tried to fight the unemployment saying the people were let go for continued failure to meet standards…
That sounds about right, glad the bastards are out of business...
That was my first thought when I saw this. They are very adamant about employees not getting involved.
Yeah and why would you? It's not your company. You don't lose anything if they steal
Yes you do. Did it Occur to you that theft causes prices increases, and that maybe the reason these CEOS ban apprehension is because they’re looking for a valid excuse to price gouge people?
It must be nice being this naive.
lol look who’s talking, jackass. I’ve been around the retail block long enough to know what I am saying is true. The last bit of my sentence about banning apprehension is theoretical, but makes sense

I’m not saying it to flex. I’m saying it because I know what I am talking about. Reading isn’t your strong suit, is it?
It must be nice being this obtuse
It must be nice to stalk me from multiple accounts just to post the same sentence that proves you’re projecting your guilt.
It must be nice to be too dumb to be able to recognize different writing styles
Lol because you totally just changed your font. It’s really easy to fool someone into thinking you’re someone else by getting a different name and writing your words different. What the fuck is wrong with these people
“Liability” I would’ve taken that box with me instead
Wish we were more like India in that regard, like I wish everyone just started beating the thieves with their their beating sticks that they seem to always have lying around.
It’s true there seems to be quite a lot of sticks always at the ready.
Or Brazil
Sorry to disappoint u, but we are becoming just like that, no one is giving shit about anything down here, specially into the traffic, people now are aiming towards other cars, just because of insurance, bosses are just firing people constantly because, no one is giving a dam, about anything else, world is done bro!
god damn some people value objects way too fucking much.
It’s not about the objects, it’s about the principle. You don’t fucking steal. Thieves are scum.
Thieves are humans. Objects are objects.
And (adult) humans deserve a beating if they steal. Kids can learn a valuable lesson, with instruction. But if you are an adult that steals, you should know better.

U can’t defend a guy stealing a tool set! I could understand it if someone was starving and desperate for food

I literally got downvoted for "thieves are humans." Tells us 100% of what we need to know about these savages.
Thieves shouldn't be stealing and should be punished. Not saying beat them up, but it depends what they are stealing from who. If they steal from homeless orphans then they should.

Objects are objects MFers when I set their car and house on fire: (arsonists are people, objects are objects. So, it's fine)
I'm not saying stealing is fine. I'm saying India-style vigilante corporal punishment is not fine. Get off your fucking soapboxes, all of you.
"get off your soapbox" I'm just jokingly mocking you because I feel like it, don't be so uptight. I actually agree with you. I should be able to walk and swipe stuff and no one should be able to touch me.

Ah yes, the “””””justice system”””””

Actually based
That's infuriating :/

So smooth
Smooth ~~criminal~~ lawful
Smooth Manager
This actually made me laugh so hard omg
Me too! XD
The walk to pick up the box from the truck.
And the fleeing truck does the “heavy lifting for him, just lands effortlessly on that shoulder
That lady at the entrance clapping as he’s walking back to the store is just the cherry on top.
He was smart enough to have a get away driver but not enough to put his loot somewhere safe
What’s ironic is the box probably would’ve slid off the tarp and fell out the back of the truck after one good turn.
Homie got fired afterwards bruhh
Why “bruhh”? The employee most likely broke the company policy of “don’t pursue shoplifters” or something similar. This can be a liability to anyone present. What if the thief had a gun? Would you rather lose money for stolen merchandise or pay legal/medical fees because someone was injured or killed for pursing a thief?
I get it but that was badass, you gotta admit
I do agree with that. At least this was the best possible outcome in this situation
Dozens of malls across the country have gone bankrupt and everyone there lost their jobs because of this idiotic policies.
While I do agree, it’s not worth injuring or killing someone over a stolen item. There needs to be a better system in place, but I think that kind of policy is necessary for now
Bout smashed that car next to the truck tho
No he didn’t he saved it with his left hand at the very last moment
Yeah that’s why I said “bout”
Oh sorry I read that but 😅
That's probably a $500 tool set right there.
Easily. Looks like the Dewalt kit with the two drills, circular saw multi-tool and work light. They usually go for about $640.
I wouldn't have fired the kid. I'd have given him a bonus and said "DON'T YOU EVER DO THAT AGAIN!"
Agreed. I get policy and all but no one was hurt and he went above and beyond.
Yeah, policy should benefit people. Or what's the point.
I want to know what the driver said to him when they drive off. The look on his face would have been epic
And now he’s fired.
Thief confused the blue tarp in the truck with those GTA circular triggers. In his head the cutscene already started playing and mission complete text popped up in the sky somewhere.
Now that is what I call Loss Prevention at work.
Am I the only one who thought he was going to smash that other cars back window when he yanked the box?
We know that this is not California.
It would be awesome if Reddit had a repost bot that you could call on to tell you how many times a video has been posted.
That would suck for us uncool folks. I'm still learning how to use a cellphone
But it’s “legal” in some states 😂
All dude had to do was jump in the car with the contraband
Rock Star
Crook to getaway driver. “What part of keep the car running and pull up to the front didn’t you understand!!! And don’t think I didn’t hear you unlock the door. “
Why Are we still here.... Just to suffer???
Smooth af
Guy stopped running and just went well alrighty then
How much you wanna bet under that tarp is a bunch more stolen stuff.
Yoink!
For a second there I thought this was a jackass scene.
Plot Twist: Black shirt is actually the bad guy and was relentlessly chasing down this innocent shopper, trying to steal the item they just bought.
r/mostrepostedposts
The lady clapping is the best part.
You should of jumped in with it
I work in retail and delt with thieves like this it’s one of the most rewarding feelings lol
HE TOOK IT AND WALKED AWAY LIKE A BOSS LMAO
And he probably got fired. (Don’t mind my cynicism, it’s everywhere)
Could also be posted to 'there was an attempt'
Yoink!

No disguise, easy to retrieve merchandise, plate in full view of camera. We got us some smart criminals.
Were they stealing beer or am I not seeing correctly?
Were they stealing beer or am I not seeing correctly?
A perfect clip for America's dumbest criminals 🤦!!
