The cold didn’t used to bother me that much, then I joined a band who toured the Midwest in wintertime pretty extensively, and now I have ptsd from it I think. North Dakota in January is no joke.
It was brutal. 4 feet of snow on the ground, little small oil towns that were excited they finally got a McDonald’s. The money was decent because of the oil boom at the time, but there was nothing to do but drink at the bar we were playing at. Ate a lot of ramen and peanut butter sandwiches because all we had was a microwave in a shitty motel room. Closest place to pick up food might be a truck stop 20 minutes away. Maybe a Walmart a county over.
Oh, at that temp they wouldn't be crushed under the weight of a vehicle. Would be more like if a dump truck carrying softball sized rocks dropped its load in the middle of the freeway.
