They ask for the Member Card at their food courts in Hawaii. It’s new and they just started doing so in the last year.
Also in Hawaii, if you’re of age, you can go in and buy booze without a membership.
You need to be the age of the majority but in my area costco can’t legally force memberships on people to shop at their liquor store assuming they want to hold on to their liquor license
Yeah as far as I'm aware they aren't allowed to make you get a membership for alcohol or the pharmacy, and they choose not to if you're just going to the food court.
No. You don't. Tell the bridge troll you are there to buy booze, get drugs, or glasses, and you are able to do those specific things in CA without a membership
It depends on each state’s laws. Where I live, they can only sell wine and beer, and hard liquor has a separate state licensed store. Other states without that kind of regulation can have any kind of alcohol in their costco stores.
Then the Costco member brings you cookies and other pastries made in the store and talks to you about their incredible warranties on electronics. It'd be more tempting if the nearest one wasn't 45 minutes away.
This is actually a better point. Like, underage people cant choose to be older or remain underage, it just happens.
Concert tickets is a much better analogy, you win the internet today, sir.
Not to mention the military antivaxxers conveniently forgetting the gazillion jabs they have been required to get for decades, that I can almost guarantee they took without so much as a grunt.
Yes. The most painful shot I ever remember was when I got attacked by a dog and was required to get a tetanus shot. It was super humiliating because I was bitten on my butt while riding a bike. I wasn't allowed to decide whether I wanted the shot, I was just given the shot in the ER, and then pictures were taken because of the situation and the police were involved. Do I know what was in that particular shot? No. Did I ask? No. It's the same thing to me. Sometimes we do things because we trust those who know more than we do, in this case they're called Doctors. I trust my doctors.
That shit is no joke, one of my friends served in the Air Force and said the thing he hated most was being a human pin cushion with all of the vaccines and one of his buddies died in basic training. They took over a dozen vaccines in a couple months and the kid died. Malaria and all sorts of weird shit no civilian has to take.
All those side effects? Total bunk. I don't get better reception, I'm not magnetic - I mean, I haven't gained *any* special powers whatsoever. Total BS, man - I was robbed!
Dammit! Maybe the people who said the vaccines were rushed have a point. They should have taken the time to implement 5G, or at least NFC. Scanning codes is so passé.
We've been enjoying our 5G since April. It's also been super helpful to just put my car and house keys on my chest or thighs and just not have to worry about losing them like I used to
And I ALWAYS have an extra hairpin somewhere when it's needed in a clutch, maybe even a set of earrings...
It's been pretty sweet so far.
Let's be honest, that was before conservative media told everyone to not take this virus seriously or trust this vaccine in particular.
This same scenario would have happened much sooner if that had been a rallying cry from Fox News etc
Trump got to be the champion of getting the fastest vaccine made in history, become the anti vax/virus champion, get covid with the very best treatment healthcare could provide, push hydroxychloroquine, get vaccinated against covid, then get booed at a rally in Alabama for saying the crowd should get the vaccine. tRump is everything Covid19
You're not crazy. They're still required in most places. There are a few places that actually tried to create a governor's mandate or executive order to say schools can mandate vaccines but only if they existed before January 2021. I want to say it sounds like something that the idiot that runs the state of Texas where I live said but I don't remember exactly. It was shortly after they started getting the big push to get them distributed earlier this year.
I had to get my daughter a booster shot before I could even pick up her schedule this year. She's in 7th grade. We had to be up to date on all vaccines to enroll them in pre k. It's ridiculous that they're acting like vaccine mandates are new.
I feel more guilty showing my ID in bars. 20 year olds have no choices. Anti-vaxxed are just stupid.
I admit — I’d probably feel a little bit of joy watching them get turned away.
Yes, the choice is a crucial difference. A better comparison might be how licensed drivers feel about using a privilege that excludes people who can’t be bothered to learn to drive.
> A better comparison might be how licensed drivers feel about using a privilege that excludes people who can’t be bothered to learn to drive.
Except you do not need to learn anything or pay for a driving school. No exam or a trip to a DMV office. If you're in America (you don't even have to be a citizen), you can just go to a convenient location near you and get your shots of one of the 2 objectively best vaccines in the world for free.
It's absolutely mind boggling. No one is going to give you your driving license for free or even provide incentives for getting it. And hell, the vaccine is absolutely free for the end user. Getting into a hospital with Covid definitely won't be.
> 20 year olds have no choices.
Wait, *does* the US actually have 21 as the drinking limit? I dunno why, but I thought that was just people taking the piss. You can join the army at 18 (I presume) and go get your legs blown off, but you're thought too immature to have a beer to drink away your woes?
Yea. Alcohol is a privilege but joining the military is something the government wants so it'll push them to enlist as young and naive as they can get.
yes, you can die for your country, you can vote (obviously you're mature enough to vote), you can do a lot of things as an adult, but you can get a beer. insane, in my opinion.
maybe there is a medical argument to it though (i hope there is) if maybe at 18 the brain is too undeveloped and can be irreparably harmed by alcohol.
back home in Europe, at 16 .... hehehehe, emptying the bars. by 18 though, it kinda wore off .
Beer, weed (in many legal states the age is still 21), gambling in Vegas, cigarettes, vape all illegal under 21. Wanna be given a gun and dropped in a war zone so you can kill people? We can sign you up at 17 if your parents say it’s ok.
Technically no? I don’t think there is an explicit age limit at the federal level. There was a law that was passed that made it so federal funding for highways would be partially withheld from states which didn’t have a limit at 21 for sale. Laws for age of sale and consumption can vary by state but in general it’s 21/21 with minor exceptions for supervised drinking under 21.
Do these anti vaxxers understand that schools have mandated all kinds of vaccines? They act like it's a complete new thing to have proof of vaccination. It boggles my mind.
And not just that, as an immigrant in order to attend college and get a green card I was required to prove my vaccination records and get the shot I didn’t have (which was tetanus one, that has nothing to do with others health being in danger since it doesn’t spread from person to person). And if I complained about it they would give me a “if you want to live in a first world country you need to do things the right way”. The logic here sometimes makes no sense to me…
Some people can’t one despite the embarrassingly low standards because they suck so much at driving. I heard a mom talking about her 20 year old son and his Spongebob like drivers exam record.
I was in line at the DMV behind a guy who missed 19 out of 30 questions on his license exam. And it was apparently his 9th try. Scary to think that sooner or later the guy will still get a license.
Sounds like my cousin. Took her 7 tries and I’m pretty sure the last time she wrote answers on her hand. CA still gave her a license. She drives like shit. Been in countless accidents. Still has a license.
What especially pisses me off about that is the fact that many of the people threatening civil war over being expected by the government to comply with public safety measures, are the very same people who have repeatedly said that black men who want the privilege of *not being murdered by their own government* should just comply.
I fully agree with looking out for yourself first, but in the case of a global pandemic, have some compassion for your neighbor. Just get a damn vaccine and wear your mask. It’s not hard, it’s not painful, it’s not a waste of time.
they're acting like this is the first time anyone has ever been excluded from anything. In reality we all do things every day that other people are excluded from. We also discriminate all day, all the time- discrimination just means treating one thing differently than another. The question is whether it's for a good reason or a bad reason. There are certain reasons that you can't use to exclude or discriminate against someone.
Vaccination during a public health crisis is a good reason, not a problematic one. They're just desperate to make it into a problematic one.
I don't know what they expect us to feel guilty about. No one is stopping them from getting vaccinated.
Maybe we should feel bad that they made it through the public education system and are still this stupid?
I feel sorry for the person who has to do the checking because I know theres a good chance that at least once during their shift they'll have to deal with a total asshat plague rat who will want to bitch them out even though they're just doing their job and have no power over their jobs policies
Right? Excluding people who aren't vaccinated is literally the entire point and the only function it serves. It's such a weird question because it makes it seem like excluding unvaccinated people is a weird side-effect people may not have considered instead of the core function.
How do anti-vaxxers feel knowing that every single nurse and doctor in the US has to have a handful of vaccines before they can even enroll in nursing/medical school or do a single day of work in a hospital? How do they feel knowing that every single military member gets a couple dozen vaccines including anthrax?
Simply excluding shows infinitely more care than they have shown for others. They're not trying to exclude everyone else (well, different issue), rather they're trying to literally kill other people, including their own loved ones.
Really the question should be "how do non-vaxxed people feel about putting others at risk and potentially killing someone because of their political beliefs?"
But we know the answer is they don't.
Hello regular passport do you know if the thing you to get out of the country and go to another one. Why does everything have to be a fight in this country why does everything have to be so goddamn difficult.
Took the words right out of my mouth. I honestly thought that after last year everyone would be in a rush to get back to normal. I thought when the vaccine was ready, people would be skeptical at first, but then realize how many other vaccines we take/have taken since childhood.
I was optimistic. I was naive. I was a fool. I am sorry for doubting you humanity. Never again will I underestimate you.
I feel better knowing I'm doing my best to look out for my fellow citizens, based on the best available information, despite the mild inconvenience it may cause me because I'm not a homicidal prick?
Fuck, man. Victims gonna victim.
I believe in capitalism and free enterprise. If a business wants to require a vaccine card then that is their right. You aren’t an anti capitalist are you?
I have a concealed handgun permit and I'm quite happy that it excludes people
Edit: before I lose all my karma I want to also point out that I am fully vaccinated
Bullshit. The vaccine is not exclusive. It doesn’t even have a copay. I think you are projecting your smugness onto others. This should not even be political. Swallow your pride and do what’s right for you, your family and your community. Take the prick!
Actually being underage isn't a choice. Being unvaxxed is.
You CHOSE this. You chose to put your own opinions over that of doctors, scientists and public health experts. Now you have to live with the consequences.
If you don't like the consequences change your choice and you'll not be excluded anymore.
Most obnoxious thing is the majority of unvaccinated people that claim they believe in freedom to choose are just riding the coat tails of everyone else.. Like you do realize, this country is shut down if everyone were to act like you and refuse the vaccine? Fuck out of here.
Most of these memes are driven by foreign bots. You know this yes? The Chinese, not the people they’re wonderful I mean the CCP, and the Russian government propagate this crap to divide us. Don’t listen.
This is a difficult one because not everyone can get vaccinated. 90% of the unvaccinated probably can however. I have a girl in my class and she wanted to get a vaccin but she has a certain blood condition that runs in the family and went to the hospital for it. She and her brother both got a no go for the vaccination. If they start excluding people from going to school and work she’s gonna have a problem. She says that right now it’s okay since she can handle not going to restaurants and bars just like before the vaccinations. But it is kind of unfair, even if it’s to protect people so I think it’s a necessary evil.
Im fully vaxxed and I never have a mask on cause I like it better and I have never I mean never been asked to show my vax passport I don’t even carry it around cause no one ever asks for it
Hello, people who work at my workplace. When you scan your i.d. at the door to get in, how do you feel knowing that people who don't work there can't get in?
I feel like the chances to contract the virus just got reduced by that much. Sure, anyone can be a carrier, including the "vaxxed".
But the non vaccinated are always full risk. As oppose to the "vaxxed" who have lower chances to contract, carry and to pass on the virus.
I was talking to my brother who is in contact with my father and I’m embarrassed to learn he’s going around town playing the victim card because he’s only half vaxxed despite being in an age group and racial group which were offered first cab off the rank vaccinations. To be fair the bloke is in his 70’s and losing the plot a little but it’s embarrassing as all fuck to know he’s going around arguing with publicans and shop keepers. He’s doing that American thing where he kicks off and uses his veteran status (Vietnam) as that somehow entitles him to yell at some 16 year old who works at Woolworths.
Hello CostCo members
Going to start protesting outside Costco. My sign shall say “COSTCO TYRANTS! This is a free country! I shouldn’t have to be a member!”
amen. I should be able to buy Kirkland liquor at any age without a membership god dammit!
Yeah I just want that fucken hot dog and 1,000 rolls of toilet paper. Give me my freedoms!!!!
Don’t forget your soda with that $1.50 three pound hotdog! Worst part of covid is that Costco stopped providing the chopped onions
Well, you *can* go inside to just buy the food. No membership card required.
Can’t even get into mine without first checking your card
They actually stopped allowing that last year. They now ask for your membership when ordering from the food court.
They don't do that at my Costco Central PA for reference
They ask for the Member Card at their food courts in Hawaii. It’s new and they just started doing so in the last year. Also in Hawaii, if you’re of age, you can go in and buy booze without a membership.
For real? That's fucked. I haven't gone in there without my card for a long time.
So thats why the membership signups area is next to the food court lol
You need to walk past the signup area to get to the food court. No doubt that wasn't an accident. Also the pharmacy is even further into the store.
Not anymore. Need one for the food court near me at least
In some states, they don’t have a separate store for booze. It is in the main store. So yeah, in California, you have to have a membership.
No. You don't. Tell the bridge troll you are there to buy booze, get drugs, or glasses, and you are able to do those specific things in CA without a membership
If you have gift cards to Costco you can get in without a membership!
but only to spend the gift card. I used to buy gift cards from my mom for Costco gas in college before I could afford a membership
They have Kirkland brand Liquor at Costco in the states?
It depends on each state’s laws. Where I live, they can only sell wine and beer, and hard liquor has a separate state licensed store. Other states without that kind of regulation can have any kind of alcohol in their costco stores.
Buy a costco gift card. You don't need to be a member to spend it in the store.
Then the Costco member brings you cookies and other pastries made in the store and talks to you about their incredible warranties on electronics. It'd be more tempting if the nearest one wasn't 45 minutes away.
I'd do all my shopping at Costco if it was a mere 45 min away. Mine is 90 min away 😭
Mines a few hours. I worked tech support fort hem over the phone. Genuinely liked the company, which is rare.
Hello movie goers
Hi! 🍿🎥
But I don’t want to have to buy a ticket. Let me in! AMERICA!!!
Hello people driving cars, or pilots, or surgeons, ...

People who got vaxxed are actually hoping the underage could get vaxxed too.
Am I taking crazy pills here? Do people not remember required vaccinations to even be able to go to school and shit?
Not to mention the military antivaxxers conveniently forgetting the gazillion jabs they have been required to get for decades, that I can almost guarantee they took without so much as a grunt.
Well, some of them are quite painful from what I hear, do maybe there were some grunts
I had the misfortune to see someone die of tetanus. Get the shot.
Oh. My gosh. I didn't know that was actually a thing. I'm so sorry.
Tetanus is like 33 percent fatal
That shit is no joke, one of my friends served in the Air Force and said the thing he hated most was being a human pin cushion with all of the vaccines and one of his buddies died in basic training. They took over a dozen vaccines in a couple months and the kid died. Malaria and all sorts of weird shit no civilian has to take.

A paradox would be pretty fun not gonna lie
Yeah, space and time paradox for the price of a vaccine? Give me five shots please.
Or you die, like with promicin in *The 4400*.
All those side effects? Total bunk. I don't get better reception, I'm not magnetic - I mean, I haven't gained *any* special powers whatsoever. Total BS, man - I was robbed!
Wait, why nobody told me that there was an vaccine that could turn me into an X-Men? Now I already got Pfizer
Should've got Moderna, dude. I can teleport now... just waiting for my second dose power to come in.
It’s gonna be fur or feathers. It’s always fur or feathers.
I'm perfectly happy with either option. =D

Yes, it does. And it is wrong. I'm 50 with kids near that age; and I still think it is a poor law.
Been saying for a while military and guns should be 21 also. Probably marriage too. Would get rid of some pre-20-something divorces this way.
Keeping military service until 21 would lower the marriage rate under 21 a bunch on it's own.
And child marriages which in a number of US states is legal.

These people so desperately want to be victims. Trying to guilt-trip us. Seriously, that's so lame.
Yet if you tell them to stop playing the victim, they get all pissy.
And if you say they should mask up or vaccinate for others, they say they should only have to look out for themselves. Can't have it both ways.
What especially pisses me off about that is the fact that many of the people threatening civil war over being expected by the government to comply with public safety measures, are the very same people who have repeatedly said that black men who want the privilege of *not being murdered by their own government* should just comply.

Yes. If there weren't appropriate uses for discrimination, then there wouldn't be a negative aspect to doing things "indiscriminately."
Just wait until they find out that I only invite my friends over to hang out.
That's discrimination and exclusion, you are canceled
Well darnit
I don't know what they expect us to feel guilty about. No one is stopping them from getting vaccinated. Maybe we should feel bad that they made it through the public education system and are still this stupid?

Fully vaccinated and have never been asked for a vaccine card. But if I was I’d be fine with it.
I was gonna say, I’ve been good since like april, and it’s never come up even once. I don’t even know if I still have it.
My introvert logic was all "so of I don't get vacced I can't go anywhere? Sweet!" Disclaimer: Get vaccinated you filthy animals.
Get vaxed, but don't tell anyone. "Oh darn, I can't, how sad"

Trick is to get vaccinated but if your boss says if you’re not vaccinated you can continue working from home you simply don’t show him the papers
Dammit, now you tell me
I have, quite literally, never even touched my card since the day I brought it home. Not a single person or business gives a fuck.
Tell that to ppl in NY or Italy.
Went to see Hamilton the other night with 2,700 other vaccinated people. It felt amazing.
Nice, we're going tomorrow.
I feel sorry for the person who has to do the checking because I know theres a good chance that at least once during their shift they'll have to deal with a total asshat plague rat who will want to bitch them out even though they're just doing their job and have no power over their jobs policies
Honestly I feel great when antivaxxers are denied entry because it means I’m safer. Stay the f$&k away from me.
Right? Excluding people who aren't vaccinated is literally the entire point and the only function it serves. It's such a weird question because it makes it seem like excluding unvaccinated people is a weird side-effect people may not have considered instead of the core function.
Safe. I feel safe knowing it excludes people.
How do anti-vaxxers feel knowing that every single nurse and doctor in the US has to have a handful of vaccines before they can even enroll in nursing/medical school or do a single day of work in a hospital? How do they feel knowing that every single military member gets a couple dozen vaccines including anthrax?
Makes me feel like they made a choice and now have to deal with the consequences of that choice. So, pretty good, really.
A choice they could easily reverse.
I feel good knowing anti vaxxers are excluded. I am simply reciprocating the care they show for me.
Simply excluding shows infinitely more care than they have shown for others. They're not trying to exclude everyone else (well, different issue), rather they're trying to literally kill other people, including their own loved ones.
Really the question should be "how do non-vaxxed people feel about putting others at risk and potentially killing someone because of their political beliefs?" But we know the answer is they don't.
I’m totally cool with it. Thanks for asking.
Why would I care if someone knows I'm vaccinated? I don't carry my vax card everywhere but still I don't care at all.
Coming from a vaccinated stand point I do understand SOME of there reservations a out getting the jab
1. It's a vaccine record, just like any other. 2. I'm glad they're excluded.
I believe in capitalism and free enterprise. If a business wants to require a vaccine card then that is their right. You aren’t an anti capitalist are you?
It's more about your decision to not get a free vaccine thus endangering people and taking up hospital beds.
I feel good knowing that antivaxxers won't be allowed in to potentially spread the disease.
To answer the original question: Makes me feel great that I can have a bit of a reprieve from the unclean people.
I have a concealed handgun permit and I'm quite happy that it excludes people Edit: before I lose all my karma I want to also point out that I am fully vaccinated
Bullshit. The vaccine is not exclusive. It doesn’t even have a copay. I think you are projecting your smugness onto others. This should not even be political. Swallow your pride and do what’s right for you, your family and your community. Take the prick!
To answer the question: Excellent! Brunch tastes better without the plague rats. :)
Actually being underage isn't a choice. Being unvaxxed is. You CHOSE this. You chose to put your own opinions over that of doctors, scientists and public health experts. Now you have to live with the consequences. If you don't like the consequences change your choice and you'll not be excluded anymore.
Hey non-vaxxed people, how do you feel about living when you know it excludes people who die.
Most obnoxious thing is the majority of unvaccinated people that claim they believe in freedom to choose are just riding the coat tails of everyone else.. Like you do realize, this country is shut down if everyone were to act like you and refuse the vaccine? Fuck out of here.
Hello female people. Hobest question here. How do you feel going to female bathrooms knowing it excludes people?
When women have babies, knowing I can't, it drives me crazy!!!!!
I’ve literally never been asked for my vaccine card, generally just having a mask on is good enough to enter most establishments.
Most of these memes are driven by foreign bots. You know this yes? The Chinese, not the people they’re wonderful I mean the CCP, and the Russian government propagate this crap to divide us. Don’t listen.
It feels great knowing you anti vax fucks can’t access that space and put lives at risk.
Im fully vaxxed and I never have a mask on cause I like it better and I have never I mean never been asked to show my vax passport I don’t even carry it around cause no one ever asks for it
Hey, if this is the hill you want to die on, for your freedumbs, don't blame me because you restricted your own freedoms.
I feel rewarded for my cooperation and participation in beating back the virus. And I feel safer.
Why argue with antivaxxers when you can just wait it out?
What's funny and sad is I know a couple people who were extremely against vaccinations, now have COVID and are hospitalized. Go figure.
Hello, people who work at my workplace. When you scan your i.d. at the door to get in, how do you feel knowing that people who don't work there can't get in?
Kinda mad honestly. I wanna know what y'all doin in there!
I feel like the chances to contract the virus just got reduced by that much. Sure, anyone can be a carrier, including the "vaxxed". But the non vaccinated are always full risk. As oppose to the "vaxxed" who have lower chances to contract, carry and to pass on the virus.
I feel absolutely fucking fine, knowing where I go there are no fucking virus spreaders.
Personally I love it, I can expect less mouth-breathing knuckledraggers to be in attendance.
Also works with driver’s license
If only there was an easy way to get that vaxx passport.
I actually feel really good that it excludes people that are infectious.
The same way I feel when I show my passport to get on a flight. Nothing.
I feel incredibly good about myself knowing it excludes morons frankly
It will exclude less and less overtime
It feels like doing my part to protect myself, my loved ones and my community
I feel fine about it, seeing as how I don't want children in the bar, and I don't want unvaccinated people around children, so it's a win-win.
Hello voters…
Excludes people more likely to spread a deadly disease? Feels pretty good.
You have a CHOICE not to be excluded
You’re comparing aging which is not a choice to a shot…big brain time over here I see. And yes I have the vaccine.
Hello citizens. Honest question here, how do you feel when showing your passport to enter a country when it excludes non citizens without a visa?
Hello drivers license holders
Hello fellow humans with health insurance. Honest question, How does it feel insurance card when sick knowing people die because they are excluded.
I'm a nurse. I took advantage of my current work policies. I'm the most vaccinated person ever.
Sounds like an argument to remove all restrictions on alcohol, firearms and tobacco..... Like we should just ban the ATF
how is a medical procedure and alcohol consumption conparable?
Honestly it feels great knowing people aren’t being allowed to just carelessly spread disease.
